After previewing a 'big announcement' for Thursday, President Trump delivers a bizarre sales pitch for NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) of artwork depicting himself as various forms of American superheroes. Denver mayor Michael Hancock declares a state of emergency over 600 migrants entering the city over the last six months. Is this a straight money grab from the federal government? Or have virtue-signaling Democrats just been caught off-guard by the real impact of their 'sanctuary' policies?

Brayden is clearly not cut out for the corporate world, but a lot of the skills he learned there have proven incredibly valuable to him as a full time photographer. He is goes into the importance of understanding professional skills such as creating decks and writing good emails to navigate brand deals. Next, we chat about his entry into the NFT space, and he gets a LITTLE fired up about his and Chelsea's genesis piece on Foundation that, according to Deeze, is “aging like fine wine.”After we get fired up, a tangent brought us to the topic of artists having more of a say in defining the artists of our generation, the frustration with collectors spending exorbitant amounts of eth on underdeveloped art while good artists are going unnoticed. This tied in perfectly with the toxic positivity in the space and the WAGMI vibes and how those who consistently show up and contribute will be the ones who make it.We finish off the conversation with my predictions for the next bull run, culture clashes between the collectible and art community, and the rise of art sales, even in a bear. This is a very non-linear conversation but jam-packed with value for every type of participant in the web3 ecosystem.Enjoy

A person in web3 that needs no introduction, but he'll get one anyway because I love him, I give you, John Knopf.Artist, Community builder, and just an overall GOOD GUY. John was one of the first people I looked up to in web3, as he had (and still does) this ridiculously contagious energy that radiated (and still does) far and wide. We start from the beginning of his childhood in what he describes as his comfort of chaos.  Before being a photographer full-time, he worked at a car dealership, which is where he truly found his love for photography, his exit to becoming a full-time artist is one for the books! We then dive into his thought process, motivation, and determination to succeed, at any cost, and a detailed description of what that actually looked like for him. We then journey into him discovering the web3 space, and the role he played in creating a movement of photography being valued in the NFT space. Some special moments are the ones he shared around the difficult discussions he and Cath Simard had when it came to breaking out, and their wild journey ever since. Our discussion on how he prices his work is something unique that I never heard before and is one that many will replay over and over for years to come. This episode is a must not miss. We like the art, we like the collage art even more after this recording! I first ran into Erin last year in a Twitter space and was immediately inspired by her courage to hop on a stage and share her art in front of a large audience that hadn't yet seen collage art before. From there, I've been watching her continue to hone in on her craft, become a live podcast host on Twitter Spaces, and get accepted to the Super Rare platform. Most recently, she won Super Rare's "Space Race", which will allow her to curate her own Super Rare Collage art gallery! What is unique about this accomplishment, is that it is 100% community voted by using Super Rare's $Rare token. A small example of how decentralized governance can lead to unique opportunities for everyone. This episode starts off with my human moment by calling her Ana, but I promise it gets better. We chat through her experience creating art both before and during web3, how she vibes with her collectors, her journey as a teacher, and how her mindset has been during the current market conditions. What are NFTs?NFT stands for non-fungible token.A more descriptive name would have been “a 100% unique, non-replaceable digital asset recorded and authenticated on computer databases,” but that's too long. So, let's stick with “non-fungible token” and break it down.Token: A token is a digital asset (e.g., image, gif, video, a digital object in a video game, etc.) that lives on the blockchain.Non-fungible: Each token (asset) is non-fungible, which is fancy talk for saying it's 100% unique. For example, physical art is non-fungible. Da Vinci's “Mona Lisa” is non-fungible. Michelangelo's “David” is non-fungible. Van Gough's “Starry Night” is non-fungible. If you're an art collector, you could trade one masterpiece for another—but you couldn't replicate the Mona Lisa or David. There is only one of each and will always only be one. You could have a picture of the Mona Lisa, but it's not the actual Mona Lisa.

