Jonathan Noble and Filip Cleeren react to Practise and Sprint Qualifying on Friday of the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix. Jonathan explains how the predictions of Interlagos' new abrasive resurfacing run true, as thermal degradation and a lack of tyre sets have led to difficulty in controlling the driver's cars. What the drivers weren't expecting though, was the surface of the track becoming very bumpy There was the breaking news drop in the morning of Ollie Bearman coming in at the last minute to replace an ill Kevin Magnussen for the weekend, and the Brit impressed again, outqualifying Nico Hulkenberg and making the final round of Sprint Qualifying. And during SQ3, it was Oscar Piastri who went fastest on his final hotlap attempt in a McLaren 1-2 ahead of teammate Lando Norris. Will McLaren play team orders tomorrow? Red Bull decides to strike McLaren where it matters most: their coveted driver lineup and a certain Oscar Piastri. Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsOscar Piastri has found himself at the center of shocking Red Bull rumors! Could McLaren's breakout star really be considering a switch to the team of Max Verstappen, or is Red Bull just playing mind games with McLaren? This new development brings major questions about McLaren's driver lineup, as well as Piastri's long-term potential within the team.As tensions continue to build between McLaren and Red Bull, the pressure is on for team boss Zak Brown to protect his talented young driver. McLaren ask Oscar Piastri to support his teammate, Lando Norris...why am I not convinced that will last?Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsMcLaren has officially backed Lando Norris in his pursuit of the championship, but this decision might not be as clear-cut as it seems. With Oscar Piastri being asked to support Norris for now, many are questioning the timing of this call and whether McLaren acted too late. Team principal Andrea Stella admits this backing may only be temporary, as future performances could shift the focus back to Piastri, sparking even more intrigue and competition within the team. Adding to the complexity, there are conflicting views between Stella and McLaren CEO Zak Brown, with each seemingly favoring a different driver.Oscar Piastri has agreed to follow the team strategy, despite expressing some disappointment. However, McLaren's approach remains flexible, and future results from races like the Baku Grand Prix could change the narrative completely. McLaren might have the best driver lineup, but that could easily change if not handled properly. Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsMcLaren's future may be on the brink of a major shake-up, with tensions brewing between star drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as they battle for dominance on the team. With complex contract conditions and no clear team orders in place, McLaren's refusal to make bold strategic moves could create a rift that leads one or both drivers to consider leaving by 2026. Zak Brown seems to be preparing for all possibilities, potentially even bringing Brazilian talent back to the team after 30 years. Will McLaren be able to navigate these challenges and stay at the top, or are they heading for an explosive internal showdown?Meanwhile, McLaren is already eyeing the future with rising star Gabriel Boretto, positioning him as a key player in their driver lineup. As the F1 driver's market heats up over the next few years, both Norris and Piastri could seek opportunities elsewhere, opening the door for fresh talent to take the lead. With McLaren's cautious approach potentially hurting driver morale, 2025 and 2026 will be critical for the team's championship ambitions. Hot off the heels of the drama from the Hungarian GP, F1 now heads to one of the most iconic tracks on the calendar. Will McLaren fix their strategy issues? Could the cooler temps mean we could see Mercedes fighting for a win again? Will Max Verstappen bounce back from a terrible outing last weekend??
Mercedes has never won "three in a row" in this era of Formula 1. Can they claim this stat by winning the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix? Based on the 2024 British Grand Prix, Mercedes is one the fastest teams in Formula 1, if not the fastest. But of course, they won the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix only because Max Verstappen-Lando Norris had a fallout on track (and George Russell was 15 seconds behind the lead pair). Of all the current teams, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have the best stats for the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix in the last decade! Hungaroring was built to mimic the circuit of Monaco, and it isn't surprising that the technical requirements (high downforce!) have labelled this circuit just outside of Budapest as "Monaco without the walls". Will Red Bull Racing be troubled at the Hungaroring as they were in Monaco? Will McLaren be as quick - as they've been everywhere, and will this be the race they finally start delivering "perfect" races, and what about Ferrari? The team that won in Monaco; will they be back in the fight at "Monaco without the walls"? The drivers silly season might see some announcements - Esteban Ocon to Haas to be finally confirmed? As for the others, all eyes on Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez - the two big movers in the market. Yes, Perez has a signed contract for the next two season (2025 and 2026), but given his current form and struggles to resurrect, one wonders if Red Bull Racing will take up their option on the "performance clause" that is often rumoured. Does Formula 1 actually have a 4-team battle for wins hereon? OR will it be a case of different teams challenging Red Bull Racing's supremacy in 2024? Is Mercedes actually back? And can Ferrari bounce back after their debacle in Canada? Will McLaren deliver error-free weekends to continue to maximise their chances? The 2024 Spanish Grand Prix will answer a lot of questions. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah start by answering why the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is the best benchmark for assessing the performance of a Formula 1 car. Yes, this is a phrase we will hear all weekend long! Will Esteban Ocon and Alpine's toxicity continue? Will Lewis Hamilton continue to deliver cryptic messages post-Qualifying? Will Carlos Sainz continue his 100% scoring record at his home race in Spain AND can he stop Charles Leclerc from out-qualifying him for the 6th race in succession. Will Alpine actually ditch the Renault power-unit, and could life come a full circle if Alpine are powered by Red Bull Power Trains come 2026? And of course, we've got our bold predictions for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix. Tune in! Charles Leclerc has finally achieved his childhood dream of winning at home. The Monegasque driver produced one of his strongest weekends in Formula 1 to convert a sensational pole position into an emotional Monaco Grand Prix victory. So what does Leclerc's win mean for his and Ferrari's championship challenge? In the Monte Carlo paddock, Tom Clarkson is joined by Fox Sports Mexico journalist Diego Mejia to discuss just how significant this result is for the whole season, with Ferrari test driver Marc Gene telling us the secrets to Leclerc's speed on the streets of the Principality. Also on the F1 Nation agenda: who was at fault for the huge crash between Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen on lap 1? Could Carlos Sainz go to Williams? Will McLaren be competitive everywhere this year? And what did Lewis Hamilton's comments over the weekend reveal about his position at Mercedes? Plus, Alpine Team Principal Bruno Famin said there will be ‘consequences' for Esteban Ocon after his crash with teammate Pierre Gasly - what could they be?

