This week our host Ian Truscott joins Jeff Clark our resident Rockstar CMO Strategy Advisor and former Forrester Research Director, in the marketing studio where Jeff shares a model for measuring your brand, with some practical ideas. Ian then goes backstage with Mark Ordover, Chief Operating Officer at Evergreen Trading, a media investment firm that is powered by trade. Ian learns about how media trading works, as brands can trade real estate, aeroplanes, inventory and all sorts of assets for media, and Mark breaks down their model and provides insight into this fascinating part of the advertising business, running a 100% employee-owned company and gives us a COO's view of marketing. We then wind down the week with a cocktail in the Rockstar CMO virtual bar, where Robert Rose, Chief Troublemaker at The Content Advisory shares a cocktail and has some excellent advice for using ChatGPT in your content marketing strategy. The 5 Cs of History: Context, Episode #3 of 4. There are few individuals in American history with as divided a legacy as Margaret Sanger. For many, she was a pioneer of women's health, an important birth control activist, and founder of Planned Parenthood. For others, Sanger represents the immorality of feminism and insidious evil of reproductive choice. Yet others see Sanger as a eugenicist orchestrating a genocide against the Black American population. Radical, unconventional, and outspoken, Sanger is an endlessly useful character for modern day political ends. Which is it? Was Margaret Sanger good or evil? If we slow down, think like historians, and examine Sanger's beliefs and actions within their historical context, we can get a bit closer to the reality. John Ordover is a man of many talents. A creative consultant, a writer, an editor, and a stand-up comic. He's even appeared as an extra in some of my favorite television shows. John also advocates for the autistic community as the father of an autistic young adult and the partner of an autistic wife. I first met John virtually while he was finishing his book Lie There and Lose Weight: How I Lost 100 Pounds by Doing Next to Nothing. I came to know John as a proud parent who celebrates his son's accomplishments instead of mourning his son's autism. As an autistic parent, I appreciate the positive attitude John brings to our community. John also happens to be the co-creator of the book series Star Trek: New Frontier. My wife and I enjoy Star Trek, so I hope to slip in a bit of Trek talk during this episode. SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2021, AT 7:45 PM CDT – 9:30 PM CDT FULLY IMMUNIZED LIVE ORDOVER! Batten the hatches and hold fast this week as we try to survive "Starship Down"!New York Times bestselling author David Mack returns to the show to discuss one of two DS9 episodes he co-wrote with writing partner John J. Ordover. The Defiant is attacked by Jem'Hadar warships while on a trade mission and is critically disabled. Now, Chief O'Brien and a crew of enlisted men must keep the ship afloat in the atmosphere of a deadly gas giant . . . all while Sisko lies close to death, Bashir and Dax are trapped below decks, Quark and Farmer Hoggett have to disarm a torpedo, and the Jem'Hadar are still out there! In the TNG/DS9/VOY days of Trek, many freelancers and young writers tried selling scripts to Paramount and they made them attractive by presenting brisk, money-saving "bottle show" concepts. This is NOT one of those scripts. Starship Down starts with a bang and continues with a series of bangs, exposing the crew to mortal peril and forcing our heroes to confront their inadequacies in order to save the day. During our discussion, we talk about the process of writing for Trek and for the small screen, how Dave met John and how they honed their process, the episode's roots in "Das Boot", creating enlisted character and following them into the Pocket novels, giving Sisko a "Kirk" moment, teaching Worf how to lead, doing it all over again only bloodier in "Wildfire", and how Dave got the nickname "The Angel of Death!"Dave also shares some anecdotes about his time working on Trek TV, the benefit of lunch networking, burning your old drafts, wanting liquid metal but getting gas, writing Tyler in and out, working in Jesus's carpentry shop, Disco season 2 running Mack's Greatest Hits, whether Star Trek: Picard will torpedo the Trek lit universe, what it takes to defeat Section 31, and the lost "Cheers" Quark episode!Murder, blackmail, war crimes . . . fun!Pre-order David's new TNG novel, Collateral Damage, available October 8th!https://amzn.to/2LEGGaSTalk about shift changes with us on Facebook and Twitter and our Facebook group!http://www.facebook.com/eistpodhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/eistpod/http://www.twitter.com/eistpodBuy us dud torpedoes on Patreon!http://www.patreon.com/eistpodSubscribe to the show on iTunes!https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/enterprising-individuals/id1113165661?mt=2

Or the Madame Defarge series of literary-inspired knitting books? In any event, Heather is coming to London next month, and we are really looking forward to hosting her for her talk on Cognitive Anchoring, or why knitting in boring meetings actually helps your brain work better. Some links to things we mention: Cast-On and Greek Muses (Season 2): the origins of Craftlit. Knitting on a treadmill? Knitting in the New Zealand Parliament Telenovelas (for those of you unfamiliar with the concept) Richard Feynman (because who doesn't reference theoretical physicists in a knitting/crafty podcast?),  the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster and the Rogers Commission Knitted hexaflexagons and the Mexaflexagon Don't miss out on this very special event! Tickets are available on the event page, and we look forward to seeing you (and your knitting, crocheting, spinning, etc) on Sunday, 18th October!

