In a world on fire, where every system we rely on is buckling under the weight of its own contradictions, it's time to admit that control is a dangerous illusion. But while politicians and corporations cling to algorithms for predictability, artists, writers, and musicians have always known the truth: chaos isn't a threat – it's a gift.At this RSA event, Margaret Heffernan explores how our obsession with stability and ‘solutions' – now amplified by artificial intelligence – is not only futile but potentially destructive. She invites us to rethink the role of AI in creativity, questioning whether art and innovation can survive when algorithms are programmed to reduce risk and spontaneity. In conversation with prominent figures in arts and culture, Margaret will challenge deeply ingrained beliefs about how we live, work, and create in a world increasingly shaped by AI. Through the lens of those who thrive in uncertainty, she will explore whether creativity can coexist with systems designed for control – and how we can harness both chaos and technology to provoke meaningful action in turbulent times. Speakers:Margaret Heffernan, author, broadcaster, speakerJosette Bushell-Mingo OBE, Principal, The Royal Central School of Speech and DramaAndrew Grant, RDI, landscape architectChair:Andy Haldane, RSA Chief ExecutiveDonate to the RSA: https://thersa.co/3ZyPOEaBecome an RSA Events sponsor: https://utm.guru/ueembFollow RSA on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thersaorg/Like RSA on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theRSAorg/Listen to RSA Events podcasts: https://bit.ly/35EyQYUJoin our Fellowship: https://www.thersa.org/fellowship/join

Take a trip down memory lane with a story from our archives.A date, on a tractor, in an abandoned constructions site, at night? Jackie says yes. And then there was the "yoga" date that was ... well ... even we don't quite know how to explain it. The word cult comes to mind? London-based voice actor and stand-up comedian Jacqueline Ozorio has been on some interesting dates.Jackie is a London-based trained voice actor with a passion for character work and storytelling. To further my career as a performer, she moved to London after completing her postgrad in Scriptwriting at Griffith University. She was later accepted into the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) where she completed an MA in Music Theatre.Jackie then wrote her first musical, a modern feminist comedy called ‘Real Women', alongside musical director and composer Matthew Samer, which enjoyed great success in the 2015 Queensland Cabaret Festival.Since 2018 she's been a regular on the Penny Peepshow podcast, and love the challenge of giving life to so many different characters. Alongside her professional voice over and theatre work, she can also be found doing stand-up comedy on London's open mic circuit. To keep herself fresh and engaged, she also trains in long-form improv with London's largest improv school, the Free Association, and in her spare time she loves to play DnD, watch horror films, and knit hats on the tube.www.jacquelineozorio.comtwitter: @jdozorioinsta: @jacqueline_ozorio Hosted on Acast. Ebony's love of musical theatre was passed down from her late Mother who loved to watch musical movies with her daughter while grading her students' homework. After a long conversation with her friend Pamela about growing up a theater geek, obsessively listening to cast recordings and also loving true crime, they created the podcast Theatre Geeks Anonymous. At a very young age, Pamela Shandrow knew she wanted to be an actress. It was at 10 years old, when she watched the PBS version of Into The Woods with Bernadette Peters, that she decided her future would be in musical theatre! Since then she's performed in numerable regional shows, but is most proud of her work in the Broadway National Tours of Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked, as ensemble/Carlotta US and ensemble/Madame Morrible US respectively.Show LinksTheatre Geeks Anonymous At the Drop of a Hat Show Girl AllegianceSupport the showFilmed Live Musicals is where musicals come home.
