Welcome to the D&D world! We're expanding the lore with not one, but two Dungeons & Dragons arcade games made by Capcom! Tuck in for an in-depth episode about the Known World, why the Record of Lodoss War is more than an anime, and the rare example of how a consultant can actually help a company as we talk about Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and its superb sequel, Shadow Over Mystara. Why aren't there steamboats in the Known World? Does Past Blaster really think Shadow Over Mystara is the best beat ‘em up ever? What character names are on Capcom's naughty list? How many buttons is too many buttons? We only answer one question this episode but it allows us to share our thoughts on the Fantastic Four movie trailer and some other upcoming super superhero movies. Join the Podouken Discord and ask your own questions that could be included in a future episode: discord.gg/k5vf2Jz You can also like, comment, and subscribe to our YouTube channel where we post our listener question segments and additional content: https://www.youtube.com/@podoukenpodcast2716

Boa Viagem! One of the beauties of TTRPGs is the ability to not just watch or read an amazing story, but to experience it… to create it. The mystery, the action, the climactic battle between good and evil; D&D gives us the ability to create our favorite stories. One of the most important aspects of that, as the DM, is creating a level of mystery to the story that the players get the chance to uncover as they delve deeper into the adventure. In this episode, Tony, Chris, and Dave discuss a listener question about the mystery that they're planning on having last for 10 levels and ask, “am I being cruel by leaving them in mystery so long?” 4:05 3 ways it can go: 1) your plot twist becomes campaign defining, 2) players will rage quit, or 3) it falls flat.4:55 Your campaign is not a novel.7:30 New players might not even understand what they're choosing when they're still trying to understand the game mechanics.9:40 If you have something to get through to the players: Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.11:00 The difficulties of conveying the story in a spoken medium.12:30 DM Tony discusses his difficulties in conveying lore-heavy campaigns.14:08 What will the player's choose? How this can affect the overarching campaign if its too set in stone.16:25 New players might not be as new as you think with the advent of live-play games. But, then again, they might not remember what all the different dice are either.19:05 DM Chris' analogy of trying to teach something to someone and the lessons we can learn for in-game use. Listen for when the players begin to “parrot back” your plot drops.23:50 The difference between YOUR reveal and THEIR reveal… tie the reveal to the characters. Matt Colville's “A Tale of Two Campaigns” video.28:40 For a campaign-defining mystery like “Mystara is dying,” there are infinite ways to create a breadcrumb trail for the players to pick up on.35:55 Final Thoughts
The tale is now nearing its finale.

A warm welcome and information on where to find older episodes...
Remember - You can listen to the entire backlog of Tales of Mystara on the Solo Dungeon Crawler YouTube channel.
Still experimenting with the format as I come close to the end of this adventure.
November 5, 2016 - Gabe and Rob play video games for the Extra Life charity, including Yars' Revenge, Combat, and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. For more information about the charity, visit www.extra-life.org.
Back again after a short break (I literally broke my leg!). Continuing to experiment with the new format.
Still in the swing of it. In this episode I discuss all sorts, including character AI and oracles.
Two days of uploads back to back! I wanted to get the ball rolling while I was in the mood...
It's been more than a year but I'm back!

Welcome back to our pre-50th anniversary blitzkrieg of D&D episodes, where we talk about our own personal thoughts and likes of various things before getting into some history and context next year for the 50th! This time around, we're talking about our favorite editions (for example, basic Red Box, 1st, 5th), campaign settings (such as Mystara and Greyhawk), and alignments (chaotic good all the way!). If you're old like we our, these may take you down memory lane. If you're younger and want to hear about some old school things, jump on in! But we do like some of the newer content, as well, so there's something for everyone anyway. Pour yourself a flagon of goblin blood spiced mead and enjoy! Next week's episode is about how we learned about Zeppelin band members after Zeppelin, but before we knew who Zeppelin were... if that doesn't make sense, it doesn't to us, either, but it will when you listen next week! Let's talk Kobolds but not the kind of kobolds that you're used to. Were talking about the Heimurrin's kobolds. You're going to meet one such kobold in “an acorn journey, a DMD story.” This kobold, of course, is the samurai Longwei. F you meet him, you will soon realize that Longwei is very different from how you may imagine a kobold. In Heimurrin, they are quite different than those of the forgotten realms, Mystara, or any other Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting you may have come across. Perhaps, there even different than those in your homebrew world. Welcome back to Pursuing Pixels. We've got an absolutely jam-packed episode this week, so let's get right into the video games!?! Kevin kicks things off with a couple of games that he's been absolutely loving lately — OlliOlli World + Dodgeball Academia — one of which is a potential contender for his ever-changing favorite game of all-time! From there, Randall digs into Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, a collection of two beat 'em up, retro-arcade 'classics' that don't get anywhere near enough love in modern times. Finally, we wrap things up with a deep dive into Dicey Dungeons, which all three of us have been playing lately — and was also John's resolution game for this year on our most recent holiday episode.
