In this episode, we dive into email communication. If writing emails feels daunting to you or if you’re trying to get a brand or person’s attention via email, this podcast episode is for you!Email Tip #1: State your purpose in your subject lineIf you’re a blogger or influencer trying to pitch a brand for a potential collaboration, state your purpose with a verb. Here are a few subject lines I’ve used in the past:· “Requesting a Brand Collaboration: Brand Name x Emma’s Edition”· “Instagram Collaboration Request: Brand Name x Emma’s Edition”Social media managers, marketing managers, and public relations agencies are running various campaigns at different times. You can help make their lives easier but stating why you’re reaching out in your subject line. Email Tip #2: Make your email readable Most people (including PR agencies and brands) skim their emails. Many people also read their emails on their phones. You have to make your email easy to read and easy to skim. Writing in long paragraphs doesn’t make your emails easy to read. Email Tip #3: Use bullet pointsBullet points are effective to sharing dates, options, and break down ideas. For example, if I’m trying to schedule a time to speak with a brand or PR agency, here’s what I would include in the email: “May you please let me know if this time/or date would work for a phone call?· Friday May 22nd at 2pm· Monday May 25th at 3:30pm· Tuesday May 26th at 4:00pm”Email Tip #4: Keep paragraphs shortIf you are using paragraphs in your emails, I’d recommend keeping those paragraphs 3-5 sentences. It helps to envision what 3-5 paragraphs looks like on your phone. If you send yourself a draft of the email, you’ll be able to see how long it looks on your phone. We share 4 more tips to help you with emails!Follow Emma on Instagram: @emmasedition | Pinterest: @emmaseditionFollow Maddy on Instagram: @madcrayy | Pinterest: @madcrayyFollow the Content Creatives Podcast: @contentcreativespodcastJoin the Content Creatives Podcast Facebook Group!

Today we are discussing the alarmingly high rate of black women who die from childbirth in the United States today. We are going to be diving into the concept of unlearning. I am honored to have Cachet Prescott on as my guest today. She is the host of the All Things (Un)learned podcast. Cachet explains what unlearning is and then we are going to discuss how everyday racism ties into the disparity of the rate in which black mothers are dying in childbirth, particularly compared to white mothers. The goal in the episode today is to understand how we can unlearn everyday racism, specifically when it comes to prenatal and postnatal care in the U.S. so that no more preventable childbirth related deaths ever happen again.“Black women are three to four times more likely to experience a pregnancy-related death than white women” National Partnership for Women and Families“African-American, Native American and Alaska Native women die of pregnancy-related causes at a rate about three times higher than those of white women, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Tuesday (May 7, 2019).” NY Times“Black women’s heightened risk of pregnancy-related death spans income and education levels” National Partnership for Women and FamiliesToday, we discuss:What is unlearning?Limiting beliefsWhat does everyday racism mean? This episode was recorded Tuesday May 26, 2020. On this day the video of George Floyd went viral. 24-48 before we recorded there was the "Central Park Karen" incident. We went on to break down the Joe Biden Breakfast Club interview. Roughly 80 mins into the conversation we discussed to the Washington Post video in which a number of black women spokespersons made an appeal to Joe Biden to select a black woman as his VP running mate. This led to a robust discussion on patriarchy vs matriarchy among the black American population... Be enlightened, be inspired, be empowered!

