Adrian Meli is the co-CIO of Eagle Capital Management, a 36-year-old firm that manages $34 billion using a style-agnostic, long-only strategy. Adrian joined Eagle in 2008 from the hedge fund world and has helped build a team almost entirely comprised of analysts with similar DNA. Our conversation covers Adrian's early passion for finding value, path to investing, and transition from the hedge fund world to long-only at Eagle. We discuss Adrian's rationale for moving towards long-only, building a team of similar-minded analysts, finding a right to win, seeing around corners to identify outliers and research non-consensus ideas, and constructing a portfolio. Along the way, we discuss overcoming the challenges of active management, the growing inefficiencies in the public markets, and exciting current and potentially future opportunities.
This is Matt Reustle. Today we are breaking down the Latam e-commerce Giant, Mercado Libre. My guest is Daniel Wu of Bristlemoon Capital. I was introduced to MELI about 15 years ago when it was still the eBay of Latam, and similar to a place that you revisit after a long time away, MELI looks a lot different than those early days. Just consider that with a $120 billion market cap, MELI is three times the size of eBay today and has clearly evolved since those early days. Daniel walks us through the business as it stands today. And how MELI paired this Amazon-like e-commerce approach with a complementary but equally impressive FinTech business to fuel the company. It's an incredibly interesting road to success. Please enjoy this Breakdown of Mercado Libre. We're launching a new series—10 Years Later—where we open a time capsule, revisit a 5-Stock Sampler on its 10th birthday, and see what really happened. First up is our original (9/2/2015) sampler, 5 Stocks for the Next 5 Years: a motley mix that spanned Latin American e-commerce, rural convenience, blockbuster gaming, frontline cybersecurity, and kitchen-tech roll-ups. Longtime Fool Rick Munarriz joins as David's sidekick to share the what, why, and when of these stocks' march through the decade. How did each of these stocks do? How about the sampler's overall outperformance? David & Rick extract the key lessons. Rule Breaker Investing isn't just about keeping score; it's about learning how (and why) we win.

They unpack: - A stock that soared 44% last week, but can keep moving higher in the long run. - A cybersecurity leader that has bounced back after a whopper of a blunder last summer. - The bullish case for three stocks, one point at a time. Ali Meli reacts to the latest economic data, including the U.S. trade balance which is seeing a trend reversal after demand was pulled forward by tariffs. He expects imports to fall as domestic production takes over in some areas, which will lead to “deficit reduction.” His most significant concerns are around Factory Orders and equity market valuations. Ali thinks there could be a 10%-15% pullback in markets before the end of the year.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. When stars get really close to each other, it's like they're having a cosmic kiss. These star kisses can cause huge explosions called supernovae, lighting up the sky with incredible brightness. Sometimes, the stars can merge together to form an even bigger star. Other times, they might create a super-dense object called a black hole. It's an amazing cosmic event that shows just how powerful and dynamic our universe is! Credit: CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... Never thought quinoa could be in beer? Neither did the founder until she encountered a quinoa-barley brew on her travels through South America. Inspired, she returned to Boston, enlisted a few bold MIT scientists and embarked on a journey of experimentation to create a beer that would deliver all of the refreshment, with none of the bloat. The team refined the recipe for three years and over 100 formulations, until the crisp perfection that is Meli was born — the first beer in the U.S. brewed exclusively with quinoa as the base. It's sugar and gluten free and tastes so light and crisp, I had the chance to taste it when we sat down to talk all about Samara's journey that is now her full time gig! Meli

Episode 101. This is the second part of my discussion with Judith Pajo and Zeyneb Sayilgan about living our faiths in America and Germany. While we have all lived in both countries, we practice different faiths, representing the three Abrahamic religions––Judaism, Christianity, and Islam respectively. In the first part released on 12 June, we discussed our backgrounds, immigration patterns, religious identity and the dynamic of universalism and particularism. In this part, we continue the conversation about the universal and the particular, the problem with identity boxes, and the value or challenge of diversity, before shifting to the issues of the abuse of religion in national efforts to claim power. Bio for Judith:Judith Pajo, PhD, grew up in both Germany and the United States. She studied Catholic theology and cultural anthropology on both sides of the Atlantic and has been teaching at Pace University in New York City. Her new research on interfaith dialogue among Jews, Christians, and Muslims in Europe and North America, conceived a little over a year ago, is transforming her Catholic faith. She is currently working on an article about cultural transgressions in interfaith work. Judith lives in Queens, NY. From greenwashed marketing campaigns to the real, tangible challenges of sourcing natural materials and overhauling entrenched supply chains, creating truly sustainable clothing is no small feat. And no one knows this better than today's guests: Meli and Rensso Hinostroza, the sibling co-founders behind Arms of Andes.Born in California and raised between the U.S. and Peru, Meli and Rensso have built a brand rooted in their heritage and a mission to reconnect people with nature through minimalist, purpose-driven design. Specializing in alpaca wool apparel, they're confronting the realities of working within a global manufacturing system that wasn't built for sustainability. In this conversation, we explore what it actually takes to make garments from 100% natural fibers, how to navigate trade-offs between durability, performance, and environmental impact, and how brands can (and should) communicate sustainability claims with honesty. If you've ever wondered what goes into making that "eco-friendly" base layer you bought for your last backpacking trip, or how to spot genuine sustainability from greenwashed marketing, this is an episode you won't want to miss.INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/outdoor.minimalist.book/WEBSITE: https://www.theoutdoorminimalist.com/YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@theoutdoorminimalistLISTENER SURVEY: https://forms.gle/jd8UCN2LL3AQst976-----------------Arms of Andes Website: https://armsofandes.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/armsofandesTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@armsofandesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/armsofandes
