‘‘The Fish' is back on the Hook! Following on from the first episode of the Rob Herring interview on the Torq Moto Podcast Show driven by Talon, 'the Fish' is back and continues the chat with hosts ‘Jeffro' Perrett and DocWob on his awesome motocross career. In this episode, the trio discusses the later part of Rob's hugely successful MX racing life, how it all came to an end for him, and how he's kept his eye on riding motorcycles for his day job. It's all interesting stuff, yet again Herring talks calmly and openly through it all with genuine affection, not only on his racing years but also on the names he reminisces and his love for the sport. There's also the announcement of his plans to return to racing this year at the VMXDN Foxhill and, what bike he's considering riding and how he'll prepare. Even to the point of what race kit he has in mind for the much-anticipated race on August Bank holiday weekend, where he took a race victory at the very first GP there as discussed in episode one. He has well and truly got the racing bug again and will also be riding at Farleigh Castle Vets MX in September. Don't forget to like and subscribe to keep up to speed with past or future episodes. Grab your tickets to VMXdN Foxhill here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vmxdn-foxhill-2024-tickets-753835631667 or for Farleigh Castle Vets MX https://my.weezevent.com/farleigh-castle-vets-mx or join us for both! It's tiiiiime! Mark 'Watto' Watson and Martin Devlin are back for another episode of the ATM (Apologise to Me!) podcast on It's Only Sport, where they gather round the debating table to dissect a variety of sporting topics in New Zealand and across the globe. On episode 69, Watto and Marty talk about the Black Caps' victory in the first cricket test against a weakened South African side, some NRL players struggling to gain entry into the USA for the Las Vegas matches, Six Nations rugby and Rob Herring suggesting Ireland-France is the World Cup final everyone wanted in 2023, and more.
On Tuesday's Rugby Daily, Richie McCormack brings you news of a groundbreaking Women's Lions tour. Rob Herring's Six Nations involvement is in severe doubt, as Munster add to their treatment list too. We hear from Louis Rees-Zammit on his decision to try his hand in the NFL. Evan O'Connell speaks after being named Ireland U20 captain ahead of the Six Nations. And in France, Bastien Chalureau is cleared of racism.

It was a miserable night and in many ways a pretty miserable game on Friday night against the Lions, but Ulster found a way to get the win so we're going to stay positive! Despite being down by seven points at halftime, Dan McFarland's men went up a gear in the second half and ultimately held on for a 24-17 victory. In horrendous conditions at fortress Ravenhill, it was not the most entertaining of games to put it lightly. Tries from James Hume, Stockdale and Rob Herring allowed Ulster to claw their way back into the game but there is plenty to work on this week with a misfiring lineout, difficulty capitalizing on chances and some evidence that we haven't yet nailed down the basics. Ulster have now won four of their opening five URC games but there's still a section of the fanbase who are not content with our performances so far this season, despite the relatively good win record. Do they have a point? There's also the matter of whether a certain ginger prop will be playing or Ulster this weekend. That's right – Cameron Doak could be unleashed on the Warriors. To discuss I'm joined by Jack, Ian special guest John Anderson – Glasgow Warriors fan and podcaster with the Scottish Rugby Podcast as we look ahead to the Glasgow game this weekend.
Rob Herring is the Co-Founder of Earth Conscious Life and Tip News. He directed/produced/wrote The Need To GROW, winner of multiple Best Documentary awards and seen in 175 countries around the world. Ireland and Ulster hooker Rob Herring spoke to Aisling O'Reilly at the launch of the return of ALDI's Play Rugby Sticker Competition. It gives every primary school in the country the opportunity to win a €50,000 sports facility makeover by collecting ALDI's Rugby stickers when they spend €25 or more in their local ALDI store.
Fourteen-man Leinster produced an outstanding comeback to beat Ulster 38-29 in Dublin, Cian Healy was shown a red card on 21 minutes and Ulster were up 22-3 after a good start with tries from Rob Herring, Kieran Treadwell and Ethan McIlroy. Everything seemed to be going Ulster's way and we #daredtodream as we approached the break. The second half was a different story: Leinster hit back with five tries and our dreams were dashed. Ulster went down to 13 men in the second half when James Hume and Nick Timoney were shown yellow cards, with Leinster taking full advantage. It is now nine wins from nine matches in this season's URC for Leinster, with Saturday night's victory stretching their lead at the top to nine points. This was a really difficult one to take. In this episode to discuss last night's game I'm joined by Leinster fan Nathan Johns and Ulster fan Jack Fogarty.

