Meet Ryan Mouque, Golf Coach and Caddy helping develop players to play to their potential. Ryan produces a mass amount of online content that is generated through the lens of educating and empowering his clients and followers.  He possesses a unique depth of knowledge and experience about not only the swing, but how to play outstanding golf. In today's episode, you'll: Learn how adopting a growth mindset can redefine mistakes as opportunities, helping golfers improve and stay motivated. Discover the three essential types of practice - block, random, and competitive - and why each is crucial for building a well-rounded game. Understand the importance of refining your swing path, clubface control, and setup for better drives and fewer penalty shots. Learn the benefits of focusing on off-the-ball drills and slow-motion swings to develop muscle memory and ingrain better movement patterns. Explore why most amateur golfers don't practice enough to justify getting frustrated, and how shifting perspective can actually improve performance. Discover Ryan's “Goldilocks training” method, using extreme opposite movements to enhance awareness of the ideal swing pattern. Get your pencils ready and start listening.  More About Ryan Ryan works with players to develop a plan that matches their time availability and learning style, and help them to achieve their goals. Work with Ryan. Key Takeaways: A growth mindset sees failure as a learning opportunity. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Many golfers struggle with misconceptions about their swing. Intentional practice is crucial for improvement. Transitioning from high scores to low scores requires focus on technique. Common struggles off the tee often stem from poor technique. Improving ball striking is key to lowering scores. It's important to structure practice sessions effectively. Learning through exaggeration helps in skill acquisition. Online coaching allows for more frequent feedback. Off-the-ball training prepares the brain for movement. Muscle memory is a myth; the brain must learn movements. Key Quotes: “Well, I think, you know, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” “As a coach myself, I see the value in coaching and I've worked with enough golfers to know that those who don't get coaching are just super confused and it doesn't take much to actually get them on the right track.” “You don't practice enough to get that upset about playing poorly.” Subscribe to the More Pars Than Bogeys Newsletter. Coach Mo sits down with her alma matter, the Furman Women's Golf Coaching Staff, Coach Jeff Hull, PGA, and Mackenzie Raim, aka Coach Mac to discuss all things about this Division I Program.  Furman, ranked in or slightly outside the Top-50 in Division I Women's Golf is a small liberal arts school with a reputation of a fantastic women's golf program. Incredible Hall-of-Famers and/or LPGA Players of the Year like Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Dottie Pepper are former Furman Women's Golf grads as well as former Nike Golf Ceo, Cindy Davis.  2020 Annika Award Winner and former #1 college player in the USA, Natalie Srinivasian and now two-time Annika Watch-list player, who just earned her seventh career college victory, finds her name amongst the list of legendary women to come out of Furman.  What's even more incredible about Furman, is it's ability to develop really smart, academically strong girls who are average to above average junior golfers into much stronger players throughout the time at Furman.  Furman has one of the best golf facilities in the country, located right outside the back gate of campus. It's facilities include Bent and Bermuda grass greens, bunkers, indoor/outdoor facility, SAM Putt Studio, Trackman, Flightscope, Swing Catalyst, and an area to hit into an actual green from 200 yards and in.Furman's Jeff Hull is a former talented player himself for the University of Georgia, and Coach Mac a former three-time collegiate winner for UNLV, make-up the coaching staff. Coach Jeff is a PGA intructor and has a phenomenal sense of coaching the full-swing, while Coach Mac is referred to as the "short-game guru."  The team often collaborate with former Furman Women's Golf Alum, Dawn Woodard, who is now a mental performance coach and assists the team on their mental performance.  With all of this accessable and right on Furman's beautiful campus, players truly get the whole package as a student-athlete at Furman. Coach Mac and Coach Jeff answer Coach's Mo's questions as well as offer advice to players and parents throughout the recuriting process. My guest for this episode is Andrew Rice. Andrew is the Director of Instruction at The Club at Savannah Harbor, located at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa. In 2019, Andrew was named one of Golf Digest's 50 Top Teachers in America and #1 in Georgia. He has written books, appeared on numerous television productions and runs one of the most successful 3 day golf schools in North AmericaThis episode is absolutely bursting at the seems with information and content. We discuss Andrews path to where he is today, his experience with club players perceptions and understandings, and how impact has perhaps become the forgotten aspect of online swing content and as he wrote a book on it that section gets pretty good. We chat a little about the proposed roll back of the ball and then we move into the coaching section… IN the coaching section Andrew delves into his coaching influences through the years, his explorations into golf swing theory and technique alongside the team at Ping Golf, and the process he uses when exploring such material as the wedge game or wind effect etc….We chat about his work with other coaches on content projects and we discuss Coach Camp, the Golf Coaching event which he runs every year bringing coaches form around the globe together to learn and improve. Lastly Andrew highlights some of the lessons he has learned form running his golf school and distils some advice for those starting or indeed looking to improve their own school.. I have been aware of Andrew for nearly 5 years now in the golf coaching realm but never really got to spend too much time with him personally. I enjoyed his content from afar and when I started to try to produce my own content and my own explorations into the why's and how's of the golf swing, my respect for what he did and how he did it grew. There are the coaches out there who wait for the information to be distributed or discovered and then they learn or study it after it has been filtered through opinions and perspectives. There is nothing wrong with this however and it does produce a level of learning and knowledge. What appears to me about Andrew is he is not happy with that level nor the wait and its not because he wants to be the first or the smartest its because he truly loves the game like we all do and he wants to make sure we are right and he knows to truly truly help golfers our information has to be right…. It is not enough to know the information you must own the information…..As Andrew refers to many times in this Podcast he sees himself as a constant learner, a constant evolver and a recognizer that the more specifics he knows about the golf swing the more he realizes the broad spectrum there is for greatness..Support the show

Strength for Golf: Longer Drive & Better Stability for Putting As Tiger Woods' career demonstrated, strength does not destroy one's swing or ruin one's golf game. It actually helps it. Too many unfounded claims or ideas like this float around, despite the contrary reality. Strength helps produce a faster golf swing, which means the ball can go farther. It also helps with stability for fine-tuned skills such as putting. Beyond this, strength helps create stronger, more resilient, healthier golfers. Ultimately, golfers must continue to practice the skills involved in golfing (e.g. putting and driving) while improving their ability to produce force. Strength for Golf: Coaching is Coaching Neil Marr, a golf instructor, also explains how as he's decided to start pursuing barbell coaching, he's been able to use the skills he's developed as a golf instructor. He has developed a coaching eye for golf, which can translate to a better coaching eye for the barbell lifts. He also has experience identifying errors and communicating so people can move correctly. In today's episode, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb of Athletic Motion Golf set the story STRAIGHT when it comes to Dustin Johnson's swing that was being argued in a golf swing conversation on social media. The gentleman gives very incorrect information and does it with confidence that is QUITE concerning. This is why Mike and Shaun use 3D capture for swing reviews and swing analysis. Data doesn't lie. Nor does it have an ego. People though, unfortunately, do, and miss information, especially online, is one of the BIGGEST problems we see in golf today. This does bring up an important lesson though, that all golfers should learn from. Know your source, and know where they get their information and how.The wrong golf instruction can destroy your swing much more quickly than the time it takes to build it to where you are. We hate seeing bad information spread and watching passionate players fall out of love with the game because of horrible instruction. There is plenty of proven and legit golf instruction online, and we're not just saying AMG.We urge you to find golf instruction and golf content sources that you trust and believe in.
