In this week's message, Martin O'Brien continued our exploration of Matthew 6, building on the theme of whether we are living for heaven or for earth. He emphasised the importance of focusing on the Kingdom of God rather than earthly worries, challenging us to evaluate if we truly seek and live for God first. Key Scripture: Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT) "So don't worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Contrasts Highlighted: - Heaven vs. Earth - Unbelievers vs. Disciples - Enough vs. More Than Main Points: 1. Focus on Heaven and God's Kingdom: - Earthly worries (food, clothes, shelter) should not dominate a disciple's thoughts. - The Kingdom of God should be our top priority and sole purpose. 2. Alternative to Worrying: - The NIV Study Bible describes these verses as advocating for a single-minded commitment to God as the alternative to worrying. - Seeking God first is an ongoing lifestyle marked by determination to prioritize Christ's teachings. Practical Ways to Live in the “More Than”: 1. Pray: - Scripture: Matthew 6:32, 6:8-13 - Point: Prayer shifts our focus from earthly worries to God and His Kingdom. It is a powerful tool that transforms our thinking and brings us into a heavenly mindset. 2. Seek: - Meaning: The Greek term implies a continuous effort to prioritize God in every aspect of life. - Application: Conduct a self-audit to assess how and if we are truly seeking Him first. 3. Live Righteously: - Definition: Living in a way that is acceptable to God, marked by integrity, virtue, and correctness in thinking and acting. - Challenge: As we seek God first, living righteously becomes more natural, shifting our focus from earthly concerns to heavenly matters. Conclusion: Martin reminded us that we are much more than enough when our lives are focused on God and His Kingdom. By transforming our thinking through prayer, seeking, and righteous living, we move from a state of worry to a state of divine abundance. Let us strive to live with a heavenly mindset, continually seeking and prioritising God in all we do.

Carla had received Jesus into her heart when she was young, but she lived many years without actually following Christ. She appeared to have a great life, but deep down she was depressed and felt like her life was going nowhere. One weekend, Carla decided to attend church after not going for a few years. The pastor spoke on Matthew 6:33 which says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Finally, Carla realized she had pushed God aside in her search for success. As she began to make Jesus a true priority, Carla experienced big changes in her life. She immersed herself in God's Word and felt peace and true joy. Sound familiar? Is Jesus a low priority in your life? I encourage you to seek Him above all else. When you do, you will be the one who is blessed. This is Andrew Palau. radio.hopewithgod.com

Rex Law preaches from Matthew 6: 19-34.
The diversity of life on this planet is astonishing, good, bad, beautiful, painful. Our world is a place of blessing and it's also a struggle for a lot of people. Each of us has a whole batch of issues to deal with every day, ranging from physical challenges to emotional needs. And a fascinating element in all this is how we see contentment. What is it? Where's it found? Is it lasting? Matthew 6:32–33 says, “For the pagans run after all these things and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them but seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” Our old friend balance is so important. In every aspect of our lives, we should have a goal of keeping steady. Solomon spoke to this in Proverbs 30, when he asked God to give him not too much or too little. He reasoned that if he had great wealth, he might forget God. If he was in poverty, he might be inclined to steal. This effort to find balance is the heart of finding contentment. God is the ultimate source and He gives us the capacity to be content, using scripture as our guide. And as usual, God is a comprehensive plan for you, especially in the area of contentment. Notice what Proverbs 14:30 says, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” The actor Chris Tucker discovered all this after the huge success of “Rush Hour” and other projects. But he became a Christian, and now he's selective in what he does, and he keeps it clean and real. It's been estimated that since he turned to faith, Tucker has turned down a hundred million in projects. What's his take on all that? He says, “But I've got a hundred million great experiences.” Whether you're hard-charging and ambitious, or you're simply neglecting the pursuit of peace in your life, you're damaging your spiritual health. Finding spiritual harmony makes you a complete person. Anything short of that, you're flying with a broken wing. Bottom line is, if you look at all the verses in the Bible that speak to being truly content, you'll quickly understand that Christ is the answer. Let's pray, Father, You've provided the only way to true peace and contentment and we thank You for that. Help us to keep this in front of us every day as we seek to live life well and abundantly, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. Psalm 63:3Psalm 63 is the next installment in the "Summer Of Psalms" series. It is a Psalm that David wrote while being in the desert; probably while on the run from King Saul. But as we look at the contents, we see no desperation on behalf of David. No imminent abandonment of the Lord. Rather he is resolved to worship and praise God. To see God's love as even better than his own life. And to see God as the one who will defend the cause of the righteous...that evildoers will be brought to justice. All of this awaits us in Psalm 63. Grab your Bible, pour yourself a cold drink, find a nice comfy chair in the shade, and let's dig in together!