We look at NZ's relative lack of structure, the diminishing power of their front five, and whether Foster can survive, or whether the Graham Henry Bootroom Era has to come to an end.

Best known for his film The Need to Grow, in this episode we learn about Rob's mycelial path to where he is now, with lots of ecological parallels & helpful resources sprinkled throughout. We cover many insights for creatives looking to find their path in the Earth-centered movement, as well a list of resources for farmers looking to transition away from chemical farming. This was such a fun episode to record and I know everyone will learn a lot! Show notes: How Rob saw the need for transtioning away from doom & gloom type activism around GMOs & glyphosate, and decided to do it through solutions-based storytelling showing a diverse set of hopeful options in a documentary, The Need to Grow Rob's creative leap into activism by writing songs about GMOs & other environmental issues, which went over well & people started connecting with him and bringing him opportunities. Through the journey to make the documentary, he learned how important soil is and that working with soil needed to be the focus of their work. It's about restoring the carbon cycle through healthy microbial life and plant roots - getting away from extractive farming & helping heal the literal foundation of all life on earth. Overcoming the fear of sharing our creative work for the greater good - it allows us to spark passion and action in other people & remind them of the importance of their work. Sixty years sounds like a long time. Well, unless you are Mother Earth. Because sixty is how many years of farmable soil we have left on this planet. That dirt you're standing on has purpose. It improves water cycles, protect farmers, prevents toxic pollution, increases nutrient density, enhances human health resilience, and balances atmospheric carbon. But if you're stepping all over it rather than just standing on it... no bueno. Rob Herring is on a mission to help as many people as possible understand that. And with simple solutions we can all have a positive impact and begin to see a change for good. But the director and producer of the award-winning film The Need To GROW and co-founder of the platform Earth Conscious Life has a health healing story of his own. And over the years, he's used his musical talents to bring awareness to the state of our planet. From his critically acclaimed GMO OMG and world-famous Zeitgeist Trilogy to his songwriting for health and eco activism, Rob's journey is creating a space for all to be touched, moved and inspired into rebuilding a more regenerative future. Time for another trip down memory lane with our ‘On the line’ podcasts in association with FXR Racing. This time Jeffro pulls the car over for a chat with multiple British MX champion, GP and MXON winner - Rob ‘The Fish’ Herring. The Fish was one of the most exciting riders of his generation with an incredible raw speed and an all out action packed style on the race track. He rode for all four of the Japanese manufacturers and was a member of Great Britain’s last MXON winning team. Here he chats to Jeff about racing as a kid in America, coming to back to the U.K and life as a GP racer in the 90’s and pizza eating contests!
The Six Nations squad has been announced and with it, the usual, inevitable controversy. Host Gareth Hanna is this week joined by rugby reporting duo Jonathan Bradley and Michael Sadlier to discuss, first up, John Cooney's omission from the panel and what it means for his future on both an international and provincial level. Also not in the squad, of course, was Jacob Stockdale, whose injury is worse than first hopes. As well as that, there are the five players who made the cut to discuss - Rob Herring, Stuart McCloskey, Billy Burns, the uncapped Tom O'Toole and Iain Henderson, returning from injury. Back at Kingspan, there's a whole spate of contract renewals coming out but what of those yet to be announced?
