In the words of my guest, Wes Boshoff, "For far too long we have given our destinations and our decisions and largely, our lives to others. Here is a glimpse into her journey. BY A TRAVELLER WHO CHOSE TO TAKE THE HIGHER ROAD IN LIFE...I've realized that to turn your life around is a process; sometimes a long one. Whether it is a desire for transformation or an area of trouble or doubt, there is a process that you must undergo to change your perception. It definitely does not happen at first thought or overnight. For change to be permanent, you have to revolutionize the way you think. Old habits that may have worked through some stages of your life have to be replaced with new ones. It is indeed a renewal of the mind. To form those new pathways in the brain is a daily choice. If you are willing to brave the wilderness and walk through the desert on this one, the reward will far surpass your effort. Forming new pathways creates the opportunity to believe that what may have been viewed as impossible is now possible. The process is partly challenging your own belief patterns to such an extent that you can know that what was impossible before now seems within reach, even though everything in your everyday world is screaming out that you must be crazy. I had to fight many giants in my own neural pathways to renew my mind and create new corridors of thinking. Somewhere in all my frustration, tears and failures, there were days of breakthrough and victory. The journey demanded that I turn my perceptions around and correct my perspectives. I learned that perception is looking at a situation through man's eyes. Therefore it is subject to change. Perspective, however, is looking at a situation through God's eyes, and with Him, there is no shadow of turning.Perception may seem right for us at the time, but there is always the risk of blind spots (or scotomas) keeping us from the truth. Perception can keep things hidden from you, such as truths or insights that have not been explored or that are not part of your current reality. God's perspective changes blind spots into light spots if you adapt your mind and heart to see God's view as the truth, instead of focusing on your own perception, you will soon have insights revealed to you. You will recognize how unfounded lies have misshaped and distorted your world.Read more in the soon-to-be-released digital format of Turn It Around and also keep a close watch for my gift to you of e-Booklets. www.angeliquedutoit.co.za or connect on social media.
PODCAST INTERVIEW WITH NIKKI BUSH - Award-winning Speaker and best-selling Author. If you have a pulse you have a purpose. I just love this line from my podcast guest this week, Angelique du Toit. So what is your purpose, regardless of what you have been through in your life; what keeps you here and keeps you going? In this episode, you will hear that fear is a force that you can either confront or run away from. You will be challenged about whether you are operating from inspiration or desperation, that you have to be in it to win it and you have to make a choice to make a change. Angelique du Toit is a global speaker who has travelled the ups and downs of life and shares her wisdom and insights with such eloquence. She entered the world of work at the age of 14 as an apprentice hairdresser, out of necessity, coming from a background of abuse. She describes some of her crossroad moments in which she chose to do life differently, pulling her back from the brink of despair. After her husband's sudden passing at the end of 2019, Angelique's carefully planned reality came crashing down. She was registering his death in Italy in early 2020 when the global pandemic lockdown came into force. She spent most of that year isolated and grieving alone. Her mantra, that I remember clearly from the first talk of hers that I attended, many years ago, was to be put to the test once again, under extreme conditions: You win or you lose by the way that you choose.Listen, learn and be inspired by our conversation.THE CONVERSATION COVERS:How to tell a new story when a new chapter opensWhat in the world are you waiting for?How to live with hands, hearts, minds and eyes wide openWalking into your fearChoosing to really live instead of merely existingNot letting people trespass your boundariesFighting against patterns of abuse (your own and others)Your power to turn things aroundFrustration is a sign that change is neededYou have to be in it to win itBeing powerful and authoritative in a soft and feminine wayWhy most people stop before they startAward-winning speaker and best-selling author, Nikki Bush, helps individuals and teams to win at life and work. As I have reflected over this past season not only in my own life but in the world, I recognised a wonderful analogy through the creative art of weaving which I would like to share with you on this podcast. What I enjoy most about the study of humankind, is to recognise that we are all wonderfully unique with our own stories, experiences and perceptions and filters that add different shades to our lives. I read a beautiful quote the other day: The one thing that you have that nobody else has is YOU. Your voice. Your mind. Your story. Your vision. So write and build and draw and play and dance. And live as only you can. When we take time to reflect and reframe, it is intriguing what picture emerges and what we can learn from the multifaceted layers of life, and the resilience that is required to rise to the life we were meant to live. That abundant life that Jesus came to give because God so loves the world! When all of the threads come together in technicolour detail, a wonderful tapestry of your life is created and it is to be enjoyed.

