There is a word that comes up often in prayer that most of us find complicated: Surrender. For many of us it sounds like defeat, like giving up, like one more thing we have to do after already doing everything we could think of. But in this episode of The Angela Montano Hour: Prayer on the Air, Angela offers a different way of seeing it.Surrender, she suggests, is not resignation. It is the willingness to let the architecture of suffering dissolve, to release the conviction that our peace must wait until circumstances finally go the way we need them to go. And once we have surrendered into that mystery, something else becomes possible: asking. Not asking from lack or shame or the desperate hope that getting what we want will finally make us feel worthy. Asking from wholeness. From esteem. From the quiet audacity of believing that even me, even I, deserve more. This in-breath and out-breath of prayer, surrender and opening, is the heart of this week's conversation.Through deeply moving prayer requests, Angela shows us how the practice of surrender and opening can meet us exactly where we are, even in the places that feel most intractable.Sandra is navigating an extraordinary opportunity with her son, recognizing that true peace does not depend on another. What freedom there is in letting go of that need for another to be whom we 'think' we need them to be, and what a gift it is to take that pressure off of both mother and son.Kate's beloved horse Bonfire has withdrawn after a difficult training session, and together they discover that love is present even in the distance, even in the space that doesn't yet look the way Kate feels she needs it to be. Through prayer, we open to the deeper perfection unfolding.Chris brings something so many of us are carrying right now, the weight of watching cruelty unfold in the world, from war to trafficking, and the anguished question of where God is in any of it.Her response to Chris carries the heart of the whole episode: “Love can never be absent, but Love needs a witness.” Prayer, she reminds us, is how we become that witness. It is how we send love into the places where it appears most dormant, trusting that something is happening even when we cannot see it.In this episode:Releasing the dualistic mindset that keeps peace just out of reachAsking from a place of wholeness, not lackAllowing the architecture of suffering to dissolveThe Krishnamurti teaching on peace that changes everythingHow love is present even in distance, even in silenceBecoming a witness to love in the places where it appears most dormantAbout Prayer on the AirPrayer on the Air is a live weekly gathering where people from more than 75 countries come together to pray, reflect, and remember the presence of love at the center of all things. And just like that, he's gone. Hot on the heels of Lewandowski's arrival, Hugo Cuypers departs for CF Monterrey in a deal we were told came together fast. Where does that leave the Fire? What does it mean for the rest of their season? What does it mean for their transfer window? Joe Chatz joins John and Tim as they break it all down – while trying to avoid breaking down. Join the trio as they process it all and then give the least tactically-sophisticated preview of the Fire's upcoming game this Wednesday at the new Nu Stadium against Inter Miami.

Actor and gentleman, Jerry O'Connell joins Jay and Bob for the first time to clear up any miscommunications. Jay mentions the lengthy messages that he sent Jerry, and the topic soon turns to Corey Feldman. Because they have been close since "Stand By Me," Jerry gives some insight into Corey's thinking and makes a fantastic promise to the Bonfire. | Big Jay was so nervous before Jerry entered, that he needed coaching from Bobby on how to act like a human being. | Guess who sends Jerry another message when he leaves... When Julie joined us on our Heather Cox Richardson event this month, she shared how she's supporting immigrants by taking groups of friends to Spanish-speaking restaurants in her town. Heather was so excited about the idea, and Julie was such a ray of sunshine, that we knew we needed to bring her on the podcast!Julie's a Spanish teacher in Omaha, Nebraska, but she doesn't stop at teaching the language. She shares cultural information about the many Spanish-speaking immigrants in their community and, of course, their delicious food. Food brings us together! The more we can understand and empathize with our immigrant neighbors, the better we can protect them from ICE.It's been a particularly heartbreaking week as two fathers -- one in Houston and one in Maine -- have been murdered by ICE agents. Resistance to their inhumane methods can take many forms, from protesting detention centers to vigils to legal support. Going out to dinner may feel like an impossibly small way to oppose ICE, but for the immigrant restaurant owners in our communities, it makes a huge difference. We can't only fight against what we don't support; we also have to fight for the better world we want. By patronizing immigrant-owned restaurants in our own towns, we contribute not just our dollars but our emotional support. And as a bonus, it tastes pretty good too.If you want to learn more about Julie and her chat shows and restaurant outings, you can visit her website at spanishchatshow.com. Lewy is here! In Chicago! We have photographic proof! John and Tim are joined by special guest Andrew Claussen from Backheeled. The duo pick Andrew's tactical brain as they talk about hopes — and fears — for the Fire's biggest signing in history ahead of his all-but-certain debut on Thursday, along with what made Spain so good at strangling France's potent attack in a World Cup semifinal.Oh — and a game on Thursday! Andrew gets John and Tim to join in a chorus of saying complimenting Vancouver — and Andrew, unbidden, sneaks in a complement to the Fire in doing so. They talk about why this feels like a must-win even though with both teams at or near the top of their conferences, it isn't.
