The HBS hosts try to go viral with Andrew Baron, creator of KnowYourMeme. Memes: if you get them, you get them... and if you don't, you don't. But how is a meme created? How does it spread? And how does it die? In this episode, we dig into the complex dynamics of memes-- on Dawkins' account, the most rudimentary units of social information-- to see how they do (and don't) imitate so-called "natural" processes in their generation, mutation, adaptation, and replication. With our special guest, Andrew Baron (creator of Rocketboom and KnowYourMeme), we also investigate what, if anything, distinguishes an "internet meme" from other kinds of memes, and how internet memes may provide a unique insight into social operations and cultural formations.Full episode notes at this link:http://hotelbarpodcast.com/podcast/episode-64-memes------------------If you enjoy Hotel Bar Sessions podcast, please be sure to subscribe, submit a rating/review, and follow us on Twitter @hotelbarpodcast.
- Outlook webaccess
Kerry Lauerman of Salon.com and Andrew Baron of Rocketboom on the anti-Hilary Clinton "1984" ad; historian Michael Henry Adams on Columbia University's West Harlem expansion plans. Plus bike issues with Noel Budnick of Transportation Alternatives.
--- Boycott DRM beskyttet musik i marts måned. Deltag i protesten. --- http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/02/21/google-launches-apps-premier/ Google lancerer Apps Premier. **Not** - Lokalnet - Magnus's batteri i hans MacBook - Registreringsdatabasen - garanti for fuckup. - Vista skal have 4GB ram for at fungere ordenligt.

After watching the video from Miami I saw the show was not as good as I thought it was, very dissappointed, bought camera-bought tapes-charged battery (almost didn't have enough charge), the lighting was horroble so the tape bleaches my face out, finished Robyn's family's video from SAK while waiting at a Universal open call audition, transfered all the extra video off my laptop onto my hard drive so I couls start editing the Miami video, Andrew from Rocketboom inspires me to hook my laptop up to my camera while I am filming, added "imakepodcasts.com" to the beginning of the Miami clip, added graphics during thedark part of the video at the beginning, waste of time because i don't think the show is very good, good to at least have it online in case I need it later, I have to fly Anthony to Dirty South, complaining about Dirty South costs, my dvd idea, went to Orlando Creatives meeting

Witness the pageantry of the ring entrances of these two superstars and what happens during the playing of the Filipino National Anthem!
Vietnam Ventures: Fish Boy Watch the video This video played last year as a Rocketboom episode but I never put it up on the vlog, so I thought it was time to add it. It is one of those neat magical moments where you decide to film someone and then they end up doing something which I found to be quite extraordinary.

Booming in Berlin Watch the video Here is the full video I did for Rocketboom while at the Weallspeakfootball.com bloggers house in Berlin. It is about the Street Football World Championshipsthat took place as part of the World Cup festivities. The event was a great counterpoint to the commercialism of the World Cup. These kids all come from underprivileged circumstances from all over the world and were playing for nothing more than the chance to travel and love of the game. It was really interesting to film them and learn a little bit about how football is helping to bring messages of hope from some very troubled areas of the world. If these kid's views represent the future of their respective countries, then it is time for me to become an official optimist.A good blog post on the event can be seen here World Cup Blog
Those of you who have tried watching the Slammy Award footage from YouTube that I posted below, don't bother anymore. It appears those fuckers suspended the account of the dude who posted those videos for violating WWE copyrights. Oh well...On an unrelated note, congratulations to the Hartford Whalers on winning the Stanley Cup last week. What the hell is hockey doing in the carolinas anyway?!? I must commend former Philadelphia Flyer, Rod Brind'Amour on finally sipping from the Cup. A shame he didn't get it while he was in Philly.Speaking of hockey...here's a gem found on YouTube.com which I doubt will get pulled in the near future, but of course you never know. It comes from the movie, "Swingers", and features NHL HOCKEY on the SEGA GENESIS. Actually I think it was really NHLPA '93. Vince Vaughn says they took out fighting in the game but let you knock a guy out and make 'em bleed. I'm pretty sure they took out both fighting and blood in NHL 94, but fighting and blood were all a part of NHLPA 93. Oh well, who gives a shit. It's still one of the greatest scenes in a movie ever.
Ah...the beauties of YouTube.com.I was able to get my ECW One Night Stand fix via those loveable users on YouTube. If you search hard enough, you'll probably be able to find them. I'll probably do a podcast soon sharing my thoughts on the PPV. Meanwhile, I've discovered a couple gems from YouTube that I'd like to share (at least until they probably get yanked!). The first playlist here features the highlights of the 1997 WWF SLAMMY AWARDS. The first video features Mankind's infamous acceptance speech for "Loosest Screw". Not only is his speech HIGH-larious, but Paul Bearer's comments on Sunny are awesome as well (We love it when they break KAYFABE!!!!!). The second video features Owen Hart (Greatest Wrestler EVER!!!) accepting his unprecedented 2nd SLAMMY Award. And finally we have another late great in Brian Pillman. Not as good as the first two videos, but funny how he busts Austin 3:16 for being blasphemous. And then we have here the WeBleed4Real's contributions to YouTube. "Damn did that suck, were you guys even trying? Seriously, you make me and my friends look pretty good when compared to you"- Solidus87"When are you idiots going to kill yourselves?? oh wait... you actually have to do wrestling move to actually get hurt.. damn you guys suck so bad you will probably do this crap FOREVER. BOOO!!"- CreepX"Haha! Now that...was craptacular! WeSuck4Real!! Holy Sh.."- KingEstevez