In this episode, I have elected to comb through the past two years of my life and share some of the rich nuggets that have reframed, reshaped and reformed me since I have chosen to become a student of both the experiences in my personal life and what has taken place in our world over these past 24 months. There is not a person on earth that has not been affected by this storm that has raged across the world. Therefore, the rolling over of the calendar year is yet another gift to you for you to script the life you choose to live into. I have believed and lived by this statement for years; and I wish to underscore it again: Your future is the privilege that you have of co-creating with your Creator—the one who knows the end from the beginning and everything in between. You are going into an uncertain future whether you resist it or not. Rather take the approach to co-create it, than to arrive "there" unprepared, bewildered and disappointed. This privilege of co-creating in the "now" is a gift and we need to unwrap it sooner rather than later.www.angeliquedutoit.co.zaInstagram: angelique_du_toitFacebook: @AngeliqueDTLinkedIn

In this episode called A BROKEN HEART CAN BECOME A BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART, I will be sharing about some key and valuable learnings about loss and newfound life. And particularly in today's episode, I am having a conversation with an amazing woman, Nanki Robbertse who suffered a great loss in her life and yet has emerged radiant, empowered and above all, generous as she has taken the pain in her life and has turned it into a purposeful mission; that of inspiring and encouraging others who may have had miscarriages, lost their babies at birth or who have had their children leave this earth, seemingly way before their time.If you have suffered loss, trauma or grief in any area of your life, you will find this interview deeply meaningful. As a segue into the forthcoming interview, I would like to use the Japanese art form of Kintsugi as an illustration of how a broken heart can become a beautiful piece of art, which is the title of this podcast.Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold, founded on the idea that in embracing our pains, flaws and imperfections, we can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique of Kintsugi actually highlights the "scars" as part of the design. Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful and resilient. The art form is sometimes called golden joinery. What is particularly beautiful about Kintsugi is that the repairs to the vessel are deliberately made on the outside so they cannot be hidden but rather that the join is celebrated and creates a beauty of its own. Wherever you may be right now; whatever you could be experiencing in your life, whatever your situation, it is encouraging to remind yourself that somewhere inside all of us is the power to change our world. The pathway of life is a combination of shade and light, valleys and mountaintops, broad roads, and narrow spaces. The narrow places invite you to not be afraid of the shadows in life that may try to get you to retreat instead of being mindful that there is always hope--even if you only see a glimmer of it in the distance. Keep walking with eyes wide open in new wonder. You will miss the best things if you keep your life-eyes shut. It is time to Rekindle Your Optimism.
Dramatic life events such as we have lived through over the past two years remind us that it is time to find a fresh perspective for a new world; to reset and re-emerge, to find the courage again to set out with a confident stride and to look circumstances straight in the eye and to declare that we will not be defeated by this. It will take gaining a fresh perspective for a new world.Challenges strengthen your core. The stronger your core, the less prone you are to injury and this applies to your spirit, soul and body. In any structure, if the core is weak the structure becomes dangerously unstable. Life's challenges are designed to bring you through in even greater strength. In this podcast, I share many of my mind-meanderings after a time of reset and re-emergence. After loss and lockdown, I knew intrinsically in my core, that if I was going to live the rest of my days as the best days of my life, I needed to do whatever it takes to make sure I emerged victoriously in spirit, soul and body. Life. Everyone on earth lives in this intriguing arena called the world.Loss. Everyone will experience painful loss at some stage of their lives.Lockdown. Everyone has been in shut down in one form or another.Leadership. Not everyone has yet accepted this challenge. But you can.It first starts with you.In this candid conversation with Adriaan Groenewald, CEO of the Leadership Platform, I share openly about the miracle of life and opportunity in the midst of loss and lockdown. This is my final podcast for 2020 as I make my way back to South Africa. Until we connect again, remember you are alive for such a time as this. Own it. Influence it. Love it.