There is no denying we face a reality where our world is under threat from climate crisis and planetary disease. The answer to this problem could be in the soil. Today's guest is Rob Herring, and he believes our fate lies in the hands of Earth and it's up to us how we treat our little blue planet. Rob wears many hats and is notable for his achievements in musical activism and environmental filmmaking. In this episode, we talk in depth about his latest picture, The Need To GROW, and the inspiration behind it.He tells us how contemporary activism is fuelled by anger, blame and finger-pointing, while his film sways from this and aims to change the status quo by not only educating, but by providing solutions too. Throughout this rich and hopeful conversation, we learn about the importance of soil health and how it has a direct impact on the way we live. Yet, we find out that we haven't even scratched the surface when it comes to soil science, as Rob notes that humanity knows more about stars billions of miles away that the soil our food grows in.Tuning in, you will hear about the unlimited potential of soil and how regenerative farming could not only solve radical climate change but also pull the reins on disease and even conflict. It all starts with realising we are just connected to Earth as it is connected to us. Join us in this very special episode! Did you know that we have merely 60 years left of growable soil? That is if we continue doing farming the way we do today, with destructive practices like tilling, mono-cropping, and fertilizer use. The good thing is that soil has an incredible ability to regenerate itself and that it's hungry for carbon. And if it's something we have way too much of in our atmosphere today, it's just that. So by changing our agricultural practices and build for healthy soils, we can create a machine that will not only grow more nutrient dense foods, but also help sequester all the CO2 currently stored in our air.In other words - no only do we have the ability to save the soil, but if we do, the soil might very well save us.This is live Q&A with Rob Herring, the director of the incredible film The Need To Grow. If you haven't seen the film already I highly recommend you watch it - head over to www.theneedtogrow.com and start getting excited about soil!If you want to participate in more thing like this and learn how to empower yourself as a change-maker and activist, check out The Action Squad. After watching the film ‘The Need To Grow’, I knew I had to get whoever was behind it on the show. That man (along with his business partner and side kick Ryan Wirick) was Rob Herring. (If you haven’t already seen the film, then I can’t stress enough how important it is that you do.) With an estimated 60 years of farmable soil left on Earth, The Need To GROW follows the personal journeys of solution innovators as they fight to heal our broken food system and regenerate our planet's dying soils. The Need To GROW is a feature documentary following underdog leaders of decentralized solutions and cutting edge technologies to fix our broken food system and regenerate our planet’s dying soils. With an estimated 60 years of farmable soil left on Earth, more toxic chemicals sprayed than ever before, seed varieties going extinct, bees dying off, historic water shortages, epidemics of malnutrition, the time to heal our food system, our environment and ourselves is now. But can we feed the world without destroying it? In the show we discussed: Rob’s background and how her got into the natural health world How he met his partner Ryan Wirick and how they came up with the idea to shoot the film How they came across the different people that they followed in the show Mike Smith, the Green Power House, and how it could change the world Why the soil and insects are so important to the health of the planet How growing our own food and support local farmers is essential for our survival as a species How mushrooms can regenerate the soil and heal the earth Why it’s not all doom and gloom and what we can do to regenerate the planet & much much more It was a real pleasure talking to Rob. He is a like minded soul who really cares about the planet and his film is a testament to his vision for a healthy future. In the fifth episode of The Breakdown and the first of the 2017/18 season, Simon Hunter is joined by Rob Herring and Stu McCloskey to discuss how they got in to rugby, what they would be doing if they didn't play and the impact the new coaches are having on the squad.
Like a lot of folks, Rob Herring was concerned about the toxic systems that produce our food, though he knew practically nothing about alternative farming methods. But through a series of events, he become involved with the campaign to label genetically modified foods in California. From there, his journey eventually led him to making a film about solutions. The film, entitled "The Need to Grow," shares some amazing stories of people who are growing food in ways that do not include toxins; build more nutrient density; and actually help to nurture and improve the land. They wanted to focus on what can be done on a local, community level and ask, "What powers do we have at our fingertips?" The stories they uncovered open a whole new world of possibilities that are being explored, but are perhaps not being publicized as much as they should be. Rob and Ryan connected with Larry Santoyo of The Permaculture Academy in Los Angeles, who shares about permaculture, a system of design that's based on how nature works and is transforming how we grow food all over the world. They also met a powerful 9 year old activist who started a petition to get GMOs out of Girl Scout Cookies. One story led to another, organically, you might say. Thus they were led to a farm called Alegria Fresh that grows a huge amount of nutrient dense food on a relatively small parcel of land using alternative techniques with much less water and fertilizer. They also visited a place in Montana called the Green Powerhouse that diverts waste products from the landfill to create soil amendments and energy. Incredibly, the system is contained within a pyramid. Rob shares some fascinating stories from his journey, that show what average folks are doing to provide powerful solutions to some of our most vexing ecological and health problems. But Rob and Ryan need some financial help in launching the project. If you're interested in supporting them, please go to their kickstarter page, here.
