The number of homeless in the United States has grown by a third during the Biden years despite steady economic growth since the end of the pandemic. So how did this happen? Why did a rising tide not only fail to lift all boats, but now threatens to drown an even greater number of Americans living on the margins -- and under bridges, on sidewalks and in their cars? Jimmy speaks with Food Not Bombs founder Keith McHenry about the history of homelessness, why the problem remains so entrenched in the U.S. and why purported attempts to solve it have failed so spectacularly. Jimmy and McHenry then discuss where the tens of billions of dollars that have been allocated to solve the homelessness crisis really went since they're obviously not being used as intended by the voting public.

Start EVERY day the Chuck Norris Way with Morning Kick! Get the JOY discount on Morning Kick HERE: www.chuckdefense.com/JoyYears ago, I read a cartoon book that was brilliantly written, tackled complex economic principles in simple terms and completely changed my thinking about finance and markets. It was called ‘How An Economy Grows & Why It Crashes' by Peter Schiff. The book untangled many economic fallacies, cleared my thinking and helped explain the beauty of FREE markets. That was about ten years ago and ever since that formative experience, I have been trying to land an interview with Peter Schiff! Well, as you can imagine I am SO glad to finally welcome him today on the The Shannon Joy Show. It's been a long time coming and the timing is impeccable.Because, everyone senses that something is VERY wrong in our economy today. This election season features two political candidates who have completely abandoned even a semblance of fiscal responsibility. The numbers are astronomical, the debt-driven political promises are utterly ridiculous and it would all be laughable if it weren't so devastating. But alas, after 60 years of accelerating debt and reckless deficit spending, it seems like the the fat lady is about to sing for the American economic system and dollar supremacy. This puts you and your family in the crosshairs for financial devastation brought on by years of BAD economic policy from useless, cowardly and corrupt politicians. But you don't have to be a victim. You CAN take control and thrive amidst the chaos.I am honored to welcome the relentless truth-teller, Peter Schiff on the SJ Show today to learn about the economy, our financial system, why it is hopelessly broken and how we can survive the coming economic storm and hopefully be around to fix it in the future.______________________________________Show Resources:Get the book!'How and Economy Grows and Why it Crashes'https://www.amazon.com/How-Economy-Grows-Why-Crashes/dp/047052670XFollow Peter on Socials:@PeterSchiff on YouTube, Twitter/X, Instagram, FacebookPeter Schiff's Biography:Peter Schiff began his investment career as a financial consultant with Shearson Lehman Brothers, after having earned a degree in finance and accounting from U.C. Chapter 1 What's How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes Book by Peter D. Schiff"How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" is a book written by Peter D. Schiff in 2010. The book aims to explain the fundamental principles behind economic growth and decline in a way that is accessible to the average reader. Schiff uses an allegorical story set on a fictional island to illustrate the basic concepts of economics. He introduces characters who engage in basic economic activities such as fishing, farming, and building, to explain how these activities contribute to the growth of the island's economy. Through this story, Schiff explores the importance of saving, investing, and productive activity in an economy. The book also delves into the various factors that can lead to economic crises and crashes. Schiff discusses the role of government intervention, inflation, and excessive debt in the economic downturns. He argues for limited government intervention and advocates for sound money policies to prevent economic instability.Overall, "How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" serves as an introduction to economic principles and highlights the potential pitfalls and dangers that can lead to economic crises. The book aims to provide readers with a better understanding of the workings of the economy and how to avoid common pitfalls in personal financial decisions.Chapter 2 Is How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes Book A Good Book"How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" by Peter D. Schiff is generally well-regarded among readers interested in economics and finance. However, opinions on the goodness of a book can vary depending on individual preferences and goals. The book offers a simplified and accessible explanation of complex economic concepts, making it suitable for readers who want a basic understanding of how economies work. It utilizes a storytelling format to explain the fundamentals of economic growth, government intervention, and the causes of economic crises.Readers appreciate Peter Schiff's ability to communicate economic principles in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. Additionally, the book provides a unique perspective on the functioning of free markets and the potential dangers of excessive government intervention, which can be insightful for certain readers. However, it's important to note that Peter Schiff has been criticized by some economists for his extreme views and incorrect predictions regarding the 2008 financial crisis. Therefore, readers should approach the book critically and consider alternative viewpoints.Overall, "How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" can be a good book for readers looking for a simplified introduction to economics and those interested in exploring different perspectives on economic theory.Chapter 3 How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes Book by Peter D. Schiff Summary"How an Economy Grows and Why It Crashes" is a book written by Peter D. Schiff, an American economist and financial broker. The book, published in 2010, provides an easy-to-understand explanation of how the economy works and the reasons behind its crashes. The main premise of the book is that economies grow through savings, investment, and production. Schiff presents this concept through an allegorical story set on an island, which simplifies complex economic concepts for the reader. In the story, the island starts with only three inhabitants who engage in simple barter transactions. As the population increases, they realize the benefits of using a medium of exchange, i.e., money, to facilitate trade. Schiff uses this illustration to explain how money functions as a facilitator of exchange and promotes economic growth.The...

In this episode of the Planned Solutions Incorporated Podcast, The US economy grew just 1.1% in the first quarter, a lower growth rate than the prior two quarters. However, the report had a lot of positives with household spending up 3.7% and government spending increasing 4.7%. Meanwhile, investment expenditures were a drag on growth, down 12.5%, likely due to increased interest rates and the uncertainty of the current business environment. Also, US consumer sentiment is often cited as a leading economic indicator as it tends to change course before the stock market. In 2021 it peaked six months before the US stock market and in 2022 it bottomed four months before the market low. Today, consumer sentiment is signaling support for the current market recovery as the index continues to trend upward at 27% above its low from October And, Term life insurance policies are often very cost-effective but do come with a downside, unlike permanent insurance, that the policy term will end at some point in the future. However, some term policies have features that allow them to be continued, at a higher premium, or converted into a permanent insurance policy, also at a higher premium, for those who need to continue their coverage. However, these provisions are often complex and therefore should be considered carefully before making an election Plus a look at the Planned Solutions Incorporated Office Bulletin Board- Last newsletter we expressed our support for the Sacramento Kings who were in the NBA playoffs for the first time in seventeen years. Since then, the Kings lost in the last game of a best of seven series to the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. Despite the disappointing result, this was a great season to be a Kings fan. After years near the bottom of the standings, the Kings finished third in the Western Conference regular season standings and had a good showing in the playoffs taking the defending champions down to the wire, only falling short in the final game of the series. As special thanks goes out to the Kings coach, Mike Brown, who not only won NBA Coach of the Year but also demonstrated how a change in leadership and a new culture can transform an organization from mediocrity to excellence.
