WORD EXPLOSION 2024| DAY 12| SHOW CHRIST TO THE WORLD| with CHIMDI & FUNKE OHAHUNA. John 1: 8 (ABU) This is the last in the series for 2024 studying the Gospel of John. Discover profound significance of being a witness for Christ. The word 'testify' carries the weight of 'showing' or 'exhibiting.' It is not merely a duty but a cherished privilege bestowed upon every believer. God has ordained that His children should be conduits through which He is made known to the world. From the moment of our salvation, we are entrusted with the divine mission aimed to cause Christ to be seen. The world looks on us not because of our own merits but because of the indwelling presence of Jesus within us. We must be humble and recognize that we are mere donkeys, carrying the precious burden of Christ's glory. Neglecting to show forth Christ through our lives is tantamount to practicing idolatry, as we elevate ourselves above the One we should be glorifying. To be effective witnesses, we must diligently study the Scriptures. Through the Word, we learn the truths about God and His plan for us. By imbibing the Word of God, we become vessels filled with the knowledge and grace that enable us to radiate Christ's presence to those around us. This podcast series on the Book of John, explores the vital role of witnessing in our Christian lives. Listen to gain insights and inspiration that will empower you to fulfill your God-given mandate as a witness for Christ. Dr. Ross Pacini is a cardiologist practicing in and around Lincoln, Nebraska. We talked about the intersection of knowledge and humility, and the importance of both for an excellent doctor. Dr. Pacini shared how he demonstrates his faith into interactions with both patients and coworkers - like several others in this series, needing to SHOW Christ much more often than he is able to SHARE Christ. A @Christadelphians Video: Description: God has promised that Jesus Christ will return as he went away, in a physical, visible manner, as in Acts 1:10-11. God promised that in the latter days He would bring Israel from among the nations where they were scattered and would plant them in their own land. He also says that He will draw Gog down into Israel to battle. Military spending is growing all the time which is a prerequisite to the battle of the great day of God Almighty. One of the greatest honours and aspirations for any athlete is to compete for their country on an international stage like the Olympic Games. They dream of wearing the flag and hearing their national anthem played as they stand on the podium. And many athletes make their country proud in those moments, competing and carrying themselves in an admirable and applaudable manner. But some bring shame to the nation they represent by cheating, lying, mistreating teammates and opponents, and even breaking the law. When this happens, the athlete is still a citizen of their county but they've failed to represent the values of their country. They've squandered the opportunity to showcase to the world the best that their nation has to offer. Christians are on Team Jesus. We wave a common flag and represent a heavenly nation. Our job is to represent well, not bringing shame but showcasing to the world the best our Lord has to offer. And according to 1 John 3, that means we love one another like Christ.

According to the Bible, there's nothing more eminent than the glory of God. But that term is so remote to us now. Most Christians have heard of doing things for the glory of God, but what does that mean? Do you want to have meaning in life? Do you have some need for deep personal change? Are you concerned about justice in the world? The key to all those things is the glory of God. We see in John 12 that to live for the glory of God is to 1) treat God as supremely important, and 2) see God's beauty. And then we see 3) how to do it. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on September 18, 2016. Series: Jesus, Mission, and Glory: New Purpose. Scripture: John 12:27-36. The vision of River of Life Church has always been to reach the lost. Every week, we strive to teach christians the following -1.) To Know ChristRiver of Life exists to lead people into a life-changing encounter with Jesus."I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." - Philippians 3:10-11 NIV2.) To Grow in ChristRiver of Life desires to provide resources for all who come to faith in Christ to help them grow in their relationship with him!3.) Show Christ to Others and the WorldRiver of Life encourages every believer to find an area where they can serve others in the church, locally, and around the world."After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." - Luke 10:1-2 NIVThe harvest is plentiful, and we as christians are called to win souls."I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people," -Ephesians 1:16-18 NIVOur prayer for YOU is that you would find freedom in Christ. We pray that you would grow in your relationship with Christ and the purpose He gives you. Finally, we pray that you would show Christ by the way you live your life. Our desire is that you would see HOW important it is to know God and know him even better.