Dave Landau back in-studio, Mitch McConnell rehab pic verified, WATP Karl with Big Jay v. Corey Feldman & Tom Segura's separation, Lindsey Graham's alleged boy toy speaks, Katie Porter's mean Yelp reviews, and Hunter Biden's comeback. Dave Landau joins us in-studio. Check out his tour dates here. Remember to join us with Dave and Karl Hamburger on October 2nd for the live WATP show at Rock & Brews in Royal Oak. The MLB Home Run Derby was on Netflix and Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals won it all over home favorite Kyle Schwarber. Will Ferrell rubbed some fans the wrong way on the broadcast. Chris Kattan is looking a bit small these days. TV: Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed on AppleTV+ has hooked Marc and peaked Drew's interest. Any cam boys out there? Dave is trying to get through Cape Fear. Drew is invested in Whatever It Takes: Inside the eBay Scandal. California politician, Katie Porter, is quite the critic on Yelp. Local Mall Shootings: Footage of the Great Lakes Crossing shooting looks somewhat like self-defense. A shooting at Fairlane Mall reminds us that Fairlane Mall is still open. Hip Hop: They're going to get to the bottom of that late Jay Z show in New York. Kanye West and Shane Gillis are homeboys. Chris Brown is back to it following a judgement. We remember the best of R. Kelly. Some people are saying every celebrity that has contact with trainer Harley Pasternak ends up going off the deep end. Captain Sully Sullenberger has Alzheimer's disease. Politics: Mitch McConnell's proof of life photo is confirmed as real. Darline Graham is a total nepo-sister. She takes over for the very heterosexual Lindsey Graham. Self-proclaimed twink, Jesse James Rose, calls out Lindsey for funding him for sexual favors. Our website is a bitch from time to time. Sorry about that. Nolan Wells: Al Sharpton will speak at the teen's funeral. Tyler Perry will pay for the funeral. Colin Kaepernick is paying for an independent autopsy. The GoFundMe continues to grow. Amy Lynn Bradley totally fell off that cruise ship. Karl from WATP stops by to cover the fired crew at The Howard Stern Show, The Bonfire goes full-circle with Jerry O'Connell while extending an olive branch to Corey Feldman, cover the sad split of YMH's Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky and more. Oh, and Woke Dad makes an appearance. Shoutout to Graham Platner for making the phrase 'stealthing' commonplace. Anthony Cumia was railing testosterone during COVID. On the night of 9th November 1996, Alana Cecil, who had only recently turned 16, was excited to attend the Djerriwarrh Bonfire Festival in the small city of Melton, just out of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. When she left home that night it would be the last time her family would ever see her alive. Sometime in the early hours of November 10th 1996, someone or some people took a syringe and injected Alana Cecil twice, once in each arm, with a lethal dose of Heroin. They then dumped her body in the back driveway of a vacant home.Eight years later a DNA breakthrough identified the semen of two men on and in Alana's body. One being a 49 year old man known to Police, who when questioned by Police simply answered 'No Comment'. Neither these men, nor anyone else has ever been held accountable or responsible for Alana's death. And neither man has been able to offer a valid reason their DNA was present. For 28 years Alana's family have fought for answers, and justice for Alana. A 56-year-old man was remanded in custody today charged in connection with the bonfire. He appeared before Dungannon magistrates court in Co. Tyrone this morning. Our Northern Correspondent Conor Macauley was at the court.
