Episode 172 Chapter 31, ARP Analog Synthesizers. Works Recommended from my book, Electronic and Experimental Music  Welcome to the Archive of Electronic Music. This is Thom Holmes. This podcast is produced as a companion to my book, Electronic and Experimental Music, published by Routledge. Each of these episodes corresponds to a chapter in the text and an associated list of recommended works, also called Listen in the text. They provide listening examples of vintage electronic works featured in the text. The works themselves can be enjoyed without the book and I hope that they stand as a chronological survey of important works in the history of electronic music. Be sure to tune-in to other episodes of the podcast where we explore a wide range of electronic music in many styles and genres, all drawn from my archive of vintage recordings. There is a complete playlist for this episode on the website for the podcast. The Other Side Of The Bell - A Trumpet Podcast

This episode of The Other Side of the Bell, featuring trumpeter, band leader and iconic plunger mute designer Kenny Rampton, is brought to you by Bob Reeves Brass. This episode also appears as a video episode on our YouTube channel, you can find it here: "Kenny Rampton trumpet interview"   About Kenny Rampton:   Trumpeter Kenny Rampton grew up in Las Vegas, and studied music at both the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and the Berklee College of Music. In 1989, he moved to New York, where he quickly established his reputation as a versatile musician, touring and performing with a veritable who's who in jazz.   Kenny's first road gig was a world tour with The Ray Charles Orchestra. He subsequently went on the road with legendary jazz drummer Panama Francis and The Savoy Sultans, and soon thereafter, with The Jimmy McGriff Quartet.   As a sideman, Kenny has also performed with jazz greats Jon Hendricks, Chico OFarrill's Afro-Cuban Jazz Big Band, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Persip and Supersound, Illinois Jacquet, Dr. John, Edy Martinez, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Reuben Wilson, Charles Earland, Tony Monaco, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton, Marcus Roberts, Christian McBride, Geoff Keezer, Richard Bona and a host of others.    Kenny Rampton joined the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis as a full time member in 2010. He also leads his own groups in addition to performing with the Mingus Big Band, The Mingus Orchestra, The Mingus Dynasty, George Gruntz' Concert Jazz Band, and The Manhattan Jazz Orchestra.   Kenny is also well known as being the trumpet voice on the legendary Sesame Street. Some of his Broadway credits include "Anything Goes" (lead/solo trumpet), "Finian's Rainbow," "The Wiz," "Chicago: The Musical," "In The Heights," "Hair," "Young Frankenstein," and "The Producers," "The Drowsy Chaperone," "Spamalot," "Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me," "The Wedding Singer," "Hot Feet" and several other shows on Broadway.   Finally, in 2020 Kenny started collaborating with Hirschman Mutes to design the innovative KR Indigo plunger mute, which has been a hit ever since its release.   In our conversation today, Kenny shares how he got his start growing up in Las Vegas in a family of entertainers. Studying trumpet at the time largely meant classical trumpet, but Kenny soon developed a deep love for jazz. This took him across the country to Berklee, and the rest is history.   Kenny tells us what it was like getting a sudden call from Ray Charles to join his orchestra, being on-screen on Sesame Street, and working closely with Wynton Marsalis at the Lincoln Center.   And, we learn the story of how he developed the famous KR Indigo plunger mute, in the midst of the pandemic, as not just a useful tool for musicians but a way to stay engaged with the community during that tough time.   Kenny Rampton is brimming with inspiration and heart, and it was a pleasure to have him on the podcast today.   Podcast listeners! September is Hispanic Heritage Month and throughout the month, Echoes of Indiana Avenue will spotlight the contributions Avenue musicians have made to Latin Music. On this week's show we'll share music from vibraphonist Billy Wooten and trumpeter Virgil Jones. Billy Wooten is best known for his work with the famed jazz guitarist Grant Green. From the 1960s, to his death in 2016, Wooten was a popular attraction in the Indianapolis music scene. Latin music was a big part of Wooten's sound – he even recorded an entire album of Latin music at the Madame Walker Theatre. Virgil Jones grew up on Indiana Avenue in the Lockefield Gardens apartments. Jones became one of the most prolific jazz trumpets of the 1960s, recording with a long list of jazz stars - including Lionel Hampton, Charles Earland, McCoy Tyner, and others. Jones played on significant Latin jazz recordings with Roland Kirk, Pharaoh Sanders, and Eddie Palmieri.

