Women are natural multitaskers and can benefit from monetizing their downtime if needed.Christine Schaub is the author of the book Queen of the Side Hustle: Unleashing Your Potential for Extra Income. She makes her living with six side gigs, including hosting the award-winning web series Come On Over. She co-authored the number one Amazon Best Selling memoir, and was a former press secretary for a US congressman. Christine also has a background in corporate communications within healthcare, pharmaceutical, real estate, and entertainment companies. Women are master multitaskers. Christine explains all the options and skills women accumulate throughout life, often not recognizing these skills as opportunities for side gig income. She shares how to learn more skills without financial risks and how to strategize for success in the side gig economy. The side gig economy offers freedom and flexibility but lacks benefits like healthcare so keeping corporate jobs with side hustling is a win-win combination. However, just like any job, side hustling can lead to burnout, so balancing multiple side jobs and learning when to say no is crucial. The key is to experiment with side hustles to ensure financial stability. Be flexible and open to all avenues to maximize your potential. Notes
Understanding how to build a sellable business is a game changer. Carrie Kerpen is the founder of The Whisper Group, an exit-readiness advisory firm dedicated exclusively to women-owned businesses.Carrie has built and sold one of the world's first social media agencies and has continued helping female founders build and sell their businesses and live their lives fully. She is on a mission to get as much money in the hands of women as possible. Carrie has been a great friend and supporter of Adrienne and the She Leads LIVE conferences from the early days and has contributed her wisdom consistently.Carrie says that women often start businesses driven by passion but rarely think about how they will exit. It's imperative to consider an exit strategy from day one. Creating sellable businesses rather than focusing on immediate monetization is a key point Carrie is very passionate about. She says that so much about exiting is not just about the business but about us personally and being honest and relatable rather than projecting an overly polished image. Many business owners face regret post-exit due to lack of financial planning. Women must realize that small businesses can exit with six times more value and we need to embrace the idea of extracting wealth from our businesses in order to provide the security and power for ourselves and our families that we so rightly deserve.Notes:
Don't be afraid to take control of your financial life. Stephanie Xenos - Money Muse is a retired rocket scientist turned women's personal finance expert obsessed with helping women reach financial independence. She seeks to empower women of all ages and diverse backgrounds to jumpstart their journey toward financial freedom. Stephanie shares her life story and how she chose to study physics in college, thinking it would lead to high earnings. During her work at SpaceX, she invested significantly in her future Stephanie retired at 32 and decided to help other women achieve financial independence. There is a different perspective on retirement or taking breaks or sabbaticals instead of following a traditional work-retirement path. Leveraging your career to gain financial freedom is not hard. According to Stephanie, there is no need for having a financial advisor but with a bit of learning and time, building portfolios is not hard at all. Stephanie invested for 14 years so she could fully ‘retire'. While she focused intently on living a super-frugal lifestyle in order to heavily invest, she advises against sacrificing pleasures for the sake of investing. Rather, she promotes a mindful and more balanced approach to spending and investing in order to enjoy life both today and tomorrow. It would be wonderful for young women to get educated on investing early in life so that they can gain financial independence. When women have extra funds, they are more likely to invest in their families and their communities. With economic power, women will help humanity. Stephanie's life and her commitment to women and their financial empowerment shows us that the sky is the limit - so let's go for it!Show notes:

