Meanwhile, Cam Green makes runs while Marnus doesn't, the South African squad is named, West Indies have a new captain, Middlesex is more into Virat Kohli than Kohli is into Middlesex, and Charlotte Edwards' first squad doesn't include Sophie Ecclestone, which might mean one of two very different things. Welcome once more into warm embrace of the Bishop and Bear. If its hot cricket conversation and convivial company you are after, you are in the right place.   India are in South Africa, although Durban seemed a bit more like Durham or Dundee yesterday and the first T20I was rained off. But that does not deter our two guests from delving into the prospects for the series in all formats.   Representing World Cup runners up India is a man who doesn't need a barstool as he travels everywhere with his own armchair, it is of course Ajit. And in the Proteas corner, simply oozing charm and cricket expertise, none other than Tim Dale Lace. Together with your Ursine Landlord and Episcopal Barman drinks are drunk and thoughts are thunk across all of the following:   ·     South Africa and India all formats o  Can South Africa build on the promise of the World Cup? o  Can India travel better than they usually do? Did they bless the rains down in Africa?   ·     West Indies vs England – what have we learned from the ODIs? o  The Buttler/Mott axis isn't working for ODIs? o  Can the T20s offer more hope? o  You gotta beat the clock, you gotta beat the clock – just a minute - no hesitation, repetition or deviation   ·     India Vs England Women – great start for England in T20's. But will the Test be a different ball game? o  England spinners looking good – particularly Sophie Ecclestone   ·     England Test selections for India o  Shoab Bashir – Who? o  No Jacks or Dawson o  Foakes returns – he must keep surely o  Stokes as batsmen only – what is the right balance   ·     Mitchell Johnson vs David Warner o  Handbags at dawn or does Mitchell have a point? In this episode of the show, we cover a lot of ground. From India's Test squad, to the women's and men's Ashes, across to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers and back to New Zealand. We start by discussing India's Test squad for their upcoming tour to the West Indies, which does not include Cheteshwar Pujara, but instead features the young talents of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Was it the right call?More Ashes content follows, as the two series continue to deliver maximum entertainment both on and off the field. We recap a closely fought women's Test, which saw individual highlights for Tammy Beaumont, Sophie Ecclestone, Ash Gardner, Annabel Sutherland and many others, and another Australian victory. On the men's side, it's been non-stop banter. Zak Crawley's predicting a big win for England. Ollie Robinson is claiming a points victory, but Pat Cummins and his Australian side have preferred to let the former players do the majority of the talking.Over in Zimbabwe, it's been a run-fest so far at the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers. The home side has been piling on the runs, and are in pole position to nab one of the two remaining 2023 World Cup spots as the Super Six begins. On the other hand, the West Indies' campaign is in tatters after their second loss of the tournament - Logan van Beek's incredible Super Over, in which he plundered 30 from the bowling of Jason Holder, saw The Netherlands home after the scores were tied at 374 (no that's not a typo) at the end of the first 100 overs. To round out the show, we discuss Kane Williamson's social media tease, as well as the impact of Michael Bracewell's injury for the Black Caps' World Cup chances and Leigh Kasperek's return to the White Ferns. We'll be back next week to wrap the second men's Ashes Test between England and Australia, plus the World Cup qualifiers and anything else that grabs our attention across the cricket world. WHAT... A... WORLD... CUP.... What have you done South Africa?! After a wild weekend where NZ and England qualified ahead of Australia in Group 1, all eyes were then on Group 2 where The Mighty Netherlands tipped over South Africa to send Group 2 into a frenzy. That made Pakistan v Bangladesh a quarter final, while India dusted Zimbabwe to go top of that group. Semi Finals now are Pakistan v NZ and England v India... mouth watering... Its been an incredible World Cup so we discuss is it the best World Cup? It might be the closest. Myself and Jacko run through the Semi Final teams strengths and weaknesses heading into the Semi Finals and then make our picks on who will progress to the Final. Its also time to reflect on where it went wrong for Australia and South Africa, who are off home... Well Australia are already home. Hope you enjoy this podcast! That game didn't even matter... The Boys are back reviewing the past few days of the T20 World Cup including England's 20 run win over NZ at the GABBA. The result almost definitely knocks Australia out who need a minor miracle