What happens when Julia doesn't show up on Tuesday? The guys make due the best they can. They even recruit Chris to join the chaos! Yes, the one and only Chris from The Weekly Pint himself is part of episode 250. Will he remain a fan of either TBP or The Gnome after this experience? Only time will tell. Did they drink beer? Probably. Did they talk about content? Also probably. Was it Cincinnati-based craft beer content and content creators? Remains to be seen. A few things they DID talk about are : Cheese is awesome. The Cincy Brew Dads drinking a lot of Coronas. The Weekly Pint starting ALMOST on time. Marco's chest hair and lactating booze. Umbrella-ella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh-ing all the Gnome's podcasts under one feed. Bret and Mike avoiding the Tilray black hole but Gnome filled everyone in. Did "Ice" beer ever really go away? Wanting more booze in the news. The Brewery Underground Podcast was NOT underground, which was incredibly disappointing and very un-mole-like. Nashville has places that have beer...like that one place...and that one other place. If you don't know the Cincy Brew Dads, the Brewery Underground Podcast did a great job of introducing them. Oktoberfest and cigar thoughts. Not sharing the hullaballoo. Celebrate the Cincy Brew Dads' 1 year Content-iversary at Third Eye Sharonville on July 11 from 4-8PM! Stop by Southridge Brewing! They're celebrating their 1 year anniversary in June! Recording on Cinco de Mayo brings out a little extra chaos, especially when we have the one and only Alex Rhinehart from Southridge Brewery joining us! We became his new marketing team, much to his dismay, and he joined us in talking about all things Cincy Brew Dads before he headed North to regain some sanity and peace and quiet. Much discussion-ery was had on Tuesday about all manner of things such as: What makes beers Mexican, or at least what makes a Mexican lager Mexican. The languages our beer hearts speak. Qualities to look for in food. Maxing out the clicker. Mike and Marco need to have an impression showdown. Mike hates and dislikes a LOT of things, especially when he's flying solo. Nothing good happens after 2AM. A Tilray stock price update. Talking a little about Fred Rogers, the best human ever. Gnome finally felt like a dragon. Planning to record on train tracks. Did Gnome have the best Oktoberfest he's ever had? We go over the difference between a beer aging and holding up well. Send us Fan MailHome distilling may be coming soon, legally! Some big news this week as the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans declared the ban on home distilling unconstitutional. Now this doesn't mean we can all run out and get our gear to start making whiskey, some states (like Georgia) have bans in place on top of the federal ban. The reason it was overturned is interesting, too. Not a free card to get distilling, but a step in the right direction.Boston Beer Co. is facing a big lawsuit from one of the suppliers for not buying as many cans as they committed to, $175 Million worth. That's a lotta cans. The Brewers Association has announce the 2025 list of Top 50 craft breweries. We do enjoy seeing this list each year, but we take it with a grain of salt. There are a lot of the big companies buying up breweries that make the list, like Tilray, so the info is a bit skewed. Still, some pretty great breweries are on the list as well.In other news... Bapple is back, back again. The Guinndex is keeping pint prices in check. Pabst collabs on a pickle beer. Send us Fan MailYou see that? Episode 500. Crazy. We've been running our mouths about beer for over a decade now. What a time it has been. Thanks for sharing it with us!Big news for the beer world this week as it was announced that Mitch Steele would be joining Abita Brewing. Mitch is best known for his time at Stone Brewing and also co-founded New Realm Brewing here in Atlanta. He's been a very active member of our craft beer community and we'll miss having him around, but he seems like a great match for Abita and we're curious to see what they'll do together.Copacking seems to be a hot item now. Many breweries are leaning on it pretty heavily for growth. It's part of Abita's growth strategy, Tilray has worked it into their model, and Firestone Walker is partnering with Trumer Pils for their US production. Is this a good way to stay afloat in the modern beverage climate? I guess we'll see.In "tech" news this week Heineken has created a device they're calling The Clinker. Send us Fan MailIn this episode, we kick things off with a surprise Irish whiskey that caught us off guard, then quickly pivot into venting about gas prices and the reality of celebrating without the usual green beer gimmicks. Somewhere along the way, we tell you why you should follow Garron (trust us, he's “delicious”) and break down our Beers of the Week.We revisit the legend of the infamous “4th segment” before jumping into industry news, including Tilray and BrewDog making moves with U.S. acquisitions and Sycamore reopening as Club West Brewing. We also give a shoutout to Truck & Tap and check out some legit green beers from Phantom and Lindeman's.From there, we zoom out a bit—talking about how non-alcoholic beer is oddly becoming an inflation tracker in the UK, taking a nostalgic look at the lifestyles