Why do jackrabbits have such huge donkey ears? What is up with the cute jiggly nose? Jackrabbits are one of the most successful animals and thrive in all 4 of the major North American deserts. Jackrabbits can eat almost any vegetation and have some impressive natural defenses that help them elude predators like mountain lions, snakes, and hawks! The jackrabbit is actually not a rabbit at all. It is a hare! My favorite fun fact about jackrabbits is how they punch each other like humans, standing on 2 legs. Here, the Jackrabbit is explained in great detail. This video contains everything you need to know. Annoyingly, "jackrabbit" is also correctly spelled as "jack-rabbit," and "jack rabbit." Did you know pufferfish can't use their stomach for digestion because it's main purpose is to expand in a matter of seconds like a water balloon on a faucet? Pufferfish are the most poisonous vertebrate in the ocean. A single pufferfish contains enough neurotoxin to paralyze 100 people if eaten, but that doesn't stop the Japanese from enjoying their exotic "fugu" dinners. Tigersharks are immune to tetrodotoxin, but most predators are startled away when a pufferfish blows up in their mouth! I think the coolest animal facts about Pufferfish are their ability to change colors, mating rituals, underwater crop circles, and their "beak!" Here, the Pufferfish is explained in great detail. This video contains everything you need to know. Pufferfish live in fresh and saltwater environments all over the world, and they are divided into 2 families. One family has spikes and includes the porcupinefish, and the other family only has soft skin like my pet pea puffer! This monster is somewhat missed named. The only kissing it does is biting you near your mouth and pooping on your face at night. The kissing bug also spreads a deadly parasitic disease prevalent in south and central America. The microbes, named "Trypanosoma cruzi" crawl in through the bite wound left by the kissing bug, or through your mouth when you scratch and spread the feces. Kissing bugs are gross and dangerous because the parasite they carry causes "Chagas disease" which can scar your heart tissue. Chagas disease can go unnoticed for years... Today, we learn about the Origin of Life on Earth. How did life emerge from the inanimate world? Scientists have a good explaination for how abiogenesis could have occured. We know life emerged spontaneously by chemical processes that we understand, but we don't know exactly what happened 3.5 billion years ago in the primordial soup. This Abiogenesis video will give you good explaination of how many scientists think the primordial soup could have lead to the origin of life on earth. Please watch if you are interested where LUCA, the last universal cellular ancestor, came from. We also discuess the RNA world hypothesis. I also speculate on the chance of life occuring. What is negativity bias? We learn how the human mind is wired to think negatively based on millions of years of evolution. Today's humans still have a caveman brain, and it is not yet adapted to the modern world. This leads to anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, poor decision making, and an inability to take risks. We learn why humans always dwell on the negatives, how this is harmful, and what you can do to become more positive in your everyday life. It is important to properly weigh pros and cons to think rationally for the times we live in. Enjoy 3D animations and HD videos while listening to the English narration. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHJmIluvev_unEsqNZD2KwA?sub_confirmation=1 We learn how tectonic plates cause natural disasters and how continental drift shapes the world. Divergent boundaries, convergent boundaries, subduction zones, and transform faults cause earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis. We look at animations, photos, and videos and listen to English narration to learn how plate tectonics work. We look at examples of Yellowstone, the Himalayas, Hawaii, California, Philippines, Iceland, and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Can seismographs help prevent tsunamis, and what is the Richter Scale? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHJmIluvev_unEsqNZD2KwA?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to Chris from Science Talk TV read his English translation of this Chinese Quarantine Staffer give her warning on social media. I did my independent translation so we can figure out which of these other translations are causing unnecessary fear. Let's listen to her message and be safe! This nurse does indeed suggest she thinks 90,0000+ people are already infected, but how credible is this? Let me know in the comments if you can improve the translation and if you know if Jin Hui is a credible source. I used a crowd source translation service for this, so hopefully we can get closer to the truth. This is not my opinion, just me reading what the translation company handed me.
