RUNDOWN Mitch shares a quick story about Sylvester Stallone's Rocky turtles still being alive (yes, really), before he and Hotshot Scott spiral into a trivia-packed detour on Pine Bluff, Arkansas' unlikely sports legacy. There's also a throwback story about a terrified 22-year-old Mitch interviewing George Foreman after the 1990 Cooney fight—complete with awkward silence, locker room urine tests, and a mic-shaking case of nerves. Brady Henderson joins to break down the Seahawks' offseason strategy—why Will Fries slipped away, how the Geno and DK trades were influenced by locker room concerns, and what to expect from Seattle's 10 draft picks, including five in the top 92. With wide receiver and O-line needs still looming, is this a reload or a rebuild? Then it's the Mariners No-Table with Brady Farkas and Joe Doyle, the trio breaks down Opening Day storylines: Logan Gilbert's pressure as the new No. 1, Emerson Hancock stepping in for George Kirby, Rowdy Tellez's boom-or-bust upside, and whether Seattle's quietly dangerous roster can win a suddenly winnable AL West. Jason Hamilton rounds out the show with thoughts on the Big Ten's brutal travel, the evolution of fan energy, and what's next for Danny Sprinkle at UW. Plus: standout March Madness moments, why Florida might be the most complete team left, and how NIL and college hoops free agency may be pushing the game toward a cliff. It's the start of the new league year for the NFL and that means free agency is officially underway. Although it feels like the Seahawks completely whiffed in losing Will Fries to the Minnesota Vikings, Josh Jones offers a potential upgrade over George Fant and Stone Forsythe - a new member of the Giants. A couple different options remain, but there are some questions surrounding the toughness and scheme fit of those two players. The Seahawks defense got a boost with the signing of DeMarcus Lawrence. His contract numbers look steep initially, but once we see the breakout by year it's likely this is going to be a team friendly deal. Marquez Valdes-Scantling joins the Seahawks wide receiver room. We discuss how he'll help to fill the void left behind by DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Support the show Get in the Flock! The Seahawks added a couple pieces on Wednesday and both raised some eyebrows. No, MVS is not coming in to replace DK Metcalf; he's coming in to add some depth and has experience with Klint Kubiak, that's all. Demarcus Lawrence got quite a reaction from Seahawks fans- he's 33 and coming off an injury and reactions were mixed on the pickup. :30- Despite the frenzy of activity over the past week, the story still remains the same for the Seahawks- what about the O Line? It seems like the John Schneider and the Hawks were in on Will Fries, but is there anyone else they're looking at? :45- Greg Cosell made his weekly visit with Ian Furness yesterday and we revisit a portion of the conversation about our new QB Sam Darnold.

The second day of Free Agency sees the Seahawks secure at the quarterback position, but looking and needing some bigtime help on the offensive line with options starting to dwindle off the board. - Is the Seahawks Offensive line philosophy bordering on negligence? - The Seahawks made an offer to Will Fries, but apparently weren't willing to offer 5 years and that's the only attempt we've heard about from John Schneider to shore up O line issues. - Did Scheider already revert back to his old ways and could his job be on this line? :30- The 49ers have blown up their roster, sending notable names out of town in order to pay Brock Purdy and we are here for the rebuild. :45- Tiger Woods just underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles; could this be the injury that ends his career? Should he retire?

It's Day 2 of Tampering! Day 1 was madness in the NFL, can Day 2 live up to the hype? The Seahawks came away from Day 1 with Sam Darnold as their new QB, a move we are happy with. It saves the Hawks money over what they offered Geno (and he rejected), plus Darnold is younger and we hope he's better. Darnold struggled a bit towards the end of the season and has only had one good season in the NFL- which one was the anomaly? :30- It's Day 2 of Tamperfest and the Seahawks need to address some key O-line issues, but it won't be easy… especially since Will Fries just signed with the Vikings and we aren't sure that Schneider has even woken up yet! Is John Schneider going to change his philosophy and step up to pay free agents? We sure hope so! :45- Ron Francis joined us yesterday to talk about the moves the Kraken made ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. The team has a lot of draft picks, but no, they aren't planning on using them all in the draft!
The Vikings (along with the 31 other NFL teams) launched headlong into the legal tampering portion of free agency and boy did they tamper. When it looked like the Vikings were going to sit out Day 1 on the sidelines, suddenly things started cracking the morning of Day 2. Their biggest Day 1 headlines were the loss of quarterback Sam Darnold to Seattle and the resigning of running back Aaron Jones—but Day 2 in the morning resulted in the signings of DT Jonathan Allen, Colts guard Will Fries and Niners DT Javon Hargrave.

