Have you ever been marinating in negativity? I am sure that you did at some point, like most people. The key is to feel the feelings. Express authentically what is coming up for you. However, do not marinate in negativity and victimhood. That serves no one. Negative thoughts will only bring more negativity into every single area of your life. If you want to be happy, focus on cultivating that happiness inside of you no matter what. We can't bring anyone to light by going to the dark side. And we can't change anyone. Focus on YOU. We ask this when we keep getting involved with partners who seem to remind us of our less-than-ideal parents. You ask this question most likely because your childhood was less than perfect, which left you with a map of the world and self-view that causes you to disconnect from who you really are. It has been a hot minute since my last episode. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes. Masses of transformation, shifts, changes and growth. He is very concerned about your survival, but he draws his conclusions from the past, and that is often a very bad advisor, especially when things don't work for you. He loves you and wants the best for you, yet what he delivers is often the opposite. We need to learn how to treat the chimp and work with him, not against him. What do you think about working hard? Pushing and striving. Chasing and puffing and huffing on your way to success. I think we live in a society that glamorizes working hard as a way to prove your worthiness. No wonder we have so many professionals struggling with burnout and anxiety. Why? Because no matter how hard you work, there is never enough. There will always be someone working harder and better. Isn't it more important to focus on what you can do right now and TRUST that as you learn, grow and evolve, things you want & desire will come with ease? That is not to say that you don't need to work. You do BUT without 'killing yourself in the process' & without putting your life on hold. WORDS are like brushes we use to paint the masterpieces of our lives! As I am on my own transformational journey, this concept circles back to me time and time again. And every time I dig deeper, I find out this is a fundamental wisdom. All the stories, beliefs and agreements we made, as Toltec tradition says, shape and influence our lives. The good news is you can change it if you don't like the way your life shapes up. However, the catch is that you need to slow down and recognise all the limiting stories & beliefs you may have by becoming an observer of your thoughts. And most of us are far too afraid to do that. Have you ever felt like everyone & everything is against you? Life just seems to be pushing and pushing against you. However, you are so used to pain that you tell yourself it doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt. We are so used to people hurting us and manipulating us that we begin to think there is something wrong with us. Consider that there is nothing wrong with you. Life is trying to get your attention, as there is a lesson to be learned. The problem is a lack of boundaries. Specifically, the inability to say NO. When we say YES to everyone else and whether that is more work than you can handle do some errands when we are already overbooked low pay crappy relationships abusive language someone taking advantage of our good heart That is when we say NO to ourselves, our needs, and our desires. That is when we betray ourselves. That is when we put everyone else and everything else as more important than our well-being. And I am sure you have heard that you can't give from an empty cap. Your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you can ever have. Yet, so many of us betray ourselves over and over. As we navigate life challenges, I often hear people saying 'that was the most logical decision I could make'. We pride ourselves on being logical and rational. What if I told you that although we may use logic to justify our decisions, we are emotional human beings, and ALL our decisions are irrational and emotional? Whattttt? I hear you scream. If you look closely at commercials to expand the commercial value & stickiness of the ad, they often turn into emotions. And if you take emotions from the considerations while making so-called logical decisions, you are doing this at your own peril. The same rules apply when you negotiate with your child to clean their room or sell your services on the sales call. Think about what an unconscious need & desire you need to fill to get a YES. To celebrate the 100th episode of my podcast, I invited my friend Gina Hansen. We started the episode reminiscing how we met, as it is rare to meet soul friends.