Do not worry, seek Him first... In today's episode we're talking about a passage I have been clinging to lately. Matthew 6:31-34 has been instrumental in reminding me that when we seek Him first, all of our needs are met. Don't forget to leave a review and share this podcast with a friend. “Wise Words then Wonderful Works” CD#1441 12/26/21 Sun. P.M. @ VWC Decree: I give voice to GOD'S WORD and PRODUCE HIS WORKS! After my morning worship this came in my heart: "Some of the WISEST WORDS are those not spoken out loud"! Why? Because “our words” scripture teaches us are the boundary lines (Pro. 4:23) of our lives! With that truth going through our souls consider how our words produce our works. They are the seed that produces the fruit! (Matt. 24:35 – works will pass away but not words) Scripture tells us in: Ecc. 3:1 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Text: *Psalms 37:30 (NET) The godly speak “Wise Words” and promote justice (Wonderful Works). & James 3:2-4 – Notice how speech produces action. Good speech produces good action and thus bad speech produces bad action! So, we need to be led by the Holy Spirit in all things but especially when and what to speak. The Lord told Jeremiah the prophet his words would build up or tear down: #1 SOURCE *Read Jeremiah 1:9-10 – In all things we are to be good stewards of what the Lord has gave to us and that is especially true of speech. Compare Acts 1:16. David's "mouth", but not David's "words". Some people just talk to be talking but scripture tells us: #2 SCARCE *Read *Proverbs 17:27-28 – see Pro. 10:19 – Ecclesiastes 5:2 (MSG) Don't shoot off your mouth, or speak before you think. Don't be too quick to tell God what you think he wants to hear. God's in charge, not you—the less you speak, the better. #3 SECURE Read Pro. 25:11 (CEV) The right word at the right time is like precious gold set in silver. Close with Psalms 61:1-3 – V.3 “SHELTER”
Text: Matthew 8:13The Lord told Pastor Greg "The devil wants to get My people where they are in a worldly wish." We have a hope we don't have to wish for anything. A Bible hope is different from a worldly wish. A worldly wish brings peace for a moment. God didn't give us pretend peace, He gave us Jesus the prince of peace and you are in your hour of hope!

Text: Job 10:1, Psalms 6:6Are you tired or worn out? Jesus is touched by what you're feeling and He wants to help. Let's get some encouragement and strength from the Lord.
Pastor Greg ProctorRevelation 2:17The phrase the Lord gave me was: "I want My people to lose the shame name."God is calling us to leave our shame behind, because from the moment we accepted the blood of Jesus, He took all our shame on the cross. Place your shame where it belongs on the devil. Don't let any shame stop you from doing the work of God
While I was praying in tongues, I sensed the phrase: "HELP THOSE WHO OPPOSE THEMSELVES" and the verse came to me that Paul wrote to Timothy and to the us the church: *2 Timothy 2:22-26 Note specifically verses 24-26:"STRIVE" (makh'-om-ahee) a military term, hand to hand combat meaning to war! Notice the servants - slaves of the Lord must be apt to teach! Only by the teaching of the Word can the war be won!"INSTRUCTING" (pahee-dyoo'-o) to train up a child that is educate or (by implication) discipline (by punishment): - chasten (-ise) instruct learn teach. Just as children in the natural can't see the big picture and actually desire those things that will hurt and hinder them, we do that spiritually. We are "OPPOSING OURSELVES" = meaning we have set ourselves right opposite to the answer to our need or struggle!Note "REPENTANCE" – see the truth:*Romans 2:4 (KJV) Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that THE GOODNESS OF GOD LEADETH THEE TO REPENTANCE? If we will let the Holy Spirit help us repent - change our minds by acknowledging His Truth then we will stop opposing and start the recovery process:"RECOVER THEMSELVES" (an-an-ay'-fo) to become sober again that is (figuratively) regain (one´ s) senses: - recover self. "SNARE" (pag-ece) a trap (an fastened by a noose or notch); figuratively a trick or stratagem (temptation): - snare. See Jesus's teachings on this last day's SNARE: *Luke 21:33-36 (KJV) Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. [34] And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. [35] For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. [36] Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Back to 2 Timothy: "TAKEN CAPTIVE" (dzogue-reh'-o) to take alive (make a prisoner of war) that is (figuratively) to capture or ensnare: - take captive catch.[See Luke 5:1-10 - positive side – shine the LIGHT by working in the Words of Jesus!] "BY HIM TAKEN AT HIS WILL" - *2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, LEST THE LIGHT OF THE GLORIOUS GOSPEL OF CHRIST, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.Remember Peter and the others tried fishing at night which worked in the natural but when they did it Jesus' Way – in the Light they caught so many their ships were sinking! Ask the Lord to show you now what are you doing in the dark? How are you opposing yourself?
