** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ** Featured in WYGYFF Episode 5: Longtime friend and fellow funkateer, Tim Kinley, to this edition of Where'd You Get Your Funk From? He is one of the foremost advocates and archivists dedicated to supporting and honoring everything and everyone associated with the ParliaFunkadelicment Thang and P-Funk mastermind George Clinton. That includes primary cohorts like Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Garry Shider, Eddie Hazel and many dozens more, as well as groups like Parliament, Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Parlet, Brides of Funkenstein, and Fred Wesley and the Horny Horns. RECORDED SEPTEMBER 2024 Hosted by Scott "DR GX" Goldfine — musicologist, author of “Everything Is on the One: The First Guide of Funk” and creator/host of the popular TRUTH IN RHYTHM podcast — "Where'd You Get Your Funk From?" is the latest interview show brought to you by FUNKNSTUFF.NET. Where'd You Get Your Funk From (WYGYFF) is an open format video and audio podcast focusing on the here and now, with a broad range of creative and artistic guests sharing fascinating stories, experiences, and perspectives. WYGYFF is a welcoming avenue to newer and independent musical acts as well as established and still active musicians of any genre; authors; filmmakers; actors; artists; collectors and archivists; radio & podcast personalities; journalists; scholars; sound techs; promoters; photographers; and other creative people. A common thread, is the show's standard opening question: Where'd you get your funk from? This is much deeper than it may seem as the answer need not be strictly about funky music, as not everyone has found the funk. It could hit on whatever type of music touches their soul or pleasure centers. Additionally, the question extends beyond music. Paraphrasing George Clinton, funk is whatever it needs to be to get you over the hump. Thus, guests can explain where they got their grit, perseverance, inspiration, talent, creativity, character or other qualities that shaped them into who they are today. This serves as a springboard into candid, in-depth and engrossing conversations. LEGAL NOTICE: All video and audio content protected by copyright. Bootsy Collins is, perhaps, the funkiest man of all time. Over the course of his nearly six decade career, Collins has given up the funk in the iconic Parliament Funkadelic, helmed Bootsy's Rubber Band, and lended his slaparific talents to songs from everybody from James Brown to Dee-Lite to Fatboy Slim. His new album, aptly titled Album of the Year #1 Funkateer, is on the way, so in celebration of his illustrious career, we invited Bootsy Collins – aka Casper the Funky Ghost – onto Switched on Pop to reminisce on some of his greatest hits. Spawn #74 - Story - Todd McFarlane & Brian Holguin, Pencils - Greg Capullo, Inks - Danny Miki, Letters - Tom Orzechowski, Colors - Brian Haberlin & Dan Kemp As Sam and Twitch examine the file on Al Simmons that Cogliostro left with them, it becomes clear that they don't have all the pieces to the puzzle. They do know that Jason Wynn may have a lot of the answers, but since they can't get to Wynn they plan to go after Spawn himself again for the answers to their questions. What they don't know is that Spawn is engaged in a life and death struggle with The Heap and when the dust settles, it isn't the Hellspawn who comes out on top. When Cogliostro and Bootsy come upon the scene of that battle it becomes apparent, that Spawn is not present on Earth, Heaven or Hell. Does this mean Spawn has been erased from existence? If so, who is The Heap working for and just how powerful are they?
Spawn #72 - Story - Todd McFarlane & Brian Holguin, Pencils - Greg Capullo, Inks - Danny Miki Todd McFarlane & Chance Wolf, Letters - Tom Orzechowski, Colors - Brian Haberlin & Dan Kemp Sam and Twitch get a visit from Cogliostro telling them they need to start doing more to help Spawn. In an attempt to persuade them, he leaves a file with information about Spawn, but just what is in it, remains a mystery for now. Meanwhile, in Rat City, Spawn, Bootsy and Cogliostro all sense a menacing presence which is the cause of an unrelenting heatwave in Manhattan. What they don't know is the being beyond it, represents a new faction in the war between Heaven and Hell and it looks like he may on his own side. Just wait until you are introduced to ... THE HEAP!