I hear many people saying that they experienced BURNOUT. Some more than once. Just because it is common, it doesn't mean it is normal. I know that you are probably someone who works really hard while sacrificing your health and family. You pile on more and more on your plate. Then you are struggling with your health. Your business is not where you want it to be, so you work even harder. You don't eat well, and exercise is often not a priority. Between all the responsibilities, YOU are the last. But is it worth it? All the money in the world will not make you happy if you are miserable on your way there. Money will amplify who you are already. If you want to live in well-being, YOU become a priority. So we need to have a deeper conversation. Because WELL-BEING is more than just eating healthy and meditating once a day. If you are exercising in the morning but then spend the rest of your day stressed, your well-being will suffer. Your WELLNESS is a gateway to your sustainable success. However, that looks for you. There are a few aspects that we need to address on our way to well-being. We are disconnected and don't listen to our intuition or our bodies. Your body keeps the score, and that is a fact. We have energetic bodies, and every thought, emotion, feeling, past trauma, thing, people & situation has an energetic signature that leaves residue in our bodies. We need to address all the aspects of our energetic bodies. Physical, spiritual and emotional. A good place to start is to: ➡️Reconnect by starting to listen. ➡️Slow down. ➡️Set healthy boundaries ➡️Reevaluate all your commitments and let go of what doesn't move you forward. ➡️Nourish all aspects of yourself Our external environment is a mirror image, an extension of what is going on inside of us. There is an undeniable connection between mind, body and spirit. They are deeply connected and intertwined. Fixing the superficial level or the presenting problem will not do it. Addressing only one aspect will not be enough. If you want sustainable success, your health needs to be a priority. And well-being is part of that protocol. Responsible. Responsibility can be a daunting prospect for many. Yet, many co-dependent people feel responsible for others while forgetting about themselves. So what does being responsible means? To me, being responsible is taking responsibility for self-care toward yourself. When we feel amazing. When we are nourished. When we are rested and sleep well. When we look after our health and well-being. That is when we are able to provide whatever that is we decide to others. YOU CAN'T GIVE FROM AN EMPTY CAP. Imagine taking care of others while struggling with burnout. In short. It is not going to happen. Imagine trying to grow a business and being creative and innovative while stressed. Let me tell you. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? I am pretty sure that you know the story. The queen regularly asks the mirror who is the fairest of them all. And when one day the answer is Snow White, she got pretty angry at the magic mirror. Ouchhh How would you react if that was you in front of that mirror? However, there is a catch. Instead of saying it's Snow White, the mirror says to you: It doesn't matter what I say. You can, however, improve your self-image. Here is what you need to do: Do not compare Work on your self-esteem Let go of anger Stop fearing judgment Deal with past emotional hurts Would you throw rocks at the magic mirror? Or would you take the advice? Oh, and the most important advice, that the mirror gives you is to LOVE yourself deeply. Yes, I know, you can stop rolling your eyes at me and listen with an open mind. Because we can't let more ease and lightness into our lives when we are being hard on ourselves. We can't allow more happiness if we don't love ourselves first. We can not let in sustainable success if we abuse our bodies with unhealthy food, alcohol, no water, overworking, no exercise, negativity or worrying. It doesn't work. All starts with YOU. 'The most dangerous way we sabotage ourselves is by waiting for the perfect moment. Nothing works perfectly the first time', Veronika Tugaleva. I spent years engaging in sabotaging patterns not even realising that I was going it. All I knew was that I felt stuck and unhappy. All I could comprehend is that I wasn't where I wanted to be. However, I had no clue what to do. I was super lost. And that is the case for so many people to various degrees. Most of the time sabotaging patterns are so subtle or so ingrained into our identity that we struggle to see it. We would not see it even if it was handed to us on the silver platter. However, for all those people out there growing in their consciousness and wanting to dig deeper, self-awareness is a very important step. We need awareness to know what needs to change. What's next? Work on yourself of course. There are many ways you can go about it. I am obviously biased towards hypnosis as the tool of my choice. However, choose the tool of your choosing. As you grow and evolve, you will most likely attract more critics. They would aim to undermine your success. Why would anyone do that? Surely people want to be happy for other fellow humans. The thing is, critics reserve the most criticism towards themselves. They are unhappy, miserable or dissatisfied with life. And they express that feeling outwardly by finding fault and criticising others. The last thing you want to do is to doubt your abilities and question whether you are good because of their anger or insecurities. Their criticism has nothing to do with you, but it shows exactly how they see themselves. There is no need to confront their view as you will achieve nothing. However, there is a way to respond to them. This way, you will completely surprise them as they will not expect it. Yet, they will feel seen and heard in a way that most likely never happened before. What is your relationship with receiving? Are you a giver that can never accept even the smallest acts of kindness, such as a compliment? You find elaborate ways to dismiss all compliments, attempts to buy you lunch or provide help. Not to mention, you undercharge and say YES to everything if asked for help. You feel very uncomfortable allowing others to do something for you. Consider that you are robbing other people of the pleasure of serving & giving. Consider that you may struggle with low self-worth or feel not good enough. Consider that perhaps you believe that you need to work hard to deserve love/success/money. Whaaatttt? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? We all have something that we want to change or doesn't work. Perhaps is your body, your relationship or your finances. Maybe life seems like an uphill battle. When people come to me they think they know what the problem is. However, from experience, I can tell that issue you think you have is rarely the problem. And as I listen to your expressions, your words and emotions you express the picture starts to emerge because our thoughts and words indicate the depths of our soul's inner, subconscious identity. However, most of us live hectic lives where we refuse to slow down. Where we refuse to look within. We are unaware of what is happening, even though your words and thoughts express it exactly. Our minds are not designed to live in the modern world. We are overwhelmed, tired and exhausted. And we make this OK.
