In the realm of music enthusiasts and vinyl collectors, few names command as much respect and admiration as Keb Darge. The legendary out-spoken Scotsman has left an indelible mark on the world of music with has an uncanny ability to unearth rare and forgotten musical treasures.Over the past 40-plus years, he has been heavily involved in the northern soul, deep funk, rockabilly, and sixties garage scenes. On this episode of The Paul Weller Fan Podcast, we hear the true story about his journey in music - from dance competitions (driven by the prize money on offer!) to a fascination with obscure music genres that lead to him exploring the depths of record distribution warehouses all over the world. As soon as he had enough money together he started collecting and buying Northern Soul in the UK, during regular trips to the US and was starting to play around the Wigan area at the heyday of The Casino. By 1981 he had gained a respectful reputation as a DJ.His legendary nights at London's 'Madame Jojo's' and 'The Blue Note' showcased his knack for introducing audiences to tracks that had been relegated to obscurity. His unique selections rejuvenated dance floors and gave new life to forgotten sounds. This fella had control of Madame Jo Jo's every Friday for 18 years, and every Saturday for 10 years - playing incredible music that you would normally only hear at the most serious scene events.Keb's uncanny ability to spot musical gold amidst stacks of vinyl propelled him to become a renowned DJ and collector. As you'll hear on this podcast, Keb met Paul Weller whilst DJing at a one of a birthday party for Nicky Weller. The two got along well, and Keb started sourcing rare records for Paul, leading to them DJ'ing together at nights in London and Europe. As he always does with DJs, Keb kept a close eye on what Paul was pulling out of his record box. “Not a duff tune in sight, with records ranging from classic floor fillers to the super obscure. He was not tainted by any collectors' scene attitude, just played the tunes he liked...”The pair ended up collaborating on a compilation release in 2010 called Lost & Found - Real R'n'B and Soul.and remain friends to this day... Episode three of Chart Attack is all about serial bop merchant and Scottish DJ legend Calvin Harris, as we explore his 2009 number 1 ‘I'm Not Alone'. This was a pivotal period for Calvin as he transitioned from oddball indie electro maverick into massive global star pumping out hit after hit, becoming the king of the summer banger. We'll talk about that journey from the bonkers and frankly iconic ‘Calvin In Dumfries' to just how this song became his first number 1 single. We'll also chat a bit about the events of 2009, including The Horrors, pigeons and pineapples, as well as taking a trip to Dino Park and pondering the question, ‘Why do all DJs seem to be so tall?' Chart Attack is brought to you by Dork. It's hosted by Abigail Firth and Martyn Young and produced by Patrick Gunning. Chart data is sourced from the Official Charts Company. Today's premiere showcases Scottish DJ and producer Arkley with his track ‘Pray For Rave' from his latest EP titled ‘Channel A' on Spirit of Rave Records. This stunning track is a modern tip to old-school 90s rave influences that draw clear inspiration from acts like Orbital and The Prodigy who defined that generation. Arkley's latest track ‘Pray For Rave' features as part of his latest EP titled ‘Channel A', dropping on his Spirit of Rave Records imprint. Beginning with a flurry rush of energy and euphoria, tinging towards acid house inspirations and early 90s rave sounds. Loaded with hypnotic 303 synth pulses, irresistible M1 keyboard stabs, uplifting gospel vocals and jacking old school house rhythms, Arkley continues his signature reworking of classic 90s dance sounds where he is turning them into club ready compositions. Receiving massive support from BBC, DMC World and Judge Jules in the process. If you are a fan of this particular type of sound, you will be pleased to hear that Arkley has his own radio show called ‘Spirit of Rave', where he fuses tracks together, new and old, from 90s dance music for the modern day. Arkley on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 11am PST 9/30/22 About Arkley - Launching in 2021, Arkley is a new Scottish DJ and producer influenced by classic 90s rave, house and big beat acts such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and early Daft Punk. Arkley announced his 'Origins EP' in summer 2022, a project which explores the 90s dance influences behind his sound. First single, 'Back 2 Love (House '89)' was accompanied by exclusive guest mixes for BBC Introducing and Clubbing TV and made "tip of the week" on Arkley's local BBC Introducing, along with support from legendary DJ Judge Jules. The EP also includes the summery UK garage track 'All I Got Is Love' and the high-tempo track 'Burnin' (138 Energy Mix)' which recalls the rugged grooves of early Prodigy. Using a unique sampling style inspired by The KLF and The Avalanches, Arkley's self-produced debut single 'Music (Over & Over)' was supported by multiple plays on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, and was used on primetime BBC News to soundtrack scenes from Leeds Festival. Second single 'Rave '92 (Everybody Dancing)' was made "tip of the week" on Arkley's local BBC Introducing and supported by tastemaker DJs such as Judge Jules. Arkley has been featured in DMC World, Mundane Magazine and EDM Lab, and he has produced guest mixes for Housesessions, Harmor On Mix and Trackwolves XL.       