of high-earning 1980s hired guns, and discussing why craft beer might be cooling on cans. We also dig into how Guinness helped pioneer scientific statistics long before most people realize. To wrap it all up, we explore the discovery of a 100-year-old beer cave in Iowa and react to George Clooney jumping into the non-alcoholic beer game. It's beer, news, history, and plenty of tangents—just the way we like it. Maine's craft brewing industry has always punched above its weight despite being among the smallest in population. The state ranked second in breweries (14.3 per 100,000 21+ adults) and economic impact per capita, and third in gallons (9.8) per 21+ adult in 2024, according to Brewers Association data. That outsized impact along with the state's robust tourism business gives Maine craft brewers a unique perspective on the industry's ebbs and flows. The latest edition of the Brewbound Podcast features two of those voices – Baxter Brewing president Jenn Lever and Orono Brewing co-owner Abe Furth – in separate conversations recorded during the New England Brew Summit. Both are also Maine Brewers Guild leaders and board members. Up first, Lever explained what it's like to navigate a business when seven months account for the lion's share of volume. "We're so proud to represent Maine year-round, but we also recognize the challenges that come when your population quadruples for less than half of the year," she said. "You've gotta be ready to activate and react as quickly as possible to that summer season. "The people that come to Maine the first time, it's never their last time." Lever also touched on how Baxter's mix shifts during the busy season, the loss of Canadian tourism amid strained international relations and why blueberry-flavored offerings have become big business for the company. Then, Furth discussed why guild participation remains important. He also shared why operating in a college town allows him to peer into the future and plan accordingly, and explained the importance of working through innovation plans with the brewery's distributors to find products that fill real whitespace in their portfolios. Before the interview, Justin and Jess recap Tilray's purchase of BrewDog's U.S. assets and the future of the platform. They also look at some not great shipment numbers to start the year and some not-so-bad scans.

Two months into her role as president of Portland, Maine-based Oxbow Brewing Company, Bri Warner is finding her groove and taking on more of the hands-on, day-to-day operations. The leadership transition allows founder Tim Adams to spend more time evangelizing for Oxbow and Rising Tide, which the company acquired in early 2025. Warner joined the brewery from Atlantic Sea Farms, the largest kelp farming operation in the country. The duo joined the Brewbound Podcast for a conversation recorded at Oxbow's Portland taproom. Before the interview, the Brewbound team details the latest beer industry news, including Tilray's acquisition of BrewDog's Australian operations. Four Loko's proposed sale and George Clooney and buds' new NA brand, Crazy Mountain.
“When people are happy and passionate then the experiences that you have are just going to be better.”The story of Molly Rose Brewing and the man behind it, Nic Sandery, has been one of constant evolution, all in the pursuit of delicious flavours and delightful experiences.Launched initially as a subscription service while enough pennies were put away to open phase one of the brewery's home in Collingwood, that original brewpub has since been joined by an ambitious, high-end bar, restaurant and beer garden, then a pilot brewery and rotovap for creating small-batch spirits.By the time we sat down with Nic for the show – almost a decade on from the first article he wrote for us as he embarked on global travels to study beer, food and drinking cultures around the world – Molly Rose had evolved once more. The team has revamped the “brew-restaurant” part of the venue into what the team refers to as “Collingwood beer hall chic”: more casual, more laid-back, more European in feel.It felt like the perfect time to chat to one of the finest flavour merchants and most thoughtful figures in the beer world, not just to talk about the recent changes, but also his belief that people will always want nice things, his grandmothers' values that infuse the business, the turbulence of recent years that saw Molly Rose restructure and go into liquidation at one point, and the importance of community and collaboration.Prior to sitting down with Nic, we look back at the week that was – and a little further too: to the Royal Queensland Beer Awards and the good news that trophy-winners Happy Valley shared afterwards; a feature on KAIJU! brewer Kat Howes as she joined the brewery's women to create a beer for International Women's Day; a new beer history tour by one of our writers; Tilray's purchase of BrewDog Australia; and our involvement in the upcoming High Country Hop Technical Symposium.Start of segments: 0:00 – The Week On Crafty 14:22 – Nic Sandery Part 1 32:52 – Philter on their Australian International Beer Awards success – Part 1 33:55 – Nic Sandery Part 2 59:11 – AIBAs Part 2To find out more about featuring on The Crafty Pint Podcast or otherwise partnering with The Crafty Pint, contact craig@craftypint.com.

