In this episode of Molecule to Market, you'll go inside the outsourcing space of the global drug development sector with Victor Diaz, Co-Founder of Solitek. Your host, Raman Sehgal, discusses the pharmaceutical and biotechnology supply chain with Victor, covering: Falling in love with medicinal chemistry and ending up experiencing the culture shock of North East England! Why Victor fell in love with working on a variety of projects at CROs/CDMOs The benefits of solid state chemistry and its value in pre-clinical formulation development The starting story of Solitek and the decision not to take the easier path to becoming consultants His views on the market outlook and how the application of AI will impact the development pathway Victor obtained his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Seville in 1998 before moving to the UK, where he built most of his professional career. Originally trained as a synthetic and medicinal chemist, he began his career at High Force Research and Medivir. He later transitioned from drug discovery to early development, marking the start of his journey in solid-state science at Pharmorphix. There, he progressed to Projects Director and later Site Manager, playing a key role in the company's acquisition by Johnson Matthey from Sigma-Aldrich. Victor then spent five years as Head of Physical Sciences at Almac, leading one of the largest solid-state teams in Europe and providing pharmaceutical companies with expert support in crystallisation, polymorphism, and material characterisation. After more than 20 years in the UK, Victor returned to Spain to co-found Solitek, continuing his mission to deliver solid-state and preclinical development services to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. He currently serves as Operations Director, driving the company's growth and innovation in the field. Please subscribe, tell your industry colleagues and join us in celebrating and promoting the value and importance of the global life science outsourcing space. We'd also appreciate a positive rating! Deborah Eicher is the International Sales and Marketing Director for RES Rides, a Swiss-based rides manufacturer known for creating unique experiences.  Deborah began her career in the fashion industry after getting a business degree from the University of Iowa and later moved into banking and finance.  When Deborah moved to Orlando to be closer to family, she was hired as Operations Manager for Flight Avionics (now Pulseworks), where she operated flight simulators on aircraft carriers and museums.  During that time, Deborah was quickly promoted to Vice President and then President and COO, and grew the operation from one location to twenty.  Ten years later, she was offered the opportunity to join the photo retail provider Picsolve (now owned by Pomvom) as President and COO, where she achieved stellar results, specifically for photo sales at Merlin's midway locations.  In 2014, Deborah moved to the UK and focused on RFP development for manufacturers and suppliers, where she connected with RES Rides which led to her role today.  In this interview, Deborah discussed building unique rides, mentoring young talent, and future-proofing. Building unique rides "Globally, everybody is looking for a new experience." RES Rides was formed in 2015 by Willy Walser and Roman Rothe.  The founders had extensive experience installing rides around the world and determined that an opportunity existed to introduce new ride types to the marketplace.  This led to the development of rides like Rollerball which takes up a small footprint with a vertical lift hill, and Canyon Slide Rapids with the highest drop on a raft ride in the Western Hemisphere. Most recently, RES Rides won a Brass Ring Award in 2023 for Crazy Professor, a vertical dark ride, at Conny-Land in Switzerland.  The attraction features a multimedia experience that includes immersive theming and a pre-show that explains the backstory.  Upon boarding the tower in a 10-seat gondola, the story unfolds through sensory elements including back jabbers, fog, and tilting seats, and by the time they get to the top of the tower, the experiment goes wrong and riders drop into a 20-meter freefall. Mentoring young talent "If you ask someone to be a mentor, it's very complimentary for that person." Deborah stresses the importance of finding mentors to help guide you throughout your career.  For more than 10 years, Deborah sat on the board of the IAAPA Foundation, where they launched a scholarship program to help young professionals gain an education that will grow their careers in the industry. Additionally, this interview is personal to Josh, because in 2011, Deborah hired Josh as Site Manager for Picsolve's operation at LEGOLAND Florida.  Deborah shares stories that she recalls from Josh's time as a young leader, and Josh shares lessons he recalls from his time working with her. Future-proofing "Hire people that are better than yourself." When Deborah worked in fashion retail, she was required to set up an operation and then expected to leave it in a short period of time to move on to the next.  This required her to replicate herself in order to future-proof the operation.  This way, when she left, whether it was within the company or moving on to something else, she left it better than when she started. Future-proofing involves delegation, understanding the metrics, and creating systems that will allow the operation to thrive.  It requires setting best practices and continually fine-tuning them for success, and relying on the process, rather than an individual in particular, so that leaders can duplicate the success.   To learn more about RES Rides, visit their website or their YouTube channel.  More incredible and unique concepts are coming in the pipeline, so be sure to stay tuned!   This podcast wouldn't be possible without the incredible work of our faaaaaantastic team: Scheduling and correspondence by Kristen Karaliunas Video and audio editing by Abby Giganan   To connect with AttractionPros: AttractionPros.com AttractionPros@gmail.com AttractionPros on Facebook AttractionPros on LinkedIn AttractionPros on Instagram AttractionPros on Twitter (X)