Tony Monaco began his keyboard life at age eight, on the accordion. When he was twelve, his destiny as a jazz organist was sealed when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student, Tony began working in Jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus, Ohio, guided by local organ gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. For further inspiration, he studiously absorbed the mastery of Jimmy McGriff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Charles Earland, Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. All would play a role in the development of his musical palette. On Tony's sixteenth birthday, his prayers were answered. He received an encouraging phone call from Jimmy Smith, who soon became his Mentor/Teacher. Four years later, Jimmy Smith invited Tony to play at his club in California--a peak lifetime experience for Tony. From 1980 to 2006, Tony stood by his family businesses and married to have three daughters, while running Monaco's Palace Italian restaurant for ten years while performing weekly in the lounge. Tony then entered the food brokerage industry peaking towards Torchbearer status with SYSCO Foods. Always inspired by music, Tony then went to work as an assistant Broadcast producer for a prominent ad agency learning his production skills and playing gigs at night to continue supporting his family. After graduating from college with a B.S.B.A. from Franklin University in 1989, Tony's occupation changed again to supervisor of Monaco Concrete (“my Father needed a good manager and my daughters were getting close to going to college!”). Tony now enjoys and concentrates on all his musical energies flourishing ultimately as he pursues his passions. In April 2000, Tony met fellow jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco, who offered to produce a debut CD for him. This collaboration resulted in the critically acclaimed "Burnin Grooves”. The international success of the recording served as the catalyst for regional and national tours. This success was followed by two more releases for Summit Records that received critical acclaim and significant sales, charting in the Jazzweek Top 10. In September 2003, Summit Records released "A New Generation”, a unique recording featuring both Tony's and Joey DeFrancesco's Trios. They recorded the project using two "Hammond-Suzuki New B3's" as Tony was awarded a major endorsement role with Hammond and Suzuki. As Tony's reputation has grown, he has been blessed to play with some of the greatest musicians in jazz, including Mel Lewis, Lewis Nash, Red Holloway, Plas Johnson, Sonny Fortune, Jon Faddis, Adam Nussbaum, Bruce Forman, Harvey Mason, Chester Thompson (drummer) Herlin Riley, Matt Wilson, Jeff Clayton, Terrell Stafford, Eric Alexander, Late Bobby Durham, Russell Malone, Peter Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, Bruce Forman, Kevin Mahogany, Victor Lewis, Pat Martino, Fareed Haque, and even George Benson. An ardent student of the organ, it's no surprise that Tony is an accomplished teacher as well. In addition to private students, classes and clinics, Tony has produced a series of instructional DVDs titled "Playing Jazz Hammond" that have quickly become indispensable for any serious student of the organ. Tony teaches Lessons online with a system he created giving lessons one on one online to anyone from anywhere around the globe! Presently, Tony maintains a busy schedule touring, including festival appearances, clinics, and workshops In 2007 he appeared on the cover of Keyboard Magazine. In April 2012, Tony released "Celebration Life * Love * Music, a two-disc set of all originals as he continues to Celebrate his Musical gifts and shares his skills with everyone. Tony's drive as an innovator and missionary continues to carry forward his passion for the Hammond Organ. Now Executive Producer of the Summit Records subsidiary Chicken Coup Records, he has recorded and released CDs for several undiscovered organists around the globe, and his role as an educator has allowed him to spread and cultivate many new hopefuls to the art of the jazz organ. In 2014 Tony released Furry Slippers with fellow guitarist Fareed Haque and Drummer Greg Fundis! Topping the Jazz and College charts and gaining several reviews! Tony continues his mission to raise awareness and appreciation of the jazz organ and its importance in genres as diverse as traditional Gospel, RnB, and Modern Jazz. He is formulating new strategies and record deals using his network through Chicken Coup Records to help himself and his peers and students advance in this ever-changing music market and utilize new technologies and markets. Tony is a vital source of musical experience, knowledge, and humility ready, willing, and able !!! In 2017, Tony celebrated a special anniversary, celebrating 50 years as a musician! In January 2019, Tony released his 11th Internation release "The Definition of Insanity" on his Chicken Coup Records label. He will be recording his second venture with Drummer great Steve Smith and Guitarist Vinny Valentino as Groove Blue Trio Tours Russia and Europe! When this host looks at the mass of