What if I told you that you are more powerful than you give yourself credit for? So many of us feel frustrated or disappointed with our lives as they are not where we want them to be. What is the problem? Most of us are NOT paying any attention to our self-talk. If you did, you would notice: How much negativity there is. How much self-judgment and self-criticism do you engage in daily? How do you keep reaffirming yourself to what is not possible for you? I hear you ask, so what? Or perhaps how so? WORDS create reality. And yes, I know you heard that gazillions times before (or maybe you haven't), but what have you done with this knowledge? Are you actively and consciously working on yourself? Or have you shelved this knowledge like many other things you read? When your inner dialogue includes phrases such as: You can't handle that That is too much How will you cope with the kids and growing business Look at you. You look tired and unattractive. That FB live didn't go to plan. I talked too fast. On the surface, this may seem insignificant, BUT when you engage in this type of self-talk or worse, you undermine your self-worth and trust in yourself and in your abilities. Chip, chip, chip ... even a drop of water can make a dent in the rock. Add to this a dash of uncomfortable emotions that we numb out with alcohol, Netflix shopping or various habits, even your thought habits. And you get yourself someone who consciously tries to create a certain outcome but quietly continues to self-sabotage all the efforts to maintain the status quo, a reality that is so familiar to them. How being selfish to be selfless can assist you in creating your authentic life? I love challenging social norms and having guests that live authentically to their visions regardless of what others may or may not say. That is why my recent guest, Dr Paulette Evans, was such a joy to interview. I would like you to consider that you can easily LET GO of fear of judgment or any story, belief or habit that doesn't serve you any more. It is your CHOICE TO DO IT. Just because it served you when you were four or fifteen, it doesn't mean it will continue to do so. You are right before that promotion or signing a new client, and somehow you missed a very important deadline or forgot to do something. Perhaps you made a mistake, and the whole thing collapsed. Sounds familiar? Our mind has many ingenious ways of sabotaging us. Sometimes it is very obvious. Sometimes is so subtle that we can't even see it. We are conditioned to believe that we can't have it too easy. We believe that we need to struggle. Often we don't even realise we have many limiting beliefs that run the show from the shadows of the subconscious mind. When the subconscious beliefs are at odds with the conscious wishes and desires, that is where the sabotage happens. And the subconscious always wins unless we do the work. Do you need to be resilient to be successful? Great question. I have often asked myself if I am resilient. And I have to say yes, but not always in a healthy way. So, do you need to be resilient to be successful? Personally, my interpretation is YES. We need a healthy dose of resilience. Why? Because business & life, in general, is filled with challenging situations that we can't control. It takes courage, confidence and self-esteem to show up in the world and make our desires a reality. The more resilient we are, the more we can stabilise our emotional responses. Resilience also means ... Adaptability. Capacity to stay flexible in thinking, feeling and behaving. Improving your self-awareness. And that is not always easy if we don't have a supportive network, haven't dealt with limiting beliefs, lack of confidence, low self-esteem or habits that hold us back. However, the main takeaway I want you to take from this episode is that resilience is about remaining FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE. I want to leave you with one of my favourite hacks. Practice REFRAMING to build resilience. Whaaaat? Consider that everything is about interpretations. It is about how we choose to look at any problem or situation. Are you dealing with stress in the most effective way? Stress has become a fact of life. I think that is CRAZY. We normalised living in the struggle. We got so used to being stressed that many people live balancing between stress & chronic stress. I don't think I have to say that stress affects our bodies in profound ways. Starting from high blood pressure, depression, headaches, and sleep problems to lack of focus, impaired cognitive abilities and fertility problems. And although our bodies are amazing at supporting us, how do you take care of yourself? Are you taking good care of the vessel (aka your body)? Perhaps you eat too much or not enough. Maybe you drink too much to cope with life. How about numbing with Netflix or shopping (name your poison)? All of that are coping strategies to deal with emotions, feelings, and things we don't want to deal with. And with stress being so present in our lives, those coping strategies are being tested. It's not the lion chasing us for breakfast anymore. It's the boss. Your partner. Your financial situation. The state of the world. Problems with kids. So many different stressors. The question is, how do you deal with it? Doing your daily practices when life is good is easy. How does your practice look when life is not so good? For me, it's doubling down on my practices.
It's never too late to have a happy & joyful childhood to build confidence. And neuroscience proves it is possible. You may be thinking, what on earth, Ewelina, how does that relate to business, building a career, working on our relationships etc., as adults? Let me say EVERYTHING. I don't know about you, but I didn't have good role models in my life. I learned from an early age how to live in a scarcity mindset, how not to be confident, and feel less than & not worthy of my dreams. Not a good set of stories and beliefs if you ask me. However, it is never too late to start 'parenting yourself' and rewire your beliefs, stories and habits that will support you and your goals. Learn how to give yourself what you need. Learn to love yourself. That one alone took some work, but it made all the difference.
