THIS WEEK'S NASIR HAMEED CORNER WE HAVE: ZACK BROWN before he joined McLaren and BOB BONDURANT… AND YES….OUR BONUS IS HIRO MATSUSHITA OF FORMULA 1 AND CHAMP CAR FAME! Bob Bondurant was one of America's most influential racing figures — a driver who succeeded on the world's greatest circuits, competed for legendary teams including Shelby American, Ferrari, and Eagle, and ultimately shaped generations of racers through education. Rising from the fiercely competitive Southern California road racing scene of the 1950s, Bondurant achieved significant success on both sides of the Atlantic and became a pivotal ambassador for American road racing. His enduring legacy lives on through the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, which trained hundreds of thousands of drivers — from future professionals to Hollywood royalty. Career, Bondurant was born in Evanston, Illinois, but his competitive instincts emerged early and loudly. As a teenager, he raced Indian motorcycles on dirt ovals, learning car control the hard way. By 1956, he shifted his focus to sports cars, initially racing a Morgan, and soon made his mark by winning the West Coast “B” Production Championship in a Chevrolet Corvette, claiming an extraordinary 18 victories in 20 races. His growing reputation caught the attention of Santa Barbara Chevrolet dealer Shelly Washburn, who hired Bondurant in 1961 to drive his #614 1959 Corvette. Over the next several seasons, Bondurant became a dominant force on the West Coast. His on-track rivalry with David McDonald produced some of the era's most memorable Corvette battles. At the 1962 L.A. Times Grand Prix, Bondurant debuted Washburn's new 1963 Corvette Z06 Stingray, and between 1961 and 1963, he won an astonishing 30 of 32 races in Washburn's Corvettes. Shelby, Europe, and international success In 1963, Bondurant joined Carroll Shelby's Ford Cobra team, immediately delivering results. He won his first race for Shelby at Continental Divide Raceway in Colorado, followed by an overall GT victory at the L.A. Times Grand Prix at Riverside later that year. The following season propelled him onto the global stage. After finishing second in GT at Sebring, Bondurant spent 1964 racing in Europe, campaigning Shelby's new 289 FIA Cobras at iconic events including the Targa Florio, Spa-Francorchamps, and the Nürburgring. His most celebrated triumph came at the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he and Dan Gurney won the GT class in the revolutionary Cobra Daytona Coupé. Bondurant reached the peak of his international racing career in 1965, when he played a key role in Shelby American and Ford winning the FIA Manufacturers' World Championship. He won seven of ten races, defeating the class-dominant Ferrari 250 GTOs across Europe. That same year, Bondurant expanded his résumé further, driving a works Ferrari Formula One car at the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, followed by a start in a Lotus 33 for Reg Parnell at the Mexican Grand Prix. Formula One, film, and defining moments In 1966, Bondurant's expertise took him beyond the racetrack. He served as technical consultant for John Frankenheimer's film Grand Prix and personally trained lead actor James Garner to drive Formula cars for the movie's racing scenes. That same year, Bondurant was involved in one of the most consequential moments in motorsport safety history. Alongside Graham Hill, he helped extract Jackie Stewart from his fuel-soaked wreck during the 1966 Belgian Grand Prix — an incident that directly inspired Stewart's later campaign for improved safety standards. Bondurant also competed in five Formula One Grands Prix with Team Chamaco Collect, driving BRMs and achieving an impressive fourth-place finish at Monaco. He rounded out his Formula One involvement in North America with two races driving an Eagle for Dan Gurney's Anglo American Racers. The crash that changed everything In 1967, Bondurant competed in the Can-Am series and returned to Le Mans in a Corvette L88 Coupé, leading the GT class until a wrist pin failure ended his race in the early morning hours. Later that year, disaster struck at Watkins Glen. While driving a McLaren, a steering arm failed at approximately 150 mph approaching the Loop-Chute section (today's Turn 5). The car flipped eight times, leaving Bondurant with severe injuries to his ribs, legs, feet, and most critically, his back. Doctors warned he might never walk again. Bondurant refused to accept that verdict. Through determination and relentless rehabilitation, he recovered — and in the process, envisioned a new chapter. Miami and Montreal to host FIA Formula 2 Championship Rounds in 2026 FIA Formula 2 announce that Miami and Montreal will host Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2026 calendar, alongside Formula 1 – the first time the Championship will race in North America. The opportunity for Miami and Montreal to join the F2 calendar has come about following the news that the Sakhir and Jeddah Rounds will not take place in April. The FIA Formula 2 championship will go to Miami, USA, on May 1-3 for what will be the second Round of the 2026 season, followed by Montreal, Canada on May 22-24, as Round 