interviews that he has done and continues to do he realizes that the full impact of the stories, camaraderie, and spirituality may resonate years after I have left this life. To be discovered or rediscovered is a mystifying and gratifying at the same time. My guest today has had a career full of starts, stops, punching bags, blue notes and love bugs. He grew up in sunny southern California during the cool bop era and came of age with fellow luminaries like George Coleman, Grant Green and Mickey Roker. His albums for blue note represented the soul jazz of it's time. The swirling organ lines, the fender bass and rapid fire melodic solos. Opportunities with Groove Merchant produced more electric groove music that epitomized the moody and jaunty 1970s. Still my guest flew under as other organists like Charles Earland and Groove Holmes took up much of the space. However with the rebirth of soul jazz in the late eighties and early nineties my guests albums became highly coveted for music fanatics and crate diggers alike. All of a sudden my guest became a household name with a generation that wasn't even born when his albums were pressed. His infectious smile and earnest efforts have earned him solid acclaim with the music community and in the record books. I can only hope that the interviews that I am doing have the staying power and sustenance that my guests music has had. Episode 033 Chicago Music Revealed with Mike Jeffers and special guest Bobby Broom talking about his upcoming performance as part of the Jazz Foundation of America Musicians' Emergency Fund Concert 5/14 Featuring: Sheryl Crow, Robert Cray, Milton Nascimento, Anjelique Kidjo, Stanley Jordan, Ivan Neville and many more. Watch Live Tonight at 8pm EST and 10pm EST. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYoeS...   #bobbybroom #jazzfoundationofamerica #chicagomusicrevealed   About Bobby Broom By 16, Broom had a regular gig with bebop pianist Al Haig when the saxophone colossus himself, Sonny Rollins, invited him to go on tour. Broom declined, though he did perform with Rollins at Carnegie Hall later that year. Five years later, including one at Berklee, Broom at last joined Rollins’s touring band, ultimately spending two five-year stints with him. Prior to joining Rollins, Broom declined yet another prestigious gig—a spot in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers—to instead sign with GRP Records and make his crossover jazz debut, 1981’s Clean Sweep. That record and its follow-up, 1984’s Livin’ for the Beat (Arista), attracted a following and promised a career in what would soon be known as smooth jazz. Broom, ever independent-minded, though, instead jumped ship for Chicago, where he concentrated on straight-ahead jazz. He continued with Rollins, joined Kenny Burrell’s Jazz Guitar Band, and worked with Miles Davis, Stanley Turrentine, and his early idol Charles Earland. In the 1990s Broom formed two trios: The eponymous Bobby Broom Trio and the Deep Blue Organ Trio. Deep Blue recorded four albums before its dissolution in 2013. Broom also made three quartet records (No Hype Blues, Waitin’ and Waitin’, and Modern Man) before deciding to focus on his guitar- bass-drums trio as his primary outlet, beginning in 2001 with Stand! (Premonition). He solidified a lineup with bassist Dennis Carroll and drummer Kobie Watkins with 2006’s Song and Dance, which was also Broom’s first recording for Origin. That trio also scored with the vibrant 2008 live date The Way I Play and the 2009 Bobby Broom Plays for Monk, which Allmusic’s Rick Anderson called “a warm and wonderful tribute to one of America’s finest composers.” Makaya McCraven was introduced on drums for Upper West Side Story (2012), Broom’s first collection of all original compositions, and My Shining Hour (2014), his first standards album. The Organi-Sation was born from the ashes of the Deep Blue Organ Trio, which had been a regular touring opener for Steely Dan. Unaware of their 2013 disbanding, the Dan once again called Broom in 2014 to book his “organ group” for their summer tour. Broom was reluctant to throw together another organ combo when he wanted to focus on his working trio, but McCraven wouldn’t hear of it. “He said, ‘Man, you can’t not do this,’” Broom recalls. “He said, ‘Let’s sit down, go through our rolodexes, and figure this out.’” When they reached the name of organist Ben Paterson, Broom thought he might be on to something. As Paterson was about to begin an extended stay in Chicago, he agreed to join the band. McCraven took a leave midway through the tour, with Watkins replacing him. The Organi-Sation quickly jelled as such: “I thought after the Deep Blue Organ Trio that I would never feel anything quite like that chemistry again,” Broom says. “And boy, was I wrong.” If Soul Fingers was the product of that chemistry, it’s also a natural outgrowth of Broom’s personal artistic values. “The interpretation of popular songs doesn’t seem to be the mode du jour for jazz players, but I have to play music and a style that suits me, one that I want to hear,” he says. “This record—these songs, this presentation—is how I want to engage with the world.”

