This week, a world premier crossover event… Grab some popcorn and join your hosts this week as we check out songs from flicks as interpreted by other artists. That's right, we are going to the movies and listening to the sounds of bands covering other bands' material! Two infamous recurring InObscuria series are colliding like peanut butter and chocolate to bring you a blissfully delicious treat. Grab your Reeses, large Coke, and some nachos, and hum along! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week is our very first major crossover event. One that provides yet another collection of lost and forgotten songs from the silver screen as covered by other artists! Our hope is that we turn you on to something new… or something that sounds like something new that actually may be old. It's complicated.Songs this week include:Leo - “Weird Science” from Leo Metal, Vol. 43 (2023)Corey Taylor - “On The Dark Side” from CMFB… Sides (2022)David Cook - “Don't You (Forget About Me)” from Don't You (Forget About Me) - Single (2011)Haunt - “Send Me An Angel” from Hell Tracks (2023)L.A. Our (seemingly endless) journey into Weezer continues this week with a particularly strange detour: THE TEAL ALBUM. A collection of random covers that were all chosen via a computer program that Rivers made? What could go wrong...
In this Weezer-tastic episode, we talk about all the great covers on The Teal Album, before diving into our review of their newest album, Ok Human. As always, here's a playlist to listen along with the episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2gYBk54zEmmLWnM2TsJHXf?si=9fedea4f39804a3d
Join Jeff as he discusses the recent Weezer cover album known as the Teal Album. 10 great cover songs. What song do you think #1 is? There's only one way to find out! Take a listen!
In this episode, our heroes cover Weezer's Teal Album--an all-covers offering that gives a lot of new fans something to get excited about, but might leave some Weezer fans looking for, well, just some new material. Their cover of Toto's "Africa" is a huge hit, but nothing else really caught on nationally. Beyond that, the boys compare each Weezer album to Star Wars films, and create the perfect opener and closer for their own covers album.

This week we're talking about Weezer's surprise cover album, the Teal Album. How listenable is it? Later we dive a little deeper into "Anna Sun" by Walk The Moon, and the band as a whole.
Recently Weezer released an album (referred to as the "Teal Album") of faithful covers. The project began as a fan-generated joke (the cover of Toto's "Africa") and developed into a full-fledged dive into uncritical nostalgia. Adam Ray Adkins (Dirt, Son of the Earth) joins the show today to talk about how Mark Fisher's classic Capitalist Realism helps us understand and critique this album. What is laudable about Weezer's project? How is Capitalist Realism related to postmodernism? What can we gain by comparing Weezer and Kurt Cobain? All this plus an announcement about this summer's planned SR hiatus.

Weezer scored their biggest hit in more than a decade with their cover of Toto’s “Africa.” Yet everyone was still taken aback when the band out of nowhere (and a few weeks prior to releasing a previously announced album of new songs) released a collection of covers in the form of their fifth self-titled record, aka the “Teal Album.” So what do Matt and Zach think of Weezer’s surprise covers album? Hear what we think in Epic Footnote Productions’ “2 Minutes to Review,” a podcast that’s part album review and part competition. In each episode, both hosts are given two minutes each to review a newly released album, a recent reissue, or a record they’re revisiting after years of going unlistened. Whoever gives the longest review in under two minutes wins.