Will Red Bull Racing reveal their decision from the investigation into Christian Horner's alleged misdemeanours at Formula 1's opening race in Bahrain? What's your take, will Horner continue in his role at the World Champion team or will he be asked to go? Of course, any off-track story of such a nature will take attention from Red Bull Racing's RB20, if it continues to dominate Formula 1. But can it, will it? The narratives at the start of the season could well be different from the middle and the end of the long Formula 1 season. In fact, the pecking order itself might be different in Bahrain given the extensive mileage all teams have had in the last week or so. The other key question is about Alpine. Welcome back to Unlapped!! ESPN's Laurence Edmondson, Nate Saunders and Spencer Hall are here for a special season review after an exciting 2023 formula 1 season. Red Bull had one of the most dominant seasons in F1 history, but could that be a problem going forward for the sport? Can Mercedes or Ferrari make big strides after their 2023 seasons to compete with Red Bull? Will McLaren keep the momentum going after a strong second half from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Plus, how Daniel Ricciardo will be looking to impress early in 2024 with all eyes on Sergio Perez and how he will start after an up and down season for the Mexican driver. Katie George and Nate Saunders are back ahead of the Qatar Grand prix. Max Verstappen is on the doorstep of clinching his 3rd straight drivers' championship, but will he do so in the sprint race on a Saturday? Michael Andretti's hopes of joining the F1 grid soon receives a boost of confidence after the FIA approved of the teams bid to join. Will McLaren keep up their strong form and challenge Red Bull for a race win? Who will come out on top between the two teams battling for P2 in the constructors' standings, Ferrari, or Mercedes? Plus, Nate provides an update on the status of Daniel Ricciardo and when he expects Ricciardo to return. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We expect discussions and dissonance around Andretti's entry in Formula 1 to hijack all stories from the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, including Max Verstappen's impending 3rd Formula 1 World Championship. But does Formula 1 need an 11th team? We're split in our judgment and opinion. On sporting grounds, we agree that an 11th team will do wonders for Formula 1 and upcoming young talent. But from a business perspective, it's tricky - that's where we had peak disagreement despite having no vested interests in Andretti's entry. Why should the existing 10 teams agree to devalue their business? Why is Andretti interested in Formula 1 only now? Is the FIA pressurising Liberty Media to enter into an agreement with Andretti by making their (acceptance) stance public? Lots of interesting discussions that will hopefully give you a better understanding of the messy situation that Formula 1 faces with Andretti. And of course, this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast is also the official preview episode for the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix. A sprint race weekend, a fast-flowy circuit, and is resurfaced, re-kerbed and will offer a challenge via different track temperatures and of course, the first time running of the ground-effect cars. Will Ferrari's better tyre degradation prevail? Is Mercedes' claim that Ferrari have better tyre degradation since the summer break true? Will McLaren continue to eat into Aston Martin's points gap to 4th place? We reckon McLaren will continue to be the team closest to Red Bull Racing this weekend, too. A new circuit, different challenges...and lots of sports washing. Tune in! Goin into his race weekend there are many questions to be answered. Has Red Bull been derailed by technical directives or team developments? Will McLaren show up and convert updates into more podiums? Will Liam Lawson contribute to the new expectations of what rookies will be expected to do when landing a Formula 1 seat? Lets kick this off.
