Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling wrap up their coverage of the Mexico Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen took the headlines again after receiving two 10-second time penalties for leaving the track and gaining an advantage while racing title rival Lando Norris on Lap 10. Alex and Stuart discuss the driving standards at play, team bosses Christian Horner and Helmut Marko's defence of Verstappen's actions, and what the paddock thinks of the World Champion's aggressive driving. There's also a discussion on race winner Carlos Sainz, who dominated the race en route to a 1-3 finish for Ferrari, reducing their Constructor's Championship deficit to 29 points, with Charles Leclerc nearly crashing into the wall at the final corner trying to defend from Norris' pressure. Welcome back to the Track Limits Podcast! Tune in with Henny, Niru, Claudia and Mikey as they unpack all the highlights from the recently concluded Mexican Grand Prix. The Mexican Grand Prix, Checo Perez's home race, was set up as his chance to shine, but Red Bull faced early challenges as both drivers struggled with balance and lacked pace during practice. Qualifying saw Checo exit in Q1, while Max Verstappen exceeded expectations with a P2 finish, surprising many who hadn't expected him so high up the grid. Ferrari, coming off a strong 1-2 finish in Austin, aimed to keep their winning streak alive. From practice, they showed impressive race pace, with Carlos Sainz delivering a remarkable qualifying lap that no one could match. Although he lost the lead to Max at the race start, a well-timed move following the safety car allowed Carlos to reclaim the lead from Max, which he held onto until the finish. The rivalry between Max and Lando heated up in this race, with Max's erratic driving nearly causing both drivers to DNF. The incident ultimately resulted in a 20-second penalty for Max, while Lando, delayed by the battle, missed the chance to challenge the Ferraris until the closing laps. With both championships now at stake, every inch and every point counts as both teams rely on their drivers to maximize points. With one race left in the triple-header, including a sprint, there's a lot on the line. In this episode we talk about the Mexican GP - we talk about the battles, the wars, the winners, the losers - and of course, all the drama.
Send us a textFerrari wins for the second time in 7 days, but this time it's Carlos Sainz getting the 4th win of his career and 2nd of the season in crushing fashion. Lando Norris comes in 2nd to tighten the gap between himself and Max Verstappen, as Max has a day to forget, and potentially an anger management course to take.#mexicogp #f1 #Ferrari
An exciting Mexican GP that saw a lot of passes, and strong drive from Sainz and Ferrari underlying they have the fastest car out there currently. Max and Norris had two tough battles on the track, and Max received two different penalties for 20 Secs. Norris got a strong 2nd place to gain 10 pts on Max. There were very questionable aggressive moves from Max that could have taken out both drivers out. Mercedes had a strong recovery drive to round up 4th and 5th. Magnussen in the Haas also had a very strong weekend.
Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling sit down and review Saturday's news from on and off the track at the Mexican Grand Prix. The main story of the day is the contiuned fall out from McLaren's rejected "Right to Review" on Lando Norris' Austin penalty as the FIA announce they'll be revising their rules on overtaking in the near future, likely for the 2025 season in collaborative effort with the drivers. Alex talks at length on the differences of opinion in the paddock in regards to the news. There's also a quick word on qualifying as Carlos Sainz dominated to take pole position, with the Spaniard's two best laps good enough for the front of the grid, as well as the two shock eliminations in Q1 for home hero Sergio Perez, and McLaren's Oscar Piastri. Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling review a news-heavy Day 2 at the Mexican Grand Prix. It took six hours to settle after the day's running was done, but the stewards rejected McLaren's Right to Review into Lando Norris' Austin Penalty. McLaren argued that Norris' was so far ahead of Max Verstappen going into Turn 12 that Max was the attacker and not the defender, but the duo explain why that wasn't considered "new evidence" in the eyes of the stewards. F1 also had an extended 90-minute Pirelli Tyre Test for FP2, with Carlos Sainz fastest overall on the day's running, with George Russell in the wall for the second time in six days with a hard shunt in Sector 2. Stuart breaks down what Pirelli are trying to achieve with their 2025 tyres, and why a new experimental "C6" softer compound might be left on the cutting room floor. Learn more about your ad choices. Today we talk about and discuss the Mexico GP and make our predictions for the weekend!
In the first of four days coverage straight from the track itself, Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling Review Media Day in Mexico City, as McLaren made late headlines via lodging a Right to Review into the Lando Norris time penalty in Austin that cost him a podium finish. The duo break down why McLaren's changed their mind and what could be the "new and significant" evidence that could led to a second hearing a potential overturning of the penalty, as well as hear what the other drivers opinions on the overtaking regulations are. The Mexico GRand Prix had some moments in it for sure. Max continues to believe things are all about him. Checo goes Mad Max and ruins the race for his fans. Fans go crazy and start fighting. Pick one of many things that happen in the Mexico GP. But, don't point out that Lance Stroll is still subpar. Lawrence Stroll isn't trying to hear it.

