In His final hours before crucifixion, Jesus prayed fervently for unity among His followers. This unity wasn't about identical practices but rather a shared devotion to Christ and love for one another. Despite modern challenges like denominational differences and cultural divisions, true Christian unity becomes possible through humility, grace, and focus on core beliefs. The greatest testimony to the world isn't perfect doctrine, but unity in Christ despite differences.

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.' Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am he.'”. Not just God but the Father will be worshiped in Spirit and in Truth. The father desires the kind of worshipers that worship in the Holy Spirit and worshipers that worship in Truth – not a façade but a reality and an honesty before God. God is Spirit, and His worshippers must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth because Jesus told us, in John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. As we end our exploration of the virtues, we learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts perfect our virtues and increase our ability to respond to God's guidance and inspiration. The fruits of the Holy Spirit perfect us, are signs of a life lived in the Spirit, and are “the first fruits of eternal glory,” as the Catechism tells us. Our cooperation with the Holy Spirit sustains and perfects our moral life, enabling us to live a more full and joyful life. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1830-1845. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Paul is adamant that we throw off the things of this world and live in light of Christ Jesus who indwells us through His Spirit. Anything that is unlike Him must go. In this study of Ephesians 4:31–32, Nathan Johnson walks through Paul's two lists of what to put off and what put on and reminds us that we need the life of Christ within us if we ever hope to reflect Him in and through our lives.

3. Jesus’ Baptism Right mouse click to save this podcast episode as a mp3 Luke 3:21-23 - When all the people were being baptised, Jesus was baptised too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’ Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, We start with Jesus’ baptism, as it also shows the commencement of Jesus’ public ministry. Jesus is now about 30 years old. John the Baptist precedes all Gospel accounts of the start of Jesus’ ministry, and this is because repentance before God is the key to starting a new life in God’s Kingdom. Witness 1 – John the Baptist When John came (Luke3:1-2) – When John the Baptist appeared on the scene, no prophetic voice had been heard within Israel for almost 400 years. His coming was part of God’s perfect timing, for everything that relates to God’s Son is always on time (Gal.4:4; Jn.2:4, 13:1) How John came (Luke3:3) – Dressed and acting like the Old Testament prophet Elijah, John came to the area near the River Jordan, preaching and baptizing. He announced the arrival of the kingdom of heaven (Mt.3:3) and urged the people to repent. John’s baptism looked forward to the coming of the Messiah, while Christian baptism looks back to the finished work of Christ in His death and resurrection. Why John came (Luke 3:4-20) – John the Baptist was a voice “crying in the wilderness” (Is.40:1-5; Luke 3:4; Jn.1:23). Spiritually speaking, the nation of Israel was living in a state of unbelief and twisted spiritual reality. The people desperately needed to hear a voice from God, and John was that faithful voice. It was John’s work to prepare the nation for the Messiah and then present the Messiah to them. John is compared to an axeman cutting down trees that down bear fruit (Luke 3:9) or a farmer who burns useless chaff (Luke 3:17). Many Jews of the time thought they were destined for heaven simply because they were descended from Abraham. In Luke 3:7, John depicts the crowds as snakes. John the Baptist also was a teacher. He taught people to live their new faith (Luke 3:10-14). He told them not to be selfish, but to share their blessings with other people. Tax collectors were told by John to do their work honestly. Soldiers were to stop using their jobs for personal gain. John clearly stated that Jesus was “the Lord” (Luke 3:4) and the Son of God (Jn.1:34) Witness 2 & 3 – The Father and the Spirit Jesus comes to John the