Krizler çağında 'dünyayı nasıl değiştiririz?' sorusuna ek olarak 'dünyayı neden değiştiremiyoruz?' sorusunu soruyor ve insanlığın dönüm noktalarından biri olabilecek olası bilinç devrimini, felsefeci ve aktivist Steve Best'in "Hayvan Hakları ve Aydınlanma" metni üzerinden konuşuyoruz.
In this episode, I talk to the brilliant comedian and photographer, STEVE BEST. As a comedian, Best has a very immature and zany presence on stage elevating his comedy to laugh-out-loud status. He is a man of many talents and has an exceptional form of slapstick humour. As a photographer, Best has unprecedented access to the comedy world, regularly seen at comedy gigs taking photographs of the comics backstage and capturing the real essence of what it is like to be a stand-up comedian. His wonderful, published books, to date, are Comedy Snapshot (2014), Joker Face (2017) and Comedians (2022). The sequel Comedians 2 is due for publication in September 2023. All are available from his website below. I have watched Best perform at the Putney Comedy Tree in London in 2009, as well as attending the exhibitions Steve Best: Clicking Comedians (2018), Steve Best: Comedians Back To Front (2019) and was an invited guest for the launch of his book Comedians (2022), all at the Observatory Photographic Gallery in London. Thank you so much for listening to my podcast, if you like what you hear, please subscribe and I hope you enjoy the interview. Leave us your feedback for this podcast on iTunes and number two, get the free ebook at landacademy.com, you don't even have to read it. Thanks for listening. Steve: Jack Butala here from Land Academy, welcome to our Cash Flow From Land Show. In this episode, Jill and I talk about two ways to solve every problem; you can throw money at it, or time. Jill, that sounds fun. I'm sure I'll let it go sideways somehow. Before we get into it, let's take a question from a caller. Jill: Okay, Erica from LA called in and ... nice. Erica from LA called in and asked, "I know you guys are for real, but I don't know why anyone would want to live way out in the middle of nowhere." I love that, that's so funny. Steve: That's not a question, that's more of a comment. Jill: I think it's funny how that comes up. Steve: We should devise a system where these super often frequent questions would go every other one. Jill: Okay, that's a good idea. Steve: You go this time or unless you want me to. Jill: Oh no, you go. Rock, paper, scissors. Steve: Let me ask this ... okay, ready? Jill: Rock, paper, scissors. Okay, ready? All right, here we go. Steve: Best out of three? Jill: All right, just one, I just want to do one. Steve: Just one? Jill: Okay, ready? One, two, three. Steve: Oh. Jill: Shoot. Steve: We both got the paper. Go again. Jill: All right. One, two, three. Steve: Oh. Jill: Ah, I won. Steve: She won. Jill: I got paper, he had rock. Steve: I put rock. Jill: Yeah, now you got to answer the question. Steve: Why would anybody ever want to ... first of all, we never use that phrase anymore here. We don't say, "Middle of nowhere." I got sick of it about six years ago, it snucks it's way back in this office. Not this office but now that we have Land Academy. Jill: I hear it now and then, but you know what, everybody kind of gets it, they're good about it. Steve: Here's the thing, there's a bajillion people that want to live everywhere, okay? The internet's never been more popular, it's getting better and better and better. There's technology for solving your own water and sewer, and all the stuff that's required to live on properties; it gets better every year. Man, I mean, if there is problem selling these type of assets, Jill, then I guess we wouldn't have done just about sixteen thousand transactions. Jill: I know, that's the best part. It's like ... my product is flying off the shelves, so ... Steve: I've begun to say this, "Why would anybody want to live in Manhattan?" I wouldn't. Jill: That's an even better question. You're right. Steve: I'd love to go to New York for two days, it's like Las Vegas, two days and that's it. Jill: Let's think about this; you can see the sky, you can breath, you can park, people aren't running into you. Yeah, why would you live downtown? Next. Steve: You know, I never heard a million people say this, I don't understand this, but I'm going to make my point here in a second. Why would anybody live in Southern California. There's so much traffic, there's a ton of pollution, and I personally think that person's nuts. I know you agree, Jill. Jill: Did you really just say that? Steve: I love Southern California ... Jill: Okay, thank you. Steve: ... but it's just ... to each his own. People line up that are ... don't want a mortgage, first of all. It costs next to nothing to live in a lot of these places. And we don't just sell properties that we have in the middle of certain places. We sell properties everywhere, so no, I think, really, the root of the question is, "Yeah, you can buy it cheap, but does anybody really gonna buy it from you?" That's what I think the root of the question is. Jill: The answer is, "Yes."

30 years ago, the legal community began to see the value in the intersection between technology and the law. This month’s guests are Damon Rose and Emma Tracey, creators and producers of #BBCOuch. We ask if Google maps is as accurate as a blind person might need it. We explain what trailing is and the often asked question - is the #Braille signage in the loo on trains actually useful? And is it ok to use your Guide dog or a mobility scooter when you’re drunk? We visit the perennial debate about disability on TV - specialist programmes like Channel 4’s Kitchen Impossible or integrated shows. Emma and Damon explain the origins of BBC Ouch and how some of their more risqué segments came about and there’s clips of their favourite moments. Steve Best as the token non-disabled host questions if the #disability #humour went too far and do you have to be ‘down with the #disability mood’ to appreciate it. Our regular contributor Robin Christopherson of Ability Net talks about accessible tech and Shannon Murray updates us on life in LA. #comedy
Steve Best & Simon Minty talk about the first 7 days with Tanyalee Davis. They talk about all sharing a flat, how the #comedy show is, #disability and #edfringe2015 and shows they want to see.

On the first day of the 2015 American Bar Association TECHSHOW in Chicago, Legal Talk Network producer Laurence Colletti, and hosts Adriana Linares and Tom Mighell sit down with ABA Techshow Chair Brett Burney and his successor, Steve Best. Together, they discuss highlights from the first day including tracks about Microsoft Office, cloud computing, and other current legal technology. While Burney and Linares rave about the free advice and networking the conference provides, Best creates some excitement about the 2016 TECHSHOW (hint: it’s a special anniversary). Lawyers and legal professionals, if you’re excited about the buzz of ABA TECHSHOW, tune in for this exclusive first look!
Simon Minty and Steve Best are joined by Mat Fraser (American Horror Story; Beauty and the Beast) and Liz Carr (Silent Witness). Liz and Mat used to present a podcast on BBC Ouch, and this is the first time they've been back in the studio together since they moved on. Both are active campaigners but perhaps now more widely known for their artistic work (including television). They speak about how this affects them, with a wisecrack or two along the way. Non-disabled Steve asks if the new RoboCop is a #disabled person, whilst Simon wonders if a #wheelchair is sacred space but a scooter public property (and should you charge if someone wants a ride?). #BBC Radio New Comedy Act 2014 Lost Voice Guy chips in with his thoughts on The Theory of Everything. It's a good one, tune in now. #disability #comedy #humour

Our producer Amanda Foss will be taking your calls and getting you live on air. SURPRISE: Every caller to this episode will be entered into a special draw to win a free "Square It" t-shirt from the Hendrick Boards boys.