Tilray continues to stockpile breweries, and they got this dog for cheap. Let's see how it goes.In funner news, we had a bottle share last weekend. Good times, it's been way too long. We had some sour beers, grilled meats, played some cards, and smoked some cigars. You should have been there. We've got a new hop out of Australian, or at least a new named hop - Luna. It's a fruity blend and suggested for use in lagers. Interesting. In the legislative world our Georgia beer bill failed. We used to that, but it still stings every time. On a bigger scale the CHEERS Act returns, pushing for more eco-friendly draft systems.Next week... our livestream will be on Thursday to accommodate a special guest. Colm O'Connor, Guinness Brewery Ambassador from the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. He'll join us for our St. Patrick's Day show and it's sure to be a great time. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! This week on Wednesday Warehouse, the gang discusses Tilray's acquisition of BrewDog's European operations, and Constellation Brands' GNS conference updates. We also covered Reyes' expansion into 11 new markets through their RNDC acquisition, and discussed the potential sale of Four Loko, though no buyer was identified. The team also shared insights from the Canabev Summit, where industry leaders acknowledged the need to align with the three-tier system and avoid being associated with problematic edibles, while awaiting legislative decisions on hemp regulations expected by July.=================================Our 3 Daily Bev-Alc Trade Publications: https://beernet.com/Watch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@BeerNetRadio/videosPodcast feeds - Audio: https://creators.spotify.com/pod/beernetradio=================================About Us:Beer Business Daily / Wine & Spirits Daily publisher Harry Schuhmacher joins his editors and bev-alc industry guests once a week as they grok the beer and beverage business issues of the day. New York's 42 North Brewing has entered its second decade with a new mindset about what it means to be a craft brewer, founder John Cimperman said on the latest episode of the Brewbound Podcast. 42 North Brewing celebrated its 10th anniversary last September. Business at its taprooms in East Aurora and downtown Buffalo has returned to pre-COVID-19 levels with some changes. Food and events make up a larger portion of revenue, and 42 North has embraced both by enlisting a restaurant partner to manage service and booking standing live music performances. Before the interview, Zoe and Jess break down Tilray Brands' acquisition of BrewDog's Scotland brewery, global brand and IP and 11 pubs in the U.K. and Ireland, plus the closing of BeatBox's sale to Anheuser-Busch InBev and the new leadership of the Brewers Association's board of directors.