Baptist, and presents himself for baptism. John at first refuses to do it (Mt.3:13-15). He knew that Jesus of Nazareth was the perfect Son of God who had no need to repent of sin. Through his baptism, he identified with all sinners that he came to save. We have seen already that it is the start of his public ministry (Acts 1:21-22, 10:37-38). But why did Jesus get baptized? In replying to John’s initial refusal to baptize him, Jesus said “…it is proper for us to do this to fulfil all righteousness” (Mt.3:15). This looks forward to the cross, because it is only through the baptism of suffering that Jesus endured on the cross, that God is able to fulfil all righteousness. The “us” referred to means Father, Son and Spirit. When Jesus came up from the water, the Father spoke from heaven and identified Him as the beloved Son of God, and the Spirit visibly came upon Jesus in the form of a dove. Jesus as the Son of Man 3:23b-38 The genealogy here reminds us that the Son of God was also the Son of Man, born into the world, identifying with the needs and problems of mankind. Through the genealogy, we see down through the generations Jesus’ link to Adam and ultimately God. The phrase “the son of” generally means any remotely connected descendant or ancestor. It is a reminder that Jesus, being Joseph’s legal son was part of a human family, tribe, race and nation. Jesus’ line goes back through the Old Testament from Joseph to King David to Judah, Jacob, Isaac and Abraham, to Methuselah to Noah and Adam. The genealogy, with its link to David, shows Jesus’ right to ascend to David’s throne (Luke 1:32-33). The genealogy shows Jesus’ total human-ness, and because he is linked to Adam, identifies with all humanity and not just Israel. But there is one difference between Jesus and all other humans. In that Luke doesn’t stop the genealogy at Adam, as he would have for all other humans, Luke ultimately leads and links Jesus to being God’s Son. Son of God (Luke 3:38) – Adam has come into the world bearing the true image of a son of God, but, when Adam disobeyed God, that image was marred and scarred due to sin entering the world. All that is, except Jesus. The voice from God the Father ratified Jesus as the Son of God. Not a son of God as some may claim, but the one and only Son of God. This genealogy points to the unbroken relationship between Jesus and God. Jesus is as Adam was before Adam’s disobedience. For more to think about please do read Luke 4:1-30. Ask yourself the following questions and see how you respond or react to them. Q1. What lesson can I learn from the ministry of John the Baptist? Q2. What link is there between being tempted and doing the work God has give me to do? Q3. What lessons can I learn Jesus’ rejection at Nazareth? Welcome to Episode #122 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our second of eight episodes in our sixteenth mini-series, The Obedience of Faith.  On this episode we're going try and discern the Way of VIBRANT LIFE in the SPIRIT Jesus was inviting people into when he told them to: “Follow Me.” What did following mean and what would be the cost? When we overviewed Jesus' insights of the Parable of the Sower on our last mini-series we encountered Luke 8:18 – “Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.” Although I've read this passage well over 100 times in the past, I never “heard” what Jesus said in this passage – “Take care then how you hear!”Most have likely heard the euphemism, “In one ear, out the other.” That applied to my own readings of the Parable of the Sower in Luke 8:4-21, and misappropriation of the context of Luke 8:18. It was not until this year that it was revealed to me “taking care how I hear” was being applied to the word of God and my response. Game Changer. This was a HUGE revelation that is still unfolding in my life. It is illuminating the importance of meditative and inductive reading of scripture rather than just devotional reading. Plowing as I did through the Bible in overview mode of major thematic elements for our first fourteen mini-series I was shown once again the WAY of VIBRANT LIFE in the SPIRIT. It is not that I didn't know the WAY existed or that I haven't encountered the WAY. Rather, I rediscovered Jesus WAY of VIBRANT LIFE in the SPIRIT today, right now, as I'm recording this podcast. Right now, as you are listening to this podcast episode.