3, before returning to Europe, starting with Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on June 04-07. Stefano Domenicali, President & CEO of Formula 1, said: “While it has not been possible to go ahead with the two races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia this month, and we look forward to being back with our passionate fans there as soon as possible, it is great news for our fans, the drivers and the teams that Formula 2 will be racing in Miami and Montreal. Bruno and the whole F2 family have done a great job, working closely with us, the FIA, and the Miami and Montreal promoters, to ensure we limit the gap in racing for the championship this season and I want to thank them for making this possible. It is going to be fantastic to restart the racing in a few weeks' time and to have F2 alongside Formula 1 as we return to the US for the first time this season.” Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, said: “Following the necessary changes to the calendar at the start of the season, the addition of these new rounds ensures the FIA Formula 2 Championship remains strong and balanced, and able to deliver for our teams, drivers and fans. Bringing the championship to North America via Miami and Montreal for the first time marks an important step in its continued global growth, strengthening the pathway alongside Formula One and connecting with new audiences. I thank all those who worked tirelessly to make these rounds possible. “Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the ongoing events in the Middle East and we continue to hope for a swift return to stability. We look forward to racing in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia very soon.” Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, said: “We always love to race in Sakhir and Jeddah, and we wish them well and look forward to returning to both as soon as circumstances allow. We are now going to Miami and Montreal for the second and third rounds of the 2026 season, respectively. I would like to thank Stefano Domenicali and Formula 1 for their support in making this possible, and also the FIA, the promoters of the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix, and of course my team, who have worked hard to put in place two new Rounds in such a short amount of time. It was not an easy thing to do, but bringing F2 to North America for the first time is really fantastic. It's something we have been wanting to do for a long time, and it enables us to ensure we're back racing as quickly as possible. It will be a great new challenge for our teams and our drivers, who have all welcomed the news with enthusiasm. I am certain that the quality of racing will bring a lot of excitement to the fans and to everyone attending both Grands Prix.” Revised 2026 FIA Formula 2 Championship Calendar Date Venue 06-08 March Melbourne, Australia 01-03 May Miami, USA* 22-24 May Montreal, Canada* 04-07 June Monte-Carlo, Monaco 12-14 June Barcelona, Spain 26-28 June Spielberg, Austria 03-05 July Silverstone, Great Britain 17-19 July Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium 24-26 July Budapest, Hungary 04-06 September Monza, Italy 11-13 September Madrid, Spain** 24-26 September Baku, Azerbaijan 27-29 November Lusail, Qatar 04-06 December Yas Island, UAE ASTON MARTIN ARAMCO FORMULA ONE™ TEAM EXPANDS DRIVER ACADEMY LINE-UP, WELCOMING AVA LAWRENCE & ROLAND NAGY AMRTC, UK, 9 April 2026: The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team is pleased to announce the expansion of its Driver Academy, welcoming DPK Racing karters Ava Lawrence and Roland Nagy to the programme. Track limits, leaving the track and gaining an advantage, causing a collision, not leaving space at apexes, marshals on track with cars at full speed, contentious VSC on the penultimate lap, maybe at some point we'll get some racing in? The Mexican Grand Prix this year wasn't the best day for F1 race direction and the ever rotating cast of stewards. Amongst all the controversy we still got one of the best races of the season with battles going on all the way down the grid, even Lance Stroll managed to get a clean overtake in (if that doesn't say it's the end of days, I don't know what does.) And through all that, the 3 way battle for the championship is still going on and going down to the wire. This week on the podcast we look back at the Mexican Grand Prix where Lando Norris managed to re-take the lead in the Word Driver's Championship for the first time since before the Suadi Arabian GP, after a very off the boil start to the weekend for team-mate and rival Oscar Piastri. But you can't forget the looming shadow of Max Vertappen, who is still up there too.As always there's some attempts at predictions for how the rest of the season is going to pan out as we've still got 4 races and 2 sprints to go and it's really anyone's guess as to who is going to walk away with the 2025 crown. Doesn't stop us having a go though! Also, sorry for missing last week after the US GP, but we were victims of the Amazon outage last Monday and it took until Wednesday to get things recovered properlyAnd if you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with.
