They're lying! They're lying about the leprechaun! Hipster & The Nerd & Larry returns to Wasteland Video with a look at two,,,,,,,, well, let's be honest, kinda middling horror films, Xtro 3 and Leprechaun! Join Callie, Brian, and Austin as they dive into the dull characters, meandering story, and bafflingly bad effects that make Xtro 3 the sequel nobody wanted. Then, stick around as they discuss the bizarre tone and characters and suprisingly strong effects work that make Leprechaun a flawed but fun watch. Give it a listen to be momentarily distracted from the horrible election that was still unknown when this was recorded! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/calliehanna/support
After my longest break yet, I pop back up just in time to want to go back into hiding, being Election Day and all. In the meantime, here are my ramblings on two horror movie marathons I attended in October: 1. "They're Here" at Brain Dead Studios in Los Angeles, where I watched the following haunted house-themed films in 16mm: Amityville II: The Possession (1982); Something Evil (1972); Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986); The Others (2001); The Entity (1982); and House (1985) 2. "Camp Frida: British Invasion" at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, where I watched the following UK-based horror movies: Ghostwatch (1992); The Legend of Hell House (1973); The Blood on Satan's Claw (1971); Theatre of Blood (1973); Dracula (1958); and Xtro (1982) Click here for the blog version of this episode.
The Juice Is Loose. Hipster & The Nerd & Larry celebrates the spooky season with a look at the Tim Burton classic Beetlejuice and its recent smash hit sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! Join Callie, Brian, and Austin as they dive into the practical effects work, compelling characters, hysterical comedy, and raucous musical numbers that make both these movies the perfect Halloween treat; as well as getting into the iconography and historical significance of the original and the prolonged development history of the sequel. Say it three times and give it a listen! Also, since we forgot to tease it in the episode, tune in next time for Wasteland Video 6 featuring Xtro 3 and Leprechaun! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/calliehanna/support

Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to.Joining Tim this time is writer Genevieve Jenner, who's tilting the high school soda vending machine in search of any trace of The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein, What A Way To Go! and karmically aware soft drink Fruitopia. Along the way we'll be debating whether Count Chocula is an appropriate breakfast option for 'special occasions', critically assessing Michael Powell's Xtro, shuddering at the thought of The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow's most repulsive exhibit and and revealing why the hippy trail is strewn with striking dustbins, cough medicine and Crown Court. You can find more editions of Looks Unfamiliar at http://timworthington.org/. What's up, Rotters! This week we have a DREAM WARRIORS episode for ya! Mike and Becky join me to discuss Harry Bromley Davenport's third entry in his Xtro trilogy- WATCH THE SKIES. Halloween store effects, two versions of Tom Hanks and some visual scaling problems makes this movie an endearing Trashterpice. Toodles! www. SteviesBrainRot.com
The boys know that their fans love it when dip their delicate toes into the world of obscure horror, and this title is definitely one title that checks off all the boxes. Bizarre and completely unexpected, if there's one title that fans absolutely need to experience prior to listening to their review, it's fucking Xtro. No idea what the hell Xtro actually means or what it stands for, but its a film that boasts an array of surprisingly fantastic practical effects, a plethora of elegant accents, highly unanticipated plot developments that come out of fucking nowhere, a surprise cameo appearance from the tequila worm from Poltergeist 2 but with legs, and a woman birthing literally birthing a grown man on her kitchen floor. It literally gives you everything you want, a few things you don't, and so much more than you could ever anticipate from a movie with such an awful title. Now sit your asses down and find this movie before you listen to yet another fabulous episode! Find out more at http://www.darknightofthepodcast.com
With Father's Day upon us, we wanted to look at movies where the relationship with the father was paramount to the story. Jerry and Matt discuss Xtro (1982) and Frailty (2002) and the very different ways these fathers impact the lives of their offspring. Happy Father's Day!

Welcome back to the Horror. Cult. Trash. Other. Podcast! This week we're discussing 80s cult horror flick, Xtro, a truly bizarre film that features clowns, snakes, aliens (?), human sized toy soldiers, high stick throwing and someone giving birth to an adult, all within a script written by a group of people on many drugs. Una de esas carátulas que en el videoclub me dejaban alucinado, y de niño nunca me acerqué a ella. Al verla de adulto encontré una de las películas más peculiares que te puedas imaginar. A ver qué te parece, indiferente no te va a dejar. Con Luis Martínez Vallés Escucha el episodio completo en la app de iVoox, o descubre todo el catálogo de iVoox Originals
What a long, strange trip it's been. Or will be...This week, we bring the ultra-weird in the form of a movie where an alien impregnates a woman to give birth to himself as an adult. And that's just in the first few minutes. Did you just eat some kind of mushroom? Nope, we're watching Xtro!
How did we find this movie? Man, that is a good question. Apparently a lot of you have seen it, and now we can count ourselves among you. A man is kidnapped by aliens, but nobody believes that's what happened except his son who he later comes back to find after being birthed from the canal of an unknown woman as a grown man, only to turn his son into what can best be described as a zombie. We try to figure this one out. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/slasherhardlyknowher/support
THE BROOD | XTRO | ALTERED STATESWith Guest Programmer ROBB LEEFamily dynamics can be a bit tricky– especially if Mom's a crazy New Age nutbag who prefers to lick the afterbirth from freshly hatched brood babies rather than spend time with her familial unit. And where do you go with the conversation after you catch Dad slurping up snake eggs or devolving into a caveman who breaks into zoos to get in touch with his primordial side? Lucky for you, the Dead City Drive-In's got you covered! Brandon and Chris are joined by Guest Programmer Robb Lee to delve deep into childhood trauma with a double feature of dysfunctional family dynamics! Lay down on the couch, pop a couple hits of acid and get ready for some intense psychotherapy… we can't guarantee a breakthrough, but you will have a complete NUCLEAR FAMILY MELTDOWN!
Hey everybody! This week I am extremely under the weather - the test says it's not COVID, so I'm gonna chalk it up the film festival equivalent of "con crud" from the week before. That said, I didn't want to just leave y'all high and dry with no episode! So friend of the show Austin from Central Cinema did me the huge favor of coming on to talk about one of MY personal picks for Best Horror Movie Ever Made - XTRO!!!! Even better on my 8th watch if you can believe it. We're talking about our favorites from the Knoxville Horror Fest and the Philadelphia Film Festival including: The Civil Dead Something in the Dirt Weird: The Al Yankovic Story Broker Aftersun How to Blow Up a Pipeline Decision to Leave Then we move into the movie about an alien that feels like it was made by one, and all the surreal clowns, army men, panthers and eggs that comprise it! Don't miss out - plus there's a tease for some very exciting episodes coming up at the end!

Episode 59 is LIVE, and this week for the letter X we decided that instead of watching Xtro 4 we'd spin Kevin's Wheel of Options! The theme was '80's Buddy Movies' and out of 8 options the old gods and the new chose the 1976 Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor picture, Silver Streak! It's trains, planes, and automobiles of a different kind, and enough awkward, middle-aged sexual innuendos to make you gag! JOIN US. It's Miller time! Everywhere you pod.