Every week this podcast will highlight some of the many voices behind the UCSC wildcat strike. Since December 2019, UCSC graduate students have been striking in pursuit of a cost of living adjustment, or COLA, to lift themselves out of rent burden and address, with urgency, issues of housing and food precarity. While our longer episodes in this series feature snippets of longer oral history interviews between myself and my fellow wildcat strikers, today’s episode is actually an urgent call to action. Today is Tuesday May 28th and our UAW 2865 ULP bargaining team will be meeting at 3PM Pacific Standard Time to debate whether or not to call a strike authorization vote for the spring quarter. If the vote for a ULP strike passes, UC TAs will be able to withhold spring quarter grades legally and full protection against retaliation. The UAW’s Proposal for settlement includes full reinstatement of fired wildcat strikers and a raise to bring all graduate student salaries to $40,000 a year. This is the leverage we need to bring the university to the table after over six months of struggle, leverage that is not usually available to workers during a crisis. As we saw so clearly from the strike at UCSC, only the withholding of our essential labor will begin to move UC administration. The UC will not pay us enough to live or ensure the security of our positions without action. Bargaining team members need to hear from you TODAY about what a ULP strike would mean to you. It is not too late to sign the ULP strike pledge, but once you have signed you should also email all bargaining team members, many of whom are supportive of the struggle for a COLA. Share this call to action with all your networks! Tag us on social media at @payusmoreucsc and let us know that you support a strike authorization vote! On the Tuesday May 26 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke and Brian Blessing started by talking NASCAR, as they recapped what we saw over the weekend in the Coca-Cola 600 and projected what we could see on Wednesday in the Alsco Uniforms 500. Adam and Brian gave their picks to win and also some betting tips on the matchups and other prop bets. They also touched quickly on Bristol with the Food City 500 this weekend. After that, the guys took a look at the NHL plan for a 24-team playoff, which has been agreed to by the league and the NHLPA. A lot of details still have to be hammered out, but odds are out on the proposed first-round matchups and Brian shared his favorite picks based on the current prices. Finally, the guys ended quickly with some horse racing tips and talk about races from this past weekend and some upcoming events.
This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Tuesday May 26th, 2020. Over the weekend, The Governor of Arkansas, said the state is experiencing a second peak. A “stay at home order” was never put in place, Governor Hutchinson felt it was unnecessary due to the state’s low population. According to The New York Times, Arkansas has 6 counties experiencing faster rates of growth. Lincoln County with 7,119 cases per 100,000 has a higher percentage of infection than New York City with 2,411 per 100,000. In the Northwest corner of the state, cases in Washington and Benton counties are doubling about every week. Testing has recently increased in both counties and a number of cases can be traced to meat packing plants. The U.S. is approaching 100,000 fatalities due to COVID-19, there are more than 1.6 million confirmed cases. The 10th COVID-19 potential vaccine will begin human trials this week, it was created by Maryland based Novavax. New York State will provide death benefits to all frontline workers who died during the pandemic including hospital and transit workers. The New York Stock Exchange will partially open its floor to traders today. Social distancing requirements are in effect. The NHL, will open practice facilities and begin training in June. The World Health Organization is warning of a second peak of the virus tied to flu season. They relayed that “all countries need to be ready to rapidly detect cases”. Over 200 COVID-19 cases were reported at a Guatemalan textile plant. The Washington Post relays that officials were warned in early May that symptomatic workers continued to report to work and the company was not taking steps to protect employees. Officials in Wuhan China tested 6.5 million residents in 9 days, they are over halfway to their goal of testing all of Wuhan’s 11 million residents to prevent a second wave of the virus. This week on "Off The Cuff," Justin, Megan, Jill, and Allie first tackle late breaking news from the Department of Education, as it pulled an about-face in an updated statement saying it would not enforce guidance that would limit federal emergency student grants to those eligible to receive Title IV aid because it lacks “the force and effect of law.” Still, ED reiterated that the emergency grants are not available to undocumented students, international students, or those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrives (DACA) program. The team also dives into last week's guidance from ED on distance education flexibility, R2T4, and campus-based aid. Allie and Megan discuss news that Congress sent a resolution to block implementation of the Trump administration's borrower defense regulation to President Donald Trump's desk, and Justin lays out the latest lawsuit facing ED over its Title IV restrictions for CARES Act grants. Plus — we want to answer more of your questions! Call 202-785-6954 and leave a message with your name, institution, and question regarding CARES Act guidance no later than 12:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday May 27 and we may answer it on our next episode. Happy Memorial Day!
