This episode of #TheNewAbnormal features Jussi Solja, who is 'one of the beasts' at the Finland-based ' Sexy Beast' who are an 'anti-agency for startups and bold brands'. Nicely put! Jussi has many years of global experience in marketing strategy, digital marketing, service and user experience design to branding, content strategy and beyond. Over the years he's founded and managed agencies, launched a Finnish hiphop phenomenon, ran the marketing of the biggest classifieds platform in the Middle-East, worked with multiple startups, and headed a global team responsible for Nokia’s flagship products, winning multiple international awards in the process. So we discuss a range of insights linked to the above, why he thinks there's a rather odd 'in-built animosity between many agencies and their clients' and why that led to the highly unusual and dynamic approach taken by The Sexy Beast. (Which essentially involves 'getting great people in a room for five days' in order to create catalytic brand / product / service / comms concepts.) He also discusses why he believes there's been a fundamental shift in how we do 'brand purpose' in 2020, where we essentially ask ourselves "what's the genuine brand role in this new society"? And when it comes to issues relating to my themes of "hope, community and resilience", you'll learn why the Finnish ethos of 'talkoot' and 'sisu' are so important...
In episode 21 I am talking about branding. Not only for your game studio, but also for your games and in your games, like how is the story telling matching the visuals and therefore how you communicate with your gamer community. Jussi Solja of Superbeast is an exciting talker when it comes to all of this. Also the report of AZS Consulting about South East Asia. Akmal Soliev is taking us through his report. Next to that our weekly items of Chris Reed of Level Up Experience and Joakim Achren of Elite Game Developers. Next week it is about power women in gaming; Kate Edwards does not need any introduction. We discuss all issues around culture, geopolitics, games, world-building! But also Yvette Wohn, she holds a Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies. She specializes in human computer interactions in live streaming, Esports, gaming, and social media. She boasts a Ph.D. in New Media, Social Networks, Games. Want to listen to more episodes of Game Consultant, then visit my site PodcastGameConsultant.com.

Solja Krapu-Kallio löysi miehen Suomesta ja otti uudelleen haltuun suomen kielen. Solja kirjoittaa runoja ja kirjoja, esiintyy, vetää autotalliteatteria ja remontoi taloa. Solja Krapu-Kallio syntyi vuonna 1960 Konginkankaalla Keski-Suomessa.
It's November folks, and that means it's time to celebrate ALL THINGS WOOL! In this episode we update you on events for the rest of the year, reveal details about the Bath Christmas Craft Crawl, make a brief foray into the realm of holiday knitting, and have a chat with Rachel Atkinson of My Life in Knitwear about shepherds, the UK wool industry and being informed consumers. News and Events: 1st - 30th November - Wovember, a celebration of wool spearheaded by Felicity Ford, Tom of Holland and Kate Davies. 5th November - the kickoff of Curious Handmade's Knitvent 2015! YITC listeners can get a 15% discount on the collection by using the code "YITCknitvent15", which is good until 30th November - signups will open on 3rd November. Thank you Helen! 10th/17th November - Anna Maltz, aka Sweaterspotter, is teaching a lace and colourwork class for her popular Solja sweater at Wild & Woolly. 14th November - A Yarn Story's One Year Anniversary Party. 14th November - We will be at the Porpoise Fur booth at Festiwool, at North Hertforshire College in Hitchin. Also exhibiting are a number of vendors from the Pop Up Marketplace (Travelknitter, we're looking for you!), and our Knit Night compatriot Third Vault Yarns. 15th November - Clare Devine, of Yarn and Pointy Sticks, is teaching "2 at a time anything" at Knit with Attitude. 