Ten years ago this week, in the teeth of a downturn, David picked five stocks under the banner “5 Stocks to Feed the Bear.” This week, he and longtime Fool Rick Munarriz revisit that full basket—not after a month, a quarter, or a year, but after a much better, truer timeframe for the Rule Breaker Investor: 10 years. To the very day.Which stocks did David get really right? Which ones really wrong? And why? As always, in this third installment of our new episodic series, it's not about cherry-picking highlights—it's about accountability and perspective. It's about what a 10-year scorecard teaches that the financial media's shorter windows simply can't.And the results of this sampler—along with the full program of all 30 5-stock samplers—once again prove the eye-popping success and durable wins that come to Rule Breaker investors.

In this episode of The Mobilization Mindset, Scott Peper sits down with Meli Figueras, CEO of Coastal Painting & Concrete Restoration, for a candid, real-world conversation about leadership, cash flow, and what it truly takes to operate and scale a construction business.Meli shares her unexpected path into construction, bringing a corporate leadership background into an industry where execution, trust, and cash discipline matter more than titles or resumes. What followed was a fast education in job sites, schedules, retainage, payroll pressure, and the human reality behind every dollar spent before a dollar is ever collected.Together, Scott and Meli unpack the challenges contractors face every day, including:• Why construction cash flow works differently than most businesses and why jobs that look profitable on paper can still strain a company• The responsibility behind payroll and why protecting your team financially must come first• Lessons learned moving from corporate leadership into the field and onto active job sites• How misalignment between accounting and project management quietly creates cash problems• When walking away from a job is the smartest decision a leader can make• Why performance, trust, and consistency matter more than credentials in construction• The mindset shift required to grow responsibly without putting the business or people at riskThis episode offers a grounded look at construction leadership, from balancing relationships with general contractors to staying close to the field and building a culture rooted in accountability, communication, and financial discipline.Meli's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melifigueres/Meli's Website: https://www.coastalpaintingfl.com/Learn more: https://mobilizationfunding.com/Subscribe to the Mobilization Minute newsletter: https://mobilizationfunding.com/newsletter-subscriptions/

This week's Rule Breaker Investing Mailbag brings together beautiful questions and stories to start the new year. We wrestle with a values-alignment dilemma around owning Robinhood, explore what it looks like to turn investing into a real, score-kept game for kids (including outperforming Dad), consider a mischievous strategy for the Market Cap Game Show, and close with an inspiring note from a retired basketball coach whose patient, optimistic approach built lasting financial freedom. This powerful conversation with Chad Meli goes beyond headlines, diving into real-life trafficking cases, rescue operations, and the often-overlooked reality of victim support after recovery. Chad shares firsthand stories that reveal how traffickers exploit technology—and how law enforcement, NGOs, and community partners are using that same technology to fight back.Chad and Murphy explore the critical role of proactive policing, international and local collaboration, and the emotional toll faced by investigators and advocates working these cases. Chad also breaks down why parental awareness and online safety education are now frontline defenses in protecting children from predators. You'll hear how NGOs and law enforcement work together to identify victims, dismantle trafficking networks, and provide long-term care for survivors. The discussion also addresses the mental health challenges faced by those on the front lines—and why community involvement can make a real difference.

Many of our followers turn to us for product recommendations as they remove toxic chemical exposures from their everyday products such as household and personal care products. While household and personal care products can contribute a significant amount of exposure to harmful chemicals such as BPA, phthalates and parabens. These are not the only exposure sources. A recent study from the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) found BPA in sports bras and baby socks. BPA enters clothing during the manufacturing process of polyester, which can help dyes hold and prevent static. The exposure of BPA through skin may actually be worse than ingesting it as the body detox process takes longer. This is why we should choose clothes made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton and wool. Today we invited Meli and Rensso Hinostroza, brother and sister, from AYA Eco Fashion and Arms of Andes to join us to talk about these two fast growing plastic-free fashion brands they created. We are going to discuss their materials, manufacturing process and their bigger visions for a more sustainable planet.Learn more about AYA and Arms of Andes: https://ecoaya.com/ https://armsofandes.com/Get tested for BPA, phthalates, parabens, and other hormone-disrupting chemicals with Million Marker's Test Kit: https://www.millionmarker.com/

