It's not just a First of the Month recording - it's a First of the Month recording during the Summer of Cotton! After Sunday night's passionate discussion about the Travelers Championship and TPC River Highlands, it's only right that this Wednesday episode begins with a recap of Viktor Hovland's playoff win over Scottie Scheffler. Andy and Brendan discuss the one-hole finish on Monday morning and (sarcastically) wonder if Scottie actually hit his approach "too close" to the hole, forcing him to miss a four-footer to extend the event. They give Viktor Hovland his flowers before transitioning to this week's schedule, packed with Open qualifying, a senior major, and perhaps the PGA Tour's most preeminent "Track 2" event. Brendan runs down the early results from the Open Championship Qualifying Series, where podcast favorite Matthew Jordan has found his way into the field at Royal Birkdale! The Bryan brothers were among those who did not qualify, but that didn't stop the YouTube chat from badgering the R&A to show more of their shots on Tuesday afternoon's livestream. At the John Deere Classic, Zach Johnson is set to make his 24th start at his home event. He chose to skip out on this year's U.S. Senior Open in order to play the Deere and provided plenty of color in his pre-tournament press conference. Jordan Spieth also took to the microphone to pop Long Island golf fans and golf gamblers alike, even though he is a FanDuel Sportsbook ambassador in his free time. Andy shares his "5 Guys to Monitor This Week," leading with a former Deere champion and a big-name player making his professional debut. Lastly, PJ pops in for a brief preview of the U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club as we all wait to see what's next for Michael Block on the Champions Tour. A Monday playoff between Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler will serve as an exclamation point to one of the best golf weekends of 2026 thus far. Andy and Brendan! are fired up for this episode, recorded after watching a birdie-fest at TPC River Highlands, another women's major, and Blockie's near-perfect Champions Tour debut. They can't help themselves and begin with a brief section on the Dick's Open, an event that made some consider if the Champions Tour really needs Tiger Woods at all. Upstate New York's finest sporting event provided plenty of fodder, from Bob Papa singing Zac Brown Band, to the emergence of a "Paddy Stopper," and so, so much Michael Block content. The two then move on to the unfinished Travelers Championship, where a score of -21 got into a playoff to be held on Monday morning. Andy and Brendan discuss Viktor Hovland's turnaround from hitting hundreds of balls on the Shinnecock range after a missed cut last week to now potentially a Signature Event win in just seven days. They also debate whether Scottie Scheffler already missed out on multiple chances to win the tournament in regulation on Sunday afternoon on an extra-soft course after a lengthy rain delay. Andy is hung up on a Keegan Bradley quote from earlier this week alluding to the Travelers as a "vacation week" after a tough U.S. Open, and openly wonders if TPC River Highlands can fit into the PGA Tour's new Championship Series model. While the event itself is enjoyable, does the golf course leave too much to be desired as true test of professional golf? Haeran Ryu won her first major championship at the KPMG Women's PGA at Hazeltine, holding off a charge from Brooke Henderson, Ina Yoon, and Nelly Korda. The broadcast coverage was the big story of this Sunday, with a weather delay pushing the finish off of NBC and moving it to Golf Channel. A lengthy discussion about rights deals and coverage windows ensues, with ideas about ways for the LPGA to branch out and not be buried by non-major PGA Tour events on its biggest weeks of the year. Lastly, Andy and Brendan react to Alan Shipnuck's latest article on Phil Mickelson, full of more scandalous details following up on the Golf Digest report about Phil being removed from The Farms in San Diego. Celebrate "The Summer of Cotton" with B. Draddy with promo code SGS30 at BDraddy.com! We’re hosting our first Fried Egg Golf event at Pasatimepo later this month and we have a few spots remaining. In this segment, Ann visits with Nathan Grube, Tournament Director of the Travelers Championship, to discuss why the Travelers has become one of the most popular stops on the PGA Tour. Grube shares what makes the tournament special for players and fans alike, the strength of this year's field, and the continued growth of the event as the PGA Tour's final Signature Event of the season. They also discuss the challenge and opportunity of hosting the championship immediately following the U.S. Open, and why so many of the game's biggest stars continue to make the trip to TPC River Highlands.