Today's Guest is Tom Ordover a video proffessional of TEO Creative. "Tom Ordover is President of TEO Creative. Prior to starting the company, Tom was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of CrossMedia, a division of Golin/Harris International providing integrated communications solutions on a project basis to Golin / Harris clients; as well as its own, independently generated clientele. Tom joined CrossMedia in 1998 after seven years in broadcast journalism — with stints at Fox Sports Chicago, and CNN in Atlanta. He was twice honored with Emmy Awards for his work as a Producer and Executive Producer." Key Takeaways You can't ignore what's happening in your industry. You must keep up with what is going on. Developing a team of independent contractors gives you flexibility in the the work that you do. You must clarify with the customer what exactly it is that they want.  Every platform needs content. Make sure to continue updating and maintaining your content to draw and hold attention from viewers and potential clients. You need to learn that it is okay to say no sometimes. Mack, Part 1: Trek. David Mack has written close to 30 Star Trek novels and stories over the course of his career. But before all of that, Mack had a hand in writing two Deep Space Nine adventures for the small screen. Along with his writing partner John J. Ordover, Mack wrote the fourth season episode, "Starship Down," and wrote the story upon which Ronald D. Moore's teleplay for season seven's "It's Only a Paper Moon" was based. In this episode of Commentary: Trek Stars , Mike and Max are joined by Matt of The Delta Quadrant and The Nerd Party to look at Mack's television work. We discuss "Starship Down," "It's Only a Paper Moon," and the original concept for that episode, "Everybody Goes to Quark's." We also preview Mack's original novel The Calling, which we will cover next week. Hosts Mike Schindler and Max Hegel   Editor and Producer Mike Schindler   Associate Producers Become one! Literary Treks: A Star Trek Books and Comics Podcast

Divided We Fall. The idea of a crossover between different Star Trek series is something that appeals to many fans. But to make it work it has to feel natural, and that's just what John D. Ordover and David Mack did in their 2001 comic crossover series Divided We Fall. In this episode of Literary Treks hosts Christopher Jones and Matthew Rushing take an in-depth look at the four-part series from Wildstorm that combines characters from TNG and DS9 to tell the story of a Trill coup d'état. In our news segment we look at new cover art for James Swallow's The Stuff of Dreams, find out about a far more economical hardcover printing of Federation: The First 150 Years, check in on the release of Tony Daniel's Devil's Bargain, and find out what IDW has in store for us come May. We also dive into a lengthy discussion of HIVE #4, the conclusion to Brannon Braga's Borg comic.

Gwen Steege's new book—you can join “The Knitter’s Life List” on Ravelry or the page, and of course   The husband’s new novel and his : Andrew Ordover's novel is an entertaining introduction to a fresh new detective. Jordan Greenblatt, a Long Island transplant to Atlanta, has a smart and funny Southern wife, a group of jazz musicians for whom he plays bass, and, oh yeah, a one-man PI firm specializing in routine investigations: philanderers, insurance cheats, and other run-of-the mill cases. He also has some personal baggage that will soon be unpacked. Although he enjoys his self-described "slacker lifestyle," he is a bit bored and when a New York businessman asks him to investigate the three-year old hit and run death of his daughter, a woman whom Jordan knew as a teenager, he takes the case. Jordan's main gift as an investigator seems to be his impulsivity, and with his initial lack of either foresight or self-defense skills he manages to ruffle a lot of local feathers in what eventually becomes a very personal quest for justice. Ordover's gifts as a writer include a terrific ear for dialog, excellent pacing, and a sense of humor that is neither cynical nor snarky. He's given us an intriguing supporting cast as well, and I like his taste in classic jazz. After reading the last page I was delighted to see a teaser for a second book in the series. Although fans of feline detectives may be disappointed, I was charmed that the only four-legged cat in the book is Jordan and Susannah's pet cat, Eliot, who has a walk-on part in one scene and who appears to have absolutely no super-spidey-powers of detection.   Our GORGEOUS incentive for September/October 2011 from Marceli Botticelli's Tea Times Creations! Possible etymologies for nosferatu: A leading alternative is that the term originally came from the "nosophoros" (*νοσοφόρος), meaning disease-bearing. The nominative masculine definite form of a Romanian in the to which both words belong takes the ending "-ul" or even the shortened "u", cause in Romanian "l" is usually lost in the process of speaking, so the definite forms necuratu, nesuferitu and "nefârtatu" are commonly encountered (translatable as "the unclean", "the insufferable one", respectively "the ").