Sorry about the lack of updates for you 'WB4R' fans. Been pretty busy with some other stuff lately. However, I noticed on the calendar that we're coming up on the 3-year anniversary of the passing of our friend Marcus (a.k.a. Grace Cornchip/SkullMaster). So I wanted to post up this video that I made right after hearing the news of Marcus's death. We were fortunate enough to capture all these moments of him making us smile and laugh on video. Hopefully this video along with other videos illustrate the amount of joy he brought to our lives and that his memory will never fade. I tried to look for the original Hi8 tape that I made this video montage from so that I could make it a little better quality, but I couldn't find it. So I don't know if this H.263 format is exactly video podcast friendly or not, but it doesn't really matter. I just wanted to put something up to remember him by. Maybe down the road, I'll make a new cleaner version from some of the footage that I got. Duration: 4:47 File Size: 16.67 MB File Format: Quicktime H.263 video (.mov)

It's not usual protocol for the WB4R podcast to promote matches other than NJHC/WWF matches. However, your favorite podcaster just has this guilty pleasure of watching some rare wrestling footage on YouTube.com. Yes, there's a lot of crap, but I love seeing the classic World Wrestling Federation videos that people post, as well as some rare Japanese videos that I wouldn't normally see.I stumbled upon a match between Hulk Hogan and The Great Muta, who was for a long-time The Ivy Leaguer's favorite wrestler (you can see that the Harvard Elbow is very Muta-esque in its execution). According to the post, this match took place in Japan around 1993. I think Hogan left the WWF in 1993 when he lost the title to Yokozuna. It's weird though. He's wearing the WWF title belt, yet he's wearing what looks like WCW Hulka-wear and he's accompanied to the ring by Jimmy Hart. What's neat about this video is that it's like a bizarro-world. In this match, Hogan doesn't really suck up to the fans like he does in the USA. And even more weird is that Hogan actually does some WRESTLING MOVES!!!Anyway, this isn't an official podcast, just a link here on the blog to the YouTube Flash movie. I'm interested in what you WB4R fans think about it.

This brutal match from the MARIO PARTY PPV features HardCore Herman vs. The Ivy Leaguer where the winner draws enough blood from his opponent to make him a bloody mess. Witness the first half of this match exclusively on the WB4R podcast! Was The Dark One able to overcome The Ivy Leaguer along with the Sensational Shannon and a crooked referee?!? This video podcast features a match from Cornchip Christmas: Greg The Dude vs. Fat Whacker. Waldo Corniford provides play-by-play, and Paul Schiavone does color commentary. This was featured previously on the last WeBleed4Real audio podcast, but this is the complete video. As you can tell, the video 'action' does not exactly do justice to the superb commentary.I was too lazy to get an audio podcast out this week. Maybe next time, but enjoy this for now.In other news, WWE.com is saying that Christian has quit. If Mr. Jay Reso is at all interested in joining the WB4R team, he is always welcome. On an unrelated note, I guess the Eagles are learning that you can't pull a victory out of your ass EVERY week. Let's hope they get their act together with some upcoming pivotal NFC East division games. We almost broke 100 'readers' according to our Feedburner stats this past week. Keep subscribing fans!Happy Birthday to Mrs. Spoonman!

This is version 2 of SkullMaster vs. The Dude. I'm experimenting with video file formats. This is exported from iMovie/Quicktime Pro using the new "Export to iPod" option. Here are differences I noticed from the Quicktime H.264 version of the same movie:1. It sized it to 320 x 213 instead of 320 x 240.2. The file size came out to 20 MB, where the first version was just under 10 MB3. The data rate was 680.75 kbits/sec compared to 337.17 kbits/sec, so that was likely a factor in the difference in file size.4. The video quality is better likely because of the data rate5. Apparently this .m4v file extension's default application opens up iTunes automatically and copies to your iTunes Library. I don't think you can play it within your browser like the other Quicktime formats, which isn't cool to me.Let your podcast host know which file format you like better, as we try to figure out what works best for loyal viewers.
This is the first-ever video podcast of a full-length wrestling match featuring the WWF champion Skullmaster taking on Greg The Dude in a tournament to determine the Undisputed NJHC/WWF champion. This comes from the NJHC Season Finale. The Ivy Leaguer is also featured giving medical advice to The Dude during the pre-match segment. Also of note is the "Blair Witch Project"-style camera work. This is a Quicktime movie with the H.264 video codec. And yes, it is compatible with the new video iPods! It is highly recommended that you view video podcasts through iTunes 6 and have Quicktime Player 7 installed.iTunes 6 can be downloaded for free here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/downloadQuicktime 7 can be downloaded for free here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download
