Two positions that have yet to be filled under the Biden administration are the USDA Under Secretary for Trade, and the U.S. Trade Representative Chief Ag Negotiator. Ted McKinney and Gregg Doud held those positions during the Trump administration. The duo provided some insight into future ag policy with farm broadcasters in Washington D.C. Doud is currently with Aimpoint Research. McKinney is the CEO of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture. The two talk about the appetite for ag trade during a period of high commodity prices and stress the importance of the U.S. being at the table during trade discussions. Former ag leaders under the Trump administration share insight with farm broadcasters on what's next for global trade. Ted McKinney is the former USDA Under Secretary for Trade. And Gregg Doud is the former chief ag negotiator under the U.S. Trade Representative. Both positions have yet to be filled by the Biden administration. Doud, now with Aimpoint Research, starts off the conversation by touching on potential trade partnerships in African countries such as Kenya. McKinney also sees opportunity in India. That was a country both he and Doud were working with during their time with USDA and USTR. McKinney says while providing food aid to foreign countries during a time of international unrest and high input costs can help with political stability and national security, it pales in comparison to trade.