As we open 2026, David looks backward to get clearer about what really matters going forward. In the eighth installment of Essays From Yesterday, he revisits four Rule Breaker essays written between 2006 and 2014—spanning market sell-offs, forgotten drawdowns, early buyouts, language that shapes behavior, and the enduring power of mindset. Along the way, we're reminded that sharp declines happen more often than we remember, that short-term scorecards mislead, and that a handful of great winners can overwhelm many mistakes. This lesson-filled episode makes the case for capital “H” History as an investor's secret weapon—and for why perspective, patience, and precise thinking continue year after year to crush the stock market averages. • (5:02) Introduction to July 2006 Issue • (15:55) The Tim Beyers Issue • (27:42) Greatest Issue Ever • (37:26) Starter Stocks Companies mentioned: AKAM, APKT, CRM, GOOG, ISRG, MELI, NILE, PDLI, QLIK Host: David GardnerProducer: Bart Shannon Learn more about your ad choices. We also discuss why Jason's "boring" dividend portfolio outperformed the AI-driven market, and explore the dangers of "investing echo chambers".01:32 Reflecting on 2025: Portfolio Performance04:30 Jeff's Personal Investment Breakdown14:22 Jason's Investment Strategy and Performance23:25 Transitioning Investments to Bonds and Cash24:21 Building a High-Yield Dividend Portfolio26:13 Reflecting on Investment Performance28:41 The Importance of Long-Term Investment Perspective31:13 Analyzing Stock Picking Strategies34:44 Echo Chambers in Stock PickingCompanies mentioned: BEP, BIP, BRK.B, CTRE, GOOGL, KNSL, MELI, NOW, NTB, PSX, PYPL, RKLB, S, SPG, TFSL, TSM, TTDFind where to listen & subscribe, portfolio contests, and contact information at https://investingunscripted.com*****************************************To get 15% off any paid plan at fiscal.ai, visit https://fiscal.ai/unscriptedListen to the Chit Chat Stocks Podcast for discussions on stocks, financial markets, super investors, and more.

Bill Brewster, host of The Business Brew, joins us for a candid conversation about the mental toll of stock picking and his evolution from "cigar butt" value investing to quality compounders. We dive deep into his sharp criticism of Disney CEO Bob Iger, debate whether Berkshire Hathaway is facing a "conglomerate discount" after its recent management shakeup, and discuss why sometimes the best investing strategy is simply admitting you might be the "dumbest person in the room."00:24 Introducing the Guest: Bill Brewster00:50 Bill's Investment Philosophy04:05 Frameworks vs. Rules in Investing06:59 Evolving as an Investor11:01 David Gardner's Influence18:18 Goals vs. Incentives in Investing24:03 Building a Robust Investing Framework24:27 Traits of Quality Enterprises26:18 Economic Moats and Management Insights27:45 Disney's Leadership and Strategic Shifts32:58 Berkshire Hathaway's Future LeadershipCompanies mentioned: BN, BRK.B, CLPT, COST, DIS, FAST, GIS, JPM, MCD, MELI, NFLX, OLN, OXY, PM, SHOP, WBD, WMT*****************************************Check out The Business Brew: https://www.thebusinessbrew.com/*****************************************Join our PatreonSubscribe to our portfolio on Savvy Trader *****************************************Email: investingunscripted@gmail.comTwitter: @InvestingPodCheck out our YouTube channel for more content: ******************************************To get 15% off any paid plan at fiscal.ai, visit https://fiscal.ai/unscripted******************************************Listen to the Chit Chat Stocks Podcast for discussions on stocks, financial markets, super investors, and more. It's time to grade our 2025 predictions (spoiler: we were mostly wrong) and make some reckless new calls for 2026. We debate whether Oracle or Alphabet will be the next mega-cap winner, if Tesla's full self-driving ambitions will crash the stock, and why Strategy might be the single most dangerous stock to own next year. Plus, we ask the big question: Will the market finally crash in 2026, or is the AI bubble just getting started?00:16 Reckless Predictions and Accountability00:34 Catching Up After the Holidays01:42 Reviewing Last Year's Predictions06:03 Stock Picks for 202511:10 Stocks to Avoid in 202520:46 Reflecting on Housing Market Predictions24:30 S&P 500 Prediction Review25:16 New Predictions for 202626:35 Oracle's Market Potential27:29 Alphabet's AI Advantage28:43 ASML and GE Aerospace Predictions31:55 Kinsale Capital and Stock Picks34:29 Stocks to Avoid in 202640:31 Reckless Predictions for 2026Companies mentioned: AAPL, ASML, BRK.B, DFH, ENPH, GE, GOOGL, GRBK, INTC, KNSL, LLY, LEN, MELI, META, MSFT, MSTR, MTH, NVDA, ORCL, PHM, PLTR, TREX, TSLA, WMT*****************************************Join our PatreonSubscribe to our portfolio on Savvy Trader *****************************************Email: investingunscripted@gmail.comTwitter: @InvestingPodCheck out our YouTube channel for more content: ******************************************To get 15% off any paid plan at fiscal.ai, visit https://fiscal.ai/unscripted******************************************Listen to the Chit Chat Stocks Podcast for discussions on stocks, financial markets, super investors, and more. Some of the biggest mistakes investors make aren't the stocks they buy - they're the ones they sell. In today's episode of Motley Fool Money, host Emily Flippen is joined by Fool analysts Jason Hall and Jeff Santoro to look back at some of The Motley Fool's most painful sell decisions, from Netflix and beyond.