Send us a textThe New York Giants offseason is heating up with major rumors and key moves shaping the team's future. Reports indicate that the Los Angeles Rams have granted Matthew Stafford permission to speak with other teams, and the Giants are among those showing interest. With Stafford's contract situation in flux, a trade isn't out of the question. Jordan Raanan revealed that New York previously inquired about Stafford's availability at last year's trade deadline, and if the Rams can't find a financial compromise, the possibility of Stafford in a Giants uniform could become real. Meanwhile, speculation around Kyler Murray's future in Arizona suggests the Cardinals might look to move on from their former first overall pick. If they decide to sell high, the Giants could be a potential landing spot as they continue evaluating their quarterback options. On the coaching front, the Giants have hired former NFL running back Ladell Betts as their new running backs coach. Betts has been coaching at Iowa since 2021, where he helped develop standout Kaleb Johnson into an All-American. His connection to the Ferentz coaching tree adds another layer to Brian Daboll's growing staff. The Giants hope Betts can elevate the team's backfield, which could be in flux depending on offseason moves. In other Giants news, Plaxico Burress' Super Bowl ring was recently sold for a staggering $280,000, making it the second-highest price ever paid for a Super Bowl ring. Certification from Burress himself indicates that he sold the ring last November. The high price tag shows just how significant that championship moment was for Giants fans and collectors alike. As free agency approaches, NFL Wire has predicted that the Giants should target Trey Smith, the standout offensive lineman from Kansas City. The interior offensive line remains a major concern, and signing Smith could help stabilize the unit while allowing Jermaine Eluemunor to stay at right tackle. If a bidding war drives Smith's price too high, Will Fries could be a more affordable fallback option. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons have been linked to Giants edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, who could be on the move in free agency. Another major draft storyline is unfolding as Shedeur Sanders has announced he won't throw at the NFL Combine, instead focusing on interviews with teams and waiting for Colorado's Pro Day to showcase his arm. This decision could impact the quarterback landscape as teams evaluate their draft boards. With all these developments, the Giants have no shortage of crucial decisions to make. Will they pursue Stafford or another veteran quarterback? Could they invest heavily in the offensive line? And how will their new coaching hires shape the team in 2025? The Chicago Bears' pursuit of Trey Smith heats up as franchise tag day passes without him being tagged. While Smith remains the top target, the Bears must consider backup plans like Will Fries and Kevin Zeitler. The defensive line emerges as a critical area of focus, with the interior needing significant upgrades alongside edge rushers. Andrew Billings and Javon Dexter show promise, but depth is lacking. Ben Johnson's arrival brings a win-now mentality, emphasizing the importance of bolstering both offensive and defensive lines. Safety also becomes a priority due to Jaquan Brisker's health concerns and Kevin Byard's contract situation. Send us a textThe latest episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates* dives into all the biggest headlines surrounding the Giants as the offseason rumor mill heats up. Ja'Marr Chase sent social media into a frenzy after his cryptic tweet about Eli Manning, leading to wild speculation that the superstar receiver could have discussed joining the Giants. This comes just days after reports surfaced that the Giants are planning to pursue a top offensive weapon this offseason. But is this all just a case of fans grasping at straws? The Giants' offensive line remains a major topic, and one name to watch is Will Fries. The Staten Island native has improved every season with the Colts, and despite missing time in 2024 due to injury, his early-season performance graded among the league's best. Could he be a solution for the Giants' struggling O-line? Meanwhile, former Giants receiver Brandon Marshall had high praise for the organization but also questioned their handling of Saquon Barkley's departure. He acknowledged the