The Mexican Grand Prix had everything: chaos at Turn 1, virtual safety car controversy, and a championship battle that just keeps getting messier. This week on The Fast Ones, Max and Mike unpack Lando Norris's brilliant win (and even better radio shade), George Russell's mid-race meltdown, and Oscar Piastri's quiet but impressive comeback drive. We'll break down the Turn 1 shuffle — who cut the corner, who got penalized, and who somehow didn't — and celebrate Haas hero Ollie Bearman for delivering his best result yet: P4, matching the team's all-time high. It's a weekend of papaya heartbreak, British radio whine, and one of the best Mexican GPs we've had in years.Buckle up. The energy in Mexico City was electric, and we're bringing all of it straight to your ears.

Lando Norris defies his reputation for sub-par starts to put in a superb defence of pole at the Mexico City Grand Prix leaving the rest of the competition – and his team mate over half a minute away at the flag. Only Ollie Bearman could mimic the stunning performance, giving Haas a much-needed boost in the battle for a constructor's sixth place. LANDO NORRIS DANCES THE CUCARACHA IN MEXICO! MAX GETS THE "NO WAY JOSE" ON LECLERC, GEORGE GETS A LITTLE EXCITED, THE VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR WAS TOTALLY BOGUS!! AND PIASTRI NO LONGER LEADS THE CHAMPIONSHIP. NASIR HAMEED CORNER HAS... ESTEBAN GUTIERREZ, ANTONIO PIZZONIA AND TEAM OWNER TREVOR CARLIN. GRACIAS. MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - OCTOBER 26: Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain driving the (44) Scuderia Ferrari SF-25 Charles Leclerc of Monaco driving the (16) Scuderia Ferrari SF-25 and Max Verstappen of the Netherlands driving the (1) Oracle Red Bull Racing RB21 battle for track position at the start during the F1 Grand Prix of Mexico at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on October 26, 2025 in Mexico City, Mexico. (Photo by Clive Rose/Getty Images) Orcale Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen drove a battling race from fifth on the grid to secure thid place in the Mexican Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, finishing just 0.725s behind second place as he fought all the way to the chequered flag in his hunt for more points in the 2025 Drivers' Championship fight. Starting fifth, Verstappen made a fast start, but ran wide in Turn 1 as he tried to thread his way into the top three. The Dutchman recovered quickly and fought hard to put his RB21 on the podium as McLaren driver Lando Norris drove to a comfortable win. Verstappen's late race charge to catch runner-up Charles Leclerc came down to the very last lap of the race, but the Ferrari driver just held on by 0.725s to leave Verstappen third. In the race for the 2025 Driver's Championship Verstappen gained more ground on the two McLaren drivers ahead of him however. Norris overtook team-mate Oscar Piastri to assume the championship lead by a single point on 357, but Verstappen closed the gap from 40 points to 36 with just four races now remaining. Team-mate Yuki Tsunoda just missed the points in 11th place, losing a position from his starting slot on the grid, while Visa Cash App Racing Bulls saw only Isack Hadjar finish in 13th after Liam Lawson suffered a DNF after just five laps onf the Grand Prix. LANDO: “I could just keep my eyes focused, I could just keep eyes forward and just focus on what I was doing. “A pretty straightforward race for me, which is just what I was after. Good start, good launch, good first lap and I could go from there.” “This is awesome here... this is unbelievable. My first win here in Mexico, a beautiful one to win, especially here in the stadium. A big thanks to all the fans.”myself, I keep my head down, I ignore all of this [noise] and I keep to myself. It's working at the minute, so I'm happy.” GEORGE: That was a frustrating afternoon. At the start, three drivers cut over the grass at turn one and either kept or gained positions without penalty. I stayed on the track but lost out, unfortunately. That also happened when Lewis (Hamilton) and Max (Verstappen) were battling; when the Red Bull came back on the track, I had to take avoiding action, go off track, and lost several positions myself. Those two moments were ultimately the undoing of our race. From there, it was difficult being stuck in a train of cars and in particular, with the dirty air. We inverted the cars to try and maximise the team result but ultimately we just didn't have the pace to fight our way forward. We've got four races to go and need to regain some momentum if we are to emerge ahead in the battle for second in the Constructors' Championship. We're relishing that fight and looking forward to Brazil. FERNANDO: "It was a difficult race for me, and we've struggled for pace all weekend. We had a good start but then there was some contact which caused minor damage to the front wing. I was also surprised to see a few cars cutting the corner at the start, jumping ahead of us and not getting penalties. Unfortunately, about halfway through the race we had to retire the car as a precaution. Hopefully we can have more luck in the future." MAX: “I didn't expect to be on the podium today, it was quite eventful at the beginning and I had a good start. However, I went into the kerb, started bottoming out, avoided the wall by going on the grass and got back on to the track. It was quite hectic and the grip wasn't there on the Medium