Peter begins this livestream with his thoughts on the new tie-up between Toyota and Haas-Ferrari. It's basically win-win from every angle - although the whole business of an F1 team by definition designing and building its own car takes a bit of knock when you consider that, in the immediate future, Haas F1 will be co-producing its cars with Ferrari, Toyota and Dallara...There are plenty of questions and comments - as ever - from F1 fans around the world, with subjects ranging from the current Pirelli tyre monopoly to Ford's Walter Hayes suggesting to Jim Clark in early 1967 that he (Jim) should perhaps accept a pay rise. And there is an exclusive interview with Hyundai's Thierry Neuville, current leader (with two rounds to go) of the FIA World Rally Drivers' Championship. Welcome to our motorsports podcast where we discuss F1, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, our own racing adventures, and some other adventures! The month of May comes to a close and the Indy 500 sure did put on a show! A little bit of controversy with Newgarden winning and a discussion point raised on how could both IndyCar and NASCAR be flexible when inclement weather looks imminent on race day.NASCARs Coke 600 was not 600 miles in the end and F1 cars at Monaco went slower than F2 cars on the same weekend. We dive a bit deeper into what F1 and Monaco could do to help make the racing more interesting. We also go down a bit of a rabbit hole. In NASCAR, Stewart-Haas Racing has announced they will sell the team and get out at the end of this year. In F1, the FIA President has told Andretti that they are better off buying another team. Connecting these two dots - could Haas F1 be up for sale? We look at other options that could be viable based on the latest rumors circulating the F1 paddock.Coming up this weekend - IndyCar and IMSA take to the streets of Detroit for their next rounds. MotoGP is also racing at Mugello.
Could the sale of his NASCAR team benefit or hinder Haas' F1 operation?Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsIn this video, we dive deep into the recent and surprising closure of the NASCAR team owned by Gene Haas and Tony Stewart, exploring its significant impact on the Haas F1 team. After 20 years of competition, the NASCAR team is shutting down, leaving four highly valuable charters up for grabs. This development allows Gene Haas to redirect his focus and potentially funnel more financial resources into the F1 team, a move that comes at a critical time with upcoming changes in the Formula 1 landscape, including an increase in the cost cap to $220 million. We discuss how this extra funding can help Haas F1 stay competitive and explore the transition from the controversial Guenther Steiner era to a more stable, engineering-first leadership under Ayao Komatsu. This shift aims to improve the team's performance and financial stability, making Haas F1 more attractive to drivers and investors. Additionally, we delve into the persistent buyout rumors involving Michael Andretti and why Gene Haas is unlikely to sell, valuing the team's growth and strong partnership with Ferrari. Moreover, we highlight how this partnership with Ferrari benefits Haas F1, including nurturing new talent like Oliver Bearman and the potential addition of Zhou Guanyu, who brings financial backing and experience with Ferrari power units. We'll also discuss the broader implications for the F1 grid, the strategic moves by Haas F1, and what the future holds for the team as they aim to rise in the standings.