Patrick Gleeson began experimenting with electronic music in the mid-'60s at the San Francisco Tape Music Center using a Buchla synthesizer and other devices. In 1968, upon hearing Wendy Carlos' “Switched-On Bach”, he bought a Moog synthesizer and opened the Different Fur recording studio in San Francisco. He worked with Herbie Hancock in the early 1970s, touring with Hancock – thus pioneering the use of synthesizers outside the studio – and appearing on the albums "Crossings" and "Sextant". Hancock's “Sextant” and “Headhunters” were both recorded in part at Different Fur studios. Gleeson has worked with many other Jazz musicians including Freddie Hubbard, Charles Earland, Eddie Henderson, Joe Henderson, and Lenny White.Gleeson recorded a number of solo albums, starting with “Beyond the Sun” - An Electronic Portrait of Holst's "The Planets" in 1976. The album was nominated for a "Best Engineered Recording: Classical" Grammy in 1976. “Beyond the Sun” was followed in 1977 by a more commercial album, titled “Star Wars”.Pat worked as an engineer on the 1978 Devo album “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!”, part of which was recorded at Different Fur. Gleeson has been involved in the scoring of a number of film soundtracks, including “The Plague Dogs”, “Apocalypse Now”, and “Crossroads and The Bedroom Window”. He has scored nine television series, including “Knots Landing”.

Charles Earland was one of the leading Jazzmasters of the mighty Hammond Organ and he organized and arranged this great set with a full brass section and some superb soloists to augment this date. The soloists aside from Earland himself were tenor saxophonist Billy Harper, flutist Hubert Laws and most importantly the master trumpeter Lee Morgan. Sadly this was Lee Morgan's last date as he was shot and killed two days after this recording by his estranged partner. He was just 33. Morgan shines on this date and it makes his passing that much sadder. The music is superb and very much a cut above the usual Hammond Organ date. The powerhouse rhythm section has of course Earland's pulsating bass lines (he wasn't called "The Mighty Burner" for nothing) coupled with the funky drumming of Billy Cobham and the congas of Sonny Morgan (no relation to Lee). The album is called "Intensity" yet it is very accessible and musical. Check it out tonight! Following the Earland Jazz Feature will be in honor of Canada's 150th Birthday, Oscar Peterson's magnificent "Canadiana Suite" with Oscar, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen. This 8 movement suite will be heard in it's entirety. Tune in!

Don Adams – once described as being “cool as a fan” is a New Jersey transplant who now resides in Nashville Tennessee.  He says he moved to Nashville because of the raw talent and musicianship he discovered while visiting there for a weekend to work on a CD project with a friend.  With the bass as his primary instrument, Don has accompanied an array of artists including: the late Charles Earland, the late Miles Davis, the late Billie Paul, Sarah Dash, Danny and the Juniors, Taylor Dane, Chaka Khan and Chico DeBarge to name a few. In more recent years Don has accompanied artist, including Gary Jenkins (Silk), Marion Meadows, Jakiem Joyner, Jeff Lorber, Joe Wooten, Jessy J, Alex Bugnon and Bobby Rush. In December of 2003 Don founded the Don Adams Band based out of Nashville. The band is still one of the hottest tickets around. Also that year, Don received the Marion James Award as Nashville's Bassist of the Year. Lorenzo Washington, Producer and CEO of Jefferson Street Sound sought to revive the Jefferson Street music scene that had been relegated to history books, museum exhibits and stories told by those reminiscing the rhythm and blues, soul, rock and jazz music that emanated from the Nashville's Jefferson Street scene.Washington turned to Don Adams to write, produce and record the label's first full-length debut under the name the Don Adams Band. The label's first release is a collection of R&B-infused jazz songs by the Don Adams Band modestly titled “Caution: May Cause Passion.” Adams describes the music on “Caution: May Cause Passion” released October 2013, as “borrowing elements from jazz, R&B and soul. We make the music and the listeners/fans decided whether it is good or not.” Music is available through online retailers.