On this week’s episode of the Quiet Please Golf Podcast, we dive into Keegan Bradley’s emotional comeback win in Connecticut — but was it really a comeback, or did Tommy Fleetwood hand it to him with a Sunday stumble? We discuss. Plus, the Ryder Cup chatter is heating up: Should Keegan be a playing captain? Andy Hydorn weighs in, while Allen ruffles feathers with his spicy take on the finishing holes at TPC River Highlands. Over on the LPGA Tour, Minjee Lee notched her third major at the KPMG Women’s PGA — a dominant performance, but Boston Bob has an interesting take on this one. And of course, no week is complete without the LIV Report — we break down who cashed in, who’s coasting, and what it all means. Tune in, tee up, and enjoy the conversation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Tommy Fleetwood had a three shot advantage heading into the final signature event of the year at TPC River Highlands, but that wasn't enough for him to get his first win on the PGA Tour. Keegan Bradley made a clutch birdie on the 18th hole and Fleetwood bogeyed to allow Bradley to win the Traveler's Championship for the second time in three years. This will sure stir the debate as to whether Bradley will be the first playing-captain in the modern era of the U.S.A. vs. Europe Ryder Cup. The KPMG Championship on the LPGA was played in brutal wind in Frisco, Texas and Min Jee Lee played some brilliant golf to win the title. The tournament was plagued by wind and tough pin placements that led to 6+ hour rounds and a lot of complaints from the best womens players in the world. The Senior U.S. Open heads to the Broadmoor this week in Colorado Springs. We had a chance to play the Broadmoor last summer and give our thoughts about this event. Andy and Brendan are fired up for four months full of Ryder Cup discourse following Captain Keegan Bradley's win at the Travelers! They discuss the impact of this win on the American Ryder Cup team on both the captaincy, which Bradley said he would not relinquish, and the back half of the roster for Bethpage Black. The two also talk through Tommy Fleetwood's latest runner-up finish on the PGA Tour after failing to convert the 54-hole lead for what would have been his first career win in America. With Signature Events wrapped up, Brendan shares some #data on sponsor exemptions into these events and the results may shock you! From there, Andy goes deep on the course setup for the KPMG Women's PGA at PGA Frisco. Minjee Lee was able to separate from the pack and win her third career major championship, but many players were outspoken about an "unfair" setup. PJ chimes in with some blow-by-blow of the Kaulig Companies Championship where Miguel Angel Jimenez took down Steven Alker in a playoff. To wrap things up, some scuttlebutt from the ground at Travelers is shared regarding the most famous member of TPC River Highlands, Chris Berman.

JJ Spahn's emotional and improbable victory—highlighted by a bogey-free 66 in Round 1 and a comeback from five-over through six holes on Sunday—dominates the opening analysis. Spahn's perseverance, bolstered by past experiences like his playoff loss to Rory at Sawgrass and personal life moments, creates one of golf's most compelling storylines this year. Sam Burns, despite leading after 36 holes, faltered on Sunday with a back-nine 5-over but gained praise for his accountability in addressing a controversial rules decision on the 15th hole. Victor Hovland impressed with another top-10 major finish, while Tyrell Hatton and Cam Young finished tied for fourth, each undone by late bogeys. Carlos Ortiz's top-4 finish secured him future major spots and significant earnings. Scottie Scheffler posted a T-7 finish with elite iron play but struggled with driving accuracy. Brooks Koepka showed flashes of his major-winning form with a T-12 finish. Bryson DeChambeau and Keegan Bradley both disappointed due to poor putting and iron play, respectively. Collin Morikawa dazzled tee-to-green but suffered a shocking putting regression. Betting-wise, Will Doctor's card went down 2 units for the week, bringing his YTD loss to 70.7 units. Matchup wins included Rahm over McIlroy and Matsuyama as top Japanese, while Åberg missed the cut as the top Nordic. For the Travelers Championship, Doctor critiques the 72-man no-cut format, urging a return to 120-player fields with cuts and innovations like a shot clock. Course characteristics at TPC River Highlands favor accurate drivers and elite wedge players. Scottie Scheffler headlines as a strong pick at +325 with no statistical weaknesses. Rory McIlroy is passed on due to poor wedge play and fatigue. Morikawa is deemed overpriced despite his iron strength. Schauffele is dismissed for weak wedge approach stats. Matchups include Akshay Bhatia over Sungjae Im and Sepp Straka over Patrick Cantlay, based on wedge stats and recent form. Russell Henley is endorsed as a top-10 pick and outright bet due to his improved putting and elite iron play. Additional outrights include Bud Cauley at 110-1 for his course fit and Scottie Scheffler as the favorite. First-round bet goes to Sam Burns to start strong. Fantasy lineups are provided for both DraftKings and PGATOUR.com formats, featuring Straka, Henley, McIntyre, Spieth, Bhatia, and Cauley. The scoring prediction is -20 under par, with the best bet being Henley top 10 at +275. