For this Paramount 1945 episode, we look at a couple of male melodramas: The Man in Half Moon Street, a Gothic B-movie starring Nils Asther, "the most beautiful man who ever lived," according to Elise, as a scientist who becomes unscrupulous in his pursuit of eternal youth, and Salty O'Rourke, a Raoul Walsh-directed hit starring Alan Ladd as a racetrack gambler who manipulates an unruly young jockey. The movies also boast fairly substantial love interest parts for Helen Walker as a socialite who sympathizes with Asther's Ubermensch impulses and Gail Russell as a schoolteacher who's caught up in Ladd's schemes. We dive into the question of how to create audience sympathy for a villain-protagonist and the curious nature of the Ladd phenomenon. Time Codes: 0h 00m 45s: THE MAN IN HALF MOON STREET [dir. You Could Have Been a Lady". En 1979, elBBC lanzó In Concert para distribución internacional; En 1981, Aquarius lanzó otro álbum recopilatorio, The Best of April Wine Rock Ballads . El álbum incluía los sencillos "Enough is Enough", "If You See Kay" y "Anything You Want, You Got It". Mientras tanto, varios sellos lanzaron varios álbumes recopilatorios. En 2004, Silverline lanzó el primer DVD-A de April Wine llamado From the Front Row ... Live! .

Bill Gaines changed the comic industry in multiple ways, in multiple eras, it just so happens that our favorite involved schlocky gore and stolen stories. The "source material" included works from Ralph Murphy, Robert Florey, F. Marion Crawford, Arthur Machens, W.F. Harvey, H. P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradburry, David H. Keller, and Carl Theodor Dreyer. In the episode, we try to herald the artists of the comic, including Wally Wood, Johnny Craig, Graham Ingels, George Evans, Jack Kamen, and Joe Orlando. Truly, the art is what distinguished this series more than anything else. We also touch on the cartoon series, Tales from the Cryptkeeper, the feature films (Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Fear), and the bizarre game show, Secrets of the Cryptkeeper's Haunted House. Watch Last Week's Episode: https://youtu.be/_cgmX79uwHI Get Ralph's Book here: https://amzn.to/2Xuzt0w I lost a very close friend on Tuesday. Ralph Murphy was also a friend to countless songwriters all over the world. They lost their most generous teacher and cheerleader this week. If you aren’t already familiar with Ralph’s bio, click here to see it. Ralph was in Los Angeles last month, and we enjoyed 2 glorious days of golf together. But it was our late night chats at the Laskow family kitchen table that were always the most enriching and endearing part of our friendship over the last 25 years or so. Ralph enjoyed a life that was very well lived, and he had a million great stories to share. I’m actually surprised that none of the obituaries mention what an incredible raconteur he was. Spending four or five hours on a golf course with Ralph was an entertaining education and a philosophy class rolled into one. I’ll miss our annual outings. For this week’s TAXI TV, we’re going to replay an episode with Ralph from a couple of years ago. He had “chemo fog” during last month’s appearance on TAXI TV and wasn’t always able to articulate his thoughts as well as he would have liked. I prefer to remember my friend when he was 100%. Actually, if Ralph were reading this, he would have joked, “Have I ever been 100%?” Yes Ralph, you were. I miss his warmth and sense of humor. I miss watching him plant songwriting seeds all over the world. “There’s a difference between a dream and a fantasy. A dream is something you’re willing to take some steps towards... you just cannot help but go hard after it.” In episode 76, John tackles the burning question on the mind of nearly every songwriter who desires to reach a larger audience in the music realm. John gives a brief background of his own journey with songwriting, publishing, and career with Integrity music. “Do something to further your craft. Anything, Even a small thing is better than living in a fantasy world waiting for someone to come and do this for you… If this is a true passion in your life, you’ll be willing to do something about it.” John discusses the tools we have to spread our message that are right in our hand. So many times we overcomplicate the idea of sharing our music. When we do our part to get our music out there, opportunities are created for others to hear our message and for others, including publishers, to take note. John also shares meaningful statistics that cut down the notion that we have to wait for a publisher, in order to be successful in the music industry. “You have, in the palm of you hand, the most overlooked publishing mechanism in the world... We need to lose the excuses of needing the right people… build up your craft so that they’ll be chasing you… it’s an old mindset to think that someone is going to ‘discover’ you. ” John shares three fundamental keys for songwriting success, as given by Ralph Murphy from ASCAP. These simple keys, that are easily implemented will increase the quality and power of your songs. Creating phenomenal songs, and utilizing the power you hold right in your hand, will help secure your platform in the music community.
