Break 1: MOG Story 1: Police accuse Atlanta man of allegedly burglarizing 17 Gwinnett businesses De'Vondre Antonio Walker, a 26-year-old Atlanta man, is facing charges in connection with 17 burglaries at Gwinnett County businesses and is also suspected of involvement in burglaries across metro Atlanta. Gwinnett County Police have issued five warrants for second-degree burglary against Walker and are seeking 12 indictments on the same charge. Walker was arrested in Clarkston for a related burglary. Detectives continue to investigate, and additional suspects may be indicted. The burglars used stolen cars with stolen license plates for their crimes. Law enforcement identified a Dodge Charger as the main suspect vehicle, leading to Walker's arrest after a burglary in Clarkston. Walker is currently held without bond in Gwinnett County Jail. Over 120,000 high school seniors in Georgia will receive personalized letters listing public universities, colleges, and technical colleges they are academically eligible to attend. The program aims to engage all learners, including those who may not have considered higher education. Students can claim their spot at the institution of their choice, with application fees waived next month for participants. GEORGIA MATCH addresses the state's workforce needs and is a collaboration between various education and government agencies. The program's cost is estimated at $1.3 million in its first year. Owner Sydney Padow has told customers that the local chain intends to open a new location soon, but details are not yet known. New York-based Leathers & Associates, the original designer, is partnering with the city again. The PlayTown Committee will recruit 1,500 volunteers for the community build scheduled for Oct. 9-15, welcoming people of all abilities and interests. The build experience provides hands-on opportunities for citizens to contribute to their community and express shared pride. Story 3: academy The Snellville Police Department is offering a nine-week Citizens Police Academy class from Sept. 7 to Nov. 2 to foster a stronger bond between officers and the community. The program is open to Snellville-area residents aged 18 and older and covers topics such as domestic violence, traffic stops, building searches, and firearms safety. It includes a ride-along opportunity with a police officer. The academy is free, and applicants do not need to live within city limits.
