An Karfreitag gedenken wir der Hingabe Jesu, der am Kreuz blieb, nicht weil er machtlos war, sondern weil er in tiefem Gehorsam und Liebe die Menschheit retten wollte. Entgegen der Logik der Welt, die Stärke und Kontrolle fordert, zeigt sich Gott gerade in der Schwäche und im Mitleid mit den Menschen. Wie Dietrich Bonhoeffer treffend schrieb, kann uns nur ein leidender Gott wirklich helfen, da er unsere tiefsten Abgründe, Einsamkeit und das Versagen selbst durchlebt hat. Das Kreuz ist somit keine Niederlage, sondern der triumphale Ort der Versöhnung, an dem Gott uns mitten im Zerbruch begegnet und uns durch sein Opfer neue Freiheit und Hoffnung schenkt.

The researchers found, in surveying 2,170 Jewish Israelis and 459 Arab Israelis, that there is a drastic shift in Israelis' perceptions of their society and politicians. Both aspects of Ben Gvir's trip were highly documented, including his statement on the ongoing war in Gaza. Ben Gvir said, “I am saying, davka [intentionally] from here, from the Temple Mount — the place from which it was proven that it is possible to have sovereign rule — davka from here, we are relaying a message that from today on, we are conquering the entire Gaza Strip, announcing our sovereignty on the entire Gaza Strip, and taking down every Hamas member and encouraging voluntary emigration. Only in this way will we return the hostages and win the war.” Ben Gvir's semi-messianic vision may come partially true as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears poised to announce an IDF operation aimed at conquering the entire Gaza Strip. Resettlement of the Palestinian enclave, says Rettig Gur, is a completely different matter. What sets John Rettig's CFO journey apart from most is not just its length—spanning more than two decades—but its unusual symmetry. His CFO career roughly divides into two decade-long tenures: first helping scale a digital advertising firm from $15 million to $250 million in revenue, and now serving as CFO of Bill, where he's helped lead the company from startup to public market success.When Rettig joined Bill, the company had just $13 million in revenue and a modest employee base. What drew him in, he tells us, was the combination of people, culture, and a product that placed finance operations at the center of its design. It was the first time in his career that he'd worked this closely with a finance-focused technology platform.At the time, Rettig anticipated a 10x growth opportunity—similar to his earlier experience. “It turns out, it's 100x,” he tells us. Today, Bill has 2,500 employees, serves 500,000 customers, and supports a network of 7 million members. The company processes $300 billion in annual payment volume and has grown to $1.5 billion in revenue.Much of that growth, Rettig explains, has come from addressing the operational challenges of small and midsize businesses. Early efforts to modernize paper-based processes helped shape the company's current offerings, which span accounts payable, receivable, corporate cards, and cash flow management.“We become the center of their financial operations,” Rettig says of the platform's role. His focus remains on scaling Bill's impact across the “Fortune 5 million.”

Five days in, Israel's battle to destroy the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear weapons infrastructure continues. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched the campaign in the wake of a decision by the IAEA Board to censure Iran a resolution declaring that Iran is in breach of its non-proliferation obligations, one day past a Donald Trump imposed deadline of 60 days for Iran to agree to relinquish its uranium enrichment capabilities. Iran has responded with indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets in Israel. Can Israel destroy Iran's nuclear program? Is that possible without the United States? What role will the United States play? And can the Tehran regime survive? Haviv Gur is a veteran Israeli journalist who serves as Senior Analyst for The Times of Israel. At a Cairo summit of Arab leaders on Tuesday, a consensus of states adopted an Egyptian reconstruction plan for Gaza that would cost $53 billion and avoid displacing Palestinians from the enclave -- in contrast to US President Donald Trump’s “Middle East Riviera” vision. The over 100-page “Early Recovery, Reconstruction, Development of Gaza” plan envisions a Gaza Administration Committee, made up of independent technocrats, to manage an initial six-month transitional phase. It also urges elections in all Palestinian areas within a year, if conditions support such a move. The rub? The plan doesn’t explicitly tackle the issue of Hamas and how the terror group will be disarmed -- if at all. It also pushes for a Palestinian state before addressing any of the armed Palestinian factions. Rettig Gur dissects elements of the plan and weighs in on its seriousness.