We build authentic community with other disciples and concentrate ourselves to God

Matthew 12:35 - A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. --- Christianity has gotten a bit... hostile lately. But for what? What good does it do us to rebuke someone with differing beliefs, especially when those beliefs are secondary to the gospel? Does it matter if we don't believe in a literal lake of fire or thing old earth theory is more accurate? All of these things are secondary to loving God and loving others. This week we are continuing our talks about finding God in the stillness, but this time we are talking less about how to find God and more of how to show Him. Most of the time our conversations online (or elsewise) are geared towards exalting our own superiority complex and clout chasing instead of loving one another and exuberating Christ. So here's to hoping that this episode puts a bit of conviction on each one of us to examine our words closely before we spew them out. To analyze what is and is not Christ. To show and emit the love of Christ above the desire to fill our egos. But also remember, conviction and condemnation are not the same. Ephesians 5:15-21
Reflecting on Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Redemptor Hominis, Colin reminds us that Christ the redeemer is the center of the entire universe and all of human history. But is he the center of your own personal universe and your own personal history? As Catholics, we need to re-situate Jesus Christ as the center of our reality. Everything we do, say and believe should orbit around him. The devil is looking to sidetrack us and lead us to focus on anything other than Christ the redeemer. For Catholics, it might be Church politics, our families, our work— even a specific spiritual practice— but if we place any of these at our center, we need to re-calibrate our lives and put Christ back in his rightful place. Only when our lives are reordered around him will we be fully redeemed. _ Snippet from the Show:_ Christ the Redeemer is the center of the entire universe and of human history, but is he the center of your universe?

Public speaking to teens: a favorite pastime of … no one. But somebody has to do it, and with some prayer and preparation, your talk can be a great opportunity to change hearts and minds—just look at the fruits that come from Steubenville Conferences. Dave “Father of Wildlings” VanVickle and I go over how to prepare a talk for high school students that will bring the house down. We want to hear from you! Email us at eksb@ascensionpress.com with your story, question, or comment—or if you’ve got a new nickname for Dave. Snippet from the Show “Christ is the one who destroys the walls of hostility that we keep building up. Every new barrier we put up, Christ is the one who tears them down. God is pursuing us.” SHOWNOTES How to prepare a talk for high schoolers * Select a piece of Scripture: The Word of God is the only thing that gives real clarity in the world. * Be yourself: teens appreciate authenticity * Speak to their experience. 5 Practical Tips 1. Find three narratives where Jesus pursues (or talks about) going after someone outside and brings them in. Write down your thoughts and observations. 2. Take a half page and try to write a tract that you think would be compelling to bring someone to the Lord. 3. Ask someone in your life to pray for you and your call to evangelize. 4. Reach out to someone in your life and compliment them on some part of their life. 5. Pray for the RCIA team and the adults to be baptized in your parish. Holy Week is upon us and we find ourselves faced with the mystery of redemption, symbolized by the crucifix we put on our walls. At this time of year, I always think about a man I knew who would take his crucifix off the wall, and place it right in front of him as we worked. The physical reminder of putting Christ at the center of our lives is powerful. This week, try to meditate on the crucifix. Take it off the wall, and think about a particular station of the cross that speaks to you. Snippet from the Show “Christ died for our sins. The crucifix needs to come off the wall and be placed squarely before our eyes.”
First sermon in a 3-week series called SENT. The church is a group of people called to BE Christ and SHOW Christ to the world.