reality of the business side but made it clear that letting a generational talent walk is a tough pill to swallow. At the East-West Shrine Bowl, quarterback prospects Shedeur Sanders and Michael Penix Jr. had a fun exchange with a Giants fan, playfully asking him to choose between them. With quarterback rumors swirling around Big Blue, it was a lighthearted moment that got fans talking about the team's draft strategy. Meanwhile, Eli Manning showed off his signature humor, joking that he enjoys the Hall of Fame debate because it keeps him in the news. With the Hall of Fame class set to be announced on February 6th, the two-time Super Bowl MVP remains a hot topic. In coaching news, Mike Kafka may be sticking around. The Saints are reportedly zeroing in on Kellen Moore as their top choice, leaving Kafka in limbo. After interviewing twice for the head coaching job, including an exhausting nine-hour second interview, Kafka's future remains uncertain. If he stays, what does that mean for the Giants' offense heading into 2025? The biggest bombshell of the week is Myles Garrett's trade request. The Browns star pass rusher wants out, and his departure could shake up the entire draft board. With Cleveland picking just ahead of the Giants, could they pivot to a full rebuild and target a quarterback? Would they draft Abdul Carter as a potential replacement for Garrett? Or is this all just a leverage move for a bigger contract? The situation could have major implications for the Giants' offseason plans. Finally, Tiki Barber had a strong message for Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt ahead of the Super Bowl. He warned them not to continue hammering the Giants over their decision to move on from Saquon Barkley, saying it's already been played out. With Burkhardt being an Eagles fan and Brady still carrying scars from two Super Bowl losses to the Giants, their comments last week struck a nerve. With free agency and the draft approaching, the Giants have plenty of tough decisions ahead. Will they make a splash move for a top weapon? Is Myles Garrett's situation something to monitor? And what does the future hold for Mike Kafka? Now 10 straight losses in Jacksonville versus the Jaguars. The Colts defensive line never got to Trevor Lawrence. E.J. Speed had a let down game, despite having a couple good plays. Jaylon Jones made a couple plays, but got burned too many times. The offense was a bright side to the game, but prayers to Will Fries. Even with Joe Flacco playing well, if the Colts think Anthony Richardson is the future, he needs to play. Flacco had a good day, with Downs and Pittman playing well early. A.D. Mitchell has to catch the ball before avoiding contact! Alec Pierce has developed into a receiving STUD! The offensive line had issues protecting the quarterback, especially Braden Smith. The coaches will be focused on the Titans, as Indy faces another divisional opponent. It's a small world: Tony Sparano Sr. was Donald's coach, and now Donald coaches Sparano Jr's son. The Colts can still make some noise this 2024 NFL season.

Jeff Saturday wants Bernhard Raimann and Will Fries to develop! Matt Ryan would like Rainmann to hasten that process with TJ Watt and Micah Parsons intent on separating him from the ball the next two games. Indiana hosts Little Rock tonight, and I feel so confident in the Hoosiers, I am giving 40 instead of 30! Pacers try to extend their five-game winning streak against Minnesota, a team sporting their own four-game winning streak. Butler plays Tennessee in the Battle 4 Atlantis at 7:30p! All this and somehow I still found time to malign women from Pittsburgh AND Tom Crean! https://busr.com/kent

Colts gained 43 yards on 38 pass plays. Reich and Ehlinger are easy targets for blame, but who on the offense shouldn't be blamed? Matt Pryor was replaced by Will Fries, but why did he start? The ways this game was embarrassing are endless, but the defense played hard and well - starting with Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

Matt Ryan remains on pace for an NFL record 40 fumbles, and the Colts fall to 1-2-1 after losing to the Titans 24-17. Shaquille Leonard made his debut, and a friendly fire concussion ended it. Danny Pinter was replaced by Will Fries - and Jonathan Taylor ran 20 times for 42 yards and a fumble. Guess it wasn't Pinter after all. Now the Colts have four days to get ready for the Denver Broncos. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
