Inter Miami traveled up north to face DC United in their 2nd match of the season. Not even 2 minutes in, Rodolpho Pizzaro made history with our clubs 1st ever goal! On a beautiful assist from Robbie Robinson, Pizarro was able to put the ball behind the goalie to go up, 1-0. All things were going great… Until the 2nd half were things started to spire out of control. Lewis Morgan put the ball behind the DC United’s goalie thanks to a ricochet off a DC defender to score our 2nd ever goal. However… The call was quickly reversed due to a controversial DOGSO penalty against Roman Torres. Not only did we loose a point, we also lost Torres and had to play man-down for the remainder of the match. A few minutes later… more bad news, Ulloa was called for a high kick in the box, which results in Yamil Asad converting on a PK. BUT WAIT! There’s more…. Just a few minutes after that, Wil Trapp gets called on a slide tackle leading to an Edison Flores free kick. The kick did not go in! However… With the ball bouncing off the side-post, Brillant was able to connect on the rebound resulting in a score of, 2-1. After valiant efforts, Miami was unable to come from the deficit and being man-down, our club suffered their first heartbreak… Join the guys as they break down our week 2 match against DC United and share a preview of our 1st ever home-game this weekend, against the LA We love feedback from the Inter Miami Community! We come to you feeling not quite as good as the last time we were gathered. The Sounders are coming off a very disappointing loss which came at the end of a very tumultuous week in which the Sounders felt compelled to apologize to supporters and Roman Torres was given a 10-game ban for testing positive for PEDs. Buy Nos Audietis Merchandise The game was frustrating on many levels, not the least of which was falling behind 2-0 at home to a team that wasn't much healthier than the Sounders were and in the midst of some pretty bad overall play.  The one positive was a genuinely outstanding performance from Jordan Morris, who scored his third career brace and was a bit unlucky not to have his first career hat trick.  By the time you listen to this, hopefully, the Sounders will have made at least one new signing although we don't yet have confirmation of that.  This week's music: Perry Como - "Seattle", "RVIVR - "Ocean Song", Woody Guthrie - "Roll On Columbia", "Your Journey Begins" - OurMusicBox (Jay Man) (CC BY 4.0) Thanks to James Woollard, Sounders Public Address Announcer, for doing our sponsor reads. It's been three weeks since we last record and, wow, has a lot happened. The Sounders have played four matches, going 1-0-3, made two huge signings and, most recently, suffered one particularly painful loss. By now, you've surely heard that Chad Marshall has decided to retire, effective immediately. The decision, best we can tell, was a bit sudden, but also somewhat forced by the knowledge that there was some degredation going on in his surgically repaired knee. Marshall was one of just two players remaining from the Sounders 2014 double-winning squad, was still one of the best defenders in the league at the age of 34 and was genuinely considered one of the most popular player among teammates. Luckily, it looks like the Sounders are in a good position to cover for his loss. Roman Torres has been playing well, going 90 minutes in all three games last week. The Sounders also have signed Marshall's expected longterm replacement, Ecuador international Xavier Arreaga. Arreaga was one of two deadline day signings, with the other being Joevin Jones. Kick in Russ – Die WM 2018 – meinsportpodcast.de

On this episode of Soccer 2 the MAX, Sean Garmer and Erik Watkins breakdown the first legs of the MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals. Does the 0-0 draw truly benefit Toronto FC? Could the Columbus Crew get the upset? And is there more shenanigans happening at Mapfre stadium with attendance? The 2-0 victory for the Seattle Sounders puts them in the driver's seat. However, it's not done yet for the Houston Dynamo. But how much are the losses of Roman Torres and Alberth Elis going to hurt? And are we setting up for a MLS Cup Final rematch? After that, the guys discuss a bunch of different topics. Real Salt Lake entering NWSL. The Boston Breakers potentially being in trouble. CONCACAF finally deciding on the Nations League starting in September 2018. Could CONMEBOL eventually join too? Plus, Caleb Porter out as Portland Timbers coach. An idea presented by Paul Tenorio about MLS cash trades, and more.

The Sounders head into the final stretch of the season in fine position. Although they are coming off a 2-0 loss on the road to the Philadelphia Union, they beat the first-place Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 at home earlier in the week. That leaves the Sounders comfortably in fourth place and with a semi-reasonable hope of still grabbing a bye. But as long as they can win at least one of their final two homes, hosting a first-round playoff game seems like a solid bet. If there's a dark cloud hanging over the team right now, it's injuries. As great as they looked in the win over the Whitecaps, their starting lineup against the Union was missing four key components and a fifth was playing with a broken arm. Clint Dempsey was merely given a rest and it looks like Roman Torres will be fine, but Osvaldo Alonso looks like he'll be out for a bit and Cristian Roldan has a broken arm that probably won't be fully healed until the seaosn is over. Jeremiah and Aaron discuss all of this, while also considering how big of a deal it would be for the United States to fail to qualify for the World Cup. As it turned out, Jeremiah had a chance to interview Garth Lagerwey the same day our normal show was released. We are planning to release that full interview next week. But as the interview was wrapping up, we got word that Roman Torres' red card had been rescinded. Being that we already had Lagerwey on the record, it seemed like a good chance to get his thoughts on not only the successful appeal, but his thoughts on how VAR is currently being used.

MLS Cup is just days away, and the guys are on the ground in Toronto to soak in the championship atmosphere. To help set the stage, former Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid brings his inside knowledge to the table for a championship preview you won’t want to miss. First up, which club and which city has more on the line with a first-ever MLS Cup at stake? What’s MLS Cup week like for coaches, players and fans? What did Greg Vanney and Brian Schmetzer do to get their squad rolling? In the second segment, the guys dive into a tactical breakdown that’ll get you up to speed on what’ll go down between the lines at BMO Field. How should the Sounders deploy Nicolas Lodeiro? How can Toronto FC get the best from Sebastian Giovinco, who didn’t look like himself against Montreal? Who will come out on top between Jozy Altidore, Chad Marshall and Roman Torres in what promises to be a battle of the titans? What does Michael Bradley need to do to keep the Reds rolling?  Predictions come first up in the mailbag, with the crew split as Schmid goes with his heart. Soccer doesn’t take a break for the holidays, and neither do Andrew and Dave in the wake of the first leg of the Conference Championships. With Matt off eating brisket in Texas somewhere, the guys celebrate Thanksgiving in the broom closet by breaking down the return of the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs on Tuesday night.  First up, the measurement snafu at Olympic Stadium that delayed the game for half an hour, but has David making Copa Libertadores comparisons. Let’s just say it was memorable. The delay didn’t effect the Impact, who jumped out to a 3-0 lead that had Toronto FC fans thinking déjà vu following last season’s playoff disappointment. Only it wasn’t to be, as the Reds stormed back to grab two away goals. In the late game, it was a similar tale. Colorado scored first, but Seattle quickly found their feet and ended up with a 2-1 win at home that sets up a tantalizing second leg on Sunday afternoon. Sounders right back Tyrone Mears could make the difference in that game, and he calls in to chat with the guys about the playoff atmosphere in Seattle, the team’s up-and-down 2016 campaign, Nicolas Lodeiro’s class, Jordan Morris’ future, Roman Torres’ dance moves and an international career that took some strange turns. Then Dave and Andrew offer their takes on Bruce Arena’s new/old post with the US national team and Celtic’s rumored interest in Darlington Nagbe. In the mailbag, it’s time to give thanks. For the soccer community, for MLS, for everything that makes the beautiful game unique in the United States and Canada.