Send a textTilray strikes a deal that we're OK with.. for now.Big news this week is that Tilray has struck a deal to brew and distribute several Carlsberg beers. From our point of view this is good to keep folks working at the breweries in their portfolio, and we love that. Let's see how it goes. The FBI had some beer drama this week when Kash Patel chugged a beer while celebrating with the US Men's hockey team at the Olympics in Italy. Folks said he had work to be doing and shouldn't be wasting taxpayer dollars. We get that but if (big if) he was there on official business and happened to get the chance to hang with the team and celebrate we won't hold it against him.We also talk about one of our favorite topics again, Gen Z's drinking habits. We're watching them like ants in an ant farm. This week, where they do spend money when their drinking and a classic tradition they think is cringe. Damn you, Gen Z!Some chaos in Mississippi after a state ABC warehouse upgrade. Apparently the software that runs their conveyor belts has some bugs in it and has caused a huge backlog, like places not getting any liquor. They're currently working through the backlog but no news on fixing the issue. In another news... super heavy beer mug challenges, the Topo's gone dry like Mississippi, and more tariff talk. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! The pack mentality isn't going away anytime soon in craft brewing. The Oregon Beverage Collective (OBC) – the tie up of Crux Fermentation Project, Cascade Lakes Brewing, Silver Moon Brewing, Goodlife Brewing and Tumalo Cider – launched a couple of weeks ago as one of the latest additions to this crowd. OBC president Andy Rhine joined the latest edition of the Brewbound Podcast to share how those five brands are looking to build strength in numbers. Rhine explained that OBC's formation wasn't out of necessity even in a Pacific Northwest market facing challenges through distributor consolidation. Instead, the collective's foundation was built via long-time relationships among brewery owners in Bend. And it was those relationships that led to Rhine acquiring Crux in a separate deal from founders Larry Sidor and Paul Evers. Even with a portfolio of five brands and efforts to consolidate production, sales and marketing, Rhine said maintaining each brand's "unique identity" will be key to the future of the collective. The conversation also covered Rhine's view of OBC's future and whether more members will be added to its ranks. Before the interview, Justin and Zoe break down the latest headlines, including the fallout from Dry January, the Brewers Association's 2025 financial results, Tilray's licensing deal with Carlsberg, the Left Hand Collective's newest member and the Supreme Court's ruling on reciprocal tariffs.

Send us a textAre you a connoisseur of cask ale?Cask ales aren't wildly popular in the US, but they have their fans. For folks in the Atlanta area we do have a couple of places known for the quality of their casks, and they put up some unique offerings. In a huge announcement the Siebel Institute announced they'll be leaving Chicago, a city they've called home for 157 years. The prestigious brewing school cited immigration policies as part of the reason for the move. Users on Facebook debated the validity of that claim. Either way, they'll be heading to Canada very soon.Tilray is all over the news lately. A reverse stock split, closing Revolver, and rumors they may be interested in buying Rogue. They're really all over the place.Boston Beer Co. is facing a class action lawsuit on the way they enforce non-competes. Apparently they're bending rules some in the way they compensate exiting employees that are under a non-compete. We have a special in-studio guest this week on the Industrial Hemp Show. Steve Groff, third-generation Lancaster County farmer and hemp innovator from Holtwood, Pennsylvania, stopped by the Hemp Studio at the Lancaster Farming Office in Ephrata. We talked about machinery, long fiber, seed spacing, planter design and why farmer economics need to make sense if this industry is ever going to scale. "Farmers are gonna have to get 10 or 20% more profit per acre for this hemp out the gate," he said. We also talked about the green decorticator he's been working on. And when we got back from lunch at Tacos El Gordo in Ephrata, we talked about the recent changes to the federal definition of hemp and what it will mean for the industry. Steve Groff https://stevegroff.com Tacos El Gordo A special thank-you to Tacos El Gordo for fueling our in-studio conversation during this episode. https://lancastertacos.com/ News Nuggets Intoxicating hemp ban deepens uncertainty at some publicly traded cannabis firms HempToday reports that the federal crackdown on intoxicating hemp-derived THC is reshaping financial forecasts for Curaleaf, Tilray and CBD-only companies, exposing fragile balance sheets across the sector. BIO: Edwin Endlich is the Chief Marketing Officer of Wysh and President of the National Alliance for Financial Literacy and Inclusion.STORY: Edwin's worst investment was buying Tilray stock at $143 during the early hype of legal cannabis investing. Swept up in the excitement of a “new frontier,” he held on as the price crashed—eventually selling at around 30 cents and losing over 99% of his investment.LEARNING: The fundamentals always apply, even in new or exciting industries. Don't let hype replace due diligence. “We're in this AI conversation, let's