We are back for another great interview, today with Andrew Embry, a brand manager -- plus a wordsmith, poet. and creative alchemist. Andrew combines spoken word & poetry with his data research and marketing roles at https://www.lilly.com/ (Eli Lilly and Company. ) Listen to the entire podcast to hear Andrews poem “bringing love into work” starting at 15:47 Andrew has been writing and performing poetry since he was a child. He has managed to not only use poetry skills offstage but also bringing these skills to work too where he has performed in front of 1000 of his colleagues. He is an avid reader of books, blogs, and watcher of films to keep his creative juice flowing. One of those books is https://www.amazon.com/Radical-Candor-Kim-Scott/dp/B01KTIEFEE (Radical Candor) by Kim Scott. The book focuses on the importance of giving quality, direct feedback to individuals, which has enabled him to give and receive feedback better. Andrew says, if you can help people see how they're using their own style of creativity, then they can see how much that's valued and they can lean into who they are and bring even more value to you and your team. Andrew has been writing his blog Striking Matches since Jube 2013, and he gives us pointers on how he has been able to get creative ideas over the past 9 years to keep writing. The way he has done this is by having a creative mindset-believing that there is a story and hidden beauty inside everything. Looking at the world (experiences) as your oyster. A few ideas on how to bring creativity to work especially in remote settings or working from home can include: getting up and taking walks, working out in the morning, or even taking breaks during the day just to go play with your kids. As part of the brand management team, you can bring creativity in your solutions by being empathetic to your customers' needs, while at the same time using the data you collect to make heart-level decisions when telling stories. The future of marketing will be more innovative in the digital space, as we focus on meeting customers at their point of need. We need to know how to use machine learning to help turn data into insights that we can use to be better. Listen to the entire podcast to hear Andrews poem “bringing love into work”
Grinding guitars + soaring vocals = stripped-down rock bliss. The spark for Striking Matches flared in 2007, on the first day Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis met in a guitar class at Belmont University. They've been playing as a duo and leading other musicians under the band's banner, with an album and a handful of EPs to their credit, ever since. Recently, Premier Guitar's John Bohlinger met with Zimmermann and Davis in their East Nashville studio while they took a break from recording their new album. Zimmermann and Davis did some show-and-tell, pulling a lot of Gibson, Fender, and Takamine out of their collective hats, and playing some killer music, too. Bucks County Bytes presents to you the award-winning songwriter, singer, actress, and Keith Urban's favorite Raise 'Em Up tour moments, Kendal Conrad! I discovered Kendal from my friend and social media personality, George Wacker, who is known as Lehigh Valley With Love....once I went exploring Kendal's music I was in love with her voice and her Martin guitar! I reached out to her and asked if she could come on the show and tell the world her story! She has the most amazing personality, voice, and love for what she does! Kendal Conrad has such an extensive list of remarkable and outstanding performances, but the highlight really is when she performed and sang a duet with Keith Urban on stage in Bethlehem's Musicfest singing "We Were Us" as part of the Raise 'Em Up Tour and it is said this is one Keith Urban's favorite tour moments! She also joined Walker Hayes onstage to perform "Halloween" for 92.5 XTU's Ski Day at Jack Frost Big Boulder. Kendal is also International Miss Talent and won the title with her original song "Girlstrong." She has performed at the White House, Wells Fargo Center, Sands Casino, Six Flags, Hersheypark, the Bitter End, Musikfest, and the Susquehanna Bank Center for 92.5 XTU's anniversary party. Kendal has sung the National Anthem for MLB, NBA, MMA, NASCAR, and NBC's National Dog Show. She was a finalist in the NBC 10 Talent Search and a finalist in the Colgate Country Showdown. Kendal was the 2015 Country Showdown Winner for Philadelphia's 92.5 XTU. She has opened for country artists Blake Shelton, Charlie Daniels Band, Devin Dawson, Drew Baldridge, Alabama, Walker Hayes, Hunter Hayes, Brandon Lay, Carter Winter, Sara Evans, Tucker Beathard, Jerrod Niemann, Michael Ray, Thompson Square, Parmalee, Dylan Schneider, Diamond Rio, Kane Brown, Granger Smith, Phil Vassar, Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins, Easton Corbin, Trailer Choir, Maggie Rose, Craig Campbell, Mo Pitney, Striking Matches, Old Dominion, Outshyne, Chris Cagle, and The Cadillac Three and performed personally for author Nicholas Sparks. She has played the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, the Foundry at the Fillmore, iPlay America, Jenks Club, Prospector's Saloon, One Centre Square, Sherman Theater, Sellersville Theatre, Provident Bank Park, PPL Center, Wayne County Fair, PGA Concert at the Bogey, and the Santander Arena. Kendal was an extra in the film Silver Linings Playbook where she can be seen bumping into Bradley Cooper. She starred as Holly Golightly in the exclusive post-Broadway production of Breakfast at Tiffany's at the Civic Theatre of Allentown. Kendal recorded her first EP in country star Reba McEntire's studio in Nashville. But my favorite part about Kendal is her sincere love of music and her love of the Martin guitar she plays...and I had the honor to chat with her and who she is on my podcast...her laugh and love are truly addicting and I hope you enjoy her chat as much as I did!! THE SECRET SISTERS vocals and their love and respect for music and harmony first caught the attention of the legendary T Bone Burnett who produced the duo's self-titled debut and second full-length album, 'Put Your Needle Down'. From Florence, Alabamajust outside of the legendary music mecca Muscle Shoals, the duo of Laura and Lydia Rogers wrap their flawless harmonies around songs that evoke the timeless feel of classic country, folk and Americana music. The sisters have toured with everybody from She & Him and Paul Simon to Ray Lamontagne, filming their own PBS special with Elvis Costello and Jakob Dylan, and recorded music for the platinum-selling soundtrack to The Hunger Games. STRIKING MATCHES are the Nashville guitar-wielding duo of Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis. They creates an unexpected and unique sound that occupies that sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock and blues, where all of the elements blend to form an authentically raw and rootsy sound that has a timeless and international appeal. Their songs have been featured on ABCs hit drama series Nashville and T Bone Burnett produced their debut album 'Nothing But The Silence'. WoodSongs Kids: Three Creek Over is a bluegrass band from Pickens, South Carolina. The band is made up of Sarah Stewart, Sean Crowe and Sabrina Stewart. Three good friends and award winning musicians, who have been playing music together since 2012.
