Each saw the Jewish people at a different point: in their dignity, in their moral decline, and in their devastation. Each Eicha reminds us: the question isn't just historical, it's existential. “How can I carry this alone?” “How can it be that righteousness has been replaced by ruin?” And… “How can it be that a holy city sits in desolation?”The Rebbe taught that we are the answer. The total lack of self-awareness or intellectual honesty from The Morning Joe is stunning. They still haven't accepted they are no longer listened to. In fact, just this past week, the Hallmark channel had more viewers then either CNN or MSNBC. And, among the worst of MSNBC, is the mentally unhinged and perpetual racist, Joe Reid. An overly educated white woman took to social media and asked why anyone should care about illegals coming to the country. She literally doesn't understand why it's a problem. Dr. Marty Makary was just nominated by Donald Trump to head the FDA! That's a phenomenal pick. If you don't know him, I play a snippet of his testimony to Congress over who he thinks is the biggest spreader of public health misinformation. We are learning that a single call from Mexico's president to Donald Trump to congratulate him on his election, turned into a more important discussion. It seems Trump took the time to discuss his plans for tariffs if Mexico doesn't start to work with us like an ally. Finally, a university in Texas is trying something that used to be the norm in college – they are accepting students based solely on merit, excellence and intelligence. What a novel approach! The Prime Minister has shared new details about his phone call with Donald Trump. Christopher Luxon has had a one-on-one chat with the US President Elect yesterday morning, a call Trump was late for. But Luxon told Mike Hosking it was a warm conversation and a productive chat, covering everything from international conflict to golf. Luxon says Trump's perception of New Zealand, and our Government, is very positive. He's also confirmed that a new compensation scheme for abuse in care survivors will be in place by mid-2025. Redress was a major talking point at yesterday's historic national apology. Luxon's already committing a further $32 million to the existing settlement process. He told Hosking that the Government's also working as fast as possible to get a new redress system in place. Luxon says there's a lot of design work to be done, as the current claims process goes through four different Government agencies, who all work at different speeds. Joey is back after an east coast adventure, and quite a bit happened! He went to an Orioles game, a Phillies game, made a few friends, had some laughs, and went to a Miami Hurricanes watch party in New York City. Never has there been so much anxiety in one room!Miami won on a Hail Mary that was overturned, and people got enraged. They yelled things like, "How could you say there was indisputable evidence?" or suggesting the NCAA is rigged. These same folks seem to conveniently overlook other elements from the game like Virginia Tech failing at a fake field goal or being extremely casual with time management on the final drive.As it turns out, a game consists of more than just one play. And this is hardly the only context where it's happened. So, try not to overreact too much to one moment, yeah? It's a good rule for life in general.Since we recorded, we also lost sports legends Dikembe Mutombo and Pete Rose. Our thoughts are with their families, and we hope you do a finger wag or make a graceful slide in their honor.