God, the Father, Is Spirit; Jesus Followers Must Worship the Father in Spirit and Truth with Reality and Honesty and Not a Façade MESSAGE SUMMARY: As Jesus, in John 4:23-26, tells the woman of Samaria by the well: “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. No one comes to the Father except through me.'". We serve a God who is Spirit, in His essence, as well as The Truth.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Keeping the Sabbath, Lord, will require a lot of changes in the way I am living life. Teach me, Lord, how to take the next step with this in a way that fits my unique personality and situation. Help me to trust you with all that will remain unfinished and to enjoy my humble place in your very large world. In Jesus' name, amen.   Scazzero, Peter. Power from the Holy SpiritActs 1:3-5 & 8 “After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is what you have heard from me;  for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Last night in my Encounter Ministries class we had a baptism of the Holy Spirit.  This is when someone gets prayed over for the Holy Spirit to become active in someone's life.  As a Catholic, I know that when I was Baptized as a baby, I received the Holy Spirit.  Then when I was confirmed, that was my adult Baptism into the church and the Holy Spirit came upon me then as well.  For those listening who are not Catholic, I am not sure on your beliefs.  I have heard the Holy Spirit comes upon you when you accept Jesus Christ as your savior and receive a Baptism at your church.  For all of us, a Baptism of the Holy Spirit, in its fullness, is not an event, it's a lifestyle.    They Holy Spirit has the power to transform your life so that you are never the same again.  However, you need to cooperate with the Spirit and give it permission to do so.  So, if we have already received the Holy Spirit at our Baptism, why would we need or want a Baptism in the Holy Spirit?  Doesn't He already live inside of us?  Yes, if you have been Baptized then the Holy Spirit is living inside of you.  However, have you asked the Spirit for the gifts He has to share with you?  Have you invited Him into your life to work in a powerful way?  When you are baptized you are given the gift of the Holy Spirit.  However, it is up to you to open that gift and use it.  Encounter has an interesting way of explaining it.  Imagine you are a glass of milk and the Holy Spirit is chocolate sauce.  You can add the chocolate sauce to the milk, but if you don't stir the milk you don't have chocolate milk, you just have chocolate sauce in your milk.  The Holy Spirit is kind of like this.  Yes, you have the Holy Spirit, but you have to do something to activate that gift.  In the verse above, Jesus was spending time with the apostles after He came back to life after being crucified.  Let's stop there for a minute. The Holy Spirit brought Jesus back from the dead.  That same Holy Spirit is living inside of you.  Isn't that amazing?  I still remember the first time I heard that I just couldn't believe it.  If you don't believe me you can look in the Bible at Romans 8:11 “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.”  That just blows my mind that we have the same Spirit Jesus had.  The Holy Spirit is the one who empowered Jesus to do all the miracles.  The Holy Spirit gave Jesus the power to touch so many peoples lives.  Jesus did not use his divinity while here on earth, He relied on the Holy Spirit, the same one that we have living inside of us.  In the verse above Jesus orders the apostles to stay in Jerusalem and wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is what you have heard from me;  for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” This is the great commission Jesus gave to His apostles and all of us.  We are all to spread the word to everyone, all the way to the ends of the earth.  Jesus is talking to you and me as much as He is talking to the apostles.  Jesus never intended for it to be the job of 12 men to spread the Good News to the entire world.  I believe He intended for them to begin spreading the world and then each person they talk to does their part in spreading the Good News.  This is much easier to do if we have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us.  I don't know about you, but I could sure use some help.  I am not necessarily a shy person, but I am a people pleaser who does not like confrontation and cares way too much what other people think about me.  So, it is not easy for me to talk to others about Jesus.  I worry if I will upset them, I worry I will look stupid, I worry they will be mean.  All of this means that I don't open my mouth in many situations. However, through prayer the Holy Spirit is helping me get over this fear.  I pray often for a Holy boldness to say whatever I feel the Holy Spirit prompting me to say.  I definitely still have times when I am not confident enough to say what I feel led to say, but those times are becoming less and less.  I would not be doing this podcast if the Holy Spirit wasn't helping me write each episode and giving me the courage to put them out there in the world where people can hear them.  Writing them is one thing, but sharing them with the world is another.  What if they don't like them, what if I say something that isn't true, I am not a theologian, what if I upset someone?  These are the type of questions that can paralyze someone and keep them from stepping out into the purpose God gave them.  I am grateful that I know the power of the Holy Spirit.  I am grateful I know that He wants to equip each one of us for our mission.  I know that He is there giving me the strength to do all things I am called to do.  One of my favorite sayings is, “God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.”  The Holy Spirit will give you all you need to do whatever God is asking you to do.  All you have to do is say yes!If you have been baptized and you have not asked the Holy Spirit for any of His gifts I ask you to consider doing so.  I ask you to consider asking the Holy Spirit to come into your everyday life.  Give Him permission to act in your life.  Ask Him to show you what God has in store for you and then ask Him to give you the power to yes to God's plan, even if you are scared, even if there is so much that is unknown, trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to help you.  I know this is a big prayer and also, who couldn't use a little more power in their life?  If there is one word that God has been making sure I heard over these last few months, it's that God has so much more for us.  He wants to give us more but we aren't asking for it.  Spend some time with God today and ask Him where in your life He wants to give you more.  Talk to the Holy Spirit and give Him permission to work in your life.  I am sure He is already working in your life, but give Him the permission to work more powerfully in your life.  You will be amazed at the ways you see your life changing.Dear Heavenly Father, please bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, thank you so much for giving us the Holy Spirit, you are amazing, The Holy Spirit is amazing.  Thank you for bestowing this power upon on. Help us to use the Holy Spirit to build up your kingdom.  Help each one of us to do our part to fulfill your great commission.  Open our eyes, hearts and mind to the Holy Spirit. If anyone is confused, or doesn't understand about the Holy Spirit, we pray you enlighten their mind so they can live more fully with the Holy Spirit in their lives.  We love you Lord, you are awesome.  You love us so much and we are so grateful. We ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.  Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus.  I truly appreciate each and every one of you for listening.  If you are interested in doing a witness Wednesday, please let me know.  It is much more interesting when it isn't me doing them each week.  I look forward to sharing another witness with you tomorrow.  Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I. Have a blessed day!

