Joe Hermes, one of the hottest new acts in the Rock Country scene, is an Illinois native and former defensive lineman known for his edgy vocal textures and high-energy performances. What better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day -- and the 200th Episode of Laugh Tracks Legends of Comedy -- than by turning the spotlight on Ardal O'Hanlon, a masterful Irish stand-up comic and television star. Launching into a late 1980s Dublin scene that didn't have much comedy, Ardal had a solution! With a couple of college mates he started a comedy club, then went on to win a "New Act of the Year" award at the Hackney Empire comedy competition in 1994. A long tv career followed with Ardal playing everything from a child-like priest to a superhero to a detective investigator in the recent "Death in Paradise". (20:04) Translating Trump's manifold antisemitism, including the 'real loyalty' trope, his history of calling Israel "your country" to American Jewish groups, the 'You know some people would mistreat you Jews but I didn't so why haven't you rewarded me' threat, and especially (22:39) invoking the Evangelicals, for whom the Jews are a prop in their "End Times" fantasy of the return of Jesus followed by all Jews converting - or being slaughtered (27:00) Given Trump's history of Hitler worship this is especially virulent stuff. I was joined by character comedian President Obonjo otherwise known as Benjamin Bankole Bello. We chat about spending formative years in Nigeria, starting comedy a little later in life and whether or not we'll see this mad dictator in Nollywood. However, some say it's a myth and has instead moved to St Albans where he now performs headline spots and festival shows throughout the United Kingdom.    President Obonjo,  is an upcoming and increasingly successful stand-up comedian and who has been peforming Comedy for the past 10 years.. As the larger-than-life, uber-confident, self-appointed, side-splitting dictator of 'Lafta Republic', President Obonjo has quietly been leading a comedy revolution to become the first President to take over the comedy industry by storm. He has been creating rumblings by storming New Act competitions including winning Luton Comedian of the Year, Runner-Up at Great Yorkshire Fringe and was a finalist in the Naty New Act of the . This week I chat to the wonderful and multi-talented Naomi Paxton.    Naomi trained as a performer at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). After ten years as a professional actor, she started a PhD. In 2013 she edited The Methuen Drama Book of Suffrage Plays (Bloomsbury) which launched at a Platform event at the National Theatre entitled Suffragettes on Stage. Other publications include Stage Rights! The Actresses' Franchise League, Activism and Politics 1908-1958 (Manchester University Press, 2018) and a second edited collection, The Methuen Drama Book of Suffrage Plays: Taking the Stage (Bloomsbury, 2018). A confident, engaging and creative public speaker, Naomi was one of the AHRC/BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinkers for 2014-15.  Her extensive public engagement experience includes regular appearances on BBC radio and television, and talks at the National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, the Barbican, the National Archives, the Hay Festival and Latitude Festival, amongst others.  ​Naomi is the regular MC for Museums Showoff and the V&A Museum's Carry on Curating shows, Naomi is currently Knowledge Exchange Fellow at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London,  Associate Fellow of the School of Advanced Study, University of London, and an Associate Artist of feminist production hub Scary Little Girls.    She worked in Parliament from 2017-18 on an AHRC funded project entitled What Difference Did the War Make? World War One and Votes for Women and was nominated for a Parliamentary Diversity and Inclusion Award for her work with the Vote 100 team.  She performs at comedy, cabaret and variety nights as her character Ada Campe. Ada won the prestigious New Act of the Year Show (NATYS) in 2018, and the 2018 Old Comedian of the Year competition. Naomi has contributed to two recent books about women in comedy, The What the Frock!
