Henley was helped by Collin Morikawa's short game woes on the back 9 Sunday en route to a one shot victory. We will dive deep into what makes Bay Hill's setup so challenging for even the best players in the world. Tim has played the course, so he will give some inside knowledge into the setup and some holes that are specifically challenging. On the LIV golf circuit, Sergio Garcia got a win in Hong Kong, but the bigger story may be that Dustin Johnson took last place. In addition to being a minority shareholder, Ian was Head Club Fitter and Chief Technical Officer at Modern Golf. Four fantastic years were spent growing Modern Golf to become a prominent club fitting facility in Canada. Ian left Modern Golf in late 2015 to begin creating TXG. The goal envisioned by Ian was to deliver the same type of experience to golfers of all levels and to demonstrate that all golfers can benefit from proper equipment that is fit to their requirements and abilities. With this vision of becoming the industry leading experts in club fitting and building, Ian and his team opened their first store in Burlington Ontario. Gary McCord had a lengthy career on Tour, playing in over 400 PGA Tour events and then playing in another 161 events on the Champions Tour (with two victories), but Gary is probably best known for his 33 year career as a member of the CBS golf telecast crew from 1986-2019. We talk with Gary about life on Tour in the early 70's with Monday qualifying, his lead role in creating the all-exempt Tour in 1983, how he got his start with CBS in 1986 and what it was like to work with legendary producer Frank Chirkinian, his experiences as a broadcaster at The Masters and his banishment from the tournament in 1994, and his role in the movie Tin Cup and how Ron Shelton based several key scenes on Gary's real life experiences on Tour. We also get Gary's take on the distance debate and the Tour/LIV schism (and some ideas as to how to bridge that divide).

The PGA Tour Equity plan is going to be announced today and Matt Adams has all the details and breaks it all down for you. It's complicated but let's uncomplicate it. Matt Adams is joined by PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons who talks about his new book Fire in the Hole which recounts his extraordinary life.

In Part 2 of this week's show, I'm joined by 1983 PGA Champion and 2-time Players Champion Hal Sutton and former PGA Tour Player who is now one of the all-time great Golf Analysts, Frank Nobilo. Hal has designed a new course outside of Houston, Texas called Darmor. It is sure to be named the Top New Private Course of 2024/2025. We start off getting an update on how it's progressing. I then get Hal's thoughts on Scottie Scheffler's win in The Masters and his impressive play in the extremely windy conditions in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. He also shares his thoughts on what he saw from Ludvig Aberg playing in his first major plus Tiger's performance as well. We then look ahead to the PGA Championship at Valhalla and a look back at Hal's win in the PGA Championship in 1983. Hal talks about having his idol, Jack Nicklaus, make a charge in the final round and what it was like having Jack waiting for him on 18 as Hal closed out that victory. Frank Nobilo was a part of the CBS broadcast team for The Masters. We talk about why Augusta National always brings out the best in past champions. He shares his insights on the play of Sscheffler, Aberg, and Tiger. Then I get Frank's thoughts on why golf's ratings are down 20+% this year. We conclude by looking back at the 1994 US Open at Oakmont. Frank was in the field that year and in the press room when Arnold Palmer finished his final US Open round. Frank talks about the emotional scene of watching Mr. Palmer address the press and his fans.

In this episode of “This Is Purdue,” we're talking to PGA Tour golfer Adam Schenk.  Adam is a Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business alum and former first-team All-Big Ten Purdue men's golfer, who has spent nearly a decade dedicated to his full-time career on the golf course. During this time, he secured his PGA Tour card and rapidly ascended the leaderboard, often competing alongside some of the world's top-ranked golfers. Already a Top 100 course in the nation, The Tree Farm was a vision of a PGA Tour Player back when it was a deep, dark and dense tree farm owned by a timber company. Looking to fully open its doors in September 2024, The Tree Farm is hoping to become not only a destination, but is also hoping to change how we might envision a golfing experience. The dream of PGA Tour player Zac Blair, The Tree Farm, a private club in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, is just twenty-five minutes away from the revered Augusta National. Although Blair may have had some of the same desires as Bobby Jones had when he designed Augusta, Blair does not envision a major championship at The Tree Farm - he just wants the members to have fun and enjoy their game of golf. Simple. Just like the club's logo. Zac's dream started back in his native Utah, but when he was down in South Carolina with friends, he saw the property and started digging in - not earth - but his heels. He and renowned club manager, Eric Dietz, have set up a club to fully open in September, 2024. And, they have both gotten their hands dirty in creating a project that is cutting edge for the golf and club industries. Tom Doak, famed for his minimalist style, was perhaps the perfect choice to route the holes on the property that Blair wants to keep as the focus. Doak already had six courses in the Top 100 and studied under Pete Dye, while perhaps his biggest influencer was Alistair McKenzie. McKenzie of course studied under Bobby Jones. Blair then brought in his good friend Kye Goalby to finish the design - Kye had worked with Doak previously on several projects and was the best choice for finishing the ultimate design, says Blair. With 70 founding members, raising $35 million to help jump-start the project, Dietz and Blair know all 320 members. The two men are already well on their way to filling the 370 memberships at what will surely become one of golf's most desirable destinations. Blair has interviewed each and every member while Dietz welcomes them to the club, a club that is not steeped in tradition like past clubs he has managed, but is warm and welcoming to all levels of golfer. The Tree Farm revolves just around golf - there's no other real amenity. The clubhouse - the architect is a personal friend of Blair - is being designed and outfitted with the surroundings and natural, local environment in mind. The lodging is being built around an idea - Blair and Dietz call it "a lunch to lunch experience" - 24 hours, 2 rounds, 2 lunches, and 1 dinner to be enjoyed before departure. This idea of a course as a destination drawing members from miles away for a day or two, or even more, is a growing trend in the industry. With Streamsong outside of Tampa perhaps as the first of this kind, developers and financiers are finding large tracts of interesting land and building courses as destinations for day-trippers through to those looking for weekend getaways and week-long stays. Golf in Scotland, say at a Machrihanish or even further out like a Machrie, may have long before been destinations - and Blair and Dietz are using that model created long ago here in South Carolina, about as far from the Isle of Islay as one can get. "The course should be the star," says Blair. It's the course as to why people will want to come and visit. At a full-length of 6,900 yards and par 71 from the back tees, it's open and accessible for every level of golfer to enjoy and play.
