What's better than some good ol' Appalachian ghost stories?! To be more specific, I've got some ghost stories from my home state of West Virginia this week on the show.Check out Theresa's Haunted History of the Tri-State:https://theresashauntedhistoryofthetri-state.blogspot.com/Email us! indarkplacespod@hotmail.comFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/indarkplacespodcastYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdrL6rsNSKeBA31NcU3reXARumble:https://rumble.com/user/InDarkPlacesPatreon:https://www.patreon.com/indarkplacesThe ABCs Of Salvation:A. ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A SINNER. This is where that godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out.B. BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.C. CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.
In this episode of Bring the Pain, I reviewed my articles from the weekend as well as the Fight Club of Pain from Thursday. We had another monumental episode as we discussed fight theory and how it could lead to a few upsets. That's when Dan and I recommend hedging with a couple of bets that had odds over +2300. Now that's a bold pick, but that's nothing bolder than what we have been delivering in the Fight Club as well as the Five-tastic Picks. I also talk about all of my football shows changing since I'll be doing UFC coverage from now on. That means you'll have to listen to my podcasts to get all of my plays as opposed to last year, where I rolled both shows out within 24 hours. In the end, I reveal what sets us apart from other fight shows since Dan was a former boxer, and I'm currently one of the top point fighters in my age group, in the Tri-State area. After that, I finished up things by talking about the Battle of Pennsylvania karate tournament that my team and I went to this weekend. This episode is a little longer, but I had a lot to cover, so buckle up because I was jacked up for this one since it was my birthday when I recorded this. Have a great day, everyone, and may the fights be with you.Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. Part of being a weekly podcast and playing the role of media in a sport means that your own athletic goals need to be put more in the background (Jason Dupree doing live streams for The OCR Report, Brakken Krakker recording and producing The Running Public, Matt B Davis heading Hybrid Fitness Media, etc.). That being said, there are still a couple challenges left that Mike has been wanting to take on in the sport of OCR. One of them being wanting to try a Spartan Ultra Beast for the past 8 years, now just called the Spartan Ultra. Katelyn wanted to do an episode interviewing Mike about his first Spartan Ultra experience, he figured that it wouldn't be nearly as interesting as him doing pit by pit coverage of her first WTM which plan to be done in June. As you can tell from the title though, he/I had my first DNF though so maybe that would be worth talking about for a bit. We are also supplementing the episode with a reRun of our 17th episode which covered Alex taking on his first Spartan Ultra Beast at the same venue in NJ back in 2017 so it's a bit of a hybrid release! Start – 4:33 – Intro 4:33 – 11:25 – Quick News 11:25 – 9:10 – Content Preface 9:10 – 49:47 - Mike's DNF Interview 49:47 – 1:18:56 - reRUN of 17. Tri-State Spartan Ultra Beast and Tri-State Spartan Beast! 1:18:56 – End – Outro Next weekend we will either have an interview related to a book or we will reach out to an athlete to hear about their experience at many of the events happening around the world now that the OCR season is in full swing! ____ News Stories: Nikolaj Dam Got Married Des Linden's Final Competitive Marathon Lindsay and Ryan Atkins Pregnant Jessika Poppe's Dog Hildervat Podiums Spartan Tri-State New Jersey Beast Podiums Spartan Tri-State New Jersey Ultra Podiums Spartan Tri-State New Jersey Super Podiums Toughest Mudder Atlanta Podiums Savage Race Gainesville Podiums Sushi Chess Secret Link Considerate Camera Secret Link Good Friend Secret Link Low Score Secret Link Old Fall Secret Link ____ Related Episodes: 17. HOUR ONE: Just because the Ouija board is made by a board game manufacturer does not mean it should be treated like a toy – as many have discovered. *** The similar game, Charlie Charlie seems more innocent – but is so dangerous that in one school where children were playing it, they had to call in an exorcist. *** And you never know when playing any of these types of games what kind of spirit you might be inviting into our realm – but I can tell you this…. It's never good. They might pretend to be good, but that's far from the truth. And one particular demon has found notoriety through the Ouija board community, a demon you don't want to risk opening a door for. It's name is Zozo.==========HOUR TWO: Did lost cosmonauts make it into space before Yuri Gagarin? (The Tombs in Space) *** Don't take a gift from Gracie Watson's grave... or her life-like statue might cry tears of blood. (Gracie's Ghost) *** Did Bonnie Scott run away? Was she kidnapped? Murdered perhaps? All anyone knew was that no one had a clue where she was. She had simply disappeared without a trace. (The Murder of Bonnie Leigh Scott) *** A latchkey kid comes home to an empty house… or so they thought until they heard footsteps in another room. (The Laundry Room)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: People often encounter strange and frightening things when they experience sleep paralysis – but in one particular story, the horrors began well before going to bed. (Sleep Paralysis in Bangkok) *** Samuel Joselyn was buried in 1810 in a North Carolina cemetery. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Samuel was actually DEAD at the time of his burial! (Buried Alive in Wilmington) *** in 1894 Rosa Lochner was a witness to murder, but she had been deaf since birth and her spoken vocabulary was limited. So how could she testify against the accused? (Murder In Pantomime) *** A boy wakes to find his previously closed curtains now open – and the only explanation involves a previous resident of the house he's now living in. (Strange Manifestations) *** Mention the word “Chupacabra” and most people will think of a strange, hairless dog-like animal. They are never described as having the ability to fly… until now. (Winged Chupacabras) *** These UFOs aren't shiny metallic discs or cigar-shaped spaceships. They are humanoid – and they fly without the help of a jetpack, wings, cape or even a broom to sit on. And the sightings are still coming in all throughout Mexico. (The Flying Humanoids of Mexico) *** The North Carolina Cherokee have a story about how dangerous it can be even near a calm river – where the waters can suddenly foam and a giant beast can appear on the rocks. (James and the Giant Leech) *** Supernatural women, shadowy men, odd animal sightings, and more… they can all be found at late-night truck stops if you're not careful. New York City is the largest city in the United States, greater than the next largest (Los Angeles) by roughly 5 million people, it is also the 13th largest city in the world. The New York Metropolitan area or the Tri-State area (NJ, NY, CT) contain 7% of the U.S population and contribute 12% to the national GDP (gross domestic product). The region is home to millions of people and jobs, cultural and historic resources, environmental treasures, international ports, and so much more, all thriving off of the city's 24 hour + 7 day a week subway system. However, that system, including the actual mechanics and infrastructure (cables, switches, train cars, etc.), stations and platforms, and access points are all in need of improvement and modernization. In January 2025, the City of New York launched its congestion tolling or congestion pricing system to disincentivize driving in one of the world's most gridlocked areas - Midtown Manhattan and to finance the much needed capital repairs along the city's transit system. Join the host of the Four Degrees to the Streets Podcast in conversation with Tiffany-Ann Taylor, Vice President of Transportation for the Regional Plan Association, the region's oldest and premier urban planning research and advocacy organization dating back to 1922, as we discuss the impact of congestion pricing and the opportunities/challenges facing the New York Tri-State area for the years to come. Share theses insights from the episode: Congestion pricing revenue is forecasted to generate $1B annually and is designated for MTA capital improvements. New York City is the first city in the United States to implement a congestion pricing network, inspiring many North American cities including Toronto, Canada and Los Angeles, California to consider congestion tolling of their own. The New York City metropolitan area struggles with the compounding challenge of an old system, with many parts of the system 100+ years old, and the impacts of climate change that cause freezing, flooding, and overheating of various parts of the transit system. Note: This episode was recorded in November 2024 prior to the tolling starting in January 2025 and prior to President Trump proposed changes to the program. Rod Mullins, our NASCAR beat writer, joins “Street Knowledge” to review Christopher Bell's OT win in Atlanta, and to help get us ready for this weekend in Texas. The meat of the podcast this week is on the topic of TV ratings: for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and the Truck Series, with an eye toward what NASCAR will do in the next couple of years to address its TV rights. We wrap the show with news out of Southwest Virginia. Rod is also the editor of Dickenson Media, and we chatted about flooding in the Tri-State area, and the lack of action from the Trump administration on requests for disaster declarations in Virginia and West Virginia.

From covering celebrity culture to launching Power Women TV and now The Westport Show, Amy knows what it takes to pivot, evolve, and build something entirely new. This episode is for anyone thinking about a fresh start, a career pivot, or simply moving in a new direction in any chapter of your life. In This Episode:• How Amy and I went from covering pop culture to where we are now• The shift from chasing external validation to building a career that aligns with your values.• The wild, behind-the-scenes stories of early 2000s Hollywood—including a pre-fame Kim Kardashian and Bethenny Frankel.• The evolution of media and why reinvention is essential for staying relevant.• Why today's version of success is all about peace, confidence, and authenticity. (Bella in the Wych Elm) *** Jonathan Reed couldn't bear to be separated from his wife ... so he moved into her tomb. (Til Death Do Us Part) *** Dr. Milton Rokeach forced three men who all believed themselves to be the Messiah to live together for two years in an effort to bring them out of their irrationality. But what Rokeach learned had little to do with the men themselves. (The Three Christs of Ypsilanti) *** A bodiless voice torments a lone beachgoer camping out. (Spirit Voice on the Beach) *** Only months after the infamous ax murders in Villisca, Iowa - the quiet farm community of Payson, Illinois was shattered by its own terrifying murder case. (The Pfanschmidt Murders) *** In an effort to test one of his theories on social behavior, psychologist Muzafer Sherif released twenty-two 12-year-old boys into a sparsely supervised wilderness camp — and then covertly provoked them to fight each other. (Papua New Guinea Witchcraft) *** A man in Japan sees small, childlike ashen white aliens. (Childlike Aliens) *** How can a holy book such as the Christian bible bring bad luck? One paranormal museum in West Virginia has the answer with an infamous display of the 666 Bible. (The 666 Bible) *** The people of Hannibal, Missouri in the late 1800s would remain appalled that one of their most prominent residents could be murdered without retribution. Even a $10,000 reward couldn't bring justice. (The Stillwell Murder) *** A father takes his son to the ruins of an old, burned down building – and the boy sees something his father doesn't. (The Old Factory Visit) *** “The Devil's Advocate” - it's a phrase that can be traced to the Roman Catholic Church that long had an actual official office for a person who was employed to be exactly that – an advocate for the devil.