Life is not so much about what happens in our lives, but how we respond to what takes place in our lives. On this week’s podcast I have a conversation with Adriaan Groenewald, the CEO of The Leadership Platform. We talk about matters of life, leadership and legacy. This interview was held before the passing of my husband, Ernest. As I re-listened to the conversation, I was powerfully reminded of the statement I have taken ownership of this year and that is for us to write our plans in pencil and give the eraser to God. I trust you will be inspired to dream, aim high, to find and live into your purpose and know that whatever comes across your path, you can choose the way you wish to navigate your future. To connect with Adriaan Groenewald:Twitter: @AdriaanG_LP or @LeadershipPform or @ThinkLead1LinkedIn: Adriaan Groenewald
If you love what you do, do it with all of your heart. If you feel half-hearted, you may feel indifferent or detached, prompting you to leave it. Finally, you may have to make a change and know that you cannot change anyone else, only yourself and your choices.
God is grace, pure and simple. His grace is available to us at every turn, especially when we need to turn things around in our lives. If not for His grace, where would we be? God loves to surprise us with His gifts of grace. Don’t expect Him to do the same thing the same way all the time. He is omniscient, omnipresent, and deeply involved in your life. Receiving His grace is the first part of our responsibility; the second is to live in recognition of His grace; then we need to be responsible with His Grace. Grace is love in action.
Imagination is such a powerful gift-and it can be used for your benefit or your detriment. The biggest enemy we have to overcome is what, how and why we think the way we do. Unless your mind is giving you consistent valuable feedback, useful information, edifying pictures and life-giving qualities daily, we have to know that there is continually a virtual giant we have to slay. I say virtual, because mostly it is our wild and unbridled imaginations that keep us ensnared and cowering in fear. Protect yourself from alarming imaginations by keeping your eyes and heart on God.
Allow me take you with me on this mosaic journey in Italy to highlight how one life connects with another. If we don’t capture and frame the moment, it may pass by unnoticed and become like any other. We are then none the wiser as to what impressive mosaic patterns could appear that could potentially reshape and reframe our lives.
Trying to resist the various circumstances, challenges and processes in your life is futile, since whether we like the notion or not, they all work together like a gearbox in a motor vehicle to get us moving onward. We may need to reverse every now and again or manoeuvre in a few different directions, but travel forward we must, otherwise we will never reach our destination.
Living a victorious life every day is going to require that you know your why for life. What makes you, you? What makes you want to get up in the morning and do what you have chosen to do? Or do you even want to get up in the morning? Successful daily living is about making the choice to make the most of the seasons of your life – the winter and the summer; the magnificent and the mundane. Dynamic daily living is about expressing gratitude, developing excellence in your life and becoming alive to the possibilities that surround you every moment of your one life.
Passion, excitement and self-ignition are the boosters to launch your personal rocket. Where would you like to go? What would you like to experience? It is going to mean you need to strengthen your inner person to be tough and resilient. It means not quitting when the challenges become intense and even terrifying at times. It is about standing tall to slay the giant in your head and in your land. It will mean regaining your awe for life. Becoming excited again at the prospect of what can be. Arising in awe will awaken you to what can be. It will provoke you to capitalize on every opportunity in life; for opportunity passes, it does not pause.
Life calls for us to prepare as well as we can for the good times and the less than best of times. We try to be ready in and out of season. You may feel confident that your boat is watertight. You can have your plans written out, solidly set up in your mind; you can even make future arrangements in light of these plans. But as life unfolds it sometimes brings a surge, a sudden rising of the tide, a change in the ebb and flow that interrupts the rhythm and timing of your plans, occasionally even bringing with it uncertainty and fear. What is your recovery strategy when these unexpected elements rush in like a flood? No grit. No pearl.