not forget the fundamentals of the market. Learn from what has happened in this space before. And don't get too cocky.”Edwin Endlich Guest profileEdwin Endlich is the Chief Marketing Officer of Wysh and President of the National Alliance for Financial Literacy and Inclusion. Edwin has spent his career at the intersection of marketing, fintech, and AI, helping financial institutions tell more human stories in an increasingly digital world. He's passionate about making financial protection simple, accessible, and even a little more fun — proving you don't need buzzwords or hype to make banking and technology relevant.Worst investment everThere's nothing quite like the rush of feeling early—early to a trend, early to a movement, early to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That's precisely what Edwin felt in 2015–2016, when investing in legal cannabis became possible in parts of the United States. For the first time, regular people could invest in a newly legalized industry. It felt like history happening in real time, a frontier market ready to explode. Edwin and his friends didn't want to miss out, especially when companies were going public, and their share prices seemed destined to skyrocket. One of those stocks was Tilray. At $143 a share, Edwin was convinced he was buying the future. He imagined stock splits, booming demand, and a cannabis empire rising from the ground floor. Instead, he watched that $143 tumble month after month, until he finally sold it for around 30 cents. The emotional rollercoaster of hope, disappointment, and finally acceptance was a journey Edwin will never forget.A 99.3% loss.He now calls it his worst investment—not just because of the financial hit, but because of how powerfully excitement and hype clouded his judgment.Lessons learnedEvery investor thinks their situation is unique. But in reality, the same patterns repeat again and again.Markets take time to mature.Regulation can shift overnight.Early doesn't always mean right.Excitement is not a strategy.Andrew's takeawaysA portfolio isn't just about diversification by industry or geography; it's also about diversifying across stages of maturity.Stable, well-regulated companies like Coca-Cola or Pepsi behave very differently from early-stage, hype-driven industries, such as the cannabis sector.Even large companies, with teams of top analysts, often get it wrong.Actionable adviceIf Edwin could offer one piece of advice to anyone starry-eyed over the next big thing, it would be this:Do your due diligence. Seriously. Before you invest in anything—especially something exciting, futuristic, or rapidly trending—slow down and ask:Has this been done before? What can I learn from past bubbles? What does...

Tonya Cornett thought she would end her career at 10 Barrel Brewing. She had joined the Bend, Oregon-based craft brewery in 2012, piled up competition medals for her beers and created a following at the brewery. She thrived as the brewery's R&D brewmaster before and after its 2014 sale to Anheuser-Busch InBev (A-B). But then Tilray Brands acquired 10 Barrel and seven other brands in 2023. A year later, Tilray laid off Cornett and members of her team in a move that shocked many within the industry. On this week's Brewbound Podcast, Cornett discusses her journey over the last decade-plus and her next chapter with Upp Liquids, a new venture in the rebranded Immersion Brewing space. Cornett shares her experiences at A-B, how 10 Barrel and her role changed under Tilray's ownership and her goals with Upp moving forward. As the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) kicks off in Denver, Cornett also explains how medals have served as a stamp of approval throughout her career and why they remain relevant. Cornett's beers have received numerous competition medals throughout the years, including 28 medals at the Brewers Association's (BA) GABF and World Beer Cup. That doesn't include 10 Barrel's 2024 clean sweep of the German-style Sour Ale category during the 2024 GABF competition. Before the interview, the Brewbound team runs through the latest headlines, including a big leadership shakeup at Molson Coors and Constellation Brands' struggles as its largest consumer base remains under pressure.

In 2015, the most lucrative beverage industry deal ended up happening between Monster Beverage and The Coca-Cola Company. But what doesn't get talked about enough is how that long-term strategic partnership caused another beverage giant to experience the categorical version of the movie “50 First Dates.” And that's because before Coca-Cola became the exclusive global distribution partner of Monster Energy, Anheuser-Busch was the preferred domestic distributor…in the early phase of its “beyond beer” strategic transformation. But while AB InBev could've then aggressively pursued the acquisition of Bang Energy or more recently CELSIUS, GHOST, or Alani Nu…which had all been essentially built off the back of the beer giant's distributor network, it made the head scratching decision to buy HiBall Energy in 2017. And while AB InBev discontinued the all-natural energy drinks in 2023…it sold the defunct brand IP to Tilray a handful of months later. But now with more focus being placed on HiBall, the business is growing substantially on Amazon and returning to Whole Foods Market…a retailer where brand loyalty was strong. So, it begs the question…is there some kind of categorical curse on AB InBev that I haven't heard of yet?
