We love bringing the best people in Baltimore together. There's been a magazine story on the wall at Koco's Pub for years that compares the Marcella Knight's jumbo crab cake to the smoked version from our friend Chef Nancy Longo of Pierpoint. So, Nestor brought them together in Lauraville on the Maryland Crab Cake Tour for foodie fun. We knew inviting our old journalist-turned-communications pro Greg Abel would involve a walk down "Free The Birds" memory lane but Nestor did not bring him to Koco's Pub on the Maryland Crab Cake Tour to talk about the past but instead to question the future of the Orioles brand and Baltimore sports media and marketing with a lifer chronicler and fan of Charm City glory. Today we are discussing Porter Peach Festival in Porter, Oklahoma. The Porter Peach Festival celebrates the area's legacy crop of peaches with a myriad of activities and events perfect for a summer day with the family. You can shop for fresh, juicy peaches, peach products and other produce at Livesay Orchards, located three miles south of Porter, then get your fill on tasty peach desserts at The Peach Barn, approximately seven miles east of Porter. On Porter's downtown Main Street you can shop at many arts and crafts vendors, enjoy street games, live music and taste a wide variety of fair food. Come out on Thursday for a talent show, while Friday's events include a culinary contest. On Saturday, there will be a peachy parade, free peaches and ice cream, and a prize peach auction. Porter, Oklahoma, established in 1903 along the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma Railroad, is a historic town between Muskogee and Tulsa, known for its rich agricultural heritage and vibrant community spirit. Named after Pleasant Porter, a Creek Nation chief born in nearby Clarksville, the town was incorporated in 1905 and thrived with farming, ranching, and coal mining. Its fertile lands between the Verdigris and Arkansas rivers attracted settlers, fostering a bustling early economy. Despite a devastating 1919 tornado that caused significant economic loss, Porter rebounded during World War II, with its WPA building (now Town Hall) serving as a subcamp for German and Italian POWs who worked on local farms. The town's agricultural legacy shines through its peach industry, sparked by Creek allottee Ben Marshall in the 1890s. His award-winning peaches at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition cemented Porter's reputation, leading to the annual Porter Peach Festival, a highlight since 1967. This festival, still celebrated today, draws visitors with its celebration of local peaches, including a notable moment when Porter peaches were presented to First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson at the White House. Porter offers a charming blend of history, culture, and agricultural pride, making it a unique stop for visitors seeking small-town Oklahoma charm. For more details, check local tourism resources or visit during the Peach Festival for a taste of Porter's legacy. Also discussed Livesay Orchards, The Peach Barn, KOCO, Moore Norman Technology Center, Broken Bow Travel Sisters, Luke's BBQ and Cafe 75 Special Thanks to our partner, Think Ability Inc. This week on A Pawdcast we continue the twisted journey leading us in to the House of Horrors. To anyone who was on this horrific ride with us you probably remember the moment when a now iconic video hit your Instagram feed… a video showing a rescuer crying in tears saying “She's holding our dogs hostage. Please help us”. For most, this is the very moment the entire world became aware of the existence of those precious souls who would soon be known as the #Chandler55 . The woman in the video is Koco Garcia. And the dog she was pleading to the world for help in getting back was Marbles. A sweet, blind pup who was rescued off a chain in Mississippi. In good faith and with the hopes of finding him a better life, Marbles was transferred to the Special Needs Animal Welfare League in Chandler, Arizona. Unbeknonst to Koco, and so many more well intentioned humans, the woman behind SNAWL was an animal abusing hoarder who preyed upon special needs dogs. Watch and listen as Koco starts from the beginning, giving the details about where Marble's came from, how he was rescued, and how April McLaughlin inserts herself into the picture. We learn why she begins to suspect something is not right, and how a phone call from a previous victim confirms her worst fear and blows her world wide open. We discuss that iconic video, how it purposefully came together, and how it's impact motivated a social media army to light a fire under law enforcement's ass to finally do something. Guys. In Marbles' honor Koco tells her story. Because it deserves to be told. Grateful to her for putting it here, because maybe, at some point, it will aid in the prevention of this atrocity happening to others. Let's go. #Chandler55

In September of 1987, two sisters headed to their local state fair in Oklahoma to commemorate the end of summer. But after they failed to meet their brother at the prearranged time and place, they were reported missing. When their bodies were discovered weeks later, a local's account would begin a lengthy battle to find justice for the girls. These are the murders of Lisa Pennington and Cheryl Genzer, also known as the Oklahoma State Fair Murders. Icons celebrate icons this week as the top 5 Titans bring their horror idols to life for the semifinal floorshow. To no one's surprise, Victoria takes us to Universal Studios but Hoso climbed out of that TV and under our skin. Koco serves Boulet Stepbrother, Evah's spaceship doesn't quite land and Astrud's hunt for a win this season leaves her neon Predator empty handed. While the Top 3 may have been no huge surprise, our bigger question is whether or not the other queens actually get to go on the tour. Want even more Alright Mary?
