The complexities of music industry contracts take center stage as the Seoul court grants Ador's injunction against NewJeans, effectively blocking the group from independent activities under their "NJZ" rebranding. This ruling reinforces a fundamental truth about entertainment contracts—they can't simply be abandoned unilaterally. The stark contrast comes with A.C.E's amicable separation from Beat Interactive, where the company made the unusual decision to allow the group to retain their name and content rights post-contract, describing it as "departing from conventional industry practices."The music scene buzzes with tour announcements G-Dragon unveils PHASE 1 of his "Ubermensch" world tour beginning in Tokyo, while GOT7's Jay B prepares for his first US solo tour "Tape Re:Load" with stops in six major cities—though Boston fans are left disappointed once again. Festival season approaches with Lollapalooza Chicago featuring TWICE, Fujii Kaze, and KATSEYE, while J-Hope continues his festival presence at Lollapalooza Berlin.Beyond music, Snow Man's Shota Watanabe ventures into horror films, playing an aspiring performer investigating haunted locations for social media fame only to encounter genuine supernatural phenomena. Meanwhile, STARTO Entertainment takes significant legal action against ticket resellers, identifying individuals reselling concert tickets and revoking their fan club memberships—sparking our passionate discussion about ethical ticket reselling practices and why the current system hurts both artists and fans.We envision a better approach where resale platforms would maintain original ticket pricing plus reasonable service fees rather than allowing unlimited markups. After all, when shows appear "sold out" but venues remain partially empty because resellers couldn't move overpriced tickets, everyone loses—especially the performers looking out at empty seats. What do you think about the New Jeans ruling? For this Paramount 1945 episode, we look at a couple of male melodramas: The Man in Half Moon Street, a Gothic B-movie starring Nils Asther, "the most beautiful man who ever lived," according to Elise, as a scientist who becomes unscrupulous in his pursuit of eternal youth, and Salty O'Rourke, a Raoul Walsh-directed hit starring Alan Ladd as a racetrack gambler who manipulates an unruly young jockey. The movies also boast fairly substantial love interest parts for Helen Walker as a socialite who sympathizes with Asther's Ubermensch impulses and Gail Russell as a schoolteacher who's caught up in Ladd's schemes. We dive into the question of how to create audience sympathy for a villain-protagonist and the curious nature of the Ladd phenomenon.  Time Codes: 0h 00m 45s:      THE MAN IN HALF MOON STREET [dir. Have you ever wondered about the role faith plays in our lives, and how it impacts our decisions and perceptions? We've embarked on an enlightening journey, concluding our Suspicious Faith series by delving into the thought-provoking critiques of Freud, Marx, and Nietzsche. Uncover how Freud's assertion that faith fulfills unconscious psychological needs, Marx's view of faith as a painkiller, and Nietzsche's multifaceted critique of religion can refine and deepen our faith. Venture further with us into Suspicious Faith as we study Nietzsche's impactful teachings. Challenge yourself to see faith not just as a spiritual shelter but as a philosophical guide to life. As we dissect Nietzsche's assertion 'God is dead' and his concept of Ubermensch, we find an unexpected parallel with James, Jesus's brother, who also urged Christians to be proactive in doing good on earth. This episode will help you embrace the essence of both philosophies - the pursuit of truth and the drive for self-improvement.Lastly, our exploration leads us to the concept of following Jesus. It may seem intimidating or uncertain, but we encourage you to keep engaging, learning, and questioning. Faith isn't about having all the answers but about the journey towards a deeper understanding of divine values. We believe that this pursuit can lead us to a robust, empathetic, transformative faith. Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, this episode will provoke thought and stimulate your mind.Support the show

In this deeper dive into philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche we are going to look at his big ideas and his overall philosophy through the orienting generalisation of his thought as being health vs. decadence. Through this lens we can fruitfully place Nietzsche's "no-saying" work where he critiques Christianity, science and philosophy as well as his "yes-saying" work in Thus Spoke Zarathustra (with Zarathustra's three great ideas of the Ubermensch, the Eternal Recurrence and the Will to Power) and his fascination with the Greek god Dionysus. Nietzsche is commonly known as the Father of Existentialism but he could just as well be called the Father of Psychoanalysis or the Father of Postmodernism. Along with Marx and Freud, Nietzsche is one of the most influential thinkers in the past 200 years. ____________________