going into their game against Afghanistan. We talk about what went right for England and how they are now Tournament favorites again and how and why NZ are now perfectly poised to go all the way. We also talk about Australia's chances of leaving the group after beating Ireland and what all these teams will have to do going into their last games. At 15 for 3 all hope was lost for the Blackcaps until Glenn Phillips smashed 104 off 64 balls to drag NZ through to 167. Myself and Lugsy discuss all things Glenn Phillips, from his very disappointing reason for the number on his jersey to his version of "Backing Up". We also discuss the landscape of Group 1 before a mammoth game between the Caps and England as England are suddenly on the brink of elimination... We then catch up on the Zimbabwe v Pakistan classic and then more recently the Zimbabwe v Bangladesh crazy finish. There's also a shout out to all the commentators who are on fire this tournament just quietly... This week we bring you a tantalising smorgasbord of sports. We celebrate the fantastic progress of England's Lionesses to the Euros Semi-Finals (with Tony feeling pleased that his prediction of an England v Germany final is still on). Andy has been working on his pronunciation of the Tour de France riders' names, as we look back at the finale of the men's race and the start of the women's race. In cricket whilst the men's 50-over series v South Africa finished in a washout, whilst there were records for Sophie Ecclestone and Katherine Brunt in the women's T20 series against South Arica's women. And in rugby we discuss two serious topics – the RFU decision regarding Trans players in the Women's game and the start of legal action by 185 former players suffering from a range of brain injuries. With the Commonwealth Games starting in Birmingham on Thursday, Tony gives a rundown of the key statistics and numbers around the event as many thousands of athletes, fans and volunteers head to Birmingham over the next 2 weeks. Definitely a show that is well worthy of being listened to in 29 countries!

India have fallen agonisingly short of the World Cup semifinals, being beaten on the last ball by South Africa to hand a playoff place to the West Indies. After England earlier secured their semifinal spot by completing a remarkable turnaround with victory over Bangladesh, India were left with a simple equation: beat South Africa and their tournament would continue. But having racked up 274-7 batting first against a South African side who had already sealed a second-place finish, India were barely unable to defend that total at Hagley Oval tonight.Mignon du Preez capped an unbeaten half century by hitting the winning run from the final delivery, having survived an apparent dismissal off a no ball earlier in a dramatic final over.As a result, the watching West Indies were able to celebrate passage to the World Cup semifinals for just the second time. To the semi-finals WI go!!!!! #CWC22 #TeamWestIndies pic.twitter.com/OHRr7vPpcT— Windies Cricket (@windiescricket) March 27, 2022 The West Indies, who finished fourth in pool play, will now face the unenviable task of playing top qualifiers Australia, with that match to be played at the Basin Reserve on Wednesday.England, having sneaked through after opening their tournament with three straight defeats, will face South Africa in the other semifinal at Hagley Oval on Thursday. It was a fittingly dramatic conclusion to pool play in a tournament that featured a number of tight finishes, with four teams separated on the standings by only two points.Australia (14 points) advanced through the round robin with a perfect seven-win record while South Africa (11) won five matches to finish second. England (8) recovered well after dropping their first three games while the West Indies (7), India (6) and New Zealand (6) all won three matches, with the Windies advancing courtesy of a wash-out against South Africa. All had looked lost for defending champions England but they secured their spot in knockout play following a win over Bangladesh in Wellington today, earning a fourth straight victory by beating the World Cup debutants by 100 runs.England didn't have the best start to their day after electing to bat, losing Danni Wyatt and Heather Knight in the opening eight overs in a slow start. Opener Tammy Beaumont only managed one boundary in a 69-ball 33 in a game England needed a big win to determine a better net run-rate than India. The middle order of Sophia Dunkley (67 off 72), Nat Sciver (40 off 57) and Amy Jones (31 off 57) picked things up somewhat to see England reach 234 -6.Bangladesh never looked serious in chasing the tally, not reaching 50 until the 21st over and by then they had lost both openers. The slow approach continued as they almost completed their 50 overs, bowled out for 134 in the 48th over.Sophie Ecclestone (three for 15 from 10 overs) was near perfect in restricting Bangladesh while spinner Charlie Dean took some late wickets to finish with 3-31.