Dr. Caldeirashares her journey from emigrating from Guyana at 19 to becoming a successful psychologist in New York. She started studying business, but she switched to psychology after a beautiful class experience and working at a camp for children who experienced trauma.Bringing together the two disciplines of business and therapy, she created her hugely successful NYC private practice to gain more flexibility and positively impact more lives directly. However, Dr. Caldeira soon faced overwhelming demand, leading her to expand and hire additional therapists - which was very challenging.Nathilee now seeks a more balanced approach to business as she is focused on optimally serving both clients and her employees. For her, there is great importance in defining personal success, valuing time over constant growth, and honoring the different seasons of life when making business decisions. Nathilee's experience with the importance of self-reflection, adaptability, and prioritizing well-being is a great lesson for all entrepreneurs. We have the freedom to redefine success and shape our businesses in a way that aligns with our personal values and life stages. Tell us about your background, why you started ParkMyCloud and how you’ve seen the market evolve since you got started (in 2015). Topic 2 - ricing in the public cloud world has gotten both more complicated (e.g. no clouds do it the same way) and simpler (e.g. sustained usage discounts, free tiers, per-second billing, etc.). How do you see the market evolving, and how much of a barrier/burden is pricing “complexity” to public cloud adoption? Topic 3 - You position ParkMyCloud separately for “For DevOps” and “For IT”. How are you seeing those as two distinct use-cases or types of teams? Topic 4 - ParkMyCloud not only monitors cloud costs and recommends areas for savings, but also includes automated tasks to take advantage of those optimizations. Tell us about the automation capabilities and how your customers get comfortable with that level of control in the platform. Topic 5 - What are you seeing as the public cloud buying process these days? Who is involved, what criteria do they consider, and how do various stakeholders (CFO, Project Managers, Developers) continue to get cost visibility? Feedback? Shannon, How many times has it been now? The last time we spoke to Rancher was at DockerCon EU, 2015 and we spoke to Darren Shepherd. A lot has changed as we’ll get into but first, introduce yourself and how are you doing these days? Topic 2 - Before we dig into details, what is your take on the state of the container industry currently? What are some themes you’ve seen over the last two years? Topic 3 - For those that don’t know, explain both Rancher and RancherOS. What problem are you trying to solve with each? Topic 4 - Rancher as I understand it specializes in application provisioning to both Kubernetes and Docker Swarm either on-prem on to public clouds, correct? Where does Rancher leave off and Kubernetes or Swarm takes over? How is long term management of the application handled? Folks should check out the whitepaper on comparing orchestrators, I took a look last night and it is well done and “down in the weeds” Topic 5 - Let’s talk about Rancher 2.0. There are some really great things in there, tell the folks about what’s just released. Topic 6 - What are the common use cases you are seeing with your early customers? Topic 3 - How should someone try and make sense of data that is around all these projects? (GitHub stars, survey data, VC funding, the lack of vendor financial reporting, etc.)? Topic 4 - Do you feel like anything since 2014 has become “mainstream” yet (e.g. containers, DevOps, data analytics), or does mainstream mean something very different in today’s world of cloud services? Topic 3 - In talking to the A Cloud Guru team, we’re starting to see a big trend of people getting cloud training and certifications. Should we be doubling back on fundamental technologies to supplement more complex shows? Topic 4 - Are we in a technology lull right now? We had containers a couple years ago, and serverless like 12-18 months ago, but right now it feels like an expansion phase. Thoughts? Topic 5 - Let’s talk about some of the trends we’re seeing at this point in 2017: All vendors supporting Kubernetes (AWS, Oracle, Microsoft) Is it strange that we’re heard almost nothing from Docker since DockerCon and their announcements of a new CEO and the “Moby” project? We’re beginning to see some funding in the serverless space (IOpipe, Skippbox acquired by Bitnami, Iron.io at Oracle) and that crazy $140M for Databricks and calling themselves “serverless data science and AI” Topic 6 - We saw Amazon acquire Whole Foods recently, as well as getting back into the retail markets (people-less stores). Do you think we’ll start to see their movement into all these adjacent markets impact customers adopting AWS? Apparently Target is now moving off AWS. Topic 7 - AUDIENCE QUESTION: We’ve never really focused on SaaS applications, outside of SaaS-based tool that help IT. Does our audience think we should focus on SaaS applications, and if so, which verticals should we target? Feedback? Email: show at thecloudcast dot net Twitter: @thecloudcastnet and @ServerlessCast

Topic 3 - What are the core challenges that microservices applications face with regard to secrets? Is it key management, or key rotation or encryption of secrets, or something else? Topic 4 - Since secrets are so central to microservices, and critical to normal operations, how do you make sure that a platform like Vault is highly available? Or what happens if it goes out of service? Topic 5 - If we’re talking about microservices, the conversation typically evolves to deploying them, which leads to discussions about container schedulers.
