Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling wrap up their coverage of the Mexico Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen took the headlines again after receiving two 10-second time penalties for leaving the track and gaining an advantage while racing title rival Lando Norris on Lap 10. Alex and Stuart discuss the driving standards at play, team bosses Christian Horner and Helmut Marko's defence of Verstappen's actions, and what the paddock thinks of the World Champion's aggressive driving. There's also a discussion on race winner Carlos Sainz, who dominated the race en route to a 1-3 finish for Ferrari, reducing their Constructor's Championship deficit to 29 points, with Charles Leclerc nearly crashing into the wall at the final corner trying to defend from Norris' pressure. Welcome back to the Track Limits Podcast! Tune in with Henny, Niru, Claudia and Mikey as they unpack all the highlights from the recently concluded Mexican Grand Prix. The Mexican Grand Prix, Checo Perez's home race, was set up as his chance to shine, but Red Bull faced early challenges as both drivers struggled with balance and lacked pace during practice. Qualifying saw Checo exit in Q1, while Max Verstappen exceeded expectations with a P2 finish, surprising many who hadn't expected him so high up the grid. Ferrari, coming off a strong 1-2 finish in Austin, aimed to keep their winning streak alive. From practice, they showed impressive race pace, with Carlos Sainz delivering a remarkable qualifying lap that no one could match. Although he lost the lead to Max at the race start, a well-timed move following the safety car allowed Carlos to reclaim the lead from Max, which he held onto until the finish. The rivalry between Max and Lando heated up in this race, with Max's erratic driving nearly causing both drivers to DNF. The incident ultimately resulted in a 20-second penalty for Max, while Lando, delayed by the battle, missed the chance to challenge the Ferraris until the closing laps. With both championships now at stake, every inch and every point counts as both teams rely on their drivers to maximize points. With one race left in the triple-header, including a sprint, there's a lot on the line. In this episode we talk about the Mexican GP - we talk about the battles, the wars, the winners, the losers - and of course, all the drama.
An exciting Mexican GP that saw a lot of passes, and strong drive from Sainz and Ferrari underlying they have the fastest car out there currently. Max and Norris had two tough battles on the track, and Max received two different penalties for 20 Secs. Norris got a strong 2nd place to gain 10 pts on Max. There were very questionable aggressive moves from Max that could have taken out both drivers out. Mercedes had a strong recovery drive to round up 4th and 5th. Magnussen in the Haas also had a very strong weekend.
Send us a textFerrari wins for the second time in 7 days, but this time it's Carlos Sainz getting the 4th win of his career and 2nd of the season in crushing fashion. Lando Norris comes in 2nd to tighten the gap between himself and Max Verstappen, as Max has a day to forget, and potentially an anger management course to take.#mexicogp #f1 #Ferrari

The main story of the day is the contiuned fall out from McLaren's rejected "Right to Review" on Lando Norris' Austin penalty as the FIA announce they'll be revising their rules on overtaking in the near future, likely for the 2025 season in collaborative effort with the drivers. Alex talks at length on the differences of opinion in the paddock in regards to the news. Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling review a news-heavy Day 2 at the Mexican Grand Prix. It took six hours to settle after the day's running was done, but the stewards rejected McLaren's Right to Review into Lando Norris' Austin Penalty. McLaren argued that Norris' was so far ahead of Max Verstappen going into Turn 12 that Max was the attacker and not the defender, but the duo explain why that wasn't considered "new evidence" in the eyes of the stewards. F1 also had an extended 90-minute Pirelli Tyre Test for FP2, with Carlos Sainz fastest overall on the day's running, with George Russell in the wall for the second time in six days with a hard shunt in Sector 2. Stuart breaks down what Pirelli are trying to achieve with their 2025 tyres, and why a new experimental "C6" softer compound might be left on the cutting room floor. Learn more about your ad choices. Ferrari scored a surprise one-two finish in the United States last week to set up another thrilling battle for this weekend's Mexico Grand Prix. The stage is set at Formula 1's highest track: Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. It sits over 2200m above sea level and is challenging for teams and drivers due to the thinner air which saps engine power and can cause altitude sickness for drivers. All eyes will be on Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull as they battle at the apex of the grid. With five races remaining, Ferrari are only 48 points behind first-placed McLaren in the constructors' standings. Bet Central's Sean Parker is joined by Mary-Anne Wakefield to preview the Mexico GP.
Graham and Luke return as F1 finally makes its return with a fascinating, controversial US Grand Prix. This week we talk: Red Bull's front bib row (1:22) Sprint weekend dynamics: upgrades, Sprint Qualifying, Sprint race takeaways (8:45) Norris again rattled under pressure, Marko's Norris comments and mental weaknesses behind the wheel (14:50) Ferrari's long-run pace comes through for easy 1-2 (21:25) Verstappen vs Norris: Qualifying, lap 1 incident, last laps battle, the penalty, Norris' weaknesses highlighted, and the “title fight” (30:49) Haas' notable step forward (49:04) Lawson and Colapinto's long runs pay off (53:46) Gasly's undeserved final result (57:52) Russell recovery and other midfield recaps (61:56) Perez's unideal weekend (62:58) Mercedes' weekend spirals out of control (64:36) Stewarding mess (69:23) Aston Martin again underdeliver (71:11) Alex Albon Fraud Watch and closing thoughts from the US GP (73:29) F1 to scrap fastest lap point (77:50) FIA to offset cost-cap for Audi for 2026 (80:25) Mexico GP preview (86:00)
Time for the Brazil Grand Prix! The weekend included a biblical storm that somehow didn't show up on anyone's weather radar (Karen Smith would have more success than an F1 team with a weather radar), Charles once again falling victim to his curse (the Monaco Witch strikes again), and Max joined by two of his favorite recurring guests Lando and Fernando. Where does Red Bull go with Checo now? They discuss. Red Bull rumors are flying around the paddock but when should we take them seriously? With another dominant win for Max Verstappen, the rest of the field had an amazing race to try to catch up in their own races that they have for the rest of the season. Dan breaks down the circuit at Interlagos and how the race will work out for some of these teams who have millions at stake in the constructors race. Plus, more drama in the rumors of drivers being fired or changing teams for 2024.