I've always tried to keep my personal and professional life separate, but these days it seems the lines are increasingly blurred. It's no secret that much to my amazement and delight I've become a father again which accounts for my recent sabbatical from the radio. So, whilst I was reconciled to the idea of parenthood returning to the agenda despite my (ahem) advancing years, I never anticipated..... twins!!!! A double blessing for sure, but that's easily said by those who've never actually experienced the reality of dealing with two wee ones simultaneously! It's relentless, they sleep deprivation is a form of torture but mainly I'm just delirious, doolally and drunk on the delights of nappy changing, cooing, comforting and generally easing the passage of my identical twin boys into this world. Funnily enough when we eventually arrived home with the boys there was a record shaped package amongst the piles of bills and junk mail which turned out to be my copy of Malcolm Cecil's "Radiance". I've long been fascinated by Cecil's career, as an obsessive devourer of record sleeve credits I eventually pieced together Cecil puzzle from his work alongside Robert Magaloueff with Stevie Wonder, and their pioneering electronic ambient excursions as Tonto's Expanding Head Band, to his production with Gil Scott-Heron And The Isley Brothers, but his solo album from 1981 had so far eluded me. It's very much in the classic T.O.N.T.O style, The Original New Timbral Orchestra being the vast modular synthesiser on which the album is entirely played, (apart from a contribution from Paul Horn's flute on the second track we include in the show). So "Radiance" ended up being the soundtrack to our first days at home with Quincy and Sebastian.... and you know who the former is named after! Ambient music certainly seems the most appropriate for the frayed and dazed days of new parenthood, gentle and slightly surreal, time dissolved into a continuum of caring and getting through. So maybe instead of my musings about cycling to South London my podcast will become a blog about twin parenthood? Actually I look forward to the day when I can get back to cycling and broadcasting live, and for that matter the days when I can return to my regular work-outs in the pool... of all the things I miss at the moment swimming would have to be top of the list as I tend to think it keeps me sane as much as trim! Anyway it was fairly miraculous to me that I managed to record a show here at Forge Towers, and I wouldn't pretend it's the greatest radio show I've put together, but under the circumstances I'm pleased with the outcome. There's a healthy balance of ancient and modern, with new soulful sounds from Lucas Arruda, Eric Roberson, Dele Sosimi, Kamasi Washington nestling alongside classics from Doug and Jean Carn, Charles Earland, Deodato and others. Of course Doug and Jean's rendering of Wayne Shorter's beautiful "Infant Eyes" was an obvious choice even if it was originally dedicated to a baby girl, it has all the tenderness and wonder of life inside the baby bubble. Of course for all the vagaries of sleepless nights and other sacrifices the joys of witnessing a new life are so much greater, unfathomable, therapeutic and profound. As for the music, well it was definitely therapeutic to get back to my vinyl, and the one advantage of recording the show at home is that affords the opportunity for more spontanaeity. Certainly the last half hour was completely impromptu, other than kicking it off with Nick the Record's rework of a Lincoln Olivetti Brazil boogie nugget, the rest were just pulled out off the cuff. (Which is easy as my twelves are all in the racks behind my decks, whereas the jazz is mainly on the other side of the room!). If I'd been planning a show more meticulously I'd probably thought "better" of playing Level 42's "Starchild" and Deodato's "Whistle Bump", so there you go. I also particularly enjoyed the start of the show with the Malcolm Cecil segué into an often overlooked version of "My Favourite Things" ( thank you Jean Claude Thompson). As I mentioned on the show I've been reassessing my Charles Earland collection as he is undoubtedly my favourite jazz organist, so expect more buried treasure from the king of the Hammond in weeks to come...Generally to my ears nothing screams "Acid Jazz" more than the sound of a funky organ groove, as that was the dominant sound at the birth of that "genre". So it was to my surprise that when I eventually dipped into the the third disc of the Kamasi Washington album to find that "Cherokee" was very much in that kind of rare groove style. However it must be said that the thing that stands out to me about the vocal tunes on The Epic is that they have something of a "show tune" quality, the melodies are almost archaic