In Episode 284 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Marshall Kosloff, the co-host of the Realignment podcast about the recent mid-terms, Trump's announcement that he's running for President of the United States in 2024, the politics of the Ukraine war, and an Ubermensch culture in tech that has influenced conversations about US domestic and foreign policy. The underwhelming performance of republicans in the 2022 mid-term elections has cast into doubt many pundits' expectations about the strength of the Republican party and Trump's own electability in 2024. What caused the underwhelming performance of Republicans in the mid-terms and whether or not that weakness will continue in the next election cycle is something that Demetri and Marshall discuss in the first hour of their conversation today. The second hour is primarily a conversation about the politics of the Ukraine war and the rise of what Demetri describes as a new “Ubermensch” or “Superman” culture in tech. This culture, which intersects with elements of transhumanism, promotes its own version of global governance and a “transnational homelessness” that Demetri believes is antithetical to the wishes and desires of most people on earth. In this episode we argue that the myths and fairy tales we tell ourselves today are situated firmly within the solar traditions of the West. The precession of the equinox's are tracked by our mythology and todays myths are no different. Just as the age of Aries, the age of the ram, was ending, the “Lamb” of God was sacrificed on the Cross, but the age of Pisces, symbolized by two fish, was ushered in by Christ feeding the masses with *two fish.* And now, our secular religion of science, whose doctrines are delivered to us by scientist-priests, are telling us that the world will be drowned by melting glaciers and sea level rise, leaving our civilization a wasteland. This just so happens to come precisely when we pass into the age of Aquarius, symbolized by the sea god drowning the world with his bottomless pots of water. But it also seems, we argue, to coincide with Nietzsches age of nihilism, Spenglers materialistic Winter phase, Evolas spiritual “Iron Age,” which also, according to Evola, corresponds with the Hindu Kali Yuga, an age in which mankind is abandoned by the Gods and the Earth is a spiritual wasteland, waiting for the sleeping king to wake up, the hero to recover the grail, the Caesar to take over, or the Ubermensch to invaluate all values. Here we attempt to synthesize many books and thinkers that you may hear thrown about and use them to get a better perspective on the modern, digital age.For those interested in doing further reading, most of our discussion is built upon reading we've done from Spenglers Decline of the West, Evolas Ride the Tiger, Revolt Against the Modern World, and The Mystery of the Grail, as well as Joseph Campbels's Masks of God, The Hero With a Thousand Faces, Romance of the Grail, Nietzsches Thus Spoke Zarathustra, The Genealogy of Morals, and Twilight of the Idols, and Aion by Carl Jung

Dr. Tim Shaw is a philosopher and creator of the Great Philosophical Problems Think Tank. His main focus is on moral injury and how it relates to military veterans.  The fascinating thing about his research is that it's tied to Friedreich Nietzche's work, Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Likely, you haven't heard of this monumental piece of Western literature but I hope this episode compels you do seek it out. It is the underpinning of our entire modern culture and provides a road map to becoming the "Ubermensch" or superman that transcends God.  From his website: "Our mission is to provide of a unifying definition, and accompanying phenomenology, for the construct of Moral Injury to address suicide in veteran and wider civilian populations. Like the social lexicons provided by traumatic stress nomenclature, we set out to provide the “Moral Grammar” for what has come to be understood as the “Signature Wound” of contemporary war."

"Hi Sandman, Please do a video another video on suicide. I am 27 years old and I have been MGTOW for most of my life. I also love fitness. I cycle around 200 miles a week. And I accomplished most of the career goals I wanted to by the age of twenty three. I worked in DC in US federal politics. I got screwed over and lost my job and had to live with my mother. I just finished my MBA and I teach at a local college. I see now that the world doesn't care about my existence. Therefore, I want to have as much fun as possible while destroying the system. I want to die via hypoxia at 35. I want to use government programs before I do it. This will increase the US debt and help destroy the government. What do you think? What do you think about living like an Ubermensch and then offing yourself when the debt etc comes to roast? Thanks." Well Jared I'd thank you for your questions but they've left me a little bit disturbed. I think you're troubled with regards to wanting to end your life. I feel you should seek out some form of counselling if you're going to off yourself in seven years. You sound rational and sane but you still need counselling. And if no one can talk you out of suicide and you're planning to end your own life regardless attacking the government by racking up debts is not the way to do it. The government has the printing press so any money that you borrow can easily be inflated away. If you really wanted to destroy actual money then I'd suggest buying a bunch of gold and dropping it into the deep blue ocean. But even then the value of the remaining gold above ground would just go up in value and cancel out any destruction of the money you lost in the Ocean. I think you are bitter about losing your job. I think that you want to do whatever you can to take down the government because you lost your government job.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mgtow/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this episode, I discuss again the death of God theology. I root this movement in the rational religion of Kant, which sought to remove the doctrines of historical religions and make them subordinate to an ahistorical and universal moral law. I then describe Nietzsche's character, Zarathustra, and how he sees the “meaning of the earth” in the transcendence of the human in the Ubermensch. I finally discuss Heidegger's notion of anxiety and how it reveals the contingency of all meaning and the inner emptiness of the world. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

This week we're reading The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with The Sea by Yukio Mishima (who I've mispronounced as Yukia Mishima several times.) The book is about a young child named of Noboru, the son of the middle class mother. Noboru and his friends shun the world of adults as illusory and beneath contempt with only a few “permissible” things such as the sea and ships. Noboru's mother Fusako falls in love with a sailor named Ryuiji who Noboru initially identifies as a hero. Ryuji rises above the domestication of modernity, only to fall from grace as he leaves the life of a sailor to become a husband and, worst of all, a father. Yukio's grotesque and engrossing tale of Ubermensch children will leave you queasy and contemplative. Yukio Mishima is perhaps Japan's best known novelist. Of samurai lineage, he is known for his extreme, nationalist politics and intense devotion to his art. His works range from poetry to theatre, but he is best known for his magnum opus tetrology the Sea of Fertility. After finishing the last words of the Sea of Fertility, Mishima attempted a coup against the Japanese government to restore the Emperor in which he failed and performed seppuku - ritual Japanese suicide. Next week we're reading the first half of the The Last Samurai by Mark Ravina.