Text: Luke 6:45Everyone wants a sword but you'll never have a sword in your hand, until you get it in your heart. With all the time at home this past year, many of us have deepened our walk with God. However, now that the world is slowly going back to “normal”, it's essential that we keep our daily devotion with the Holy Spirit. This week, I am talking with Jennifer Hayes Yates about seeking God first in all that we do. Jennifer Hayes Yates is a wife, mama, writer, and speaker with an empty nest and a Southern accent. Having taught in Christian education for twenty-two years, she has a passion for communicating God's truth and inspiring busy women to grow their faith one quiet moment with Jesus at a time. Jennifer is now a blogger, best-selling author, and passionate speaker. Lover of all things Jesus, books, and coffee, she can be found in quiet corners or busy spaces, sipping lattes, studying commentaries, and chatting up strangers. But she's still just a small-town girl hoping to glorify God in all she writes and make a few disciples along the way. As we discuss the importance of focusing on our relationship with God, Jennifer shares with us why Spiritual self-care is more important than simply going to the spa to unwind. Jennifer walks us through various scriptures to encourage us on our Faith Journey and how to create time with God. Topics Discussed: How to connect with our bibles 15 minutes at a time Learning how to surrender to God Real soul care is starving the flesh and feeding your spirit Recognizing Proverbs 31 as principles rather a “perfect” woman to idolize Learning how to walk in the spirit in an authentic way Teaching people how to mature and grow in our faith Adjusting quiet time with the lord during a global pandemic Learning how to be intentional about growing from where you are Focusing on the relationship with God rather than a ritualistic routine Recognizing that a daily devotional is only a starting point The importance of accountability and community Getting creative with our quiet time with the lord Connect with Jennifer Hayes Yates: Website: https://jenniferhyates.com/wp-content/cache/all/index.html Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jenniferhayesyates Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/505971433565577/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jenniferhyates/ Connect with Rebecca Stewart: Website: https://cheeringpastchallenges.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cheeringpastchallenges Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cheeringpastchallenges/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/mrsbigsky/featured About Cheering Past Challenges Podcast: Cheering Past Challenges is a community of individuals seeking to overcome past and current trauma by seeking spiritual solutions. Thank you for joining me on #todaystalk4yourwalk. I pray you had a joyful Christmas and blessings abundantly! But I also pray that if you're going through a difficult season that you are able to seek Him above all else and cast those cares over to Him. He cares for YOU! Do what brings you joy- like my family going to see my sister and her family in TN, watching the joy in children's faces as they open gifts, watching my friend's posts and seeing their joy! But don't watch the news, compare/compete/complain; don't look back with regret, guilt or shame, don't live without hope, faith and love. Jesus wants you to have an abundantly, satisfying, hope-filled, peaceful, joyful life! Seek Him FIRST and all these things will be added into you! First Peter 5:7, Matthew 6:33, John 10:10.
Would you hand your phone to a homeless man to browse YouTube during COVID? Edmund didn't plan on doing that, but one thing led to another. He ended up giving this homeless man more than a phone.