The Formula 1 circus travels Far East to race in Suzuka, one of the most-legendary circuits on the calendar. The Japanese Formula 1 fans are special for their love for the sport transcends team-driver boundaries. But of course, they've got Yuki Tsunoda to cheer for, for yet another race. But will he be there in 2024? Should an extension announcement come this weekend? The key question, though, is - will Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen resume their dominant ways? OR has the 'flexi' technical directive literally slowed them down this much? Will Charles Leclerc bounce back at Ferrari? We can't recollect when last was he out-qualified and out-scored by a team-mate for three races in row. Yes, Carlos Sainz has been in splendid form post-summer break. What about Aston Martin? Will McLaren catch them by the end of the season in the Constructors' Championship? And of course, Alpine needs to resurrect form and luck as well, not necessarily in that order though. Suzuka is a gorgeous circuit, the corners are iconic, technical and fast-flowy. There's every reason that the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix will be a belter! Tune in. After what's felt like an eternity, the Track Talk trio can finally preview a Formula 1 race weekend! The 2023 season kicks off in Bahrain this week and there's plenty to be excited about. Will Red Bull continue to dominate? Can Aston Martin upset the odds? Will McLaren struggle? We take you through all the uncertainties and provide our usual predictions. We also have another thought-provoking debate about the driver market, with some very intriguing opinions.
It's the final race of the season and for the second season running, we have 2 drivers tied on points entering the finale... sort of! Charles LeClerc and Sergio Perez will battle it out for P2 in the Drivers' standings, so perhaps much ado about nothing! The remaining battles are in the constructors, where mathematically, every team besides Red Bull could move up or down based on the results of Sunday's race! What will happen in the final duel in the desert this weekend? Will McLaren produce a performance to overtake Alpine after a disastrous Sao Paulo Grand Prix? Will Mercedes steal P2 from Ferrari? Thousands of Dutch fans would've left Spa disappointed. After all, their star driver crashed out on the opening lap. In Monza, an opening lap half-spin followed by Sergio Perez's Racing Point's straight-line advantage prevented us from witnessing a Max Verstappen masterclass. After all, the Red Bull racer started from the back after taking on an upgraded Honda power unit. Nevertheless, Formula 1 fans were greeted with Charles Leclerc's top-quality drive as he won for Ferrari in front of the tifosi. Also in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast (http://bit.ly/insidelinef1podcast) , we introduce a new section - What Nico Said This Week. #F1 makes its annual jump across the pond for a brief stint in North America. The Merc 1/2 streak was broken by Verstappen in Monaco, but the heavy power track will prove tough sledding for Red Bull and Ferrari. Can Vettel match his win in Canada a year ago? Will McLaren continue their recent dominance in the midfield? Who's bringing upgrades???? Preview the #CanadianGP right here with us!
The first official pre-season test of the 2019 Formula 1 season has only just concluded. Apart from Ferrari and Alfa Romeo's radically different (and similar?) front wings, what was our highlight of the test? This Ferrari engineer spying the Mclaren car in a not so spy-like manner. Given how testing form goes, we say that spying is the best form of flattery. Will Mclaren use this image in their sponsor presentations for the season? In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we also talk about the other struggling Formula 1 veteran team, Williams and why it is important that fans rally in support of rather than succumb to jokes on the struggling former World Champion team. Finally, we sum up the news from the test, Rich Energy's desperate and embarrassing attempts to compete with Red Bull and how Renault needs to do better for Daniel Ricciardo, on and off track. Spanners leads Trumpets, Sparkles, Jake Sanson and Nick Alexander on a look at testing followed by relentlessly unfounded speculation about how it will all shake out in Australia. What's going on my Sexiest Mofo's!!! I appreciate all of the suggestions this week. Here's what we ended up discussing: If you were going to take a long road trip, which would you take: Pagani or Koenigsegg?; I picked up my AMG GTR, but now I don't know what to do with it!; Where does the AMG GTR fit in the auto world?; Will Mclaren actually collab with someone else soon & will they give me an SUV?; My plans for another bespoke car!; Farshad's good news, bad news! Hope you guys enjoy!
In the wake of the Italian Grand Prix, Cheeka, Phill and Terry talk grid penalties, shitty poetry and disappointing Ferraris. Will Mercedes now dominate? Will McLaren sign with Renault? Will anyone hire that random drummer girl again? Literally none of these questions are answered, as per usual.
We're back! After a couple of week's break, we're back with this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. Red Bull Racing has publicly supported Sebastian Vettel in his title battle against Lewis Hamilton. Will Mclaren come out in support of Lewis Hamilton too? Reports suggest that Vettel is keen on a 1-year contract extension with Ferrari. Is this a learning from Fernando Alonso's Ferrari career, or to leave a door open for a Schumacheresque switch to Mercedes? Btw, our friend and listener, Lucien, shares an interesting numeric perspective on Ferrari's use of team orders in Hungary. Will Formula 1 and Formula E merge someday? Can Formula 1 become Formula E by just switching to electric motors? And with the 'halo', is Formula 1 moving towards 'closed cockpits'? We discuss these points while applauding manufacturers' interests in the all-electric series which is garnering fan interest slowly and steadily. And apart from our humourous and funny 'Mclaren-Honda-Alonso' section, we also have an 'I Know What You Did This Summer' section. Tune in!
