*DE-TROIT BASKET-BALL VOICE*TY-LER SNOD-GRASS!Gem of the Ozarks, Tyler is a super funny, multi-talented, comedian I've known for years. It was great to sit down and learn more about his experience. I want to be his friend if we're being honest! Tyler co-created one of my favorite live shows, We Still Like You, a storytelling show where comedians straight up embarrass themselves. It's beautiful. Check out his website for dates if you're in NYC!Follow Tyler on twitter here: @TylerSnod and on insta here: @Tyler_SnodLeave a review on apple podcasts if you are in fact nasty, but, it would mean so much more if you were to call (631) 623-0248 and leave a voicemail! Rodescu also produces a very popular storytelling show called “We Still Like You” and runs Chicago’s most popular open Mic “ Trigger Warning”. Follow Rodescu @RodescuHopkins on all social medias. The First Time is CHIRP Radio’s Live Lit and Music series. It pairs a reader’s personal story about a specific "first time" -- a different "first" for each show -- with a song performance. This unique structure allows the story to resonate with audience members as they experience the accompanying song covered by The First Time Four. The band takes special care to perform unexpected song arrangements, so it is hard to tell which the audience enjoys more: the story or the song. The First Time is produced and directed by Julie Mueller with Assistant Producer Bobby Evers and Host Jenn Sodini. Podcast recorded and produced by Jenn Rourke. Engineering by Tony Baker.

Our True Crime month of Mayhem rolls on.Today it's the 2009 film Cropsey by Joshua Zeman and Barbara Brancaccio and our guest is Andy Sell.Staten Island’s tight knit community was the site of a series of child disappearances throughout the 70s and 80s. The police found one suspect, but could this one man account for the bogeyman legend of Cropsey? Was he working alone, or was he the wrong man altogether? Cropsey is like a horror movie come to terrifying life.Andy Sell is a comedian, actor, and writer who has been obsessed with horror movies since he started watching them at an arguably inappropriate age. Born in Iowa, Andy graduated film school from a college in New Mexico that no longer exists and currently resides in the Los Angeles area where he co-produces the monthly storytelling show, We Still Like You. Andy has performed at comedy shows and festivals across the country. He has no representation but still managed to co-write and co-star in a Comedy Central snapchat series called Nostalgia-rama in 2016, and act in a principle role in the neo-noir feature film, Los Angeles Overnight (now available on Amazon). Andy worked for Ray Bradbury's Pandemonium Theatre Company, has officiated four weddings, mains Junkrat on Overwatch (but will fill as healer), loves cats, and is candid about mental health onstage. He is followed on Twitter by some pretty cool well-known people despite not being verified, but doesn't want to drop names (but like, you would totally be jealous). If you want to hear Andy (and producer and co-host Adam Tod Brown) talk about horror movie history, check out the podcast Ghoul School when it hits the Unpops network and the usual podcast places. Did the part about not having representation come off as bitter or just desperate? What about the Twitter thing, that was too much, right? Either way, he wants an agent. In Episode 15 Kristin Ryan discusses The Babadook with Chicago comic Danii Gallegos. Danii is a producer of Black Brown and Fucking Exhaused, a new variety show that debuts in Chicago this month that will specifically highlight performances from people of color. She is also a producer of a Chicago classic storytelling show We Still Like You in which storytellers are encouraged to share their most shameful moments and then are rewarded with booze. Through The Babadook we discussed the expectations of motherhood, making time for self care, and how truly annoying Sam would be to have as your own child. Enjoy! Episode 105: When The Narrators first started in Denver over six and a half years ago, storytelling shows were few and far between. There were poets and memoirists sharing true stories at open mics, and the oral traditionalists have always been around, at historical gatherings or elementary school assemblies, but personal narrative just wasn't a common thing. Today, Denver—along with many other cities in America—is exploding with new storytelling shows and projects. Established shows in Denver like us and Stories Stories Bring Us Your Stories, My Teenage Angst, Truth Be Told in Boulder and The Moth Story Slam in Englewood are still going strong, and there are so many new shows and events and podcasts and projects popping up that it's tough to keep up—there's The Raconteurs, This is My Brave, Misunderstood, We Still Like You, and we know of at least two more that will launch in the next 12 months. Here's the best part—there's more than enough room for all of us. Even though we're all ostensibly doing the same thing—sharing true personal narratives—each show has its own flavor and theme and feel, it's own attraction for both the performer and audience. All of us at The Narrators are excited about this, because it offers folks more places to share their stories and find their voice, and because it confirms what we've believed all along: people are longing for opportunities to build empathy, to listen and to connect. So, today, we're doing something a little different. We're going to share a story from one of those newer storytelling projects in town. It's called Unknown Caller. It's a podcast that collects stories anonymously via voicemail—no standing behind a microphone, no spotlights, no crowd of strangers—you just call in to their hotline and start talking. Unknown Caller is the brainchild of Cory Byrom, a storytelling alum of The Narrators, Risk!, and The Iceberg in Atlanta. The podcast has published 13 episodes so far and they're all worth a listen. You can subscribe to Unknown Caller on iTunes or SoundCloud, and find them on Facebook or Twitter (@1UnknownCaller). Let them know we sent you! This story was originally published by Unknown Caller podcast on May 2nd 2016. This episode was recorded live at Bird City Comedy Festival in Phoenix. Jeremy, Kenny, and Kris were on the panel. We had amazing comedians from all over as storytellers. The theme was Dating, but all the stories were about random hookups with strangers. First up was Tyler Snodgrass with a story about an intimate moment on an airplane. Tyler Snodgrass is a comedian living in Chicago. He produces the shame-based storytelling comedy show, We Still Like You, writes for The Whiskey Journal, and performs all over the country. He has a good heart and an OK face. Next, Sofiya Alexandra told a story about losing her virginity to a guy with a mohawk. Somehow that wasn't his worst trait. Sofiya Alexandra grew up in Odessa, Ukraine, and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 11. She performs standup at venues all over LA, including The Comedy Store, UCB, The Improv, and throughout the alt comedy scene. She was named one of The Fifty Funniest Women on Twitter by Playboy and one of 18 Funny Women You Should Be Following on Twitter by Huffington Post. She currently writes on Amazon's Danger & Eggs. After that, Matt Storrs told a story about someone freaking out in a very odd and ominous way. Matt Storrs is a humor person living in Phoenix. He hosts The Storrs Objection and is the fact-checker for Phoenix Educational Programming's PEP Rally. Lastly, Jonathan Gregory tried to molest Jeremy onstage. Eventually he told a story and it was so goddamn funny. Jonathan Gregory's unique one of a kind "creepy" comedy has audiences howling wherever he goes . A cross between Steven Wright and Sam Kinison, Jonathan has over 8 million hits on YouTube; and his television credits include Showtime Boxing, NBC's Last Comic Standing season 6, and E! Network's True Hollywood Stories Investigates Hazing.