Phil and the guys are joined by someone whom they've inspired to speak out about Jesus: country singer, songwriter, and internet sensation Buddy Brown and his wife, Bootsy. Phil cracks wise about his reputation for bucking the dress code wherever he goes, and Al draws a line between the Robertson family as seen in “The Blind” and the Robertson family of today. Buddy encourages the next generation to stand up for faith and backwoods wisdom. The guys, Buddy, and Bootsy lament the way that modern entertainment tries to shut out faith-based content. https://samaritanministries.org/unashamed — Get a biblical & affordable approach to health care https://getliverhelp.com/unashamed — Get a FREE bottle of Blood Sugar Formula to reduce sugar cravings when you try Liver Health Formula https://theblaze.com — Blaze News is now AD-FREE! In today's episode, we are bringing you a pretty special episode. Cameron sat down with David Powell at the 2023 Total Archery Challange at Seven Springs to talk about his once in a lifetime buck that he called Bootsie. This hermaphroditic deer stands out not only for its rare reproductive organs but also for its distinctive rack. David shares the details of his encounter with this extraordinary creature, shedding light on its unconventional behavior and characteristics. From Bootsy's powder wig-like headgear to his social outcast status among other deer, this captivating journey follows a davids years of observation before finally catching up with Bootsy. We discuss: Bootsy was identified as a buck with organs of both antlers and a doe The deer exhibited abnormal physical features, such as an underdeveloped neck and head Bootsie had an irregular rack that looked like a headdress and carried velvet way into the season Other deer avoided Bootsy, making it challenging to target him for hunting David hunted and observed the rare hermaphrodite deer in Kansas for six years The deer had a core area of only 75 to 80 acres, focusing solely on cover and disregarding food and water It took three years for David to realize that rut activity was not a way to target this deer The deer had bases 15" in circumference, not diameter with 21 total points The deer panel scored as a "freak of nature" and doesn't carry an official Boone and Crockett or Pope and Young score Understand the significance of this deer being classified as a "freak of nature" rather than receiving a formal scoring It is listed as 1 of 1 in the Boone and Corckett records under whitetail freak of nature And So Much More! Episode 69. Host Troy Saunders interviews his fellow Erasmus Hall High School alum, Hubert Eaves IV. Hubert is a multi-talented instrumentalist, composer, and producer, perhaps best known for his infectious pocket bass playing on Erykah Badu's live album. He's also recorded and worked with artists ranging from Will Downing, Alex Bugnon, Freddie Jackson, The O'Jays, Seal, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, D Train, Glenn Jones, Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam, and Snow.Hubert shares some history about his famous father Hubert Eaves III, keyboardist, songwriter and record producer, who played with D Train and Mtume and produced Miles Davis, Stephanie Mills, Madonna, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and Phyllis Hyman.Hear Hubert's story about being on tour with Freddie Jackson and meeting an imposter Bootsy Collins after one of the shows. The entire band swore it was the real Bootsy, but Hubert blew him off to everyone's shock. Shortly afterwards, they saw a news report about the fake Bootsy being arrested for writing bad checks. Years later, at a show with Erykah Badu, the real Bootsy was backstage and Hubert was able to meet him and share the story with his idol.Hubert talks about the creative process behind his amazing solo tracks, including “Radio,” “Incubated Funk,”, “Dot-D-Dah!” and “Let's Get Serious”. He also drops news about an unreleased single featuring Will Downing that he'll release “when the time is right”. Troy plays a few clips of Hubert's music and hopes everyone will check out the full songs and make them part of your playlists.Listen and subscribe to the BAAS Entertainment Podcast on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Podchaser, Spotify, Stitcher and TuneIn. “Hey, Alexa. David Libert is our guest. And he's got such a wild story to tell that he actually did write a book about it! His career in music began singing doo-wop with his friends just to be able to hang out and meet girls. But his band, The Happenings, were good. So David went to Tin Pan Alley to convince the industry. He and his partner, Bob Miranda eventually got jobs writing music for a label run by The Tokens of The Lion Sleeps Tonight fame. The took the job with the stipulation that The Tokens would help The Happenings with their music. Sometime after the band's biggest hit, See You In September, David saw the writing on the wall and left The Happenings (which he was managing) to manage other bands like Rare Earth. His success there led to him working with the legendary Shep Gordon and Alice Cooper. And what a baptism of fire that was! After feeling burnt out, David started his own agency which ended with David in prison. But it was OK, he started playing in the prison jazz trio. After prison, David had to start from the ground up again. But he did it, eventually working with George Clinton, Parliament/Funkadelic, Prince, and one of my personal favorites, Living Colour.Pick up his book through Amazon or his website rockandrollwarrior.com. When I first heard of Human Design, I thought it was just some woo woo trend that some lady named Star Fire was promoting. As it stands, its a very deep and insightful modality - which isn't surprising. Sometimes these things need a little demystifying. It's sometimes very easy to judge an idea based on the source. Not long after I had heard about HD I bumped into Jeana. She is someone who is well respected in Academia and did 'all the right things' regarding the rat race. She was working in therapy and discovered Human Design and became fascinated with it. Jeana's story is incredible, there are many aspects we could cover but I wanted to start with something that was useful and would be informative to the audience.I hope you'll enjoy this episode as we begin to break down and understand the concepts involved in Human Design. It's a very useful model to help ourselves understand ourselves. It's all about Temet Nosce, my friends.Jeana was kind enough to offer 20% off of any HD Readings to people who are subscribers to this channel with the coupon code 'BOOTSY' - you can also get a FREE chart from her website here: https://www.jeanalocke.com/I am excited to introduce Jeana to the community. She's an incredibly talented reader and healer and is doing incredible work that we don't even mention yet. We'll get there. Thanks for being a subscriber! Bootsy Collins is one of the world's preeminent practitioners of The Funk, although that might not be the case if he hadn't snuck his brother's guitar out of the closet when no one was around. Bootsy tells Marc about starting out with a homemade bass and graduating from the James Brown School of Hard Knocks as part of the Godfather of Soul's band. Bootsy explains how he came out of that experience and shaped his own identity in the Parliament Funkadelic Universe, thanks to the freedom provided by George Clinton, and how it all ties in to his new album, The Power of the One.
