During this episode with Mike and Amy Matthews you will learn about the challenges this neurodiverse couple experienced trying to find the root cause of Mike's depression and the difficult journey they went on to discover he had been in Autistic burnout for years and didn't know it. (I apologize for the tech glitches we had for about 5 minutes from about 20-25 minutes in.)Some of the topics we discussed are:How things changed after they had their first child. How before becoming a parent Mike had created a life that fit his brain.Little time for special interests after kids were born.Saw a psychiatrist and went on 5 different antidepressants and none worked.Loneliness of watching your partner go through this process.Psychiatrists and therapists said Mike couldn't be Autistic because he showed “empathy” and could maintain "eye contact".Relationship challenges after trying to figure out what was happening for about 5 years.Mike did research on Autism and everything fit. Went for Autism assessment and the results were that Mike had schizoid personality disorder, but Mike now self identifies as Autistic.Probably wasn't depression it was Autistic burnout. The importance of understanding sensory needs.Amy tried to enjoy the good days during the process. The importance of having a partner who wants to do the work. Creating a neuro-affirming household and family.Celebrating everyone's differently wired brains.Understanding the ways you are different and sharing your needs without guilt. The importance of having positive role models. Many in the medical/mental health community do not have the education and knowledge that they need to understand and work with neurodivergent adults.Contact Amy at amatthews@prairiewellness.org or click hereIf you would like to learn more about the resources Mona offers including the Neurodiverse Love Conversation Cards & Workbook, the 2023 and 2025 Neurodiverse Love Conference Sessions, support groups for Neurodiverse Couples and for the non-autistic partners, please check out her website.

fWotD Episode 2548: Into Temptation (film) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Friday, 26 April 2024 is Into Temptation (film).Into Temptation is a 2009 independent drama film written and directed by Patrick Coyle, and starring Jeremy Sisto, Kristin Chenoweth, Brian Baumgartner, Bruce A. Young and Amy Matthews. It tells the story of a prostitute (Chenoweth) who confesses to a Catholic priest (Sisto) that she plans to kill herself on her birthday. The priest attempts to find and save her, and in doing so plunges himself into a darker side of society. The film was partially inspired by Coyle's father, a kind but belligerent man who had considered becoming a priest in his early life. The script won the McKnight Screenwriting Fellowship from the IFP Minnesota Center for Media Arts. Into Temptation was filmed and set in Coyle's hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Several supporting roles were filled with actors from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul theater area, and Coyle himself performed in a supporting role.It was produced by Ten Ten Films and Farnam Street II, and distributed by First Look International. With a budget of less than $1 million, filming began in May 2008. Cinematography was provided by David Doyle, Russell Holsapple composed the score, and Lee Percy worked as editor. The film touches on themes of temptation, sin, good and evil, redemption and celibacy, as well as the boundaries between a priest providing counsel and getting personally involved with helping parishioners.Into Temptation was optioned in Hollywood, but talks fell through due to complications from the global recession. The film did not receive a national release but played at theaters in several cities. Although first publicly shown for Coyle's father in December 2008, Into Temptation officially premiered on April 26, 2009, at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where Sisto won the "Outstanding Achievement in Acting" award. The film received generally positive reviews. It was released on DVD on October 27, 2009.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:31 UTC on Friday, 26 April 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Into Temptation (film) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Danielle Neural.

Reverence for Impulse is an unscripted, unplanned and (hopefully) unedited podcast with me, Weena Pauly-Tarr. Together with my guests, we're asking what is alive in this moment? We start each episode with a few minutes of meeting each other head-to-toe, through the language of our bodies, before we press record and bring it to a conversation. We start where we are. This is not a hard hitting agenda or getting to the bottom of things, it's about being in the bottoms of things. Finding each other in the not-knowing. I'm here for the spaciousness, the awkwardness, the silliness, the silence — From the dark insides of our bodies to the brightness of our minds, I'm excited to welcome people who's impulses I'd like to get to know.

He is an internationally recognized specialist with five decades' experience in the fields of yoga and breath anatomy.
