This week on the show, Maine and Josh recap the 2024 IBJJF Crown.In the news that section of the show, we discussed Mikey Musumeci's exclusive contract with UFC Fight Pass.  In the recap section of the show, we break down every finals match from all of the divisions at the 2024 IBJJF Crown.We kick off the recap discussing Erich Munis vs Marcus "Scooby" Ribeiro for the Men's Ultra Heavyweight final.  We talk about the Sweden game from Munis and his willingness to except the bottom position, repeatedly, knowing that he would be able to get a sweep at the end.  We discussed his wrestling and how he was able to go from bottom position to top position using great hip movement, then we discussed his Ezekiel choke finish to win the Crown back to back years. In Gabi Pessanha vs Melissa Cueto for the Women's Super Heavyweight final we talk about Gabi's guard game and what kind of a player it will take to be able to beat it. IBJJF 2024 was a controversial championship! There was a disqualification of Tainan Dalpra against Francisco Lo which was to a questionable judgement with no bad intentions involved and the position technically not illegal but was deemed a heel hook attack. This left the Gi worlds crowd with a bad vibe. Has the rule structure started to really negatively impact the game.Could Heel Hooks save the Gi Game? In the third place match we discussed a return to form from Josh Hinger that saw him submit Taylor Pearman with a modified guillotine.  In the finals we saw Yuri Simões defeat Patrick Gaudio via a close decision. We also discussed the superfight between Lucas Barbosa and Gerard Labinski that saw Hulk set up a mounted armbar and finish, and Rafael Lovato defeating Adam Wardzinski ina very close match decided on 1 penalty.In the recap of the IBJJF GP we discussed both the middleweight and heavyweight GP.