So imagine this. The Spirit of God flowing within you like rivers of living water. The Spirit of God welling up within you like a spring of water of life. Feel this flowing all through your body. Replacing stress and tension with the transcendent presence of God‘s peace. Replacing anxiety with the calm confidence of God‘s presence. Replacing fear and insecurity with the renewing strength of God‘s eternal life. Replacing anger with the softening assurance of God‘s love. Imagine this.

We're continuing our in-depth video study series on Basic Christian Doctrine: The Nature Of God + The Gospel Plan Of Salvation. This series will explore some of the most overlooked essentials and basics of Biblical Christian doctrine. Doctrine is simply a teaching. It is the basis or foundation for how one lives and conducts his life. As the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus, working through the apostles and prophets, laid the foundation of the doctrine of the church. The early church held to their doctrine so closely that they were willing to give up their lives for it. But as the centuries passed, more and more false doctrines crept into the church, corrupting it from within. What began as a powerful inferno became nothing more than a glowing ember by the Middle Ages. Then came the Reformation, as men began an effort to restore the church back to the doctrinal truths of the original apostolic church. However, although some progress was made, many false doctrines were retained. Today, the Spirit of God is breathing afresh across the world and igniting the revelation of the doctrine of the original church described in the historical record of the Book of Acts. As we undertake a study of the foundational principles of true Christian doctrine, we will uncover just how far mainstream Christianity has strayed from the sound teachings of the Scriptures! In this 3rd episode, we will cover: The Nature Of God -The Oneness Of God (Section 4) -God Is A Spirit (Section 5) -Jesus Was A Genuine Man (Section 6) -Jesus Is God (Section 7) Visit https://www.LetUsReason.com to download the full study notes, complete with references, charts, and quotes.

This is a rebroadcast of #407, one of many episodes done on a series of the Holy Spirit. The series began in #399. This being a time of "waiting" for the Spirit that comes right after Jesus' resurrection, we still should position for more of life from the Spirit Jesus promises. Today meditate on some scriptures for the role of the Holy Spirit working contrary to your flesh. Consider the daily, even moment-by-moment battle scripture declares. Use time at the end to admit any area of conflict. He promises to be your victory, since through the Spirit we put to death the misdeeds of the body, Romans 8:13. Please share us with a friend! Sermon Overview Scripture Passage: Isaiah 53:4-6; 1 Peter 3:18 Adrian Rogers says, “Calvary was not only the Earth's greatest tragedy, but it was God's greatest triumph.” Seven hundred years before Jesus Christ suffered and died upon the cross for our sins, the purpose of His passion was prophesied in Isaiah 53. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). First, we must recognize the substitutionary purpose of the Cross. Jesus died on the cross as our substitute. Our sinfulness separates us from our Holy God. There is no possible way for a just God to overlook our unjust sin. In order to punish sin, yet love the sinner at the same time, God sent His son, Jesus, to reconcile the world. There is a river of blood that runs all the way from Genesis to Revelation, in which God atoned for our sins through sacrifice. Jesus became that final, perfect sacrifice for our sins. Adrian Rogers says, “Salvation does not come by learning lessons from the life of Christ, but by receiving life from the death of Christ.” Second, we see the suffering passion of the Cross. 1 Peter 3:18 says, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit…” Jesus suffered emotionally; before He faced the cross, Jesus asked God that “if it be possible, let this cup pass…” (Matthew 26:39). The cup is a metaphor for taking on the pollution and punishment of sin. Jesus faced immense physical suffering upon the cross; He died in utter agony in order to satisfy God's wrath. But praise God, at the end of Jesus' suffering, we see the settled provision of the cross; in His final moments, Jesus declared, “It is finished.” This statement means our sins were paid for in full. Finally, we understand the saving power of the Cross. Through Christ's sacrifice, we have been brought to God, made alive by His Spirit. Apply it to your life Do you believe in Jesus Christ, whose death atones for our sins, brings us to God, and makes us alive? Remember His passion and the purpose of the cross; share your faith with others today.

In Luke 4 we see how the Holy Spirit leads Jesus into the wilderness. Why would he possible do that? Do we go looking for trouble, or does trouble come looking for us? We would think that the Spirit would help us avoid trouble, however in this moment it's for a reason. Jesus who is the second Adam will be tempted. The first Adam was tempted in paradise, and a perfect environment, and now the Second Adam is being tempted in the wilderness, and hardship. Where the first Adam failed the Second conquered.