I believe we will all agree that what we need in the world right now is RESILIENCE for our times. Resilience is the ability to get up, to bounce back from the no’s and not now’s and to find the grit and traction to keep pressing forward despite the reality of what swirls around us. Some years back, I wrote a book called, What in the World are You Waiting For? I had no idea then, that what I wrote I would live through in ways that would completely redefine my life in 2020.
Working with multitudes of people over many years has shown me that there is no secret to success but there are requirements. Personally, I believe that internal transformation is the key to have external impact in any arena of life. Reordering your life from the inside-out removes the limitations and allows you the freedom to crown your life with extraordinary achievements.
If you desire anything to be changed on the outside, you first have to make the change on the inside. There is usually an internal transition that needs to happen before you can have an external impact. Every structure has a blue print and when it is constructed it is strengthened in its core to ensure the building doesn’t cave in on itself. Somehow we forget this when it comes to our own lives. We build the outside strong, sending all the right impressions, expressing what we believe others need or try to keep everyone happy. Great amounts of energy is spent on the external yet quietly and often unnoticed, the inside structure is crumbling, but we don’t have the time to notice. This is the force that habitual behavior can have in our lives.
Moving forward with purpose requires the passion that gives you energy and the will to fulfill your purpose. Passion gives you the adrenaline to push through even when everyone else is telling you it can’t be done. People who live without passion may find the journey of life more difficult than those who pursue life purposefully. Passion for the seemingly impossible should excite, ignite and delight you! Why stay stuck in the rut of routine when God has blessed you with His ability to dream, to imagine, to create something out of nothing? Remember, everything in this world was once somebody’s idea, but to create the new you will have to keep moving forward with purpose.
It's not about doing it all-it's about doing your best at all you can do. Success or failure is not one great cataclysmic event, but rather a series of choices you have made over a period of time. Every opportunity you are waiting for will come as a response to the seeds you have sown. Start sowing to the best of you. What have you got to lose by having great expectations? You will lose bad expectations! Now that’s a great trade and you will rejoice at the harvest you reap.
Seeds of Hope can be planted in every way, every day by each one of us, and in due season we will reap a harvest. Join me on this interview with the founder of SucSeed, Nishani Ford, where we reflect on daily living, businesses and careers, relationships, creating wealth, and what we can do to help those who are not yet experiencing the harvest of success, It may be physically, relationally, financial or in other arenas. We discuss building a bridge between having a wish list and a strategy. Tune in to this in-depth interview and let hope light your way as you sow seed to SucSeed.
Many circumstances in life may have painful endings, but this never rules out enjoying a new beginning. The truth is that some things have had to end for you to enter a new beginning. There is no time like the present to declutter, reframe and restructure to find that pathway to your new beginning. We get to choose how our individual circumstances evolve.
New beginnings will call for you to examine your beliefs, your thought patterns, that all-important self-talk and your actions. A fresh start requires that you begin to design in your mind the kind of future you wish to step into. Doing it right today means no regrets tomorrow. An eternity mindset is the bedrock for powerful new beginnings.
For a Time Such as This: The topic of the interview is centered around finding and keeping hope in tough times. Sharing part of my life story, the happenings over the past 7 months, what I have learnt through these times, applying workable coping mechanisms, sharing key learnings and points of reference include:* The necessity for a resilient approach* Creating the right frame of mind and standing tall* The all-important role of faith* Shifting one's perspective in an ever-changing world
God designed us with an assignment and for each one of us to give expression to Him in our uniqueness. Being content with you who are is one of the pathways to individually and uniquely fulfill your purpose. God needs our differences to bridge the divisions that humankind has created and for you to play your part in His great design.
Hope is inspired in the now so why not start today by untangling that which keeps you tightly bound in your mind and in your life? Don't attempt to change it all at once. Work on one tripwire at a time, disconnect from it and move onto the next one. You are not without hope. You are not without help. God is ever-present to help you even in the midst of your deepest trials.
It is fascinating to note how God's instructions are mostly around the word, Go! Even more interesting is that these two letters are the first two letters of God's Name. Remember, all glory comes from daring to begin in faith! Don't spend one more day wishing away...be at peace, be at rest, but don't become the couch and be sure not to confuse rest with stagnation. Life is to be lived all the days of your life.