on "Cherokee" and "The Rhythm Changes", which is no bad thing. Of all the new music I played this week, I have to say that having vinyl copies of the Dele Sosimi and Lucas Arruda albums has increased my appreciation of those works exponentially. Of course I'm a vinyl fan, but beyond any discussion about sound quality, what makes an enormous difference to me is that I'm less likely to listen to a file on my main sound system and even though I run my laptop through a nice pair of speakers (in the kitchen), the whole sonic perspective is very different when playing off vinyl on my "semi-audiophile" set-up with my decks. So the Dele Sosimi album which benefits from being recorded in one of London's best analogue studios sounded much mightier from vinyl. As for Lucas Arruda's "Solar", it's a delightful set which owes much to classic Brazilian crossover fusion and soul, and even though it bears his influence quite obviously even Ed Motta is a fan, as indeed am I; a maturing talent for sure. More musings on fatherhood and music (definitely not) for dad dancing next week. I'm toying with the idea of some specials.... Like shows dedicated to my favourite drummers... Bernard Purdie, Harvey Mason et al, and I think a classic strictly acoustic jazz set is long overdue... Also I'm trying to think of a fitting tribute to my late great colleague Colin Faver who passed away last Saturday after I recorded the show. The man was one of the greatest DJs I've known, so much greater a talent than so many more celebrated names...no doubt he'll be rocking that party on the other side. Until then as one of my favourite comedians, Dave Allen, used to say "may your God go with you" which i think leaves plenty of room for interpretation whether your religious, agnostic or atheist...your God might well be music. 1. Malcolm Cecil - Sun Song 2. Oliver Nelson - My Favourite Things 3. Lucas Arruda - Vento Sul 4. The Foreign Exchange - Milk And Honey 5. Dele Sosimi - E Go Better 6. Kamasi Washington - Cherokee 7. Bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma is in the interview chair this episode. Not to discount the hard work that makes it possible, but for the music lover, Tacuma's career seems like a dream. After a couple years woodshedding on the electric bass as a North Philly teen, his talent is spotted and he is whisked away to the major leagues of jazz, first with organist Charles Earland, who had a sizable hit with the tune “Black Talk” in 1969 and then famously with jazz legend Ornette Coleman in his ground-breaking band, Prime Time. In 1975, at the age of 18, Jamaaladeen packed his bags and relocated for six months to Paris with Ornette's band, playing and recording the classic LP DANCING IN YOUR HEAD. From there Jamaaladeen's world expanded, playing international stages, releasing his own records and playing with Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, The Roots, Nona Hendryx, Kip Hanrahan, The Golden Palominos, and James Blood Ulmer on numerous and far-reaching sessions. Jamaaladeen's playing exhibits a good-humored excitement that flows from the man himself as we meet for the first time on mic. He talks about the Philadelphia he grew up in, his insights into Ornette, his appearance on Saturday Night Live, his interest in fashion and design, his exclusive clothing boutique and his new acquisition, the acoustic bass.

Back to the old school and done the old school way (All vinyl, two turntables and a mixer). This mix showcases a different aspect of the sounds I like - soul and a bit of disco funk. It's more about the journey and selection here; not claiming to break the ultra rare and elusive, although you certainly won't find a couple of these easily and/or without paying good money for it. :) The mix is roughly the set I played for the Beat Swap Meet in Los Angeles on September 15, 2013; roughly because I recorded this after and not when I played and because I can't be certain that the tracks in this particular set are identical to the Beat Swap Meet set. The track listing is as follows: 1. Atmosfear "Xtra Special" (Dry mix) [Elite Records Ltd., 1982] 2. The Cool Notes "Spend the Night" [Abstract Records, 1985] 3. Patrice Rushen "Feels So Real (Won't Let Go)" [Elektra, 1984] 4. Gladys Knight & the Pips "Save the Overtime (For Me)" [Columbia, 1983] 5. Whodini "Five Minutes of Funk" [Jive, 1984] 6. I Level "Give Me" [Epic/Virgin, 1982] 7. Gwen Guthrie "Should've Been You" [Island Records, 1982] 8. Project Future "Ray-Gun-Omics" [Capitol Records, 1983] 9. Love Unlimited Orchestra (presents Charles Webster) "Welcome Aboard" [Unlimited Gold Records, 1981] 10. Charles Earland "Intergalactic Love Song" [Mercury, 1976] 11. Bloodfire VIII "Bloodfire vs. Creative Source" [Bloodfire, 2011] 12. GQ "Someday" [Arista, 1980] Enjoy!