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Andy is still being popped by the pub life in Scotland but recovered enough to join Brendan for a Wednesday morning recording to celebrate the PGA Tour's yearly stop at TPC Craig Ranch. This episode begins with a much-needed Blockie Minute ahead of the fourth and final round of the PGA Professional Championship. Mr. Block, the first round leader, has slipped down the leaderboard and needs a strong finish to qualify for Quail Hollow. Andy is still blacked out from Blockie content overseas and is wondering why the legend of Blockie is not growing internationally. The CJ Cup Byron Nelson begins on Thursday with a field full of Dallas residents and former champions of the event. Brendan sees this event as part of the Tour's venue problem, playing at an uninspiring course that should be soft after some rain this week. In Craig Ranch news, Lanny Wadkins is set to lead the renovation ahead of next year's tournament and is out and about doing press to discuss the project. After a week off for the Zurich, one-and-done picks return as this gambling podcast looks to get back on the right foot. Elsewhere on the schedule, the Champs Tour is also in Texas for the Insperity Invitational, and the LPGA will follow up its first major with a trip to Utah for the Black Desert Championship. Next, PJ shows off his new big letter hat from a trip to TPC River Highlands and Andy proposes a business idea for him to look into ahead of the Ryder Cup this fall. In news, Blades Brown is sticking with a KFT event as opposed to a sponsor exemption this week, LIV TV ratings continue to be low, and 2026 Presidents Cup captains were announced.
Its the final signature event of 2024 at the Travelers Championship and we have a stacked leaderboard. Tom Kim has led since Thursday, but major champions Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are lurking. Who can come out on top at TPC River Highlands to win 3.6 million dollars? What another great, weird weekend in golf. Andy and Brendan convene to cover it all, from Scottie Scheffler's sixth win of the year, the wild protest scene on the 18th green, Tom Kim's charge, and the disgrace that is TPC River Highlands and the changes that were done to make it harder. At the Women's PGA, they hail the very cool story of Amy Yang getting her first major a full 17 years into her career, Nelly Korda's missed cut and curious majors record, and the claustrophobic Sahallee. LIV Nashville is covered as Magicsticks season might be upon us, Jon Rahm is shouting at drones and the sky, and is playing a week after being unable to at a major. The DPWT coverage leads to Joe Dean minute, as in, who is he? Finally they bring in new producer PJ Clark for Champions Tour coverage to understand more of what was said and what happened at the Dick's Open.
After another packed weekend of professional golf, Garrett Morrison and Joseph LaMagna first welcome on Meg Adkins for a round of In/Out following the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, won by Amy Yang at Sahalee Country Club. Then, Garrett and Joseph discuss the Travelers Championship and whether a sub-60 round still holds the same weight following Cameron Young's performance on Saturday. The two also break down how the course changes at TPC River Highlands held up against the best players in the world following the renovations made for this year's tournament.
Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme recap all of the mayhem at the end of the Travelers Championship leading into a playoff between Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim. Smylie and Charlie examine the low scoring at TPC River Highlands, and provide some historical context for the run Scottie is on. SK and CH also chat about the LIV Golf event in Nashville, and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Sahalee.

Summer Friday rambles are back in session for this episode. Andy and Brendan begin with a keyboard malfunction, a conspiracy about vowel-less hats, and the latest Sun Day Red collection. There's a power ranking of Joe West, Joey Crawford, and Ed Hochuli spurred on by the “Travelers” alternate logo that SGS created. Then they get to a round of unsubstantiated rumors about sponsor's exemptions into signature events, a yippy superstar, and Boomer-confusion. Scottie Scheffler's comments about the wiregrass last week prompt further discussion on variety of course setups and skills, as well as the longevity needed to be one of the greats. News hits on Jay Monahan speaking to media at TPC River Highlands and if anything matters from it. They close with an SGS Golf Advice with some Tommy Tolles follow up, getting a motorized push cart, and getting your kids into golf.
