2024 is reaching an end, and I'm honestly looking forward to getting on with 2025! This year was a bit of a bust: the sudden loss of my Mum tainted most of the year with various repercussions, and even this podcast suffered from some neglect! But with a shiny new year ahead, I'm happy to look back on what travel I did manage in 2024, as well as talk about what seem to be the most likely travel trends for 2025. I also asked listeners about their resolutions for 2025 and I'm glad to include a wonderful selection of ideas - most especially because all of my listeners are so thoughtful! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to being back in your ears every week in 2025. Happy travels! In celebration of World Kindness Day, Patty invites best-selling horror writer, Michaelbrent Collings, to the show. Huh, that sounds a little contradictory. But despite being known for his scary narratives, Collings lives by kindness in his personal life and strives to teach authors how to write, market, and publish books through his platform, The Bestseller Life. He shares his journey of switching from a law career to writing, highlights the importance of storytelling, and how it affects communities. Michaelbrent also talks about an upcoming book tour, his education outreach activities, and his commitment to kindness which drives his perspective about the horror genre. Best known for horror (named as one of Rankers top 20 All-Time Greatest Horror Writers), he's also a multiple Bram Stoker Award and Dragon Award finalist and the creator of BestsellerLife.com, where you'll find the best writing, publishing, and marketing instruction around. Michaelbrent Collings Vroom Vroom Veer Stories As a kid he was kinda smart and kinda small which brought about a Napoleon Complex with no power--resulting in him being a jerk and having no friends McC got tired of not having friends, so he asked his Mom how to make friends; his mom taught him how to be nice and make friends; His Dad was a creative writer and his house was full of books; he was also the a world class expert on Stephen King; so Michaelbrent had an early entry into the world of stories Because he spent most of his childhood as kinda of Jerk he thought he might be good at arguing; so he became a lawyer His wife got sick and he got sick and he could no longer keep up with the lawyer partner gig and take care of himself and his wife; he was politely asked to divest from the partnership He had been writing and not publishing for about 10 years by that point; there was this new thing called Kindle were he could publish his books without all that publishing house stuff He is mostly known as a horror author but he writes in all genres and mixes them up as well Bestseller Life is a new course to help writers learn how to write, publish and make a living from your writing Connections Website

Up until now, I've wanted the seasons of this podcast to be evergreen and act as a resource on how to write a particular element of a story. My desire to create short evergreen episodes focused on a single topic is the reason this podcast tends to be free of interviews. However, throughout season three, I will share short interviews with other writers discussing how they write stories, and in particular, I will try to interview as many writers who "pants" novels. But these interview episodes will be treated as bonus episodes and will not be the focus of the podcast season. In light of that, in this bonus episode, I chat with Michaelbrent Collings on how he writes his fiction novels. Before we dive into the interview, here is a brief introduction to Michaebrent Collings.About Michaelbrent CollingsWhile he is best known for horror (and is one of the most successful indie horror authors in the world), Michaelbrent Collings has also written internationally-bestselling thriller, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, humour, young adult, and middle grade works, and romance. An engaging and entertaining speaker, he is also a frequent guest at comic cons and on writing podcasts like Six Figure Authors, The Creative Penn, Writing Excuses, and others. What to Expect From this EpisodeIn this episode, I chat with Michaelbrent about the following topics:Where Michaelbrent gets ideas for his books. How to know whether a horror novel is scar enough for the reader.Characters in horror movies that are too stupid to live.Transitioning from having that initial idea to getting to a place where you feel ready to write the first draft. How much detail Michaelbrent includes when he outlines his novels. The trick of becoming a professional author.Tips on how to tackle writer's block when you're writing the first draft. The trap most authors fall into when writing and measuring success.Dealing with negative reviews.Stores weighing low rating reviews over higher ratings.Writing is quite emotionally taxing. The value of a supportive partner or friends. Thanks for listening, and happy reading and writing, everybody.Podcasts, Books, and Tools MentionedCheck Out the Show NotesThe Previous EpisodeGenre Tropes Cheat SheetMichaelbrent Collings WebsiteMichaelbrent Collings Books on AmazonThe Authorpreneur Podcast Community on FacebookSupport the show by buying me a coffeeWant the podcast straight to your inbox? My ServicesTry The Formatting Wizard Book Formatting Services for FREE **The Formatting Templates offered by my services.Le Villain Book Covers (Affordable Premade Book Covers) **My Books Get My Short Story, the Lawn for FREEMy Novella, MissingThe Candidate (Pre-order)The Candidate (ARC on BookSprout)Become a Beta Reader and Start Reading DuplicityEntitled to Murder on my blogEntitled to Murder on WattpadConnect with Me on Social MediaTwitter: @WriterADHayFacebook: www.facebook.com/authorpreneurpodcastFB group: The Authorpreneur Podcast CommunityInstagram: @authorpreneurpodcastYouTube: www.youtube.com/c/authorpreneurpodcast/videosGoodreads: www.goodreads.com/authoradhay* This is an affiliate link where I receive a very small commission if you purchase this product.** This is a service offered by me

Author Sumira Sarai, now sex advocate says "I wrote the book before Fifty Shades Of Grey, but I never released it, during the time I wanted to give people something to read in a poetic form, that would capture their attention, and give them something to think about. This book was intended to spice up the sex life of individuals, who needed help in the bedroom, and I think it has so far from those who have read the book. Since it's release I also wrote another book of poetry and released it free, "Safety Within Lust", which gives readers the opportunity learn about the precautions that should be taken before having sex, and how so many young females are constantly victims to lack of knowledge on sex." Josh Gressel just had a book released by University of America Press (Embracing Envy: Finding the Spiritual Treasure in Our Most Shameful Emotion) which talks about some of the deeper meaning behind what we envy and concrete steps we can take to use our envy to become better versions of ourselves Josh is a clinical psychologist and a practiced public speaker so I won't stutter on air.