tyre, we quickly realised it wasn't a great tyre and tried to extend on it as much as we could. As soon as I was on the Soft tyre it felt better and we were more competitive. We did the perfect strategy, really optimised the final stint and I was enjoying it. At the end with the virtual safety car, it was unfortunate timing but sometimes it works for you and sometimes it doesn't and that is just racing, but it would have been an exciting finish. I have said before that we need everything to go perfectly for the rest of the season and it wasn't perfect this weekend, so we will just need to continue optimising our performance as much as we can. However, even with a difficult weekend, to still be on the podium is a great result. We need to analyse everything and see what we can do better to come back stronger: it will be tough but we will give it everything that we can.” LAURENT: “Well done to the whole Team for never giving up on a weekend when we have been struggling a bit more than we wanted with the car. Everyone pushed hard to get to a better place and the support we got from Milton Keynes and here trackside was very strong. It was never quite enough to fight for the win here but allowed us to get another important podium with Max. His drive made the strategy work very well for us, so very well done to the strategy team because we committed to a difficult one-stop while starting on a very tricky Medium tyre, his second stint was mega, he didn't let the pace drop and what he managed to extract from the car was what we needed to make the race work. He was taking six to seven tenths out of Charles per lap and we would have had a proper fight in the last few laps without the VSC. It is part of the game, we don't control the VSC, and it's cost us a nice battle to watch and perhaps a few points. The pace from Yuki was also fast today, especially his first stint on the Medium. Unfortunately we had a fairly long pitstop with him, which is not the sort of thing which usually happens with our super strong pit crew.” Thinking of you Nasir...

Liam Lawson endured another tough weekend at the Mexican Grand Prix. After narrowly missing marshals who were stood on the track, he was forced to retire on the opening lap following a collision with Williams driver Carlos Sainz. This marks Lawson's 5th DNF of the season, and it comes as Red Bull are expected to make an announcement on their driver line-up next year. Bob McMurray told Mike Hosking that all the junior drivers can do is wait for the announcement. 'To be in, when Red Bull holds all the cards, they have your contract, you can't do anything else...it's got to be the worst situation for junior drivers.' As Lando keeps his title fight alive, the team discuss if Verstappen was 'dangerous' and if he can rely on talent rather than on-track aggression. Liam Lawson has publicly apologised to Sergio Perez after giving the Red Bull driver the middle finger during the Mexican Grand Prix.
Welcome back to the Track Limits Podcast! Tune in with Henny, Niru, Claudia and Mikey as they unpack all the highlights from the recently concluded Mexican Grand Prix. The Mexican Grand Prix, Checo Perez's home race, was set up as his chance to shine, but Red Bull faced early challenges as both drivers struggled with balance and lacked pace during practice. Qualifying saw Checo exit in Q1, while Max Verstappen exceeded expectations with a P2 finish, surprising many who hadn't expected him so high up the grid. Ferrari, coming off a strong 1-2 finish in Austin, aimed to keep their winning streak alive. From practice, they showed impressive race pace, with Carlos Sainz delivering a remarkable qualifying lap that no one could match. Although he lost the lead to Max at the race start, a well-timed move following the safety car allowed Carlos to reclaim the lead from Max, which he held onto until the finish. The rivalry between Max and Lando heated up in this race, with Max's erratic driving nearly causing both drivers to DNF. The incident ultimately resulted in a 20-second penalty for Max, while Lando, delayed by the battle, missed the chance to challenge the Ferraris until the closing laps. With both championships now at stake, every inch and every point counts as both teams rely on their drivers to maximize points. With one race left in the triple-header, including a sprint, there's a lot on the line. Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling review a news-heavy Day 2 at the Mexican Grand Prix. It took six hours to settle after the day's running was done, but the stewards rejected McLaren's Right to Review into Lando Norris' Austin Penalty. McLaren argued that Norris' was so far ahead of Max Verstappen going into Turn 12 that Max was the attacker and not the defender, but the duo explain why that wasn't considered "new evidence" in the eyes of the stewards. F1 also had an extended 90-minute Pirelli Tyre Test for FP2, with Carlos Sainz fastest overall on the day's running, with George Russell in the wall for the second time in six days with a hard shunt in Sector 2. Stuart breaks down what Pirelli are trying to achieve with their 2025 tyres, and why a new experimental "C6" softer compound might be left on the cutting room floor. Learn more about your ad choices. Alex Kalinauckas and Mark Mann-Bryans discuss the United States Grand Prix from the track itself as Ferrari would dominate proceedings with a 1-2 finish, with Charles Leclerc taking his third win of the 2024 season.