This episode is a potent mix of resilience, empowerment, and transforming adversity into opportunity. Truly, a must-listen!   I, Gemma Serenity Gorokhoff, am honored to share an incredible journey I was privileged to hear of recently. I sat down with Martha  Schoenewe, a lady with a powerful spirit, who shared her experiences of enduring multiple forms of abuse. Martha grew up in the shadows of narcissistic abuse, survived an abusive marriage, and even faced physical assault in the military. This episode is a testament to her resilience as she discovered the power of deep inner healing and the support of a compassionate community to break free from the chains of abuse. Our conversation takes a crucial turn towards military sexual trauma, a deeply affecting issue that impacts countless women in service. Our guest, a former military member, musters the courage to discuss her personal encounter with sexual abuse and its lingering effects on her mental health. Amidst the shadows of her past, she found a beacon of hope when she started doing what she hated the most: running, until she would come around to love it. As she is a Plus Size, she wanted to find athletic apparels that would fit her and be the same design as her running team. She waited for a few years to see if anybody would fill that void in the athletic gear industry, and as nothing showed up, she decided to launch her business, Tangent Tee's, a platform that unites individuals from all walks of life through inclusive athletic apparel including plus sizes. Martha is a beacon of hope who has transformed her traumatic experiences into a driving force for success, connecting communities and inspiring many people along the way.   Martha's short bio   Martha is a US Navy veteran, mental health advocate, business owner, and nonprofit leader. With a Masters in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management, as well as earning her PMP certification, she is dedicated to helping our communities access essentials and connecting people.  She works for the San Antonio office of Paws for Purple Hearts as their Site Manager, where professional service dog trainers help provide canine-assisted therapy to veterans with PTSD and other injuries, as well as train service dogs for disabled veterans.    Martha launched Tangent Tees, where she creates quality athletic shirts for plus size people (and smaller), with a mission of connecting people and communities.    Connect with Martha For Paws for Purple Hearts: MarthaS@pawsforpurplehearts.org For Tangent Tees: Hello@TangentTees.com

In today's episode of "Wake Up with Patti Katter," we're sitting down with a good buddy of mine, Candace Cieslo. Our friendship traces back to a chance meeting in Guatemala in 2008, and since then, we've both seen and experienced so much. Candace, a true patriot, took up the call to serve in the U.S. Army, standing tall in some of the most demanding units out there. She's seen the heat of battle, but her journey didn't stop when she hung up her boots. After witnessing the heartbreaking events in Afghanistan, she rolled up her sleeves to help out Afghans in desperate need over in the UAE. It's raw, it's real, and it's a conversation between two friends about service, sacrifice, and what it truly means to step up when the going gets tough. Join us as we dive deep into her story, the good, the challenging, and the downright inspiring. Candace continues to serve communities both on the local and international levels through mission trips and service projects. Most recently, Candace was The Black Feather Foundation's Site Manager for the Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. – serving approximately 18,000 Afghans. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakeupwithpattikatter/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakeupwithpattikatter/support

The James K. Polk Historic Site is a fascinating historical attraction located in Pineville, North Carolina. It commemorates the life and legacy of James K. Polk, the 11th President of the United States. The site includes a visitor center, a museum, and historic buildings associated with the Polk family. Scott Warren, Site Manager, joins the program to share the early years of President Polk's life in the Carolinas.  Many people do not know how influential this president was as a one-term president.  Lost between Presidents Jackson & Lincoln, Polk had a storied career as Governor of Tennessee & U.S. Speaker of the House. James K. Polk served as President from 1845 to 1849, and his presidency was marked by significant accomplishments, including the annexation of Texas, the settlement of the Oregon boundary dispute, and the acquisition of California and other western territories through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo that ended the Mexican-American War. At the James K. Polk Historic Site, visitors can explore the reconstructed log cabin birthplace of James K. Polk. The cabin accurately depicts the living conditions of the era and provides insight into the early life of the future President. Inside the cabin, visitors can view exhibits and displays showcasing artifacts and historical information related to Polk's upbringing and family life. Adjacent to the birthplace cabin, you'll find the Polk family's log kitchen, which was also reconstructed on the site. The kitchen gives visitors a glimpse into the daily life and domestic activities of the Polk family during the early 19th century. The visitor center at the James K. Polk Historic Site features exhibits that delve into Polk's political career and presidency. Through interactive displays, multimedia presentations, and informative panels, visitors can learn about the significant events and policies of Polk's time in office. The exhibits highlight the challenges and achievements of his administration and shed light on the political climate of the mid-19th century. The site also offers guided tours led by knowledgeable interpreters who provide historical context and share intriguing stories about James K. Polk and his presidency. Thanks to Scott Warren for joining us on the Carolina Outdoors. This segment of the program was powered by Jesse Brown's  This outdoor store in Charlotte is known for its knowledgeable staff. Jim and Wayne discuss the challenges of managing a 46-person crew in the South Pole, and Wayne shares his experience of walking in the winter darkness of the South Pole. Wayne White is an explorer who has walked thousands of miles and never missed a day outside. He joins us to talk about his incredible experience of becoming the station manager at the South Pole. Despite the hardships and feeling helpless of a global pandemic, Wayne and his crew prevailed and he is alive to talk about his journey. He explains that he had always been attracted to harsh conditions and the great explorers of the past, prompting him to pursue his dream of working overseas. He was lucky enough to land the job at the South Pole and is now honored to be able to talk about it. The conversation is about the speaker's experience of moving from the tropics to Antarctica. He had seen advertisements for the job and jumped at the chance to go. He was aware of the differences between the two places, including the temperature. He had grown up in the Midwest and had worked in Alaska, but never experienced cold like when he first arrived at the South Pole. The conversation also touches on the recent cold snap in the US and how it was a good day in Antarctica. In this conversation, Wayne talks about a picture of them taken by Dr. Jeffrey Chan after a long walk in the cold. They talk about how they were wearing warm clothes and knew how to deal with the cold weather. White also mentions budding photographers down there who practice during the winter and how the biggest challenge was the batteries due to the cold. Otherworldly encounters at Los Luceros include heavy windows mysteriously opening on their own and broken clocks suddenly ticking the time. Haunted though it may be, Rebecca's quick to point out that Los Luceros and its invisible inhabitants are welcoming. “I've never felt like it's malicious or malevolent or anything like that.” Learn more about this fascinating historical site and plan your visit at Los Luceros. Host Jeremy C.