This week Brian and Nate recap their casual bottle share which they didn't invite Tim to or even tell him about. What the hell? Anyhow... they kept it chill and shared a few brews just like the old days. Good times were had by all those that knew it was happeningA company claims to have been the first to formulate a beer meant for drinking on a flight and brewed for the higher altitude. We feel like we've heard this before though.More online conversations from a few places about kids in taprooms but it seems opinions may be changing. Our views vary, but what is usually a hot topic seemed to keep mostly level heads.More brewery closures as Tilray closes the Redhook brewlab, a Voodoo Ranger and Malort collab with a twist is out, and knocking back boilermakers around the world. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! Another month, another shorter Kolsch night show. This week, Barstool Perspectives had the absolute BEST rant of their entire existence, and Gnome drank neon colored things. We also talked about our AWESOME time with some Northerners, bottles Hans Gruber-ing, Tilray stock is still cheap, and did we hit the over or under for saying the word "Kolsch" in this episode? "Bitter" Truths, Big Beers, and Bold MovesThis week, we crack open a triple dose of hop-fueled commentary, brewery gossip, and World Beer Cup bombshells. We even got a little salty—literally. In Beers of the Week we pay tribute to a fallen Georgia brewer with Jekyll Brewing's Big Creek Kölsch. Jekyll, a longtime staple with both supporters and haters, is set to shut down all locations on Mother's Day. We dove deep into their history, rise, Kickstarter roots, and the harsh economics of brewery expansion in a post-industrial park taproom era. Then came the ESB talk. What the heck is an ESB anyway? Brian broke down the style—medium malt, medium hop, and no, it's not actually that bitter. We dug into the surprising World Beer Cup win: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale taking gold in the American ESB category. Wait, what? Pale Ale is an ESB now? According to the new guidelines, apparently so. The lines blur, styles evolve, and Brian drops knowledge.Speaking of the World Beer Cup, Georgia showed up big: 6 breweries, 9 medals. New Realm, Bold Monk, Wild Heaven, and others brought home serious hardware. We raised a glass to our local heroes and called out a few surprise absences (no Creature Comforts?).Economic chatter followed, and for once, the news wasn't all doom and gloom. The U.S. beer industry contributed over $470 billion in 2024, thanks to jobs, taxes, and of course, your favorite six-packs. But challenges remain—Tilray teeters on delisting, and even success stories sometimes mask hard decisions behind closed taproom doors. And finally, Tecate went weird: a salty light lager made with Gulf of Mexico water, available only on a floating bar off the Yucatan. No, really. So whether you're crushing cream ales with bourbon chasers, debating beer style semantics, or lamenting your favorite brewery's closure, this week's episode has you covered. Thanks for listening to Beer Guys Radio! Once again this week's episode has very little Cincinnati beer content recappery, and a whole mess of tomfoolery. We sang, we may have danced, and we may have talked about all manner of things up to and including GG, dungeon masters, our dive bar snack top 5, reasons why Gen Z isn't drinking as much beer, possible new retirement plans that don't involve Tilray, and the bucket of mystery miseries. What makes an astronaut? Are Segal movies good? Pocket Jesus. Papal things. And then some actual Cincinnati beer content to spice up the show. Saucy Cincinnati. Everything sucks, but at least we still have beerThe Brewers Association released their 2024 brewing industry stats recently. As expected, it wasn't great, but it could be worse. There are still passionate people opening breweries and us consumers still have more options for great beer than we ever have before. Praise be.ChatGPT and Beer (and other things)Do you use AI in your job? For Brian and I it's become a daily tool. It's advancing amazingly fast. There are fun beery things you can do with it, too. Get beer recommendations, have it create labels and action figures from your description, or research info on beer and breweries. One caveat - it gets things wrong, a lot, and it states them rather confidently. Question everything it tells you and verify the info. If something doesn't look right then call it out and the AI will take another look to verify its info... but it may tell you something else wrong again. It's hard not to be political these daysY'all, we have been doing this show for going on 10 years and we've always avoided politics. That's becoming difficult to do but we will (in most cases) try to present things as facts and information. But, it's getting crazy out there. The tariffs are hitting the industry already with one smaller local brewery saying the tariffs have already cost them an extra $60,000. Constellation Brands reports that the immigration policies are impacting their sales. I hope our countries can get their acts together, cause it's not looking good.In other news...More brewery closures announced of brands owned my Tilray and Monster, and Miller releases a beer-infused record of dive bar sounds.