This week's episode is one that I have been ITCHING to release for quite some time now! Cath is a landscape photographer in the NFT space that has some of the most beautiful work that I've ever seen. Her insane journey, the use of blue, and her natural talent of telling the story of her work just drew me in right from the start. We discuss everything from her journey before NFTs, her transition into this wild space, the challenges, and the emotions she had to overcome to get to where she's at today. We discuss her controversial Free Hawaii photo, which was the first NFT photograph to be minted with a CCO (Creative Commons License). This photo was the catalyst for a much larger conversation around IP rights that I feel will shape the future in a positive light for artists everywhere.Towards the end, we do a little Cath appreciation and gaze at her photos as she tells the story behind a few.Again... I am so excited for you to hear this one, it's jam-packed with value, vibes, blue, and of course, gm.Cath Links:inktr.ee/cathsimardBoonafide Socials:TwitterWebsiteSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/Boonafidexp)

This week's episode is Anna Mcnaught. She is a photoshop artist, as well as a photographer in the NFT scene. A funny story about this interview is that she was one of the first artists I came across back in March when I was doing my research.  We discuss her story in great detail, from her childhood to her corporate career, the transition to photography & photoshop, and her NFT experience so far. We also share her stories behind the pieces, as well as how they make me feel. This is such a great episode, as Anna is super raw and transparent and dives deep into the wins and losses of her journey.Anna Socials: TwtitterPortfolio & NFT CollectionBoonafide Socials:TwitterWebsiteSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/Boonafidexp)

A transaction in NFT is a transaction in some sort of digital ownership. Or as the Bloomberg columnist Matt Levine put it, “digital ostentation.” As the new owner of the NFT of a song or a jpeg, you don't have exclusionary access to the 0's and the 1's that make up the digital object. But there is still scarcity ascribed to the thing you're buying, because the seller promises to only do this transaction a small number of times. So as a buyer, you may feel good about a special bond you have now formed with the seller - in general an artist. Or you can signal to the world that you have deep enough pockets to have made such a transaction. In our debate today, on one side, we have a London School of Economics professor who is both a staunch no-coiner and an NFT bear. On the other, we have a founding partner of a NFT dedicated fund that started in 2019. Our cohost is from a renowned crypto fund, an NFT advocate and a collector herself. So this will be interesting. If you would like to debate or want to nominate someone, please DM me at @blockdebate on Twitter. Please note that nothing in our podcast should be construed as financial advice.Listen-along transcript: https://share.descript.com/view/NnA9YEyInkESource of select items discussed in the debate (and supplemental material):Edmund Schuster: http://edmundschuster.com/Andrew Steinwold's podcast: https://twitter.com/zima_redAndrew Steinwold's NFT & Metaverse newsletter: http://andrewsteinwold.substack.comMaria Shen at Electric Capital: https://www.electriccapital.com/team/maria-shenNBA Topshot: https://nbatopshot.com/Opensea (NFT sale platform): https://opensea.io/Beeple's $69M NFT sale: https://www.theverge.com/2021/3/11/22325054/beeple-christies-nft-sale-cost-everydays-69-millionTwitter thread questioning whether NFT is true un-censorable: https://twitter.com/jonty/status/1372163423446917122Guest bios: Edmund Schuster is an Associate Professor of corporate law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In Episode 10 of the Ethereal Podcast, DeFi Dad interviews the CoFounders of Mintbase, Nate Geier and Carolin Wend.Mintbase is an NFT factory for the new virtual economy. One can mint non-fungible tokens (NFTs) using Mintbase, which represent scarce digital goods like artwork. Artists using Mintbase, especially in virtual NFT worlds like Cryptovoxels, can issue traceable, limited edition digital art, as well as other items such as tickets for virtual events. While DeFi has been at the forefront of attention in Ethereum, few understand how much growth NFTs are seeing on Ethereum. For example, SuperRare, a leading digital art marketplace, started in 2020 with $344,000 in platform sales volume which has quadrupled to over $1.6m according to Messari Crypto. In this episode, we discuss how Mintbase empowers creators in new digital and virtual worlds, including arts, gaming, photography, and virtual event tickets, especially since the start of the quarantine. To learn more about Mintbase visit mintbase.io.