This week on the podcast, Dan Jimenez and Alex Kirry run through the wild Mexico GP that saw a bad crash in the first turn that took Checo Perez out of his home race in less than a minute. Where does Red Bull go with Checo now? They discuss. Red Bull rumors are flying around the paddock but when should we take them seriously? With another dominant win for Max Verstappen, the rest of the field had an amazing race to try to catch up in their own races that they have for the rest of the season. Dan breaks down the circuit at Interlagos and how the race will work out for some of these teams who have millions at stake in the constructors race. Plus, more drama in the rumors of drivers being fired or changing teams for 2024.

The irony of it...! Daniel Ricciardo's perfect audition for Sergio Perez's seat at Red Bull Racing came at Perez's home race! A race in which Perez made an audaciously overambitious move at Turn 1 of the opening lap; a move that he thought would make him win the race. Instead, he found himself launched mid-air after colliding with Charles Leclerc's Ferrari. In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah review the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix. Max Verstappen won both the races in Mexico - with rocket-like starts, to start with. Lewis Hamilton finished second to Verstappen again, only that this time around, his Mercedes W14 was legal. Yes, it passed all post-race scrutineering. After clinching yet another pole position, Charles Leclerc finished 3rd for Ferrari. From 1-2 at the start, Ferrari settled for 3-4 at the chequered flag. Did Ferrari's strategy for Carlos Sainz make sense to you? They let Lewis Hamilton undercut him in the pit stops. And of course, Ferrari's mis-reading of the crossover between the medium & hard tyre - a crucial choice they made the restart. Did we witness 'Hammer Time' by Hamilton in Mexico? He drove a solid race on the medium tyre while his team-mate George Russell had yet another lacklustre outing. Russell only just fended off a resurgent Daniel Ricciardo in the AlphaTauri. Ricciardo's six points helped AlphaTauri jump two places in the Constructors' Championship. But did it also propel Ricciardo's chances at Red Bull Racing? Poor races from Perez only make the case to replace him stronger. Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg's tussle for 10th, Yuki Tsunoda's missed opportunity and of course, Lando Norris' recovery from a Q1 exit to 5th place at the chequered flag. Yes, Norris finished 12 places higher than his start position but he ended his 4-race podium finishing streak thanks to his errors in qualifying. A lot happened in the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix, including a fan brawl in the stands. Tune in! Welcome to the latest episode of Track Limits Podcast, where Henny, Feven, and Mikey with special guest Victoria share their thoughts on the recently concluded Mexico Grand Prix.Checo Perez's home race held great promise, but a series of tough races left him hungry for a strong finish. Qualifying showed his potential, yet his sole aim was a victory or a podium finish. With a spectacular start, he boldly went three-wide into the first corner, unfortunately colliding with Charles Leclerc, abruptly ending his race. A bitter disappointment for Perez, compounded by Lewis Hamilton closing in on the P2 spot in the driver championship.Teams were well aware of the track's challenges, featuring 25% lower air density and reduced downforce, demanding precise timing and balance to prevent brake and tire overheating. Race strategy emphasized tire management and brake cooling to minimize pit stops and driver errors.Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren executed impressive one-stop strategies (excluding the Red Flag), securing P2 for Hamilton, P3 for Leclerc, and a remarkable ascent from P17 to P5 by Lando Norris in the McLaren. Even AlphaTauri, the last-place team on the grid, showcased progress with Ricciardo finishing in P7.The next stop: the final race of the triple-header, the Brazil Grand Prix. Will 'plank gate' continue to be a thing as Formula 1 reaches Mexico City for this weekend's 2023 Mexico Grand Prix? Yes, we think so - and it should be so. Is Formula 1 too complex for FIA to police it fairly? And 'fairly' is the word, especially with 50% of the cars scrutineered post-race in Austin failed the test. Does this system need to evolve, and if so, what's the most fair way to do so given Formula 1's logistical schedules? In this episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah discuss what sets the Circuit Hermanos Rodriguez apart - and why 'altitude' will be the buzzword this weekend. The race to finish in P2 behind Max Verstappen is heating up. In the last 6 races, 4 different drivers have finished in P2. If Lewis Hamilton hadn't been disqualified in the 2023 United States Grand Prix, the number would've been 5. Also, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the 2023 Mexico Grand Prix weekend are landmark days in Formula 1 history. Btw, this will be the 1099th Grand Prix in the history of the sport. Will Ferrari's struggles in Mexico continue? Will Red Bull-Max Verstappen's dominance continue? They've won four out of the last five races. Will we see a new pole sitter for the eight year in succession? And of course, will Logan Sargeant celebrate his first Formula 1 point in Mexico? Lots to look forward to this weekend and in our 2023 Mexico Grand Prix preview podcast. Tune in!