A loyalist bonfire in Moygashel, Co. Tyrone has sparked outrage after a mock-up mosque was placed on top with the slogan “secure our borders, end the threat of radical Islam” — and it was set alight early when police moved to remove it.Adrian and Jeremy ask: is this pure sectarian, hate-filled carry on… or “just a bonfire” making a political point? One gay listener says he struggles to feel sympathy because of Islam's attitude to LGBTQ people, while others rip into the hypocrisy of “patriots” down south cheering on the same loyalists who burn tricolours, the Pope and the Virgin Mary.
Moygashel bonfire was lit last night.
In Tyrone, a replica of a mosque on top of a bonfire is being treated as a "hate-motivated criminal offence", police have said. A 56-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of displaying threatening, abusive or insulting material which is intended to stir up hatred. For more on this Jonathan spoke to Colm Gildernew MLA, Sinn Féin, Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
You would have seen over the past few days that a bonfire erected in the village of Moygashel made headlines after an effigy on a mosque was placed on it. This follows previous bonfires in Moygashel including effigies of a boat full of refugees, and another with a picture of then-Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. The PSNI have arrested a man, and are treating the incident as a hate-motivated offense.Joining Shane to discuss it further is Jamie Bryson, Editor of the Unionist Voice, who spoke at a rally in Moygashel.

Summer has begun, and once again, controversies continue to surround bonfire season. A man has been arrested over the erection of a replica of a mosque on top of a bonfire in Moygashel with a loyalist source in the area warning that any attempt to move in on the bonfire will result in a ‘stand-off'. Paramilitary flags remain flying on streets and other bonfires across Northern Ireland just weeks after the PSNI were legally given powers to remove them, including banners in Antrim and Dungannon eulogising Loyalist Terror Chief Billy Wright. Special guest Tom Bogert — now an official friend of the pod — joins John and Tim as Robert Lewandowski's move to the Chicago Fire moves frum rumor to official. Tom and Tim talk about what they know — with a deal all but confirmed but no ink on paper as of the time of recording. The trio then discuss what Lewandowski's signing would mean for the Fire, both on and off the pitch: What does Lewy's arrival mean for Hugo Cuypers, the Fire's Golden Boot-leading striker? Will two prove to be a dynamic duo, or will Hugo find himself in a new uniform before the end of the season? Tom then talks about his reporting with Paul Tenorio about the Fire's continued pursuit of German midfielder Leon Goretzka, confirmed to be moving on from Bayern and currently with the German National Team as they seek to advance in the World Cup.Speaking of — for the first time ever, two Chicago Fire players met on opposing sides of a World Cup match, as Joel Waterman's CanMNT teammates arranged for the World Cup exit for Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Bafana Bafana.

Liam is a good friend of the Bonfire and SiriusXM Talent Department big-shot. He comes in studio to address the promises Yungblud made when he was there months ago. Mr. Blud offered to party with the guys, have tea with Bobby, and invited the whole crew to his NYC show. Jay dictates what Liam should write to the label and management to ensure Yungblud comes through on all of it. | Bobby goes camping in upstate NY and nothing works out the way he planned. In less than 24 hours of roughing it, Bobby runs out of food, water, and injures himself. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more! Jacob educates the guys with an intriguing story about the Titanic and its sister ships. Jay and Bobby turn his story into a search for love. It is Bonfire lore that poor Jacob always finds himself without romance. Jay imagines that he can find the perfect woman who has the same interests as Jacob, such as nautical wrecks. Bobby tries to find him a professional escort to take on a Brazilian adventure, where they will realize their destiny. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more! Patriotic Bob loves Memorial Day so much that he researched who first created it. | At Bobby's gig in New Orleans he was greeted by busty fans and a rat that ran across the stage. | Kevin Hart defends his roast by taking both sides. Crack Amico continues to produce brilliant music and his track is all about Chelsea Handler and her hypocrisy. D.L. Hughley's producer is really good at A.I. images and the Bonfire crew is not. So Jay verbally makes his A.I. prompts with no visual. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more!