15th/22nd November - Brioche Stitch Basics with Renée Callahan of East London Knit at Loop. 28th November - the Bath Christmas Craft Crawl! Now with all the details on the Event Page. What we're working on: Allison has a bunch of projects on the go: she's finished the first sleeve of Grettir by Jared Flood, and should have the second done this week. She's also been working on her Quaking Aspen Shawl in The Fibre Co Acadia, and has started Hamlet the Cheetah from Edward's Menagerie. Also on the list of WIPs is the hoodie for a small boy in Canada that needs to be finished ASAP. On the spinning front, she's spun up her Alpha, Beta, Gamma Finn from the Lab Goddess Fibre club into singles and is going to ply them soon. Rachel has finished a Lush cardigan for her new niece, and some fingerless mitts from some handspun Suffolk in the "Flamingo" colourway. She is now onto the front of her Angostura vest by Ysolda Teague, in Blacker Yarns Cornish Tin. On the spinning front, she has been spinning like a possessed thing trying to get enough yarn to weave a bunch of scarves for Festiwool, and has spun up 8 oz of Corriedale, 4 oz of BFL and 4 oz of Fibre Club in the past couple of weeks. Woolly Wovember: Rachel Atkinson published a post on her blog recently titled "Fleeced" in which she talked about a side of the UK wool industry of which many wool-using crafters may be unaware. We got a chance to talk to Rachel about her story, and discuss where the project is going and what we, as consumers, can do to help. Many thanks to Rachel for taking the time to speak with us, and we will be following along with her project with great interest! Off the air, you can find us on Ravelry, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Please leave a review for us on iTunes or listen to us on Stitcher Radio, and don't hesitate to share your thoughts and feedback with us. We are always out and about, so come say hi at any of the events we're attending if you get a chance! Everyone is also more then welcome to come join our Wednesday night knit group from 7-9 pm (or longer) upstairs at The Goat on the Rise, Clapham SW11 1EQ. In which Rachel gets perhaps a bit overexcited about sock math, and we pat ourselves on the backs for Spinzilla. News and Events: 18th October - What Knitting Does to Your Brain with Heather Ordover, and The Whirled Cinema in Brixton. Tickets are still available. 23-25th October: Gwlana retreat in West Wales. 29th October - 1st November: Geeky Puffin Knit Palooza, in Edinburgh. 10th/17th November - Anna Maltz, aka Sweaterspotter, is teaching a lace and colourwork class for her popular Solja sweater at Wild & Woolly. 15th November - Clare Devine, of Yarn and Pointy Sticks, is teaching "2 at a time anything" at Knit with Attitude. 15th/22nd November - Brioche Stitch Basics with Renée Callahan at Loop. 28th November - the Bath Christmas Craft Crawl! What we're working on: Rachel weaves in the ends on her Aranami Shawl as we record, and admits that she has picked up a year-old UFO. She also has been trying to quickly finish a baby Lush by Tin Can Knits for her brand spanking new baby niece, who arrived on 8th October. Allison is working on the Modish Cowl by Stephen West, and has finished a Marian Cowl by Jane Richmond in some glorious Malabrigo Rasta. Sadly, the Quaking Aspen shawl is currently in a corner contemplating it's sins while it waits in Time Out. We are both feeling flush with our first ever Spinzilla now behind us - go Team SweetGeorgia! Feeling Bookish: We review two books - first up is the Drift Collection, curated by Eden Cottage Yarns, and featuring their Whitefell DK 100% alpaca yarn. Swoon. Full of cozy accessories and gorgeous, wearable sweaters, this collection is a keeper. Head over to the Eden Cottage Yarns Ravelry group to join the KAL/CAL that starts on the 20th of October. We also review Kate Atherley's new book from Interweave, "Custom Socks: Knit to Fit Your Feet", and Rachel reveals perhaps a bit too much of her geeky, spreadsheet-obsessed side. Chock full of incredibly helpful tips for getting your socks to fit perfectly, we like this one so much that we are going to share the love with you: leave a comment on this post about either your worst sock fitting disaster, or which pattern you'd like to knit from the 14 included in the book, and we will send you your very own copy! Entries close at 11:59 pm on Friday, 30th October, and please be sure you leave contact info so we can get your book to you! And many thanks to Interweave/F+W Communications for providing us with a copy of the book to review and giveaway.