About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. On this episode it’s my pleasure to showcase a few tracks from the upcoming Hot Digits Year 7 compilation that’s out at the end of May, and that I have somehow managed to become involved in. I’ve got my contribution, as well as tracks from Andy Buchan, The Velvet Stripes, Stephen Richards and Ross Fitz, all of whom are joining me on what is a truly excellent compilation. I’ve also got new heat from Disco Lust, old heat from Change, George Duke and The Meters and other funky bric a brac. In the second hour I bring you a guest mix from Scottish DJ and music obsessive Ewan Mack. Hailing from Aberdeen but now living in Edinburgh, Ewan's love of music started from an early age when he started to listen to soul, funk and disco in the early 80s. In 1993, Ewan discovered house music after listening to a Graeme Park mix on Pete Tong's essential mix. A pair of belt drive turntables and basic mixer were purchased shortly afterwards and Ewan started DJing at house parties and birthday parties while at University. The belt drives were upgraded to 1210s which he still owns and Ewan continued to play at local nights in Aberdeen. He was a finalist in Cream's search for a resident DJ competition in 2002 just before it closed its doors! While a family and a career have taken over, Ewan still likes to collect a broad range of disco and soulful house-music although the tempo has moderated over the years. He makes regular recordings to share with like-minded music fans and started streaming on twitch during lockdown 2020. He references Graeme Park (fellow Aberdeen FC fan), MAW, Dave Lee, Norman Jay, Dimitri from Paris and Frankie Knuckles as major influencers. Ewan got in touch a while back to share some of his mixes, and as soon as I listened to one I had to invite him to record one for the show. Ewan’s mix is an expert selection of nu-disco delights, sometimes verging into soulful house, lots of reworks of classics, really funky, just what I look for in a guest mix. Big thanks to Ewan for a great mix, and if you like what you hear please head to Ewan’s Soundcloud and check out his other mixes. https://soundcloud.com/ewan-mack I’m back in two weeks bringing you a full on soulful mix from top bloke Iry Sabir - see you then! In the meantime, don’t forget that there’s a treasure trove of great shows to explore on Stream101’s Mixcloud - mixcloud.com/stream101 (PS, I made the rookie error of playing one of the tracks that Ewan dropped in my hour - argh! My bad, but that new Disco Lust tune is so good it deserves to be played twice!) HOUR 1 TRACKLIST Dr Packer - So Ruff, So Tuff (Dr Packer Rework) Change - It Burns Me Up Andy Buchan - Baller Ross Fitz - I Miss Your Love ('85 Mix) The Meters - Funkify Your Life RLP - Do You Believe That Love Will Never Do Without You? In this episode, I chat to Scottish DJ & Producer - Mark Sherry. I've known Mark for a number of years and he's one of the most genuine guys in our scene. This is a really personal episode as Mark speaks for the very first time about the impact of losing his best friend to suicide in 2007. We also speak about the detrimental effect that this third lockdown has had on our physical and mental health, and how our creative inspiration has been greatly reduced over the past twelve months. Anger & frustration are the two main emotions discussed in this Podcast. We also chat about the importance of sleep, health and fitness, and taking care of ourselves amongst many other topics. This is one of my favourite shows to date, I think that the themes discussed in this episode will resonate with a lot of people out there. Really hope you enjoy the show, Bryan

Scottish DJ and producer Nick Moore is Linkwood, someone who applies a master craftsmen and hugely artistic approach to everything he does. Because of this, he has a reputation for fantastically deep house that is magically ornamental, resplendent with atmospheric ambiance and littered with moving melody. He releases on local label Firecracker and its sub label Shevnchenko, and most recently offered up the tripled vinyl delights of his second album, Expressions. Now he is taking up the mantel on our podcast series and serves up just over an hour of sumptuous sound. Despite being a relatively short set, the Scot manages to cram a lot in, from dub techno to intergalactic deep house via spaced out jams and intricately melodic tech. Importantly, every record he reaches for bares all the hallmarks of that emotive Linkwood sound we all know and love, so stick it on and allow yourself to get lost at the hands of a real master.

Audio Perversion is the alias of Scottish DJ & Producer Tommy Fraser. Known for his unmistakeable and addicting brand of Techno, Tommy has been a key figure in the Aberdeen & Scottish underground music scene for more years than most. Alongside crafting and evolving his sound as a performer, Tommy has been working with fellow Aberdeen producer Jamie ‘Kaeva’ Robertson, to hold some of the most infamous parties in the country as Co-Founder and Director of TLF Events. Tommy began spinning vinyl in the mid-nineties, embracing many forms of underground music and perfecting his own take on mixing. Since the early 2000’s he has played and held residencies at almost every notable underground club in his city, slowly becoming one of the most experienced and respected party starters going. In recent years, drawing on the influences of legends Dave Clarke, Edit Select, Mark Broom, Billy Nasty, Jeff Mills, and James Ruskin – Tommy has embraced Techno and settled into the genre he identifies with the most, creating the Audio Perversion project. Under the Audio Perversion moniker and with his residency at TLF, Tommy has supported & played alongside the likes of Billy Nasty, Gary Beck, Dustin Zahn, Edit Select, Tommy Four Seven, Hans Bouffmyhre, Mark Broom, Matador, and for TLF White with Tech House giants Pleasurekraft, Bontan, and Stefano Noferini. 2013 saw the first Audio Perversion release on Cubek Records with his track ‘Crypric’.