What does it mean to be in the world but not of the world and how does this affect evangelization? Many people assume there are two ways to approach this notion. On one side is the thought of Christ against culture—that to be loyal to Jesus or the Church I need to run completely away from the world. On the other side is the Christ of culture—that Jesus is the peak and pinnacle of all culture’s greatest desires, aspirations, and hopes. Which one is right? What balance should we strike? Today, Mike and Dave take these two basic concepts and break them down into practical, real life situations. They explain what we should do in regards to the world around us and stress the importance of finding the distinctive Christ element that sets your life apart. We walk a delicate line being in the world and not of it, but Mike and Dave make this line a bit easier to see. Snippet from the Show: “We as Christians have to present some difference from the culture at large, the culture of the world. There has to be something different about our life.” 5 Practical Tips: 1) Spiritual Practice: Do an examination of conscience of a secularist mindset. What parts of your life have you brought in from the culture that you really should not have? 2) Read: Jeremiah 29 (the whole chapter). 3) Go Fishing: Do small pious acts in public. 4) Community: Become a regular at one restaurant. 5) Intercessory Prayer: Pray for the conversion of your favorite secular artist. Join the prayer challenge: www.teach4theheart.com/prayerchallenge. __________________________________________________________ 10 Ways to Show Christ to Our Students If you're a Christian teacher, it shouldn't matter where you teach. Our goal should be the same - to show Christ to our students. Some of us can be more open and apparent, but all of us can and should be intentional about showing Christ and His love in every way we can. When I think about sharing Christ, the first thing that pops into my head is talking about Him. And while we should certainly take advantage of every opportunity we get to talk about God & His truths, just talking about Him isn't enough. Our students need to see Christ in us. We need to showthem who He is. And that's something every one of us can do - no matter where we teach. I wish I could say I'm always a perfect model, but I'm not. None of us are. But with God's help we can continue to grow closer - in our personal walk, in our testimony, and in our portrayal of Him. Let's look at a few ways, in particular, that we can model Christ in our classrooms. How to Model Christ in Our Classrooms Love our students. God is love, and if we want to show Him to our students, we must also love them - all of them. Even the one that's driving us crazy. And it's not enough to just say we love them. We need to show them that we love them. We discuss how in my post "How to Show Real Love to the Kids (Even When They're Not Acting Lovable)." Be kind and understanding. When we're mean or grumpy, we turn students off and are a poor model of the Savior we serve. We must be kind and understanding of our students' struggles. This doesn't mean that we are a pushover. But we can be kind and firm at the same time. And, in fact, we must be. Care more about our students than our policies. Too often we get so entrenched in our policies that we miss the point - that we're here to help our students grow. Sometimes a student needs some mercy. Sometimes we shouldn't be fair. Sometimes what's best for a student doesn't line up perfectly with our plan. In these cases, we must pray for wisdom and remember that the growth and maturity of our students is our main goal. Have high expectations and hold students to them. Caring more about our students than our policies in no case means we should start letting everything go. On the contrary, we must have high expectations. And we must hold students to them. If we're pushovers or wishy-washy, we are a poor example of Christ's authority and leadership. Value integrity. Our society today has little value for integrity, yet we all respect it when we see it. Model integrity in your own life and expect it of your students. Teach them what it looks like, and put forth the effort to help them develop it. Counsel students; don't just hand out punishments. I know that in a busy day, it's much easier to just hand out a detention and be done with it. But if this is all we ever do, we're not going to make much of an impact on our students. We need to take the time to counsel them - whether it's about their behavior in our class or an interpersonal dispute or a tough situation they're facing. Be approachable and show them that you're there to help them grow. (Check out the post "How to Counsel a Student" for more insight.) Let His truths permeate your conversations and lessons. God's truths should be such a part of us that we can't help but speak them in our daily conversations and in our lessons. And lest those of you in public schools think this doesn't apply to you, realize that God's truths are universal. Our students need to hear them, even if they can't be told straight out that they come from the Bible. Check out this post here for details about what is legally allowed in public schools. Model Christlike living. Our lives should portray Christ, and our conduct should be an example. The Spirit should be evidencing His fruit - love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control. And our lives should be marked by integrity and purity. We would never want our sin to be a stumbling block for our students. Be humble. Servant leadership is a powerful example of Christ and will draw students to Him. When we can set aside our pride, admit our mistakes, and not be easily offended, our students will see a very real difference. Be real. Above all else, we have to be real. Genuine. Ourselves. Students can sense hypocrisy a mile away, and it will turn them off faster than anything. We are not perfect. And we don't always have it all together. When we're authentic about our own struggles, we show them that our faith is real and model how God can work in us to change us and mold us into His image. Take our 21-day prayer challenge! Unleash the power of prayer on your students and school. Simply commit to pray for them for 21 days & see what God will do. Join the Challenge.
